Kk6vzv mobile. Wp6axm repeater. Kk6syv mobile. How are you, Chris? Had to be going home. I had a long day. Well, a long day with not much to do, which makes it even longer. Ah, one of those. Yeah, it's not good when they just drag on you like. Come on, clock. Yeah. Now, if my superiors giving it some thought.

They could given me the capabilities to do some other things, to help people out. But they didn't. Lack of planning. So what about you? Well, today was Monday, so I spent most of the day catching up. Today was Monday. But it's the middle of the week. Best kind of Monday, I guess. Did you go to the Christmas party last night? No, I was home with my family. Yeah, I was out rehearsing.

So I couldn't tell, unfortunately. Would like to hear how it went. Yeah, I'm sure it wasn't bad. I'd like to have known what kind of things Joe got for the. Yes, and I am going to call it this raffle. Yeah, I forgot about that being there. But yesterday was my birthday, so I had, you know, home with the family for my birthday. Oh, yeah. Well, that's important. So tell me something. What is so evil about the word raffle that people don't use it? Technically, gambling. And since you're a 401 or we are a non profit whatever group, we're not supposed to do gambling for gain.

You mean like buying tickets in the hope that you're going to win a prize? Exactly. No, it's just we're doing the same thing. We just can't use the word correct. That's the same thing at the high schools. You know, it's football games. They did, you know, technically games. Games of chance to get something, buy a ticket and possibly win something kind of thing. And they said they couldn't really do it much anymore. Okay. That. Well, gee, to be. To be so caught up with semantics, you know, that's just kind of silly. Same thing. They used to run a.

Cake raffle for the years, and now they had to change it to the cake bonanza because they couldn't have a raffle. Well, you know, I don't know if you were going to have a raffle and you had to ante along the way that you or you had to up your stakes. I couldn't see that. But. Well, isn't the more tickets you buy, the more you're upping your ante? You know, the more tickets you buy, the better a chance you have of winning. Just by upping your. Upping your stakes does not give you that the benefit. Yeah.

No, no, I think it's a totally different animal. It should be, but I think all the Somebody put something through in the laws with a non profit. If you're running games of chance then you can't for gain of your your organization then it's not legal anymore. Okay. All right, changing the subject, do you know anybody that cleans gutters? Cleans gutters? No, I don't know any of them. Just kind of come to the conclusion since I'm almost 70, maybe I shouldn't be climbing on the roof. It's probably not the best thing to do on an.

Even like doing it, really. But I still do it. Well, I do it because it's a necessary evil. Don't necessarily like being, you know, getting up on the roof doesn't give me a thrill or any satisfaction. Yeah, yeah. They make extensions and stuff for blowers and all that stuff. I don't know how much you wanted to do any of that, but where you can blow the leaves out and then they make an extension for the hose that, like, washes the rest out. Well, believe it or not, I put something. I put together a little PVC tool to attach to my hose, to hang into my gutters, to, you know, put water in there. But my problem is that by now I've got a lot of material, and you actually have to physically get.

In there and move it. Using a blower just wouldn't hack it. Yeah, I understand. I'm saying to use the blower first to maybe get some of the leaves out, then you use a pressure washer on that big curved stick to the end to blow the rest out. Well, yeah, I end up getting there with the. With the blower and blowing the leaves that hadn't rotted yet out of there because they're light enough, and then going in there and grabbing all the matted together material with my hand yanking it out. Yeah. Just bending over when you're up on the roof or standing on a ladder for hours and then moving the ladder around. See, it was interesting. I'm not sure it was last year or the year before. I was out there cleaning that.

Stuff out and had my hands in some rubber gloves. But there was water out there and it was cold. But my hands had been aching before that. For some odd reason, when I was sitting there doing that, I'd get my hands into that cold water and then numb them up really nice. It actually felt good. A little ice therapy? Yeah. Yeah, the ice treatment. Okay, Les, I'm. I'm home. I'm just pointing to the driveway now, so I'm going to bid you good evening and we'll catch you another time. 73 KK6VZD. Clear. All right, Chris. Have a good evening. KK6SYV Mobile Highway 65, south of Marysville.

Oh, we've got the thermostat up on high. I mean, really, who cares? Heat, drink, can be married for tomorrow. You have to pay the bill. Oh, yes. We get ours and they got to get theirs. That's for sure. We had our.

It was a work holiday thing, but it was for the consumers. So, yeah, me and my other co workers cooked ham, turkey breast, cranberry sauce, the whole nine yards. It's kind of sad. Some of these people, this is the only meal they're going to get for the holiday season. They don't have a lot of family. Wait a minute. This was for Thanksgiving? Technically, yeah. We didn't do anything for Thanksgiving leading up to it for them, we decided it would be easier to combine the Christmas and the Thanksgiving one. So that's what we did. We had probably close to 40 people come over and get some. Get some meals and take some home and fellowship and shoot the breeze and whatnot. That's great. Everything is.

Expensive. But I have to tell you, I love having turkey dinner. You know, gravy dressing, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie. I mean, need I say more? It all sounds good to me. I had a little bit of it. I didn't want to eat too much because I wanted them to make sure they had money. Yeah. There's no leftovers, really, so that's always a plus. And everything was done in boil oil pans, and there was minimal dishes to do as well. Well, what, you were helping out? Yeah, I helped cook up the turkey and the ham. Basically just cooking everything up there and.

Everyone else did other things. So somehow I got stuck doing the dishes. But I didn't really mind. I was left alone to my own mind. But it was kind of nice to get away from the whole hustle and bustle of things. So now I'm on my lunch break, parked in a parking lot at the grocery store, as far away from work as possible without getting home. Lunch break at 2:30. Somewhere around there. Yeah. Well, it sounds like you're busy and, you know, it's good to help people, even if you can't physically be there. It's nice to have good thoughts and, you know, remember them in your prayers, as I do. Ko6bgy Freddie yeah, no, absolutely. It's not for everybody. Some people are like, ah, I'm not helping them. Hey, you know.

You don't have to. You don't have to. You decide what you want to do. But it's nice to see that there's still some good hearted people out there that still want to see their fellow man and woman do well even if it's just a short afternoon together eating a meal and hanging out. I mean I saw some people that I hadn't seen in a while it's good to see that they're still doing good. What about Veterans Day? Did you do anything, go anywhere? Nope. I stayed my happy rear at the house. I didn't want to go out and about. Everyone's like you should have went and got your free meal. I'm like no, I mean if I go out with a group of veterans yeah we'll go head somewhere up but I'm over the chicken tenders Coca Cola that they give out. It's great, it's greatly appreciated but I just don't want it.

Are there a lot of veterans around in your area? I don't see too many activities here for vets. I did see a group that was women, women veterans getting together, and I thought, okay, that's great. Oh, Yeah, absolutely. It's one of the underserved demographics in the veteran community, for sure. I mean, I know a couple years ago, we were doing the color guard for the Willows home football games, and we would always make an announcement prior that, hey, if you're a veteran, come down and march with us, or come down, stand up here or stand up where you're at. We had one lady secur down. She's like, I was in the reserve. Does that count? I'm like, did he get yelled at? Yeah. Okay, you're one of us.

You know, there used to be a guy on here years back. I don't know. I haven't heard him lately. He was an honor guard. And, you know, he'd get on and we'd talk about us. He'd put on his dress uniform and go around to funerals and stuff like that, but parades. But he had a good heart. He wanted to help out, you know, the vet. He said that nobody else is really stepping up to be in, you know, honor guard. Yeah, I actually did that for about two years. I can't do it now because most, as unfortunate as it is, most of the funerals that they do have are during work hours, and I just can't get away for that. But when I was unemployed or had better hours, I would go. I probably did help with probably close to 100. There was a couple.

Times where we were able to bring back some like Vietnam vets or World War II POWs that were brought back. And it's, it's a, it's a very somber moment, but it's also really good. It's funny. I'll break real quick. I did the firing party, which 21 guns, whatever, and then also the bugle bugle at the funeral. And one little lady came up to me one day. She's like, you sounded so good. You sounded just like a recording. I'm like, dang, it is a recording. There's a little Horton little disc that you put in the bugle and it plays for you. So I was like, yeah, no, I did great. That's why we usually stood up at the side, so you couldn't see me doing it because I'm not the most coordinated person. Hey, I was just going to say, man, playing the cornet.

Playing Taps for real. That's a tough tune. Really. You know, the range is pretty high for a trumpet player. Absolutely. Much respect to the ones that can do it for real. I mean, what we do is effective and it's efficient. But one of the local schools, I think he Maxwell over there here in Calusa county, over there on the west side of the county, they actually, every once in a while, they'll have, like, a high school kid that is really good in band, and he'll actually he or she will come over and they'll actually play as well. And they do it. I mean, you can tell. Okay, they're a little rusty, but, man, they are giving it their go. And the fun thing about that is nobody questions the quality, the integrity of the thought that counts. They call your.

Lip. Your amateur. How is your amateur? Oh, fine, thank you. How's yours? Well, it's kind of slouching today. You know, trumpet players have it kind of rough. They. They have to keep at it even if they're not playing gigs and stuff. They have to work out early, you know, scales and, you know, like the weekends they have, they put themselves through in order to keep in shape, because that's tough work. You know who else is tough is whenever I would see the we never had the drums, but not the pipes and drums, but just the bagpipes. When they would come out for different events. Oh, man. Be you'd have me blue in the face trying to get one of them old squeeze walkers working. But hats off to the ones that can make that shake.

Slider or whatever it is. Make an audible tune. That's actually pretty nice. W E6A X N repeater. Yeah. Excitable. Well, you know, really does add a quality, though, to say a military funeral. Taps, bagpipes, 21 gun salutes, military parade. You know, everybody looking good, right? Fellow. You know, fellow military types. It's a great time. Yeah, I will. Maybe when I get more time, maybe I'll put in a. Put in a call to the guy that's in charge and be like, hey, if you have any weekend, you know, maybe I can do that. Now I got to get a new. We don't have. Well, we do have a uniform, but it's nothing outrageous. It's just black pads, black shoes, and depending on the weather, law.

Short sleeves, white shirt. Some of the organizations like up in Chico, they got the chrome helmets and the pinstripe pants. I'm like, you guys are going, I mean it looks good but y' all are adding too much pompous to it and whatnot. Hey, well what about you? Do you have any desire to be an honor guard? To dress up. Anytime that I can, I'll do it. Did it many times before and I'm sure I'll do it again. Like I said, it's just usually there during the work week at 9am I'm like, well I work at 8:30 so that's not going to work out too well. But anyway, I as much as I don't want to, it's only got about an hour and a half left so pretty mellow. The boss is gone for the rest of the day so I'll just close. But anyway, great talking to you again.
