Kk6vzv mobile. Kk6syv mobile. Good evening. Good evening. Why, it's chilly tonight. Yep. Yep. It's 45. It didn't get that warm today. Okay. All right. Well, I guess it is getting towards Christmas, so it should feel cold. That could be a lot worse. Yes, it could. So, what do you got going this weekend? I am going to a shooting class in Elk Creek. Or just south of Elk Creek. Okay.

What's the aim of the class? Long range and ballistics and all that kind of stuff. Supposedly during the class we shoot out to a thousand yards. Oh my. That's not terribly easy to do. That's why I'm going to class, so I can learn how to do it better. How do you even see what's out there at a thousand yards? To shoot at a expensive piece of glass on top of the gun. Okay. And once you shoot it, hiking out the thousand yards. My, I'm sure he's got side by sides and all that kind of stuff that he goes out there to service the targets and stuff with. No, you can see them from.

That far off and, you know, put the glass that you're looking through and other people watching to see if you actually hit, see the target move. Yeah, it's been a while. I remember seeing somebody that put out a YouTube video of some guy taking a really long distance shot like that, had a deer or elk or something and him actually hitting it. I was like, holy cow. Yeah. You get into the, you know, whether it's ethical to shoot that range to try and kill something. You know, your bullet really doesn't have enough energy to do the proper damage to kill it ethically. Well, that thing went down. Yeah, just like that. There was no staggering around any.

It just fell. Yeah. If you had a good enough shot to take it down. But, you know, how many times are you going to get that perfect shot from that distance? Very true. Very true. Well, all right. Well, I hope it's warm enough for you. He's got shot houses that we shoot from that have heaters and stuff in them. So, I mean, if the wind's blowing straight in your face, of course it's not going to do a lot. But if it's covering from the side or from the back, you're not going to be hopefully sitting out there in the wind. But the moisture and everything else is still going to be around temperature. Well, I think I'm going to stay inside where it's warm. That sounds like that be could.

Be a plant, so I might have to go out there and brave it just to get more leaves. It's interesting. It's like, so far, I've raked my yard twice, and it's weird. It's like the. There is so much, you know, so much quantity of dead leaves built up in the lawn. It's like the. And there's just as much up on the tree, and it's sort of like it stops. It's like, I'm not putting any more out until you. Until I need you. You had to go through and clean up what's already there. And then I'll start shedding some more. Yep, yep. That's the way it always is. You get every leaf picked up, and then you turn around and there's 40 more behind you. It's almost like saying, like, yeah.

Yeah, I know you wish you could get it all at once, but I'm not gonna let you. Yep, exactly. Now I'm sitting in my driveway, and you're probably close to yours, too. Enjoy your weekend and talk to you soon. All right, Have a great weekend. Talk to you later. 73 KK6VZD Claire KK6SYV. Clear. So. Hi, Chris. Kilo Echo 6, Lima, Quebec Juliet W E6A X M repeater. Hey, mister. How you doing? Hey. Pretty good. You know, I heard you talking about raking up your leaves. I was seeing something on TV the other day that they're recommending not to rake them up. I don't know who. I can't remember what the parkle was, but they said to mow them and then mow over them a second or two or three times and let it.

Provide nourishment to your lawn. Yeah, I wish I could do that, but there's something, somebody preventing me from doing that. Ah, the boss is keeping an eye on things, huh? So, I heard you say something about rehearsal. Are you in Messiah? No. The Master Chorale is doing their winter concert. Very good. You know, I think the only time I've seen the Messiah was when I was in high school. And I may have actually participated in it in one aspect or another. I can't remember I played timpani back then, but anyway, I don't quite remember, but. Yeah, that was too many years ago to remember. Well, you know, they always ask the people in the master crowd if we all.

Also want to sing the Messiah. And, you know, I've got enough trouble learning the music that I have to learn for the Master Corral, so, no, I don't do that. There you go. You have to come to open mic and entertain us with your Master Corral performance or something like that. Anyway, I heard you in there. I thought I'd get in there and poke somebody. Poke you a little. Okay. I got a reminder to you a couple of weeks ago when Tim Thompson put a work order in for the. What is it? The movie system that you set up. And I'm looking at this work order, thinking, that's got nothing to do with me. Call Steve. You know, it's so funny. I don't know how many times I said, hey, I'll come, you know, help you guys out, but.

But like I said, for some reason I've fallen out of favor with maintaining that. And they were supposed to, with the new building, get a new one, but I don't know if they ever did. That was when Jerry Reed was heading up everything. He and I talked one day for about an hour, trying to figure out all the things he would need to get that. And I don't know if they ever got that or not, but I don't know. I should reach out again and see if they need any assistance. However, as far as the movie portion of it, they're SOL because you got to have a DVD player that has RCA jacks. Well, when Greg was working over there, I had him order one from Amazon, but it, for whatever reason, would not.

Cooperate, would not match up, would not work. And I've even had HDMI to bnc, not bnc, HDMI to RCA adapters, but they didn't work either. So I don't know, they might have to go through B and H and try to find something, which is probably going to be, since it's near broadcast, going to be a little more expensive. But, hey, it's in my inmate welfare fund. They can afford it. Well, you know, if I had still been working over at the courthouse, I'd have got rid of that ticket saying, you know what? Not our problem. It's their thing. They need to figure it out. But no, they decided to go ahead, and they got Jeff to camp, assigned to it. But I think he kind of told them, it's like, you're going to have to find some new equipment.

Yeah. If you ever think about it, drop him a. Let him know that I can provide him with some information on that. And my non work. I don't have a work email address anymore, but my call signmail, but I don't think they'll contact me. I've tried numerous times, actually. I might submit an application for reserve. Oh, boy. Hey, I got some news for you. This has all happened since the last time I talked to you. Vinnie Rivera is gone, Gary Bradley is gone, Lauren Foster is gone, and Joe Oates is gone. Yeah, I heard about Lauren. And I'm in front of my house, so I may lose you here, but yeah, I heard about Lauren, but the other guys, I. I don't actually, I don't even remember. Lauren was the only one that I remember. Gary Bradley was our network guy.

Vinnie was his assistant. Network guy. And you should have known Joe out. Yeah, probably. Probably. I know one of the girls over there used to go to high school with. I have her on Facebook. I think she retired here last year as well. Oh, yeah? You're talking about Lorena. I believe so. I believe so. I'd have to look on Facebook. For some reason, old high school names escape me as I'm getting older. Oh, yeah? Well, she's been gone about four years now, something like that, but. And I'm. My retirement date is the 31st of March. Well, fantastic. That's like I was telling my wife, she is retiring in July.

And at the time it was nine months. I said, she's pregnant with retirement was the laugh line. But yeah, a lot of people are heading in that direction, that's for sure. That's funny, Steve. Actually, this is kind of fun because CalPERS, your first day of retirement from CalPERS is the day after your last. Your last working day. So my last working day is March 31, which makes my retirement date. April 1st. Oh, that would be. That's perfect. Perfect one. Oh, absolutely poetic. I would just say I was actually going to make it earlier than that. But then I thought, Chris, just work out some.

And then it was just was kind of fun that it ended up that April 1st was my official retirement date. My garage door decided it was closed. It only stays open for one minute. Okay, I'm gonna say seven three I gotta unload some groceries and and then head over to my stepdaughter's house to see if I can fix a sink. A leaky sink or not a sink, a leaky fox faucet. Anyway good Talking with you Chris. 7:3 we'll have to get together or you know, soon or around the time you tire or something along that time frame. I'm going to be down probably at the end of the month. I think Vandy retires at the end of the month so I gotta, I'll probably try to speak down for his retirement. I'm sure they're going to do some sort of gathering even if it's hot dog.

Potato chip. All right, well, maybe we'll see you then. Otherwise, we should try and get together somehow sometime. So looking forward to hearing you on the air again. Have a great weekend. 73 KK6VZD. Clear. All right. 73. Yeah, there's always Thursdays and Saturdays. I usually go to the open mic there on Bogue Road at the But I would call or text or something before because there's days that I sometimes like this past Thursday, I didn't really feel like going. Was feeling a little bit under the weather on top of the fog. Anyway. All right. 7Z KE 6L Q.J. good day.

Kilo oscar 6 bravo, gulf yankees headset. Kilo Oscar 6 Bravo, Gulf Yankee testing. Could somebody be kind enough to give me a signal report, please? K06BGY testing out a new radio. K06bgy, this is ko6dvv. You're coming in good and strong. Absolutely no noise. Thank you for that. I thought I was.

I bought a two pack of these radios and I accidentally ordered two. Two packs of radios. It's just the new baofeng mini or B5R mini or whatever, but they came with the stock antennas which I'm using now, which I'm glad to hear it's got good signal. And they also came with free Nagoya771. Probably like a 13 inch whip or something like that, but that's pretty good. It was two. Two radios for 40. Yeah, my son and I have a pair of those too. And they do seem to work as well as the full size ones. Yeah, I've never had an issue with these Chinese radios. I'm sure some people have, but they got me into the hobby and they keep taking my money. But it is what it is. But thank you for the comeback there. Now that I got four of these guys, I'm not sure what I'll do. Maybe I'll pay it forward to a couple hams or something because I certainly don't need fours.

You. I understand. And yes, if you've got more than you can use, there's probably somebody out there that needs one. I'll let you go then. It's good talking to you. This is Leonard, K6DVV clear 73. Leonard Kilo Oscar Six Bravo, Gulf Yankee. I'll be clear 73.

Kn6gtn mobile, we6AXN repeater, Kn6dtn, ko6bty. Good Saturday to you. Yeah, good morning to you as well, Paul. Got your day all lined up and ready to roll. Yeah, you know what? I'm going to give myself credit. I'm up and I'm having coffee, so that's a good start. That is a good start. I imagine it's just as foggy down there as it is up.

A little bit. I can still see the cell tower that's on the probably about a quarter mile away from me, so I can still see the structure of it. So it's not too bad over here in Calusa, but once you get out of the city proper, then it was pretty bad the other day. Yeah. I was over in Caloosa last evening and the fog was up above you. I mean, it wasn't down on the ground like it was here at Bangor, but it just seemed like most of the valley, you know, I had the fog was. Was up off the ground. You could see pretty decent, but it was, you know, it looks like it's real cloudy. It's just all fogged over. But up here, it up here about 800ft elevation, it. We've been living in the fog the last couple days. Yeah. I'll be honest, I never been to Bangor.

Bangor and I just need to get out and go to different places. But that's good. You guys have that elevation advantage usually. Except for when you're more than knee deep in the sauce there, but you out mobiling? I'm just staying here at the house. It's cold. I'm not doing anything. I been watching. I fell asleep watching Hogan Heroes last night so that was no complaints on my behalf. I slept like a baby. Yeah, I had to run to town and get the batteries. Seemed like on the farm always batteries dead on something or. These are pretty old batteries. It's finally time for them to go so I had to go in and get some of those. So I'll be back at the house here in a few minutes and. And back in putting them, you know, back to work again. Sounds good. This one might die but I got three other ones. But I picked.

Picked up the Baofeng UV5 or UV5R mini decent little radio, and you can program it all from the front panel, and it's probably about as small as one of those little FRS radios, but last night I got a pretty good signal report with the stock rubber duck inside the house. How am I sounding today? So are those 5 watt, 8 watt? What are they? They are 5 watt, and I've watched, I'd say, about three or four different videos from the YouTuber ham community, and they're all saying, most of them are saying that it's. Radio that supposedly has pretty good cleanliness as far as, for instance, stuff goes. And for me.

Yeah, it's amazing what they can do. And for the they're very reasonable. Like, hard to Hard for me to imagine how they can make something that cheap. I guess it has to do with the, you know, their labor prices and stuff. But. Yeah, very good. Well, I'm glad they worked. And you have a good day, and we'll chat with you later. KS6G10. All right. Artie out there. Good luck with those batteries. Hopefully they're not the heavy ones for the cars. Hopefully you're not dealing with those because I didn't buy those heavy batteries. But anyway, enjoy the rest of your Saturday. Stay warm, stay dry. Kilo Oscar Six, Bravo, Golf, Yankee. All the clear monitoring in the background. 73.

Kk6vzb mobile. Check, please. And a. Good afternoon, Paul. So, I don't know how I'm coming through to you up there. I'm down in Lincoln right now. You're coming in good. Right at the beginning, there was a little bit of. Sorry, there was a little bit of fluttering on the signal, but then it came through just loud and clear. But I'm testing out the new. Supposed to be a two pack. Two pack.

I have four of these little guys here and this is a stock rubber duck antenna. And how's it sounding over there? That sounds. That's great. So you got some new antennas. What are they? Oh, no, I do apologize. I actually got the radio this the Baofeng UV5 mini. So it's a replacement for the UV5 and it's mini. It's about the size of like one of those little two pack bubble wrap old two way JMRS radios that you can get at like tracking supply or something. But no, these things, I mean I dropped one already and it survived. Really easy to program. You can program an actual name for the frequency on there from the face of the radio, which was new to me. You can use Bluetooth.

This is the same radio signal that I got or signal report I got from someone last night from inside the house with the stock Rubber Duck. And they also sent with two Nagoya 771s for each radio, or one for each radio. That's great. Yes. I have a 5R Mini, actually. When they first. When I first took notice of them, I thought, I'm gonna. I have to try this just to see what it's like. I like it. It's a nice little radio. Yeah. And I cannot speak for how yours or how your radios were shipped, but they were shipped really well, real fast. Good quality packaging. No scuffs, dings or nothing. But it's a rather small box, and I got two of them, and in each end, on the inside of each box, was two Negor.

A 771 like 13 inch width. I did not know they were going to be in. It's like open one of those little cranks of thing and it's going to snap out like a coiled snake at you. And that's exactly. I had antennas flying around the living room. I thought it was hilarious. Yeah. You know when I got, I got mine, I got a two pack and I pulled the box out and I'm thinking, are there two radios in here? Well, yeah, I pulled it out. There was two of everything in there. It's like, well, holy cow, this is a mini. Okay, now I do have a question. I'm not sure. Same seller or purchase from the same seller, I should say. But did you get two antennas for each radio? Because I got four. Four of these, but they came with a stock rubber duck, which is what I'm using right now. Outside side of my house, I can see the two masts on the Sutter butte.

In my house right now, and I'm probably 20 miles west of that, but perfect line of sight on a stock rubber duck. And then they also sent two Nagoya 771 dual band 13 or probably 14 inch whips as well. And if you break it down, it was $40 2. So if you think about it, it was 20 bucks and I got a free Nagoya 771. I don't remember who I got mine from. I do not believe I got the 771 in mine, but I think I paid like $54 for two of them, which to me still was was a pretty good deal. So you know, would not hesitate whatsoever to recommend them to anybody. Yeah, no, I recommend them according to several reputable courses on.

YouTube, they actually put out higher than the pre or the claimed 5 watts. Some of the harmonics and stuff are showing almost six. Like, wow, that's pretty cool. But anyway, yeah, for the price, you can't beat it. I mean, definitely. Probably a different seller on that with the antenna on there. But what I mean, I'm using the stock rubber duck antenna right now, and I really don't want to go walking around with that big whip on this little radio because I think it's too top heavy. And I mean, sure, the gain will be better, but I mean, if I'm getting good signal reports now with this little tiny neon green and black radio. Stop. Probably gonna not use those for these radios. Yeah, I think I might. You know, I haven't yet, but I think I might replace them with a 701, which is the 7 inch.

Nagoya. Just, you know, I don't know what the quality of the one that came with it is. That seems to be pretty good. But, yeah, I kind of prefer those 701s myself. If I'm gonna replace. And I generally do replace my. The stock antennas, they come with. Oh, yeah, no, I was going through last night after the wipe. Yeah. Went through the little antenna. I got a little pistol cup that I have that'll fit in the darn thing. And most of them are the stock. A little rubber duck. It's like, okay. Hey, it'll transmit on a frequency. Here, have it. Oh, yeah. Well, that and I. I have a tendency to put SMA to a.

BNC adapter on mine so that I can do a quick change on the antenna when I want to. No, I keep. I keep kicking myself because I have that issue quite a bit. I need to go ahead and switch over. It's not that expensive from what I've heard. Just running whatever I get from the manufacturer. A couple odds and ends here and there, but. Are you heading back from the kid's house? I'm actually going down to Roseville. She's got some Christmas stuff down in a storage locker down there, so we're gonna go down there and get it. W E6A X N receiver okay. I assume your daughter has stuff down there and you guys are gonna go decorate together.

Or different plants. We're just gonna go get her Christmas stuff and bring it back to our apartment. She's gonna decorate herself. My wife and I are going to a concert this evening. It's at 7 o' clock in Yuba City, so we're not gonna stay all day down there. It's. That's cool. I mean, she's gonna decorate it. It's funny, it just reminded me that there's a bit of a positive personal story that I could share shortly, if you don't mind. You have the time? Well, I got more time because we just hit Rockland right at about Blue. I think we passed Blue Oaks and of course the traffic has slowed to a crawl.

Okay. Yeah. And for anyone listening, yeah, it is a little sad. Good friend I was. I went to this apartment complex a couple years ago, got an apartment, started to get to know people there. But there was this one lady that was just really shut down, and she finally, about a month before she passed away, she included me in her life. Almost every day I'd go in there. It's a small studio, probably no bigger than a foxhole compared to that. But anyway, she's like, do you want something to drink? You want water? No. But anyway, she passed away. I found her. And in this small shoebox department, 99% of that stuff was Christmas. You would not have ever known that. This sweet lady love Christmas.

And the only reason why she didn't put it up is one, she didn't have the space. But the real reason was because her daughter was never there. I was like, good God, we gotta live for what we want right now. So I don't know if that's too heavy for some people. I do apologize. KO6B, wife riding. Yeah, that's. That's kind of sad. Yeah. Gotta tell ya, we haven't got our Christmas tree up yet at home either. And I guess that's something we probably would have done if we hadn't been down to my daughter's house today. Yeah, it's just good, good vibes. We just gotta, gotta roll with it. Go with whatever flows and take the good winds when we can and whatnot. But anyway, Chris, I am in the go ahead.

Ahead and go inside. I'm came out here to do a radio check. I'm great that we had a good conversation and we appreciate travels on your trip and maybe I'll. I'll keep an ear out for you on your return trip. So maybe we'll chat again tonight. Kilo, Oster, Six, Bravo, Golf, Yankee. I'll be clearing your final trip. Seven three. All right.
