Speaker B: Hello? I had to make an emergency run to the nursery, and apparently my HT doesn't work very well from there. Oh, okay, copy that. Yeah, I just went to the HD antenna. I was trying on the mobile one, but you probably weren't hearing me. Yeah, I heard you come through a couple of times, but apparently I wasn't getting out. Anyway, you in town yet?
Speaker A: Yeah, I made it back home.
Speaker B: Okay, well, I'll let you get on to important things and we'll talk to you later on K06DVV. Clear. Sounds good. KO6DBT. Clear.

Speaker A: Kk6vzb mobile, wp6a x n repeater.
Speaker B: Well, you got your day put in and on the way home.
Speaker A: KN6GTM43 work days left
Speaker B: counting right down. Can't beat that.
Speaker A: Definitely not. So well, how was your day? Well, it was a little hectic, but
Speaker B: pretty normal.
Speaker A: Well, okay, if that's your normal, then I guess that's okay.
Speaker B: I keep telling the boys that I don't see myself growing old under that kind of stress float but that's just every day we do it one day at a time.
Speaker A: True, true. So Ernie ever go anywhere across country using on the train?
Speaker B: I haven't and I heard, I heard you talking to Pete this morning about that and we're a little opposite. My wife would love to take the train across country but I've always been like let's hop in an airplane and get it over with. But there I, I would have a little interest. My interest would stem from. I'd like to see some of that back country from the railroad that you wouldn't see from the highway.
Speaker A: Yes, that's true, that's true. I was just sitting there thinking, you know, I, you know most part of the big, one of the big reasons for taking the airplane is because it doesn't take two and a half, three days to get there. And when you're burning vacation time that's important but when you don't have to worry about vacation time it's not quite as important. The only other thing is, you know, I guess you go on a train unless you get a sleeper of some sort of you're, you're going to be sleeping in your chair
Speaker B: and I, and I've never. Yeah, that's correct. And I've never been on the train to. When I've never went in and looked around. My father in law's just. My wife's parents came out this last fall and they brought the train from Kentucky on out here and they, they enjoyed it. One of my brother in laws came with them but they're up in age, in their 80s and they enjoyed it. They did not get a sleeper car. They slept in their seats but they said they reclined and it wasn't. They enjoyed it. They said it wasn't bad.
Speaker A: Yeah, okay. Yeah, I was kind of looking at the options. I could get a private room one way for $3,000.
Speaker B: Well that'd be one way to use the severance package they're going to give you when you, when you're gone.
Speaker A: They have what's called a roomette and it's like six and a half feet by three and a half feet and it's got two seats in it and they fold down the two berths and I think that's about all you got. You have to share the bathroom down the hallway, but, you know, I guess, you know, if you wanted some privacy, that's the way to do it. But I'm not sure whether you have to stay there all day long. You know, I'm sitting there thinking if you have to stay there all day long and you're in a three and a half by six foot room, I think that I might get a little claustrophobic with that.
Speaker B: Yeah, you probably would. But my in laws said that, you know, they could get up and go to the observation car and sit up there a couple hours and, you know, get up, look around and, and that it was pretty nice.
Speaker A: So.
Speaker B: Yeah, once you take the train in there and have this all figured out, you'll have to give us a report.
Speaker A: Yeah. Did you hear that? Did you hear my tale of my Greyhound bus trip across the state?
Speaker B: I heard part of it, yes, I did. And I think, you know, one of my boys bought a vehicle up in Oregon and they took the bus up to, you know, at an auction and to drive this vehicle home. And yeah, they, their report of that bus trip was similar to what I heard from you.
Speaker A: And if they only went to Oregon, I mean, I went to Chicago. I think we hit every bus stop that there was on the way. There was a bus stop that was just a stop on the side of the road with a, with a sign. That was it. That was the bus stop.
Speaker B: Well, they're not much different than that here in Oroville even. There's just a little sign in a parking lot. And. Yeah, that's. I, I was a little surprised too. I thought it's bit. A little, little crude.
Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah. You ever watch the movie North Lane Northwest? You ever see that one with Cary Grant?
Speaker B: Negative.
Speaker A: Okay, well, he's, he's making his way across country. He's being chased and he has to, he has to stop my. Go out into the country to meet somebody. And he takes the bus out there and it stops at an intersection, you know, these two country roads, and there's a sign that says Greyhound on it. And that's all there was to it. Well, I saw a few of those.
Speaker B: Yeah. That, you know, probably shouldn't be talking about this over the air, but the class that you encounter when you take the Greyhound is a little different story than when you ride the airplane.
Speaker A: That's very true. That's very true. But, you know, hey, it was an experience I can have out to myself that I would never do that again. But at least I did it once.
Speaker B: Yeah, very good. Well, we're pulling into our driveway here, so I'll say 73. You have a good evening. Sure has been beautiful up here the last while. Just every day clear sunshine and great. So you have a good evening. We'll chat with you later. KN6GTN all right, Ernie, nice to Nice

KN6GTN clear. We6a x n repeater. Go ahead. Thank you for taking the Nasir. Yeah, I was out of the vehicle out on View House Road. We had a two car that I was helping out with, so I was not in the truck. Okay, very good. I only had. My only problem was I don't. I didn't use the latest roster or whatever you sent out last. I didn't have that downloaded. So all I had was my paperwork from last time. So I'll have to get. I'll have to be a little better prepared.
Speaker A: Well, you still did a good job and I really appreciate it, bud.
Speaker B: All right, thank you. And I'll. Take care of yourself out there tonight.
Speaker A: Yes, sir. Yeah, I'm gonna go home, throw some, some grub down the throat and take a shower and see if I can get some relaxation before I have to go out to the Bay Area tomorrow.
Speaker B: Boy, they send
Speaker A: you all over
Speaker B: town, don't they?
Speaker A: Yes, sir. Yeah, I've been. Well, last week I spent a couple days in Bakersfield and I was out in Wafayette. Then I was back out in Walnut Creek. And then tomorrow I'm going back out to Walnut Creek.
Speaker B: Do they fly you down to these areas or you just get up early and drive down there? Or how do you get from point A to point B all the time?
Speaker A: Well, normally I just take a company car if I'm going to be working more than one day, then I make them give me a hotel room. But I drive down there. Like when I did Bakersfield, I drove down there. That was only a one day deal. So I worked the 10 hour shift, took a nap, and then, you know, in the truck and then drove back that evening. And then out at Walnut Creek and Lafayette, they get me a hotel room because that's usually anywhere between two to three days that I'm out
Speaker B: there. Wow, you're getting some windshield time in the miles under your belt there.
Speaker A: Yes, sir. Yeah. And I've actually, I've been using my, my personal vehicle a lot, but they, they reimburse for mileage and all that. But I bought this truck February 8th of last year with 92, 000 miles and I'm already up to 110,600.
Speaker B: Yeah, it doesn't take long to add up. You start going to Bakersfield a couple times and back like, wow, that'll be. You'll get that odometer, turn it over. Yes,
Speaker A: sir. But good news is, is I actually, because of the issues I've been having with, with radios, I've actually got two, two meters in my truck now. So I, I'm a little more prepared now.
Speaker B: Okay, that's good news.
Speaker A: Yes, sir. Yes, sir. So, but yeah, I just wanted to thank you for taking the net. I didn't mean for it to drop in anybody's lap. I was actually going to be home no later than 1830, but then that all happened. So. Fun times.
Speaker B: Oh yeah. You learned to roll with the punches. All right, well, you have a good evening. We'll chat with you later. Okay. On 6. GTM sounds good. And 7 3. You have yourself a good night. And 60 N.

Speaker B: Can you hear me now?
Speaker A: Can hear you. Well, you couldn't hear me a little while ago. What's the matter? I can't hear you. I can hear you fine. Yeah, yeah, go ahead.
Speaker B: Know what? I don't know what you were trying to say, but it sure wasn't coming through
Speaker A: right now. It's not coming through?
Speaker B: No, I'm sorry. It's coming through loud and clear now, but when I was doing the net,
Speaker A: I was on the mobile. For some reason I have pushed a button and then probably knocked out my. My something. So, anyway, I didn't get any audio, but that was me. I tried to double click you, but it didn't work.
Speaker B: Okay, very good. Well, I figured it was you, but I had a nice clean carrier but no voice.
Speaker A: I was out messing with my radio one day and I probably reprogrammed it to not work. So, anyway, I was there, but I was sitting outside the Panda for dinner. My wife was in there getting dinner, sitting at the table. And I said, well, I'll sit and do the net real quick and then I'll come in. Well, that didn't work out.
Speaker B: Okay. I figured maybe you just had your mouth full. You were busy eating.
Speaker A: I was wanting to get in there where I could. I was gonna go in the restaurant and eat, and she was sitting there by the window where I could see her, so. But it didn't work out so great. And I told her, I said, well, I'll just have to go home and get on the radio and see if Ernie's still by the radio. What do you want? Are you on a ht?
Speaker B: I am. How could you tell
Speaker A: a chirp in there? A squeaker beaker.
Speaker B: Well, it's an old repurposed radio for public safety. I need to get in there and turn that little squeaker beeper off. I didn't think. Thank you for telling me. I didn't realize it was on there.
Speaker A: It doesn't hurt nothing unless we know you're keying up. Some folks need that kind of stuff.
Speaker B: Yeah, okay. Well, I won't. I'll try not to let it interfere with anything. But, yeah, I'll. I got you marked in as present. And thanks for checking in.
Speaker A: I suppose you've done another picking, haven't you? Not picking. Picking. Yeah, you know. You know what I'm talking about.
Speaker B: No, but they're getting ready to. I need to ask the boys what. What they're up to or when this is going to happen but I'll. I've got you marked down as. As to I need to be contacted so you're in line.
Speaker A: Okay, well you just at any time let me know and I'll take a buzz up that way like I don't have a whole lot to do so I can come up there.
Speaker B: Well, we'll be looking forward to that. We'll have your stuff ready. I'll let you know.
Speaker A: Hey Ernie. All right will you go and kick back and do. Do the rest of your evening and just relax and we'll catch up with you later. It's. It'll be Friday before you know it.
Speaker B: I thought you were going to say it'll be Monday before you know it. Yeah, you betcha. 73 David, you have a good evening. We'll chat with you later. KN6GTM okay.
