Speaker A: Hey, how are you doing, Pete? Are you doing the single side band sprint contest this weekend?
Speaker B: Wait, what you say?
Speaker A: The single side band sprint contest that's actively happening right now?
Speaker B: Oh, what frequency bands?
Speaker A: Literally all bands. I was just on 20 meters.
Speaker B: Hey, I don't know, man. I've got 40 meters. 40 at night.
Speaker A: Yeah, I'm gonna be out of town, so I'm not gonna be near my radio. But I was active getting quite a few contacts on 20 meters just a moment ago. I'm actively driving though, right now, so. But yeah, the bands are on fire right now. L.
Speaker B: Wait a minute. You're working CW in the truck?
Speaker A: No, no, no. I don't operate HF while driving. My HF setup is at home. It's a permanent install. Eventually I will run HF in the truck, but I won't be doing CW while driving. I don't think that's safe. I've heard of that, though.
Speaker B: And I worked a guy once down in la.
Speaker A: He had a.
Speaker B: A key kind of taped to his leg so that, you know, he's driving on the freeway and body DY da.
Speaker A: That is actually kind of cool but crazy at the same time. I mean, to each his own, but I. I don't see myself doing that. And then the amount of coordination that it takes to actually do that. And also, what if you go over a bump and it's like that? It's like, okay, I didn't mean to do that.
Speaker B: Oh, yeah, you could spell the wrong thing and make an enemy for life. Well, but perfect for some kind of a mobile field day, you know, drive your rig up to a mountain, get out there and wham down.
Speaker A: Kind of what I wanted to do was I wanted to turn the truck into a mobile HF rig so that I just take my truck there and I'm already ready to go, you know, operate day, Jeff. From the comfort of my own vehicle as I travel around, I kind of wanted to do that. Some point in time, I'll do that. And by some point in time, that means when I get a better job.
Speaker B: Oh, J, O B. I've heard of that. You know, speaking of mobile, hey, Jeff, I was thinking of a trailer. You know, some kind of double axle thing where you could put in, you know, rigs, antennas, place to lay down, toilets. Hey, everybody would be happy.
Speaker A: That'd be actually kind of cool. This is like a dedicated trailer. You just bring around that radio stuff. I don't have that kind of money, but one could hope someday maybe that's something I can see myself actually probably doing. If I have, like, a boatload of money just lying around, I would probably do that. Absolutely. KN6WNR Friday.
Speaker B: I always feel like it's good to dream or fantasize, you know, like, if you're working toward a goal, it's good to go over, you know, mentally trying to figure out how things work, etc. I forgot where I was going with that.
Speaker A: It's always good to dream. I got quite a few dreams that I actually want to realize at some point, and one of them I don't think I'll ever be able to do, but it's worth trying to.
Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. If I had a lot of money, I'd have to figure out some way to spend it. You know, ham radio would be a good idea. Put a lot of money in there. I think I might also like to get, like, some kind of nice car or nice truck. Maybe even an old military 6x6 power wagon with a 350 crate engine, something like that.
Speaker A: And talk about military hardware. If I had unlimited money and there were no rolls, I'd buy like an M1 Abrams.
Speaker B: Yeah, there you go. Well, you know, it'd be nice to have some toys, you know, what do they call that big boy to. Yeah, that would be something.
Speaker A: California resident destroys all vehicles on a Public street with M1 Abrams.
Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Well, you'd probably get destroyed, too.
Speaker A: You know, get in so much trouble, but would enjoy every moment of it.
Speaker B: Yeah. I've seen a video of a guy going nuts in a tank. You know, finally they had to get on, climb on top, and he wouldn't quit.
Speaker A: Probably having the time of his life.
Speaker B: I'm sure he was working out some sort of aggression, you know, issues. You know, how people can harbor a grudge or just get angry with the world and, you know, they gotta do something, gotta punch back.
Speaker A: That's the unfortunate thing. Yeah. How is the weather up in Chico?
Speaker B: Because I'm.
Speaker A: I'm about to be heading up there in about an hour.
Speaker B: Little cool.
Speaker A: Not bad.
Speaker B: Today was really good sunshine. I actually got out there and I took off my shirt. You know, it was warm, but gets cold at night.
Speaker A: Yeah, it does. Last time I was out there, which was like, three weeks ago, it was getting pretty cold out. Well, I just destined myself for the time being.
