Speaker A: So Mike, how you doing? Good evening. Over.
Speaker B: I'm doing just fine. Just fighting my way through Oroville and then heading home.
Speaker A: Was made to Highway 20. They put a new stop flight at the Hallwood area. Now we got a stop. Over.
Speaker B: Let me know. I didn't know anything about that.
Speaker A: Yeah, it's past Hallwood. I forgot the name of the road. It's where the rock quarry is for all those rock trucks. Now they put a light up there. I think they activated it today. Maybe not Overt.
Speaker B: Yeah, that's not a bad place for it. There's been a. There's been plenty of stuff going on there, but it kind of. Well, I guess not because you got the school right there too. You're supposed to be slowing down with
Speaker A: Sebastian Schoolhouse. Did they.
Speaker B: Do they still have the meetings on Tuesdays?
Speaker A: Third week of the month. I forgot. Over.
Speaker B: Yep, we still have them going on. I haven't. I've been missing a few of them but yeah, they're still going.
Speaker A: I think that's the third week of the month. Every Tuesday at the church. Over.
Speaker B: Roger, Roger.
Speaker A: Your loop doing King six, Whiskey, Whiskey Line and mobile for station id. How's your loop doing? Over.
Speaker B: Kyloop's doing. Doing really good. I've. I've made some contacts on it. I haven't, I haven't actually played on HF at my mother in law's for a while. I. I got a radio going at my house. I'm about ready to build a vertical 160 meter vertical. I'm going to start playing with
Speaker A: camoli divided by two quarter wavelength. Half a wavelength, about 260. So that one's going to be about 130. 130 on a quarter wavelength. Over. Yep, about that.
Speaker B: I'm gonna.
Speaker A: I got about a 30.
Speaker B: A 30 foot mass. I'm gonna wrap it around.
Speaker A: Ground radials or none.
Speaker B: Yeah, I'm going to use some ground radials.
Speaker A: Minimum of four at least. Then if you run out of room on the end you can always take them counterclockwise, whatever the feed is and start dividing it to almost make it look like a swastika sign over it.
Speaker B: Well, I was gonna do that and I was also gonna try the good old trick of taking a couple ground wires and just. And stick sticking them in the ground with. Oh gosh, three foot rod.
Speaker A: That would work. You can do that too. And that antenna should cover the Whole band with a good turn from 6 meter all the way to 160 over.
Speaker B: W E Z A X M receiver. That's what I'm thinking. That's what I'm going to shoot for, see how it works out.
Speaker A: KK6ISQ for ID6WW mobile Friday. Well good Mike. Omnidirectional. Maybe pick yourself up 811 or even smaller ALS 500600 or if you want go ahead and get a Mercury. Mercury or Mark 3 I think Mark 3 or Lux over. What's that? Fire amplifier so you can shoot the dx. Usually I talk to Europe about this time. Africa? No, later on Africa about 7 our time. 8 o' clock Europe then 11 o' clock Pacific Islands. Over.
Speaker B: Yeah, I haven't been hearing any of that lately. But yeah, I got a 800 watt amplifier.
Speaker A: What's the model number?
Speaker B: Meritron 811-8-11-811 Hotel.
Speaker A: If it's a three holer once next time you go to swap meet, pick up some 572bs, keep those on standby for a backup. Over.
Speaker B: Oh definitely, definitely. So what bands have you been working to get all that?
Speaker A: Meters at 100ft with a two element Yagi signals are coming good all the way up to Milan, Barcelona, South Africa. Then after that the Pacific. A lot of JAs in Australia and New Zealand's over.
Speaker B: Okay, I didn't catch what band though.
Speaker A: 30 meters, 40 meters from whatever 7537 1.53 for. That's an extra class so I think you might be limited to go go up to 7.1757178. I hang around 7.178 or roger.
Speaker B: Yeah, I'm. I'm still general so I can't get down that low. I can as well as I can go as far as 175
Speaker A: QSL. That's why split it for the general class and below or general class so they can get on air then that's about it. Okay Mike, I'll let you go. I'm almost destined before I hit my gray line here.
Speaker B: If you're cutting off pretty good 73 kk6 isq monitoring.

Speaker A: How you been doing, Mike?
Speaker B: I chased my tail and enjoying this weather.
Speaker A: It's been nippy. It's been a. It's been a cold winter already. Yeah.
Speaker B: The big guys, like me, like the cold weather.
Speaker A: I'm not real crazy about it, but I'm used to it. I put up with it every year.
Speaker B: So what's new? Anything?
Speaker A: Oh, nothing lately.
Speaker B: Well, the kids are due in. I think it's May or June, and I'll have a grandson.
Speaker A: That's great. And I'm getting two granddaughters married off this year also.
Speaker B: There you go. That's good news.
Speaker A: Yeah. It's gonna be a fun year.
Speaker B: Yep. Yeah, they're looking forward towards it, of course, and. And they were sharing with us all the good stuff on it. On him, not it. Him.
Speaker A: Have a boy. Huh? They've already done all the checking. Huh?
Speaker B: They done all the checking and they got pictures.
Speaker A: That's great. That's good. Well, congratulations.
Speaker B: Yep. You know, I always said I was too. I felt too young, but I'm happier than Hornet now.
Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. How old are you now? If you're 50? Yeah, you're. You're. You need to get it going now.
Speaker B: The joke between me, me and my wife. I'm 51. 50? No, I'm 51. I'll be 52 in March.
Speaker A: Now's the best time to have grandchildren because they're gonna work you. Yep.
Speaker B: I gotta live a little closer to them to be able to get. Get there, though. That's true.
Speaker A: I. I was fortunate. We. We had five. Five grandkids, and we lived right next to him, just practically within the two towns.
Speaker B: Yep. Right now he's in Alabama, stationed there. And when he gets out, he doesn't know where he's gonna go, but, you know. But he keeps on telling me that he's not going to come back to California.
Speaker A: Alabama's closer than you think.
Speaker B: He doesn't like up there. I think he might do Kansas or the state of Kansas, or he has to first see what towers are needing air traffic controllers.
Speaker A: When is the baby due?
Speaker B: May or June. Somewhere in there.
Speaker A: Okay. Yeah. Well, that's. That's right around the corner.
Speaker B: Yep. Hopefully we'll wait for like a month after he's born, and then we'll go back there and visit with them all. We haven't actually been. Been to their place at all to visit. We've always blown them here.
Speaker A: That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying when I'm talking about. Alabama's close. Oh, yeah.
Speaker B: I'm just about ready to pull into my parking lot, so I'll go ahead and let you have the rest of the afternoon off. But it certainly was nice talking to you.
Speaker A: Okay, Mike, you have a good day, and we'll Talk at you later. 73 WA1NER.
Speaker B: 73 KK6ISQ. Clear.
Speaker A: K1NER Clear. I'll try this other one here again real quick. N6 lai wa1ner. Contact. He's trying to program his radio, and I thought I heard him out here a little bit ago. It was probably over on the 210QSY.WA1NER. See you later.

Speaker B: Yeah, Paul here, just near Sutter. Hi, Paul.
Speaker A: I haven't heard any activity on this repeater in quite a while. It seems to have slowed down a lot compared to last year, so figured I'd throw my call sign out there and see if it was still on.
Speaker B: Yeah, it works great, but you're right, it'll go for hours with no activity and once in a while people get on and visit. Of course, we've got a few nets going here and there, but you said you're mobile. How are you doing? Are you from the area?
Speaker A: Yeah, I'm over from Linda, so not too far. I'm just heading north past East Nicholas right now, so. Had a bit of a drive and good time to test these things.
Speaker B: You bet, yeah. Well, I'm out on the bike trail and stopped at the little rest stop here. Getting ready to pedal again. But it's nice to be out today. It's a beautiful day.
Speaker A: That's fantastic. And I saw one time on a pamphlet that this repeater, this club, has a meeting, a local meeting, and I just couldn't remember the details. Do you happen to know that information?
Speaker B: Yeah, it's the Yuba Sutter Amateur Radio Club and it is on the third Tuesday of every month at 7pm in Marysville. It's kind of in the. It's at the Methodist Church in Marysville, but we enter through the kitchen door in the back alley right behind Habit Burger. I think it is
Speaker A: fantastic. I'm going to make a note of that and I hope they'll try and catch the next one.
Speaker B: Yeah, that'd be great. We're trying to get some, you know, new activities going this year and got several things on the calendar, so there's some excitement going and it'd be great to see you. My name's Paul and I coordinate VE test and. And things like that. So what's your name?
Speaker A: My name is Mike and I'd love to love to meet up with you at the meeting. Paul, thanks so much for the information.
Speaker B: Yeah, well, good talking to you and hope to see you there and. All right, well, I'll say 73 for now. Have a safe drive and I'm gonna get to pedaling.
Speaker A: All right, ride safe, 73. KK6 SNG clear
Speaker B: BNH. I'll be monitored.
