Speaker A: Good evening, Chris. KN6GTN Ernie, how you doing? Are you.
Speaker B: Are you battling any snow or is that above your level up there?
Speaker A: That was yesterday.
Speaker B: Okay. All right. So you haven't have any avalanches in your part of the wood then?
Speaker A: No, but in 15 years since I'm here, I've never seen what I saw yesterday here on, you know, here in Oroville, we're. The shop's about 800ft and we. I've seen it up the top by the, on top of the hill there by the old scales, about 1200ft elevation. But this time we had a good coating of snow down there in our parking lot. It made our life miserable yesterday trying to bring vehicles in and, you know, keep the floor dry to where we can work. And I don't miss. We used to deal with that all winter long. I don't miss it a bit.
Speaker B: Oh, yeah, I imagine. I can just imagine. Yeah. Interesting. When. Yeah, I haven't really seen any, but a long time ago. Everything's a long time ago now. Ernie. When I was at Travis, we actually had a little bit of snow fall and stuck for a little while. And Ernie, people just didn't know how to act. You know, they were. They put on their brakes and they'd go sliding along and they just didn't understand.
Speaker A: Yeah, that happened up here yesterday too. There were a lot of accidents. People took out telephone poles and all kinds of interesting things right up the street from the shop there. But yeah, when we lived in portola Back in 96, I don't remember which, you know, exactly which year it was, but one of those years, Bakersfield got a couple inches of snow and they dismissed all the schools because they said it's a once in a lifetime event and everybody got a vacation.
Speaker B: Well, that's kind of fun. At least they couch it that way instead of saying, we're not sure how we can handle this, so everybody stay home.
Speaker A: Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
Speaker B: We.
Speaker A: There was actually a snow plow went by the shop with his blade down there on the 162. I haven't seen that in, like I said, 15 years. Now in northern Missouri, that was a different story.
Speaker B: Oh, yeah, that was as common as. Well, whatever is common.
Speaker A: Yeah.
Speaker B: Interesting. So I don't know who I was talking to yesterday. I wish I could remember because they were talking about skiing or something and I told them they could have my old ski equipment and I wish I'd remembered who that was because I'm half serious. I would have just given it to them.
Speaker A: Are you sure? I Mean, you know, with retiring, maybe next winter you'll want to break those skis out and get back into the hobby.
Speaker B: I'm not kidding myself in thinking that I'm in any condition to do any serious skiing,
Speaker A: okay? I don't, I mean I, I see these people here, like with all this up there in the mountain, there's a lot of people this weekend going up to play in the snow and I, I get it. I mean if you lived out here all your life and hardly ever ever see snow and you like to do that, that's, that's wonderful. But I am not going out of my way to go play in the snow. I, I played in all the snow I care to.
Speaker B: Well, I never did do an all awful lot of skiing, but the skiing that I did, I had fun. I enjoyed it. I was, you know, I was a rank beginner the whole time, but I, I enjoyed it. But you know, it just doesn't really hold any. Not like if, if I don't go skiing, it's not going to kill me.
Speaker A: Yeah, well, I, I have no interest in it either. I, I never did. Now my boys and my girls both, they like to go at least once or twice a year and spend a couple hours on the ski slope, get their practice in. But they have a lot of fun. But yeah, that's alright.
Speaker B: Of course the skis that I have, I'm not sure anybody'd want nowadays because let me see, they're 40 years old.
Speaker A: You never know, they might be better than anything that anyone has now. Who knows?
Speaker B: Well, for somebody that doesn't have any skis at all, they're better than nothing.
Speaker A: Oh yeah, copy that.
Speaker B: I just wonder where I put my ski ski boots and whether or not, you know, they were plastic and who knows, the glue holding them together might have, might have failed a long time ago. You know, I, I went to go get my, I got a new, new cell phone and I went to go get it changed over at, AT and T and, and I took it out. I took the old one out of its protected case and the back started coming off of it, you know, and it, the back was glued in place. So like whole week. This is, I guess this is getting kind of old.
Speaker A: So it was literally falling apart.
Speaker B: Huh. W E6A X N repeater. Yeah, if it didn't have an external case on it, it would have come right apart.
Speaker A: Very interesting. So what, you run in Apple or are you running Andro? Android systems?
Speaker B: Oh, I went from Android to Android. I'm too used to Operating with Android. And Ernie, for reasons I won't go into, I'm not giving Apple any of my money.
Speaker A: I can relate to that.
Speaker B: My wife was trying to get me to get an Apple because she has an Apple, my daughter has an Apple, my son has an Apple, my son, my daughter in law has an Apple and she ought to get an Apple so we can do things, you know, Apple can do things with other apples. As a kid with an Android and I just was like you know what? No, I'm too used to doing the Android.
Speaker A: Very good. You can always use the excuse. It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks.
Speaker B: Well she came up with that. Well you know your son and your daughter can show you how to do that stuff. And they, she bought a new phone just recently and Apple it cost her fifteen hundred dollars. I bought a new phone, it's a Motorola, it cost me 300.
Speaker A: Wow, that's a huge difference. I had no idea there would be that big a big a swing, that big a gap between those phones.
Speaker B: That's amazing.
Speaker A: Yeah. One of my customers some time back came in, the older gentleman came in the office and he was crying the blues. They had been going through some phone issues and he said these smartphones, he said it's turned the whole world upside down. He said now your 12 year old granddaughter has to teach you how to use a phone. And he said that's backwards. When I grew up you know the older people always told taught the children how to do things.
Speaker B: Yes, yes, yes. Well my, my wife went for the, for the high feature iPhone and I went for one that was really basic because I don't need any of these high feature stuff. I just, I don't use it. So figure if I'm not going to use it why pay for it?
Speaker A: Exactly. Well I'm destinated here just parked up in front of the house so I'm going to say 73 I've got another appointment here in a few minutes so I've got to run. So you have a good weekend. Be careful out there. We'll chat with you later. Km6gtm
Speaker B: all right Ernie, have a great week on yourself. I'm going to go out to Sutter and see the tractor parade and maybe catch a ride with Bud. But have a great weekend and we'll talk to you later. 73 KK60VZD clear. You're going to buy a tractor when you retire. Kilo across the claimer. Go back to the.

Speaker B: Well, good morning. Good morning. Are you going to the Sutter Tractor Fest?
Speaker A: You know, that's the first thing I've heard about it. What do you. What do you think?
Speaker B: I'm headed to the Sutter Tractor Fest. Apparently, they do this every year. They get a bunch of the guys around and they take their tractors out and they parade them down the streets of Sutter and not exactly sure what else they have. They have hayrides, they have tractor rides, they have. I don't know what else. It's a fun little event just, you know, I guess, celebrating the fact that the. The farm life, I guess. And I finally got wind of it ahead of time, so that I'm going to be. I'm going out there to see it. And KK1 bud has got a restored tractor that he's going to be driving.
Speaker A: Wow. Sounds cool. You know, I'm into automotive restoration and stuff like that. I understand some of the things that go on with restoration. You know, it's tough, but it's really.
Speaker B: Artwork. Well, yeah, you know, I. Depending on different circumstances, I might enjoy having a restored tracker just to play around with,
Speaker A: you know, what a good idea for your retirement. Think of it. You can go out there and wrench on your. On your. What would you get? Let's see.
Speaker B: Probably
Speaker A: an old kaboki.
Speaker B: Now, you kind of think that that would be a little bit more affordable than me trying to go out and buy an Austin Healey 3000 and try it up, restore that.
Speaker A: I wonder. I wonder about tractor parts. You know, the big tractor monopoly is getting a lot of flack from the farmers. They're saying, hey, we've got to make a living, you know, food for the United States. And all you do is jack up the prices of tractors and the repair.
Speaker B: I don't know. I don't know. I've got to. I got to believe that there's enough interest in these old tractors that people are making repair parts for them. Or, you know, there's clubs that you could join and you become active enough to find people that also belong to these clubs that have spare parts that they're willing to sell.
Speaker A: Yeah. And, you know, if you like tractors, you might attract one. Somebody somewhere has got something and you say, hey, you know, I love tractors. Oh, really?
Speaker B: Yeah. I've got another friend who comes from a farm family. Well, let me see. Farming is for people east of the Mississippi, right. Or at Least east of the Rockies.
Speaker A: He's.
Speaker B: Yeah, he comes from a ranching family and he's got this old International Harvester tractor. Although you'd never know it because all the markings on it are gone, all the paint is gone and it's just rust colored but it still runs. And he takes it out every once in a while and gives people hayrides and things.
Speaker A: Oh yeah, there's a couple of restoration programs that I watch. There's one guy who's kind of funny. He goes and finds old Rex
Speaker B: engine
Speaker A: hasn't started in 30 years and he's out there cranking it, shooting carb cleaner down the carburetor. It's funny.
Speaker B: Yeah. You know, I'm not sure that I'm very good at it anymore. But you know, I joined the Air Force as a jet engine mechanic for years and I still enjoy wrenching on things. I find that very enjoyable. I just don't have the space or the money or up until now, the time to put into getting something and messing around with it.
Speaker A: Hey, I saw a video about the A10 warthog and the political atmosphere of the army and the Air Force. Who didn't want the A10?
Speaker B: Yeah, I'm not sure about the, you know, originally. I know that the Air Force has been trying for years to get rid of the HN and Congress won't let them and it's still got a role to fill but nothing else will as far as I know. So I don't know why in the world they're trying to get rid of it.
Speaker A: You know, I guess the military can get bogged down in and you know, rivalries and stuff like that. Which is human nature, wouldn't you say?
Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Yep. I don't know, maybe the A10 isn't glamorous enough for the Air Force, you know.
Speaker A: Hey, I've got an idea. Why don't you buy my second Bronco? It's all clean, one piece, never wrecked or in storage in Orville. I'll give you a deal.
Speaker B: My, my preference would be, although my, my wallet wouldn't support it would be a first generation Bronco. But unless you've got a fair bit of money. But if I. Yeah, don't even try.
Speaker A: It used to be, you know, that the second gen Bronco was the popular way to go. Oh yes, I'd love to have a Gen one. You know, I'd see them when I was in high school. Some of the guys had,
Speaker B: and I'd
Speaker A: look at them and they had a blonde girlfriend. I'M going, oh, man, if I had a Bronco, I'd be king. King.
Speaker B: Well, my high school thing was, and I already mentioned it, I fell in love with the Austin Healing 3000 and would dearly love to have one, but you know, they're pretty pricey nowadays too.
Speaker A: Is that the gtx? Like the square tail, the kind of station wagon rear end?
Speaker B: Oh, no. Oh no. The 3000 was nothing but curves. And you know, Most of your MGs and your Austin Healeys were four cylinders. Well, this was a big, I think it was a three liter, six cylinder. I don't remember whether it was that large. It must be, you know, Austin Healey 3000, 3000 cc's. So yeah, they were absolutely gorgeous. And I saw one a couple of years ago. We were down in Pacifica, stopped off someplace and I saw one parked in a restaurant parking lot. And it was, it was like, it was brand new.
Speaker A: You know, I sense by the way you talk about this car that you really do care.
Speaker B: W e repeater. You were doubled by the repeater, so he didn't catch all of that.
Speaker A: Sounds like you care about that kind of car.
Speaker B: When I was in high school, my, my best friend had an MG and we used to bomb around in that in our free time. So, yes, I got really interested in the British sports cars I even had. Before I had the money, I had bought a 64 Triumph Spitfire that needed restoration. I was a teenager who had the money for that.
Speaker A: I used to restore British bikes. It was a time when I had so many. It was just stupid. I regret selling the BSA Gold Star that I had. 500cc single, but, oh, you know, your ankle, you've heard of that part of the leg, try to start a 500cc single.
Speaker B: Oh, yeah, yeah, that's, that's what I understand. Oh, you know, that's why years, years, years later, Yamaha built a 500cc single and they were smart enough to put a compression release on it so that you could, you know, get the starter or get the kickstarter in just the right position.
Speaker A: Yeah, I forget. I think later on they put a
Speaker B: little
Speaker A: bubble kind of thing where you looked at it and you could line up the marks and then you wrench on it. But I've heard of guys with the Harley Davidson and they started with their hand, their wrist, and guess what happened? Snaps back and they break their wrist. Oh, hello.
Speaker B: Yeah, Yeah, I haven't heard that, but I did. One of the, one of the guys I worked with at Travis had a Sportster and I Remember him talking to me about, you have to watch out with those because, you know, if you. If you didn't kick down, if you didn't release your knee at every bottom of your straight, that it could kick back and throw you up over the handlebars.
Speaker A: Oh, yeah, I had them snap back. You know, it was more pain in my ankle. It didn't really, you know, kick me up over the bars, which I know can happen. I used to ride around with motorcycles. Never had a wreck. People would look at me and say, you've never had a wreck? No. They say, you're kidding yourself.
Speaker B: Yeah, I know. But you know what? That's mostly the people that, well, let's say rode. They weren't terribly vigilant. You know, I have a. I have a 500s silver wing. And I've had a lot of close calls, but I avoided them because I can't keep my eyes open.
Speaker A: Yeah. Reason I got rid of my bikes, it's the cars, it's traffic. It's stupidity. I mean, they look right at you and they still pull over.
Speaker B: I know, it's really weird. For some reason, I seem to have developed a sense that if I look at somebody and they're looking at me, I can kind of tell whether they're going to do something stupid or not.
Speaker A: Yeah. I believe in having a bike with enough power, though, to get out of the way, you know, crank that throttle and leave them behind.
Speaker B: Oh, then you want a Yamaha vmac.
Speaker A: I don't know. One of the things that. The reason I don't ride anymore is I've seen some friends that were in the hospital for different things. You know, a few of them passed on, but you don't want to take any chances, especially as you get older.
Speaker B: Yeah, no kidding. No kidding. So we're talking about triumphs, you know, and. Yeah, my memories of triumphs is the fact that they leaked oil everywhere. Of course, that's the same thing that could be said of Harleys up until the new generation. And I remember seeing, you know, thinking the most perfect British upright twin was the Yamaha 650.
Speaker A: Good bike back in the, what, 60s? 64, 65. The thing I didn't like about the British bike is the carburetors would load up. I mean, you get them running good for two blocks, and then it's,
Speaker B: Yes, yes. Yeah. I don't know. I. I tell you what I've had. I've had Japanese bikes. All of mine have been Japanese bikes. I saw one on Facebook. Marketplace. It's a like a 2010 Moto Guzzi. That is really. I looked at it, I looked at the mileage, I looked at the condition and I looked at the price and it's really appealing.
Speaker A: Yeah, I would take a Moto Guzzi. One of the things, those Italian boxes bikes, man, they sound cool also.
Speaker B: So I'm headed right for. I'm right at Sutter High School. I guess that's where they're going to be doing. They're staging all the tractors and I got to figure out where to park. I'm not sure where the best place to park is. Give me a minute. I'm going to try and call Bud and get his opinion. Kk1vud, kk6vzd, Kk1vud, kk6vzd.
Speaker A: And 6IWh. Yeah.
Speaker B: Not knowing exactly where they're going to be parading these things. I'm at Sutter High School and there doesn't seem to be many people parked around here. I'm not sure where they're actually going to be parading these things, but the parking lot for the staff in front of the, in front of the high school is absolutely. There's nobody in it. So I'm sitting here thinking, is this a good place to park or not?
Speaker A: Oh, maybe it was cancelled.
Speaker B: I see tractors heading down to the staging area, so I. Yeah, it's just a little early. I guess they're going to be going at 9. It's 8:30 now, so they're starting to gather. But like I said, I'm not sure where the best place to park would be. I don't want to park here and then find out that I'm parked right by the parade route and if I wanted to leave, I couldn't get by. But the roads aren't closed.
Speaker A: I don't think it'll be that big of a parade really, so that you get blocked in. Maybe five guys are going to show up. We're talking tractors.
Speaker B: I know, but we're also talking a farming community here. So, you know, that's what their interests are, is agricultural equipment. See, I see.
Speaker A: I see quite a few of them. Yeah.
Speaker B: I think I'm just going to go park in the staff parking at the high school. I mean, it's wide open.
Speaker A: Seems like there should be somebody else on here kind of with information.
Speaker B: Well, that's why I was hoping Bud was on the air. I'm going to park in the superintendent's spot.
Speaker A: Oh, you've got an attitude problem, don't you? Why not?
Speaker B: It's the best spot.
Speaker A: Attitude. Attitude.
Speaker B: W. Okay, I'm swapping radios, so give me a minute.
Speaker A: 60, 69, 58. Oh, well, while you're. While you're doing that, I'll tell you something. I talked to a guy that I know, a ham. And he said his wife listened, you know, to you and me or whoever, I don't know, on the way to work in the morning. And he says he procedures things you can. Guys are so great, so funny, you know, always interesting. I said, are you sure? You talking about IWA? Yeah, yeah. You know, 8, 5 in the morning. She just listens. So, you know, hey, well, at least somebody. There's somebody out there. Sometimes I think everybody in the world is dead. All the ham. I'm out here by myself. You're. You're there. Thank God. Anyway, somebody thinks you're funny. Hi. Hi. Yeah. Okay.
Speaker B: Sounds to me like she needs to get her ham license.
Speaker A: Oh, she's got it. This is a ham oil. But she didn't want to get on. I said, you know, I don't blame. That's fine.
Speaker B: Okay.
Speaker A: I was gonna say
Speaker B: I'd love to talk to more Cam. So if anybody's out there listening, come on back, we'll chat. Anybody who might know about the parade,
Speaker A: you know, the guys on a gmrs, this is kind of stuff they like, you know, get on the talk about flooding and, you know, fires and parades.
Speaker B: Yeah. Yep. Well, I'm going down the line of tractors to see if I can find my friend. Well, I'm gonna roll here.
Speaker A: Talk to you later. Have a good day. I'll be listening out.
Speaker B: Okay,

Speaker B: Well, good morning to you, Chris. How's this Saturday treating you this morning?
Speaker A: All pretty good. I came out to Sutter. There's a Sutter tractor event. Guess I'm not sure if, you know, Bud talked about, I guess once a year they had all these tractors that gather out in Sutter and then they go take a ride around the Sutter Buttes and come back and then they have like hay rides and raffles and a couple other things. So I came out early to watch them head off.
Speaker B: Oh, there you go. Yeah, I was actually going to be doing Tail End Charlie for them just this year, but I ended up having to get called into work. So I'm actually headed up to Engelbreak Dam to do a vehicle rescue.
Speaker A: Out of the reservoir.
Speaker B: Luckily, no. One of our new guys decided he was going to pull a bonehead and move and took one of the March patrol cars with quarter tank of fuel up there. So now he's out of gas. So I gotta run up there, throw gas in the vehicle, run the gas down, or run the vehicle down to a gas station here in Marysville to fuel it up. That way I can take it back to him.
Speaker A: I think you. I think you got it right, bonehead. That's a bonehead move. Yes, sir.
Speaker B: And then after I'm done with that, I gotta finish packing all my stuff up.
Speaker A: That way I could head out to
Speaker B: the Bay Area for my actual job tonight.
Speaker A: Boy, you're a busy boy.
Speaker B: Never a dull moment, sir. Never a dull moment.
Speaker A: Yeah, I guess I gotta come back here around noonish or so Bud said. It takes him about three hours to go around the vehicle. And then maybe I can get a hayride, some other stuff like that.
Speaker B: Well, there you go on over to the French place and get some food. Or actually at a South Butte Market, they got some hot food and stuff there as well.
Speaker A: I actually stopped by. I was heading back out and went by the restaurant at South. Is it South Butte Road and Acacia? And there's a restaurant in there called French Whisk. And I thought, let me try that. I've never been in there before. So that's some good breakfast foods. Yeah, French Whisk has got some pretty good food out there, so can't complain. It's kind of weird with some of
Speaker B: the stuff seeing a French twist on Americanized food, but still really good.
Speaker A: Yeah, I guess they're open for lunch too. Sitting here looking at they've Got a nice French dip sandwich and a Reuben and chicken blt. Yeah, yeah, sounds good to me. I think I'll have to go out. I'll take, take my wife out there. I think there's actually some food that she might actually be able to eat.
Speaker B: There you go.
Speaker A: Yeah, I haven't had their French dip
Speaker B: yet, but let me tell you, their Reuben sandwich. Oh man, that is good.
Speaker A: Yeah, I got a latte this morning and it's the smoothest latte I've ever had. Good deal. Hey, as long as it was nice
Speaker B: and smooth and did the job all right.
Speaker A: Yeah. Now it's gotten me thinking that we have a latte machine or an espresso machine at home. And you know, I was never trained in how to, how to make a latte, but you know, I mean, it can't be that hard. But still, unless you have somebody show you, this is exactly what you need to do. I think I've been putting too much too many shots in mine. Gotcha. Gotcha.
Speaker B: Yeah, usually lattes. I think they only usually have like one or two shots in them. How long you been putting in?
Speaker A: Yeah, I'm not exactly sure, but. Oh well. So I got a play today at at submitting my paperwork to get my pension started.
Speaker B: Good deal. Have fun with that. I hope they huh, got everything in the line for you. I know my mother in law's been fighting with them about my father in law's stuff and some of her stuff
Speaker A: too, so it can be a headache. Make sure you got everything.
Speaker B: I almost said I's crossed and T's dotted, but I guess it's vice versa.
Speaker A: Oh yes. Oh yes.
Speaker C: So.
Speaker A: That's quite a way, that's quite a drive here up to Angle Brighton. Back and then back and then back.
Speaker B: Yeah, it becomes a pain having to drive back and forth at our office,
Speaker A: but good deal, man.
Speaker B: But so let's see, you're down to what, 29 days.
Speaker A: 29 work days. That is correct.
Speaker B: Well, and then you got your vacation days. So let's say 27 days.
Speaker A: Yes, I have a couple of what we got floating holidays coming too, but I found out about that. Doesn't matter. If I'm topped out on my vacation day day, they will still pay out my floating holidays. So I guess I'll just let them do that.
Speaker B: There you go. So just out of curiosity, what do you guys max out for? Because I know when I was at the out there at the power plant for vacation, they maxed us out at 20 days.
Speaker A: I think it's too much.
Speaker B: 384 hours.
Speaker A: Now divide that by eight. Yeah.
Speaker B: Oh man, you're asking me to do math? I don't have my paper and cranes with me, bro.
Speaker A: Well let's see. 320, that's 40 days and then another 64, that's eight. So 48 days, that's just a little over two months workday.
Speaker B: Good deal. Yeah, you definitely had more than we had so. Yeah, cuz we maxed out a 200 hours so.
Speaker A: Which was 20 days because I was
Speaker B: doing 10 hour shifts so.
Speaker A: Good deal. Yeah, I could actually go in I guess now and say well you know what, I've changed my mind. I want to, I want to just go on vacation for the rest of my time and I could.
Speaker B: Yeah, but then you want to be able to cash out your, your remainder, would you?
Speaker A: That's very true. And I want the money. I, I figured it out and yeah, I couldn't buy a new car with the check that I'd get for my vacation. But I could, I think I could get a pretty decent used car. Yeah, you could get a decent used
Speaker B: car or put down a pretty good down payment for a new one.
Speaker A: Not ever buying a new car ever again. I did buy a new car when I was in Germany but that made sense. I'm sorry, excuse me. I had to put on the brakes
Speaker B: real quickly
Speaker A: because when I was in Germany the exchange rate from dollars to marks was, it was phenomenal. So I ended up buying a new car for a third less than I could have bought it in the States.
Speaker B: Oh nice. Yeah, I don't think, honestly, I think the newest car I ever bought it was still three years old and had thousand miles on them. So I'm right there with you. I don't buy new cars, you know, much due to the fact that first of all interest rates on, well no interest rates on newer cars have dropped. So it's actually not that bad. However, you depreciate 30 when your front tires hit the, hit the roadway and it's like it's not worth it.
Speaker A: No, it is definitely not worth it. What I'll probably end up doing is, and we probably discussed this before, probably end up going to Enterprise Rent a car sale and get something from them. They have decent prices and decent vehicles. W E6A X N repeater.
Speaker B: There you go. Yeah, I've never got anything for them. What I usually do is I go on to a website called Car Use because you can put in what kind of car you want, what price range you want, how far away from Your local area you're willing to go and it'll, it'll drop everything that the dealerships have, you know, and it's, that's actually how I found my, my utility was on car gurus
Speaker A: not quite hearing, I hear cars, I'm not quite getting what the last part of that is.
Speaker B: Gurus. G U R U S Gurus.
Speaker A: Oh, okay. All right. Yeah, I know My, my daughter bought her last car through enterprise and my in laws always used to buy their cars from a rental rental car. Used. And they were always good ours. And they're, they're not the, they're not the best price in the world, but they're, they're a good price, you know, and they've been maintained. The only thing is, you know, when they, when they buy their, their fleets, you know, they're all options of the same. So, you know, you're going to get a car with a, a smaller engine, electric windows, electric door locks, air conditioning. I don't remember whether my daughter's has got a navigation system on it. I think so. And you know, you never get. Oopsie talking too much. You never get, you know, premium, A premium car, but, you know, I don't want a premium car.
Speaker B: Exactly. Yeah. Well, actually all of the, the rentals, I think from 2015 and newer, I believe all of them come with navigation now.
Speaker A: But yeah, they're, they're, they're, they're fleet
Speaker B: cars, you know, so like you said, you know, they're not premium, but they got the, the bare necessities for comfort and which isn't bad and you get a decent price on them. So my first, first vehicle I bought after I got married, which was my 2000 Blazer, that one was, you know, that was a previous fleet. You know, we're not fleet, but it was a previous rental and that thing was in really good condition when we bought it.
Speaker A: Yeah, the Impala that we got was a, I think it was a leased vehicle originally. It started out life as a leased vehicle and the woman to which, you know, the woman that had was assigned the leased vehicle by her company, then got an opportunity to buy it and then we bought it from her.
Speaker B: Oh, there you go. But so yeah, I'm fully with you. I'll never buy a brand new vehicle. First of all, we got too many quirks. At least after somebody owns it for three, four years, they get all the recalls done and fix all the stuff that, you know, shouldn't be breaking but, you know, does. So but if it's a new vehicle, Then you're the one that has to be out of a car when it goes to the shop and all that.
Speaker A: Yes, yes. So let's see. I'm on Star Drive. I'm looking since I'm on my way home. Anyway, I just got reminded that Sutter, there's a Sutter Olive Oil Company and it's here in apparently Yuba City. There's a. There's a storefront for them and I thought on my way home I might as well see if I could find them. Oh, there you go.
Speaker B: That's on the game plan. But, but yeah, I'm currently. I don't know what I think I'm westbound on 70 headed towards Bright Dam. 60 NYPer ID coming into Hallwood.
Speaker A: So I tell. I saw in the paper that they're going to be putting up another traffic light there somewhere for, for all the trucks, for the gravel trucks there. What's the name of that street? City, I think. Yes sir.
Speaker B: Yeah, they got a light at Kitty now and it is now operational. So I've been watching, you know, driving through there for the last couple months. They were putting it up but it's. They got it up and running now.
Speaker A: Yeah. Okay, so interesting. The. The address for the olive oil store is not. I've just pulled up on it and it says something about solar has nothing to do with olive oil. I guess I'll have to call them and ask them.
Speaker B: Where are you guys?
Speaker A: Actually, Yeah, if their address is taking
Speaker B: you to a solar company, there's a problem I think. Don't quote me on this, but I think they may have moved it actually back out.
Speaker A: The stutter.
Speaker B: I'm not sure.
Speaker A: Well then Google is inaccurate.
Speaker B: Oh, I've been finding a lot of inaccuracies with Google lately. It's actually kind of scary.
Speaker A: And it's like you had a double
Speaker B: there on you, Chris. N60NY
Speaker A: I was gonna say it's all that AI. Yes sir.
Speaker B: Yes sir. And if there was a double out there with Chris, go ahead.
Speaker A: Are you looking for a better Beef
Speaker B: Olive Oil company
Speaker A: looking for this door? Yeah, That would be a yes. If you're responding, you're extremely faint. Oh, thanks for the signal report there.
Speaker B: I'll look into that.
Speaker A: So do you know where this store is? It's on Pool in between Stabler and Sarp. Well, I was just on Pool and did not see.
Speaker C: It's closed until Tuesday at 8:30.
Speaker A: Oh, that's okay. But I still haven't found it.
Speaker C: Good luck.
Speaker A: Thank you and good morning. You should have come out for the tractor drive
Speaker C: and now that you've been. I heard you mention that the other day. And anyway, there was. When I worked at the bowling alley about eight years ago, there was a guy that was a regular that drove a tractor from, I don't know, they. Throughout multiple counties on this run. I don't think that has anything to do with it. Does it?
Speaker A: Kind of makes me wish that I had a tractor to play with.
Speaker C: As you can have it. I. When I worked at Beaver Tractor here in Calusa years ago, they had me take vehicle and apparatus down to the fairground, which isn't too far, just those jogs down highway pointing for the farm show. And I don't think they liked the way I was doing it or whatever because as the day went on, the tractors got progressively smaller. And here I am driving one of those old Honeyson lawn mowers, John Deere's down the highway. You can have all the tractors you want.
Speaker A: Okay. All right, what else? Okay, I. Maybe I was on the wrong road. Silly me.
Speaker A: Go down a parallel street here. All right, gents, I'm going to start picking fencing real bad here in just about a minute. So I'm going to go off and start monitoring. I'll say 73 to all Y', all. And y' all have a good one. And six DNY monitoring.

Speaker C: Yeah, actually, we're still on the run. We've got about a half an hour left, probably about three or four miles, something like that.
Speaker B: Just calling Chris. He was here earlier today and
Speaker C: I told him I'd give a phone when we were getting close to the finish, but he must not have his radio on.
Speaker B: Yeah, well, hopefully he'll. Maybe he'll get on in time to hear you out there and get the word, but. Yeah. Well, looks like a pretty nice day for it. A lot of blossoms still out out there.
Speaker C: Yep, yep, it's beautiful out here. Yeah. A little bit chilly on the back side of the buttes on the west butte side, but not bad. It's been pretty warm most of the rides and. Say we're kind of on the home stretch now, but. Yeah, Chris is supposed to meet us up about noon up at the park.
Speaker B: Oh, that sounds nice. Yeah. Okay, well, have a good run and for the day, I'll talk to you later. W6P and H.

I assume they're gathering at the park there, but he thought that'd be about noon, so. I don't know if you ever got that message.
Speaker A: I did not, but as a matter of fact, I'm heading out. I'm on my way out to Sutter now.
Speaker C: Okay. Yeah, I expect he'll be there. He. He thought they were about a half hour away. When I talked to him, they were still on the drive, so. Yeah, it's probably a good time in.
Speaker A: I'm assuming that's Bud. Go ahead. Yeah. Hey, Chris. Yeah, we just. Just got here just a few minutes ago. So we're here now. All right. I'm actually almost. Well, let me see. Yeah, I'm probably a couple of miles out, but, yeah, I'll see you there. Okay. We got a table reserved out here. We're out close to the road, next to the almond orchard towards the high school area. You'll see us out here if you want to have lunch.
Speaker B: All right,
Speaker A: see you soon. KK6VZV. Clear. And, Paul, thanks for the. For the info. Yeah. Okay, we'll save

We got it back at my house now, so we got them all back home. Good deal. Good deal. That's what I like to hear. Yeah, I was hoping to be out there this morning. That way I could, you know, either play, you know, tail gunner or whatnot. But I ended up having to go up to inglebrates and do a fuel rescue on one of our guards that decided to take a car that didn't have enough gas in them. Yeah, that didn't work out too good, did it? Yeah, I thought maybe I'd see you out there easier. Well, I tried. Unfortunately, it was a new guy, his first day on shift and didn't realize that, you know, hey, pound on the door until we wake up. However, we need to wake up for the gas car, so.
Speaker B: But yeah,
Speaker A: so I had to go up, give him some gas and. Yeah, that was a fun endeavor. Did I hear you say you're headed to Woodland? Yeah, actually, I'm headed out to Walnut Creek. I'm just headed towards Woodland. Oh, I'm going out to the Bay Area for To work tonight and tomorrow. Oh, that sounds like fun. You're gonna stay over, sir? Yeah, I'm gonna stay. Stay in Walnut Creek in a hotel out there. Is there an adventure? What? And now we actually, we've got a contract with a church out there. And then we've got two synagogues all in the nap area that we work. So I drew the. Drew the straw to get the church in Walnut
Speaker B: Creek. That should be extra duty pay there.
Speaker A: That's what I'm saying. I wish I'd pay us for the travel out there. Okay, that's an hour and 54 minutes on the clock that I would love to be paid for. Yeah, that's
Speaker B: too bad. Yeah, she'd pay you for that.
Speaker A: Yeah. Well, I'm also making them put gas in my truck and get me hotel rooms, so. Guess I can't complain too much.
Speaker B: All right, well, we're gonna put these
Speaker A: tractors away here and
Speaker B: I
Speaker A: gotta take Chris back down to get his car, so I'll talk with you later. Just heard you on there, so that shout out. So see you have a good winner. 73t and I'll be clear. 73 and I'm glad you guys had a good run. So stay Safe out there. And 60 NY mobile.

Speaker B: Good to go. You have a lot of.
Speaker A: Which one did you drive? I want to say it was a Massey Ferguson.
Speaker B: Good deal.
Speaker A: That's a good tractor to drive. Yeah. Interesting. I didn't realize. Well, I guess it was a diesel, so was. It was fuel injection, so that makes sense. Diesel fuel injection.
Speaker C: Yeah. There he is, sir.
Speaker A: So good deal.
Speaker B: Well, did you at least have fun with it?
Speaker A: I did, actually. I was looking around it and somebody was selling a really nice, nicely restored. It was a track drive tractor. Not a really big one, but very nicely restored. Selling it for $7,000, and I'm sitting there thinking, oh, that would make a nice toy. And $7,000. I think it was worth that. Definitely
Speaker B: easy. I've been thinking about eventually getting myself one of those Ford 9N a little gasoline tractor. So that's when I first started working out on the farm at Kelly's farm back in New York. At 9 years old, that's what I drove around Everywhere was that Ford 9at thing was a.
Speaker A: It was a workhorse.
Speaker B: Not the most powerful, but it got the job done.
Speaker A: Yeah, I can. I can see me doing, you know, playing around with a tractor, you know, on my spare time. Now that I'll have spare time.
Speaker C: Yeah.
Speaker A: Don't know where I'd put it.
Speaker C: We would find a place for them.
Speaker B: I just had a Going northbound. I just had a 1971 Barracuda and a 1969 Dodge Charger, both olive green. That was an awesome sight because they were running nose to tail.
Speaker A: Oh, nice. You said a Charger and a Challenger, right?
Speaker B: Charger and 71 Tudor.
Speaker A: Okay. Challenger by another name,
Speaker C: A sir.
Speaker A: You know, when here, when Dodge came out with the retro Challenger, what was it? What is that 10 years or so ago? I looked at that and I thought, you know, all these other car companies that have done retro of their muscle cars. I looked at the Challenger and said, that is spot on.
Speaker C: Yeah, Ford. Ford didn't do too bad with their.
Speaker B: Neither did Chevy with the Camaro and the Mustang. But Dodge nailed it. You know, going back to the recessed grille and the way they did it was just phenomenal.
Speaker A: Yeah, I like the Mustang and I think the Challenger, they got just right. Kind of disagree on the Camaro.
Speaker C: Yeah.
Speaker A: Did not look like the original Camaro. You know, it looked like kind of like the original Camaro, but they now I, I say butched it up and some people understand what I mean by that. I don't know. Made it look too manly, I guess. It's probably a way to put it.
Speaker C: Yeah, I can see that.
Speaker B: What's your, what's your opinion on the. The newer Ford Bronco? Not the Bronco Sport, but the, the other one. The one that's actually off road rated.
Speaker A: What is it? I. I don't know. That I know. Yeah.
Speaker C: So I think it was three years ago now. Three or four years. Released the Sport Bronco and they made it, they retroed it just like they did with the Mustang to make it
Speaker B: look more like the 67 and 65 model. So I think it's 65, but it's got kind of the old school look to it.
Speaker A: I like that. I think they did something weird with the headlights where they put the light bar right through the middle of the, the headlight circle. I thought that was kind of strange and I, I definitely do not appreciate the four door models because the original Bronco was not a four door.
Speaker C: Thank you. Somebody else just like the four door Jeep.
Speaker B: Why do we have a Jeep Wrangler
Speaker A: that's a four door?
Speaker C: It's the first time in history it should not happen. Yeah.
Speaker A: Yeah. Well, if they wanted to do that then they should have made it look like a four door Jeep wagon. Exactly.
Speaker C: Make it look more like the old Wagoneer.
Speaker A: Yeah. Well, you know, so that's purist.
Speaker C: Yeah.
Speaker A: I'd like to see somebody do a retro AMC Javelin. That'd be cool.
Speaker B: That would be awesome. A retro Javelin amx.
Speaker C: Oh yeah.
Speaker B: I'm on board with that.
Speaker C: Oh yeah.
Speaker A: You know, I was. What was it? It was Mark Donahue that raced those. Right. It was quite a thing that AMC was entering AMXs with Mark Donahue driving and they were winning races.
Speaker B: Oh yeah, they're dominating.
Speaker C: I mean that too. You know, you get a small car like that, you wedge a big block V8 in it the way they did.
Speaker B: You know, it's got to tear itself up.
Speaker C: Oh yeah.
Speaker A: You know, this, this tractor event wasn't exactly what I expected, but I'm glad that I went and I'm glad that I went back. I went out when they, you know, when they, when they started out in their ride around the buttes and after they left high school to high school, I went home, but Bud had told me they were going to be back at noon and have raffles and lunch and games and things like that. I was sitting at home and I, and I was like should you, you know, are you gonna go back or not? And I finally said, you know what? You're going. So I had a good time,
Speaker B: Good deal.
Speaker C: Yeah, I. I got back to the house shortly after we got done talking on the radio and went in, got ready for, you know, headed out for
Speaker B: the Bay Area, and then I left the house.
Speaker C: I actually got back in the truck
Speaker B: just as bug was calling you, letting you know that they were about three miles out.
Speaker A: Well, now, yeah, I gotta figure out what I'm gonna do with my time when I don't have to go to work.
Speaker C: You gotta find a hobby. You gotta keep yourself busy. You know that.
Speaker A: I just drove by a Honda Pilot, an all white Honda Pilot. And there's a, you know, a badge on the back that says black edition.
Speaker B: But it's all white.
Speaker A: Except for the trim. Like, what is that supposed to mean? You got an all white honor that says black edition?
Speaker C: Maybe it's just heavy and identical.
Speaker B: Wow.
Speaker C: English in identity crisis. That's what I'm trying to say.
Speaker B: Yeah.
Speaker A: I don't know. I don't know. Oh, well. So, yeah, sounds like you're going to be busy the next couple of days.
Speaker B: Yeah, I don't have a day off until Thursday.
Speaker A: Where are they putting you up?
Speaker C: I'm not sure where.
Speaker A: I think they're putting me in a
Speaker C: Best Western in Congress.
Speaker A: Okay. Yeah, one of my temp jobs. I ended up spending a couple of weeks in San Francisco. So they put us up in San Francisco. That was kind of neat. Drove down there on like Sunday afternoon, got to the hotel, the. Who is it called? Took my car and they found a, you know, parked it in a parking garage somewhere nearby because the hotel didn't have parking itself and I didn't have my car until I was going to leave. We just walked there everywhere. W6AXM receiver.
Speaker C: The answer is, sir. Yeah, I. Well, I worked out in San Francisco twice. So far it was pretty much the same thing.
Speaker B: You know, put my car in the
Speaker C: garage and then I. I took public transportation everywhere in uniform.
Speaker B: I was like, you know, why, why bother pulling my car out wasting gas? Cuz this goes right where I need to go.
Speaker A: Yes, very true, very true. Looks like somebody's got a futon stuck out front with a free sign on it. But it doesn't look like they have a mattress.
Speaker C: Just a fr. Oh, good deal. All right, well, I'm about ready to jump on, on the 80, so I
Speaker B: want to be running into some traffic
Speaker C: here in a minute. So I'm gonna say seven, three, for now, and I'm gonna go to monitoring, so that's 69.
Speaker A: Okay. I'm pretty much almost all the way home anyway, so. Well, I have. Enjoy your time in the Bay Area there, and we'll talk to you later. 73 KK6VZD, clear.
