Speaker B: Yeah, I hear you out there, Paul. You're a bit staticky and not terribly loud. Good evening. Are you on? Are you home?
Speaker A: How's this?
Speaker B: Better?
Speaker A: Okay. The HD was on low power. I bumped it up. I'm doing all right. I'm glad today's work day is over. It was just real busy. I felt like a waiter at a restaurant.
Speaker B: Yeah, I can't say I was overly busy, but, you know, just little things that they, they keep changing. Just, just, you know, emphasize the fact that I'm glad I'm leaving.
Speaker A: Yeah, it sure sounds like. It sounds like they're turning things upside down and not something you'd want to continue to partake of willingly.
Speaker B: I'm not exactly sure I quite understand it, but there's some new scheme that they've got to go take care of. Service requests. Our old scheme was that there was somebody dedicated to, to our major locations and they were stationed there and they, you know, had made relationships with the people there and knew fairly thoroughly what was going on. We dropped. Now they've pulled everybody back to the government center and our just randomly assigning tickets to people just as a first come, first serve basis. You know, I guess it, it's like a rotation. Somebody gets a ticket and then the next open person gets a ticket and then the next person gets a ticket and, you know, so you have to. Half the time I, I look at what I got and I said, I haven't the slightest idea what to do. And I think it's the same way with everybody else.
Speaker A: It sure sounds like a mess there. Our IT departments in the county, they're in more central locations and they come over to our main office every day because they still put out some kind of data. Physical tape. Yeah, they have physical tapes that they switch out every day and whatnot. Other than that, I don't really see them unless I call them. And it's usually for some. Hey, can you add this printer or whatever? So I don't know how they do their ticketing thing, but seems to be better than that. But I'm not. I can't speak for the work site.
Speaker B: Be interesting to see the difference in. In operation between the two sounds. Well, I don't know. I can't say. We used to have pretty much everything based on local servers. And in the past few years they've gone and thrown everything towards the cloud, everything including backups, which means they don't have to do the tape roundup like it sounds like your guys are still doing.
Speaker A: The only problem is when that person that owns the cloud decides that they're gonna. Or they're gonna get hacked. Not that they're going to get hacked, but probably when. Hopefully not. Actually one of the. One of our IT or information technology specialists is in. What they call him is a ham. I don't know, he might be listening. I don't have his call sign written down in that word somewhere, but yeah, that was kind of cool to find out.
Speaker B: Yeah, I ran into a ham from Sacramento the other day at church. Found out that he's in. He's. He's in broadcasting. And it's like, well, you're the first must be a ham if you're in broadcasting. But he just doesn't do much with it. He said he's been a ham, oh, I don't know, for about 20, maybe a little bit more than that, years now. But like, well, okay.
Speaker A: Probably got it just so he can say he has it and use it when he wants, but probably doesn't like getting on the radio when he's been on the radio at work all day.
Speaker B: Oh, yes. Oh, yes. Well. Well, I, I got choir practice tonight and I've just arrived, so I gotta find myself a parking spot and get myself inside. So I will talk to you later. Have a good evening and we'll catch you later. 73 KK6VZV clear.

Speaker B: I just spent the last hour with your kids looking at. Looking for a spot for a repeater.
Speaker A: Come back again? I didn't quite catch all that.
Speaker B: Sorry. I just spent the last hour with Jeff looking for a spot for a repeater for a school.
Speaker A: Well,
Speaker B: that's
Speaker A: very cool. Yeah. How'd you guys do?
Speaker B: I think you got it dialed in.
Speaker A: Oh, well, that's cool. I didn't know he was working on a project, but that sounds like it's right up his alley, too.
Speaker B: Yeah, they're having some coverage issues at one of the schools and we're going to fix it with a nice little repeater.
Speaker A: Oh, well, that's cool. I'll be glad to see how that project gets done and everything. Yeah, thanks for reaching out. Are you guys going to be on a. On a tower somewhere or what did you find?
Speaker B: No, we're just going to use one of the racks inside the school and just punch up through the roof with a weather head and put it up there. It doesn't have to cover a large area and I'm probably only going to run about 25 watts.
Speaker A: Very interesting. Yeah, well, that's cool. So I'll ask Jeff about that and see. Let me
Speaker C: drop here. Okay. I had a timer
Speaker A: reminding me I've got some soup on I need to check, but. Yeah, go ahead.
Speaker B: Hey, you go and deal with that. I just wanted to let you know that I met up with him and had a good conversation and he asked if I knew you and I said absolutely. I know I know him.
Speaker A: Yeah, you guys have probably been at a fox hunt together or something. I remember that day you gave me a tour around your truck. He might have been there in the park, but anyway. Yeah, well, thanks for. Thanks for letting me know. I enjoyed hearing about that. Okay, well, I'll talk to you soon. W6P NH
