And good evening to you jeff and ko6bgy. Good evening paul and thank you for the check in tonight. Do we have any additional check ins to the map? This w7x ray zulu.

Speaker A: Yeah, nothing heard. Might be a short session tonight here but go to the roundtable mode K6HFP. John you're leading off and from you It'll go to KB9 my F. Jeff you'll be passing it to Paul Ko6BGY. So John go ahead. K6HFP and the Nat W7XZ W7X Ray
Speaker B: Zulu in the Net. This is John up in Orville. K6HFP Week kind of flew by for me. Was surprised to see the spring like almost summer like weather this week. It was nice up here. I actually I was surprised to see one lightning flash to the north tonight. So I guess there's some, some weather moving to our north there but definitely nothing down our way so. But anyways as far as radio stuff goes, nothing on the air for me this week but just been trying to keep up and keep extra studies fresh
Speaker A: in my mind so.
Speaker B: So just been hammering out the tests and quizzes and stuff and hopefully be ready in a couple weeks. Get my extra upgrade and I'll be done with that. So that's kind of all that I've been up to. The zoom kind of flew by tonight so Zoom zoomed for sure. That was a quick one but that's all I got. Hope everybody's doing good. Pass it over Jeff. KB9 MYF in the net. K6HFP.
Speaker A: Well not really anything going on. Thank you Jeff.
Speaker B: You were a bit scratchy on my end with you and you didn't have
Speaker A: much else to pass on. Thank you.
Speaker B: Other than that not much else.
Speaker A: So we'll go ahead. Okay. 06BGY on the Nat W7X Ray Zulu. Okay Paul. Well I am going to put out a bit of a QST here anyway for anyone monitoring the frequency or the Oroville Amateur Radio Society will be hosting a VE session. Paul and Carl are coming up from Yuba City to Oroville for examinations license examinations on Friday the 13th of the month at our usual venue which is the parish hall of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the address on that is 14301430 Pine street in Oroville. And any prospect of licensees or any current licensees seeking up to grade are most welcome to make their appearance there. We anticipate starting the exam session there at 6pm that night. Doors will be open about 5:30 for setting up and that's about it from there and well let's see, I'll put out a call here. Do we have any additional check in to the net? It's W7X rays of them. Nothing heard kind of a quiet night of it. Run it back up the line. Does any station have any additional comments for the net? This is W7XZ. Go ahead john. Right on. Okay, John, I'm getting the feeling there might be a problem there on the receive antennas side down there on the repeater. Don't know for sure here, but everyone a little bit scratchy tonight. Anyway, I think I'll forego the 10 meter attempt tonight. And anyway, with that I'm going to put out a last call for any late check ins or any unfinished business before we close the net as W7XZ. Nothing Heard that was short and sweet. Thanks to all who checked in this evening. This net will convene again at 8pm local time this coming Sunday evening. This is W7X Ray Zulu signing the Oroville Amateur Radio Society Sunday night. Net clear. And good evening to all.

Speaker A: Standing line.

Speaker A: Kk6bzd mobile.
Speaker B: Is that you, chris?
Speaker A: Is. It is.
Speaker B: Well, good morning. How are you? This IS radio station November 6th, India Whiskey Hotel.
Speaker A: Oh, wow. W E6A X N repeater. Oh, I'm doing all right. It's another Monday, but it's a really nice sunny one.
Speaker B: And only 27 days and nine hours left.
Speaker A: Oh, yes. Oh, yes. I actually got to thinking about it. I think it's time to start clearing out my things from work. When I have some free time. I think I'm going to start emptying my desk and do it, you know, not last minute.
Speaker B: Yeah, get some of those, you know, bins or some banker's boxes and, you know, put your clock in there. The calendar, your appointment book.
Speaker A: Never believed in appointment book. And my calendar is already on my computer, so I don't need that. And they haven't given me a clock yet. Although I think that's. It's interesting. I had. I am now in my 21st year, or I have completed 21 years of service with the. With the county. They give you a recognition for 20 years. Well, that was last year. Well, they're finally getting around to recognizing me for 20 years of service and I get a clock.
Speaker B: I don't mean to laugh, but isn't this kind of comical? They're giving you a clock?
Speaker A: Well, I forget what the other choices were. I think they gave me three choices. You know, I could get this, this, or this, or I could have opted for nothing. And I looked at it. It's like, no, they're gonna give me something. And the one that made the most sense was with a small desk clock. Although I don't really need it and I'll probably give it away.
Speaker B: Yeah, somebody who wants to keep track of time, that's what they need. You know, they should just give you a severance package, a big check. I mean, if you were an executive in a corporation, you would probably be walking away with $5 million, laughing, on your way to the bank.
Speaker A: Yeah. And that's for those guys that didn't do a good job.
Speaker B: Oh, slackers. You know, they give people rewards. Oh. You know, outstanding employee of the year. Well, they give one to the slackers also. What does that tell them? Oh, hey, just go ahead and do what you're doing. You'll get an award.
Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Or the ones that they really want to replace. So they encourage them to leave by giving them a lot of money. Get out. Here's the money. Get out.
Speaker B: Well, either retire early or we're gonna fire you. Go Ahead. What do you want?
Speaker A: I guess I'm not going to think about that. Yeah, my son sent my wife. I don't know why he didn't send it to me. A video of my grandson who almost won. And that was kind of fun to watch. First time I've ever seen a picture of him with teeth in his head. And I think it's only the second time I've seen a video of him crawling. It's kind of fun. Yeah.
Speaker B: Grandchildren. I like them. Well, not all, but, you know. And where do they live? Are you going to go and see the boy or what?
Speaker A: Yeah, they live in Cameron Park. I was just thinking about that this morning, that I'll have time to just
Speaker B: bip on down there in the middle of the week.
Speaker A: Now my son will be working, but you know, go down there and see my daughter in law and my grandson for a couple of hours. I don't think that they would be asking too much.
Speaker B: Well, the dialogue for your wife, your son's wife would be, could you please ask your father not to spend so much time around here when I've got work to do.
Speaker A: Make it a bribe. I'll offer to take her to lunch or something.
Speaker B: Take you to lunch? Hey, well, these days, you know, that can be. I mean, the cheapest that you can survive would be $30.
Speaker A: I know, isn't it ridiculous? I went out the other morning to get some. Let's see, there's a local restaurant, they have a chicken fried steak and eggs, breakfast and coffee. And after the tip, I walked out of there. It was like $25.
Speaker B: Oh, tell me about it. I took a friend over to McDonald's, he said everything's on sale, man. You get a breakfast? I didn't get one, but I did get a Senior coffee for $2.50.
Speaker A: A senior coffee? Did they put some ice in it to make it not quite so hot so you wouldn't hurt yourself when you're trying to drink it?
Speaker B: They did something to it. It wasn't all that good, but you know, it was warm and put a little milk in there. Although I, you know, I don't like those little containers of instant cream or whatever they give you. You know, you peel the top off and you pour that in there. That's got to be some nasty stuff.
Speaker A: Yeah, well, I'm not a fan of McDonald's coffee either. It's too strong, it's too bitter, it's too hot. The times that I actually, you know, end up having some, I tell them to give me a, A Medium sized coffee in a large cup so I can add some ice and water to it, you know, so it's not quite so strong and it's not as hot.
Speaker B: Hey, well, what about these places? Starbucks and, you know, all those coffee joints. People are telling me a cup of coffee is $5.
Speaker A: Yeah, I know, I know. I'm not a fan of Starbucks either. I don't, I don't like, I don't like. Their coffee, to me, tastes like brewed charcoal.
Speaker B: Well, you must be an expert. How do you brew your coffee?
Speaker A: At home, Somebody gave my wife a small Keurig machine, but we have these little plastic or it's a steel strainer. It's a steel K cup. You use your own coffee for it. So I have my own coffee that I like the taste of and put it in this pod, this reusable pod and use that machine.
Speaker B: Well, I like brewed coffee. I had been using a Mr. Coffee, but it didn't really seem to brew correctly. So now what I'm doing is boiling some water in a pan and pouring it through a big strainer, you know, that you put on top of the pot. That tastes a little better, but I don't know. The world is not perfect.
Speaker A: Well, you need, you need one of those old glass Pyrex percolators that you put on the stove like my parents had when I was young, that filled the whole house with the aroma of coffee.
Speaker B: I remember those. There was a song also on the top 40 at the same time, percolating. And they'd always show the picture of this percolator. But you know, I wonder about the physics of putting hot water in on the coffee. It's separating the flavor from the coffee residue, the beans, whatever. But what about when you come back after 30 seconds and pour more water into that mixture? Are you getting more coffee or just hot water?
Speaker A: I don't know. W E6A X N repeater. I don't know. I don't know. I don't think you can buy them new, but I was looking for that. Those Pyrex percolators on ebay and man, they're like 40 bucks huge.
Speaker B: Does your wife drink coffee?
Speaker A: She does. She does what they call a pour over where she puts a filter in this funnel, puts the coffee in there, puts the funnel on top of her mug, and then pours water over the top of the coffee in the funnel.
Speaker B: Yeah, basically that's what I'm doing in a little pot. But I'm wondering if there's a better way. Maybe the percolator is the way to go.
Speaker A: I don't know. I don't know. All right, hey, I've destinated, so I'm
Speaker B: gonna go in, start the first day
Speaker A: of my fourth to last week. And so have a great day and make yourself a cup of coffee and we'll talk you later. 73 KK6EZD clearance.
Speaker B: Okay, Chris, have a good day. FX iWhere.
