WD6AXM TX (146.085 MHz) recordings for 2026-03-14

Kk6bzb mobile. And another work week behind us. WP6AXM repeater.

Speaker A: Ko6bgy monitoring.
Speaker B: Within
Speaker C: about a quarter mile of my house. There
Speaker A: you go. Yeah. See, I didn't realize that I didn't have any radios on in the house. And I got home and put away the groceries and whatnot, and I'm like, wait, I haven't heard Chris on there yet, but happy Friday.
Speaker C: Yes, yes, Happy Friday. Ten working days, two weeks. Yahoo.
Speaker A: Home stretch now, that's for sure. I'm sure you never thought you'd be seeing that come up as quick as it has. Kind of gets lost until you would get right up there on it.
Speaker C: Yeah, you're right. You're right. Yeah. I've already started to parse out my parcel out. Parcel out. The things, you know, that I've got in the drawers at work that I'm not going to need anymore. Started giving them out to some of the other guys. Started taking. I've got a couple of boxes in the back of my truck of my stuff that's going home with me. So by the time, you know, I get to my last day, all I'll have to do is I'll start reimaging my computer and walk out the door. Oh, after handing in my telephone and my badge.
Speaker A: Yeah, you won't. You won't be sad to see that badge go, I'll tell you that much. It's funny, though. It's in the line of work I've got going. I've taken people to court. And here, at least here in Calista County. Oh, hey, the client has to put their stuff in the bucket. But if you have one of these county ID badges on you, come on through. Like, that's not good.
Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, I know. Come in past security, go right around the metal gate. And I gotta tell you, I don't mind that.
Speaker A: I don't mind going through the security checkpoint. That's what it's intended for. I mean, some people don't mind going around. It is what it is. But personally, I believe, like, if you're checking everybody. Check everybody.
Speaker C: Yes, yes. Well, I'm in my driveway. Part is the. The engine is shut off. Now all I got to do is say good evening, close the door and go, go in. So, good evening, 73. Have a great weekend. We'll talk to you later. Kk6vzd. Clear.
Speaker B: Wp6axm receiver.
Speaker A: Kk6vzd. Ko6vgy73. Good weekend. Talk to you probably Monday morning. Ko6y I'll be clear.

Go ahead. Oh, man, I stepped on that. But I heard it's an audit. You were sending me something.

K6hfp monitor, wp6axm repeater.

Speaker A: I grabbed the wrong radio to say hi. KN6GTM.
Speaker B: Hey, Ernie. Yeah, I don't ID much on the repeater off net hours, but I'm always monitoring.
Speaker A: So. Are you mobile?
Speaker B: Negative at the qth.
Speaker A: Is the test session over with?
Speaker B: I think so. I. They might have had the laptop still active when I. When I took off, but there was nobody testing. Everybody was already done. We were supposed to have six, and I think four showed up. Not sure if anybody got there after I took off, but I think it was four out of six.
Speaker A: So the big question is, did you pass?
Speaker B: Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
Speaker A: Now you make me jealous.
Speaker B: I was trying to get you to study.
Speaker A: I'll tell you what. The way my last three weeks have been, I'm. I just, you know, I did not have that luxury.
Speaker B: I know how it is. I know you're a busy dude. Believe it or not, I was. I was busier than average the whole time I was studying, too, so I was only able to squeak in some study time every once in a while, but it was enough. So I'm glad I'm over and done with.
Speaker A: Well, I may just have to do this myself one of these days, but. Yeah, that's. Congratulations. Good deal.
Speaker B: Right on. Thank you. I appreciate that. And I met Wade. Wade was up there, so I got to meet Wade face to face. I knew Paul and Carla already, and Devin and her husband were there, so I knew them already, but first time I met Wade, so that was good to meet him.
Speaker A: Yeah, very good. Glad I heard him talking about coming up. I didn't know if he was going to make it or not.
Speaker B: He was there, and Joe and Bennett and Jim and Gary, and there's a couple other. Couple other bodies there and of course, the three other guys testing.
Speaker A: Okay, well, now you have. You have to get yourself a rig now and get on the air.
Speaker B: Well, believe it or not, I already have my HF rig. It's. It's the antenna getting the antennas up is the problem. Okay.
Speaker A: Yeah. Might have to do what.
Speaker B: What.
Speaker A: What Mike did down there and have a remote station. That way your antennas wouldn't have to be there on top of the hill with you.
Speaker B: Yeah, there's definitely ways I should be able to get a wire up and. And be able to get on hf. The ultimate goal is to get the wire up and feed the feed line into the house so I don't have to set up outside every time I want to use hf.
Speaker A: Okay, copy that. Yeah, we're just getting off the lake, heading down the hill.
Speaker B: Here. Excellent. How did you do?
Speaker A: Not very good. Myron caught the only fish we caught tonight, so it was pretty poor.
Speaker B: Oh, man. I guess the fish were watching the sunset.
Speaker A: I hadn't thought about that, but maybe that's what happened. We were either not at the right place, not using the right lure, not holding their mouth right. You know, the usual excuses the fishermen have.
Speaker B: No, I. Yep, I hear you, I hear you. It's always their fault, for sure, 100%. But maybe they just weren't hungry tonight. You never know.
Speaker A: And I don't know if the cloud cover had something to do with it or not.
Speaker B: It was.
Speaker A: It was. But anyhow, either way, we'll keep trying until the bite is on it. The water's still a little cold, so they're not real active, but I figured they'd be maybe a little more active than what we saw tonight.
Speaker B: Yeah, copy that. I didn't even think about the temperature. I'm sure. I'm sure that probably has a lot to do with it, I would think, right?
Speaker A: Yeah, it usually does. So get that water 5 degrees warmer than what it is now, and there should be some activity.
Speaker B: Right on. Right on. So did you. Did you schedule your next fishing trip yet, or is it just up in the air? You'll go when you go?
Speaker A: Yeah, we wait until we can't stand it anymore and then we go.
Speaker B: That sounds about right.
Speaker A: All right, well, you have a good evening. Enjoy the rest of it. Probably a big relief to have this behind you and have to worry about studying anymore.
Speaker B: Absolutely. Yep. That's the biggest draw to getting it over and done with. So it's over and don't have to worry about it anymore. I'm good. Definitely a relief.
Speaker A: All right, copy that. Well, you have a good evening. We'll chat with you later. KN6GTM.
Speaker B: Sounds good, Ernie. Catch you after a while. And have a good one yourself. Good chat with you. We'll be listening here. K6HFP. K6hfp. Ko6bg. White. Hey, doing great. Happy Friday. Did I hear intermittently that you got your extra class? Affirmative. I did pass it tonight. Congratulations. That won't take up any more of your time, but definitely congratulations on that. I know you've been putting in a lot of the work and it did not go unseen and unnoticed, and you proved yourself wrong and you got it anyway. K06BGY. I'll be clear on your final 73. Right on, Paul. Yeah, thanks for that. And definitely it's a. It's a relief to get it over and done with. I'm. I'm stoked on it. So, hey, have a good one. We'll be listening here and we'll chat with you later. K6HFP.

Speaker A: Wa1ner.wa1ner.kv80 on the 085 machine.
Speaker B: We got you Adam. Go ahead. WA1 nerd.
Speaker A: Good evening, David. Yeah, sorry, sorry, didn't get to go out and have a soda with you today. I spent the day out running around and spent it with my in laws and they came back to the house and just got everything packed because we're leaving out bright and early in the morning.
Speaker B: What time you leaving in the morning, Adam?
Speaker A: 6:30 in the morning. Our flight takes off at 9am and we fly down to San Diego. We'll be down there for two hours and then off to Columbus.
Speaker B: A two hour layover down there, huh? Where do you, where do you fly in? In Los Angeles? No, you said San Diego, didn't you?
Speaker A: Yeah, San Diego and then from San Diego into John Glenn International in Columbus.
Speaker B: Surprised you're flying into San Diego. I never heard of hear of anybody ever flying into San Diego and then going back east.
Speaker A: That was one of the options of Southwest back to San Diego, which was kind of nice because man, usually when we leave we got to be on the plane and taking off at like 5:30 in the morning and so we're kind of nicer leaving a little bit later this time. That way we're not waking up at like 3 o' clock in the morning.
Speaker B: Yeah, I don't like those really early morning hour flights out.
Speaker A: I've done that before too.
Speaker B: Well, let's see. Are you gonna come back next year?
Speaker A: Hey Roger. Not sure if it'll be in March. We were really wanting to come back in May, but girls in college said that March worked out better for them than May did. But I'd like to come back in May next year.
Speaker B: That'll be nice too. Yeah, yeah. Did you say your boy's married?
Speaker A: Yeah, Carson. 2020. He moved from Yuba City to Memphis, or just on the outskirts of Memphis. And then about two months ago now, month ago he moved from Memphis over to one of the suburbs of Atlanta.
Speaker B: Okay, how old is he now?
Speaker A: He's 20. Let me see here. He's 27. He's 27 now.
Speaker B: Wow. Boy, the time's really flying by. Yeah, today a friend of mine stopped by, another friend of mine stopped over
Speaker A: and we visited for quite a little
Speaker B: while and it was right about noon too. And I was gonna give you a call and it just went right, slipped right by me. And I figured, well, he didn't call so he's probably been still busy. To him.
Speaker A: It seemed like the first half of the week went by really nice and slow. And then about Wednesday, man, it really picked up steam and seems like it's already over, you know. Can't believe it's already over. In fact, I forgot to call at 9 o' clock this morning and get us checked in. So we've got a little bit later boarding process starts off at pre board and group one and then on up from there. We got group three, which still isn't terrible, but southwest. All their seats are assigned anyway, so it doesn't matter what boarding group we're in. Just makes it a little bit nicer to get a little bit higher up in the numbers.
Speaker B: Roger that. What, did you rent a car out of Sacramento or did you have somebody pick you up?
Speaker A: Up. Now, my best friend from back home, he lives out here. He's the one that picked us up. And then my brother in law's taking us in the morning.
Speaker B: Friend. Oh, a friend of yours picked you up where? He lived back there, back in Ohio and, and then moved out here.
Speaker A: Yes, it was my best friend from Ohio. Met his wife out here and then that's how he ended up meeting my wife. It was his wife's best friend who I married. We're all good close friends.
Speaker B: Oh, okay. Well, yeah, with a big group you got, you're gonna need a big car to take you down to the airport.
Speaker A: Yeah, four. Four of us. A driver and our luggage. Yep, pickup trucks. That's how we did it.
Speaker B: Yeah, you'd have to have a king, big old king cab to push you around and bring all your luggage, huh?
Speaker A: Yes, sir. I just want to jump on here and apologize for today and tell you now, now that I got your name and number, I won't be a stranger. And let's go out and get that drink next year when I come back out.
Speaker B: Yeah, well, we got plenty of time. We're gonna be around for a long time. So are you.
Speaker A: Alrighty, sir. I wanted to want to tell you goodbye one last time before I packed the radio away. I brought the DMR radio. So the hot spot is already put away. All the, all the guys I talked to in Ohio, they're already in bed and asleep because it's coming up on midnight back there. I got the hotel spot packed away and just left us out for local 2 meter here.
Speaker B: You got to go back to work Monday.
Speaker A: NWA1 in the RKV8 view on portable. Roger. We get into Columbus at 9pm tomorrow night. And then I had to learn a hard lesson last year year. And the lesson that I learned last year Was to make sure I had a buffer day before I have to go back to work. So I took Sunday off and I go back in Monday night.
Speaker B: Oh, yeah, you need that buffer day, especially off you. You got to do so much on a vacation and where you. You don't realize how tired you are. But once you get on the move and go on vacation, it is go, go, go, and it's. It's non stop. Yeah.
Speaker A: What do they say? Need a vacation from my vacation?
Speaker B: No.
Speaker A: Last year we were flying from Sacramento into St. Louis. St. Louis had a tornado in the area of the airport and they really flew. Severe thunderstorm moved in. We had to. We went into a very small holding pattern and then had to divert to Memphis to get fuel. And then we were cleared to leave Memphis back to St. Louis and missed our connecting flight. It's been 12 hours that night in the St. Louis airport. It was not fun, that's for sure.
Speaker B: Well, okay, Adam, will you guys have a safe trip back down, back down to Sacramento and have a nice flight. I hope it ends well with you going back there and so you have a good one and say hi to the kids and the family there and we'll talk at you later. We're not going to say goodbye. We'll just tell you. See you later.
Speaker A: W E Z A X N repeater hey, it sounds good, David. You take care of yourself and anybody else out here listening. You guys take care and hopefully you don't have a doozy of a summer. We know what extremely hot and dry summers can lead up to. And if you ever hear of anybody on dmr haven't looked me up. It's pretty easy to do. Look up my call sign and get my DMR ID number and you can go direct with me any point in time and I'll keep my eyes out on anything happening out here on dmr. Maybe, maybe I can connect up with anybody in the area that way. But with that, catch everybody next year. And seven threes.
Speaker B: It's been a.
Speaker A: Been a great trip. WA1NER KV8V01 Portal. All be clear. Seven threes, my friend.
Speaker B: Okay, Adam, see you later. KB8VOM WA1NER Adios. We'll be clear and we'll talk at you later. I'll give you a call next couple days and, and see if you're. Are you. Do you work before you leave? Do you work a night shift or day shift?
Speaker A: I work them all, but right now I'm on a swing, so I'm working. Let me see here. It'd be 3pm your time until 11pm your time. But like I said, I work. Work them all. Wherever the. Wherever the state needs.
Speaker B: Okay, well, I'll just. I'll just take a chance on calling you. And you can just call me back whenever.
Speaker A: Whenever you get clear.
Speaker B: Okay? Adios. Have a good trip. And thanks for shouting. Giving us a shout this evening, Adam. See you later. Bye.
Speaker A: Seven threes and intel. Shirley, I said seven threes and 88s to both you guys in KV8OM portable.

Now. Good. Glad to work. Okay, I'm on the 085 now. Can you hear me, Jerry and clear. Where are you at? I'm at cvs, getting my meds. In marysville? Yes, That was a good guess. Beside, we got one in Yuba City, too. Good too. That's another town. But it's only one mile away. Yes. Pharmacy in Marysville is closer to my house and I'm in Yuba City than Yuba City is for me. All right. Closer to you than I am. Ua1ner. You're heading back home now? Yeah, in a moment. Or are you going to lunch? Going home. What did you say? Picking up. I picked up lunch. Breakfast for my son. Did you get breakfast at. You're not keying up all the way. Oh, really? Being a good operator. Hire me a good operator. Good operator. Keys up all the way. Don't still work for CVS anymore. No, she does not. Okay. It'll quit looking for. Trying to go see my girlfriend, but don't seem to be too successful. Hi. You got a flat tire yet. Down there, right? Flat tire? Oh, they don't have flat tires. If all else fails, you still got your bicycle. You could ride your bicycle down there? Yeah. Oh, to the her house? No. You mean to tell me you don't have an E bike? Oh, gosh, no. Why the heck not? Why don't you have one? I don't have one, but my kids have got one. I can probably go borrow one. I'm sure they're a lot of fun. You go a lot faster. Longer and faster on my quarter log runner. Sure you can.

Speaker A: Well, I'm gonna take a standby, Jerry, because we're having a long, long pause in between conversations. So I think I'll just take me a pause for the cause. WA1NAR okay. Yeah, I'm headed home. I was listening a little bit to the guy on
Speaker B: radio. He's talking
Speaker A: about
Speaker B: Mitch McConnel. Mitch McConnell's wife gave. When they got married, they gave.
Speaker A: Her dad owned a big Chinese shipping company, and so they gave. They gave them millions of dollars.
Speaker B: He's still senator or congressman or anything.
Speaker A: Who's that? Mitch McConnell. He's the
Speaker C: one that went brain dead talking to people on the news. I don't know anything about him. Mitch McConnell. He's a congressman or
Speaker A: senator or something. Apparently you don't know a whole lot about him either. I know he has
Speaker B: lots of money. That carnival's still down here. Well, it looks like it's as big as the one in the paragraph.
Speaker C: Oh, we got lots of.
Speaker B: Lots of rides and lots of boots and lots of everything. That give you something to do?
Speaker C: Way better. When I won't blow my money on that. Got a lot of extra money. Doesn't mean I need to squander it. You'd have fun doing it. Maybe.
Speaker B: On my girlfriend. And she wants to go to carnival. I'll take her. I have to get another one. W e6a x n repeater. A lot of traffic for Saturday.
Speaker C: A lot of traffic every Saturday.

Speaker A: Yeah. What I'm trying to say is this guy was a big government guy for such a long time. And he was married to a guy out of China that had lots of money.
Speaker B: Yeah. Who are we talking about now? Mitch McConnell. Okay. Don't know anything about him. Know anything about him, Jerry? Frequency we reset. Ner qsy.

W e6a x n repeater.

Speaker A: W e6axm repeater feb6txb marine mobile lake oroville.
Speaker B: Well, you're making the repeater nicely from Lake Oroville. W6P and H in Yuba City.
Speaker A: Roger, thank you. Yeah, that's great. Just turn the other radio off. I'm out here sailing or pretending to. There's really no wind. The name is Hal. Hi, Hal.
Speaker B: Paul here in Yuba City.
Speaker A: Got rid of the noise there. My 20 meter radio. I listen to the maritime data and usually check in there. They like to check in sailboats. So that's pretty cool.
Speaker B: Yeah. So are you out on the main lake, not in the afterbay or something like that, is that right?
Speaker A: No, Roger, I have a 27 foot Catalina. It's a little bit big for the afterbay of the Fore Bay.
Speaker B: Yeah.
Speaker A: Yeah.
Speaker B: Well, that sounds like a lot of fun. Sounds like you're pretty well equipped for radio gear on it.
Speaker A: So.
Speaker B: Yeah, you're making it great.
Speaker A: That's good. Yeah. I have one antenna on top of the mast just on the back. Yeah. So I put this radio in last year and it's a little icon. I really like it. It's a good little radio. Yeah.
Speaker B: So I'm guessing you're. Maybe there's not too much mountain between you and the buttes up on the mast. Are you near the dam or what part of the lake are you in?
Speaker A: I'm actually beyond the bridge up the middle fork a little ways. I can still see the bridge. I'm sort of the start of the. And the wind has totally died. Usually about 10 miles an hour today, Paul, but it's never yet. It normally does a weird thing where it's real windy in the morning, it dies off completely and the wind 180 degrees around noon.
Speaker B: Yeah. Well, that sounds like a blast. And you are dropping out just a little bit when you're. When you're coming in, it's strong and then you know, just a couple times you're dropping out there. So you might be kind of on the margins of making it if you go much farther. But yeah, we'll have a great time out there. That is. That sounds like a lot of fun. I'm going to get back to what I was doing, but I'll say 73 for now and have fun. W6P and H Paul in Yuba City.
Speaker A: Well, thank you, Paul. W6WB6KXE. Great talk to you. Been around for a while. Been retired for 17 years. So this is what I get to do all the time. 73.
