WD6AXM TX (146.085 MHz) recordings for 2026-03-15

This is kilo oscar 6 mike unicorn hotel tying over the southern radio club repeater we6axm repeater.

Kc6 Are you out? Wp6 a x n receiver. What are you doing up so late? Ki650p in Wheatland? Oh, we're at kind of late, so it's gonna be another hour. Starting to doze off now though, so I thought I'd check everything. Mike already went to bed. Okay. I just assumed you were there already or on your way. Not better than running late tonight. All right, well, had a nice visit and had burgers for dinner, played with the grandkids and. And hung out with Jeff and Shannon and had a nice time and almost home. Long day. Greg came by, dropped off at CDM for me that morning. Yeah, he called me when he was on his way to your place from Folsom and said he was heading over there. Actually, he called me first time right around 9:30 when I was getting ready to hop in the shower to get ready to come up here. So I knew he was in town, but I told him I wasn't going to be here. Well, he's spending the night so I'm not. Of course I'm going to be busy probably most of the day tomorrow, but I might catch up to him. He wanted a couple patches, shoulder patches. Had wanted to give them to him before he left and I forgot all about. So now I got him sitting here. So if I try and give. Give them to him tomorrow or just mail them to him. Okay. I asked him if he was gonna stay the night and he didn't think he was when I talked to him the first time. So maybe I'll catch up with him tomorrow. I don't know what time he's planning on going back. Let me look at this text real quick. Say again? Let me. Let me read his text one more time. Okay. Oh, 2212. He was charging up his car at Douglas and Rocky Ridge. He's offering to stop by, but I. That was the last thing I heard from him. Was he on the Simplex? No, he texted me. Well, text him and see if he's still out and about. I don't know what his. He's probably heading back to his mom's or something, but see if he's still out. I'm surprised he's up this late. He's usually in bed pretty early himself because he gets up early. Yeah. Hey, on that ICOM radio, do you have the radio together? So it's just one piece. It's easier to work on a couple things. I need the little cord that goes between the control head and the radio. And the other thing is there a piece missing to the to make it clip onto the transceiver. Well there probably is to both of those questions but I don't know where they are at the moment. Well, I'll use a go for and then let's see what else I cleaned up that that I cleaned up that B8000 and fired up and it looks like it's doing okay. Just debating on whether I want to buy the software for it or not. Okay. I don't think I ever had any software for that because I was still all kind of new to me when I got that thing and I didn't mess with it so I don't have any. At least I don't remember having any. I'm. I'm. I might have years ago but long gone now. I want to say now that I think about it, I want to say that I did have a disk at some point and I had it on an old computer and that computer is long gone. Well back then it would have been a CD anyway Yep.

What patches did he want? Rockland? Yeah. He just said he wanted a couple rocking patches. Told him I had plenty of them. Okay.

Speaker A: Well, looks like you don't have to buy a cable because it's interchangeable
Speaker B: with an Elenco. Okay. I would go use Chirp or something, but I didn't see it on the Chirp list.
Speaker A: So you didn't like Chirp? I don't like it
Speaker C: for
Speaker A: brand new
Speaker C: radios, but I, you know, for that I'll just try it, I guess. But I checked. I checked the listing on there. That isn't the one there.
Speaker B: Anyway, in regards to that 2730
Speaker C: programming it, Do you think it's easier to program it when it's all put together? Well, yeah, A bunch of cables run all over the damn place. You got that big old long USB cable or whatever hell it is, RJ45 cable. And then you got the.
Speaker A: I don't know, it's
Speaker C: just having it in nice one spot is nice. Also
Speaker B: easier
Speaker C: to install. It's such a
Speaker B: small
Speaker A: radio,
Speaker C: there's no sense in
Speaker A: separating it. You got it all together? Well, yeah, except I got the control head mounted on top of that
Speaker C: Harris radio, so it kind of makes it nice and compact. Plus, yeah, it's a small radio, but it still sticks out further than it would if it's just a control head. Kind of blocks that radio. My vehicle radio and all that. All those controls.
Speaker B: Yeah, I suppose so. Since I ordered it
Speaker C: with to be remote. I'll be honest with you, I don't remember if it came any other way because I ordered it specifically for to be remote. So it may have already come that way. I don't even remember. Now what they do is they come. Like when I got mine, it came with the long cord and the short cord, but it did not come with a remote mount kit. In other words, a kit
Speaker A: to mount it to the dashboard. Yeah, I think I had to get that separate.
Speaker C: I remember if I got on ebay or Lido or what where I got it, it might have been a light on lido mount. Well, what you have on there, you just put those two magnets in the back. Yeah, but I had to buy that separate. I think if I remember right.
Speaker A: Oh,
Speaker C: okay, okay.

Speaker A: No. Grant never answered, so he probably went to bed. Yeah, probably. All right, well, thanks for trying. So he's gonna try to come back back by tomorrow for those patches?
Speaker B: Well, I just asked him if he was spending the night, and he resp. That he was going to spend the night and he'd be on the radio later, but he never got on. And I just told him. Well, I found some patches for you. For some reason, we can't. We miss each other. Tomorrow I'll just mail him to him. He's all I said. Okay. Well, he's a early bird, unlike me, so even if he gets up and gets going, probably before I'm ready, and I doubt that he'll stay too long because he's already planned on going back up tonight, last I talked to him, so I might miss him. Anyway, I'll text him when I get up, whenever that's gonna be.
Speaker A: Okay.
Speaker B: All right, we're gonna shut down, then. KC630RO, where you at? Between Lincoln and Rockland. Okay. Yeah, I said I was in my office. That V8000, since I have a cable already, it makes it a lot easier. The Software is just 25 bucks. I'll just download that, make it easy. All righty. All right, well, bid you good night, and I will catch you tomorrow at some point. All right. K66 Rainbow. K650P.

Speaker A: N6iwh ko6bty.n6iwh ko6bty. You out there, pete? Yeah.
Speaker B: That's kind of funny. I just sat down here, came in, been out running around chasing the world and thought I'd come in and relax, have myself a little zero carb aw, roof here. And then, hey, good ham radio cuso shows up
Speaker A: like a double feature.
Speaker B: So what's up? Nice day here.
Speaker A: Yes. I just sitting in the car, went and got some warm soda and, yeah, I saw a couple people I haven't seen in a while, so that was nice. And it's windier over here than. I don't know, it's been in a while. A lot of tree pollen on the ground. So I took my allergy pill last night and been using the nasal spray, so I'm trying to get ahead of that. How's the wind over that way?
Speaker B: Not too bad, you know, nothing to write home about. But, hey, I've seen the winds out here in Chico coming through like a tornado. I mean, trees just bending down like you wouldn't believe. Yeah, it's.
Speaker A: I say it's that this time of year, but there goes a plane to the airport. But anyway, overall, it's a nice day. There's very little cloud. It's not sticking around. It looks more like smoke than clouds. And I think it's gonna be in the 70s. I don't have my phone or my smartwatch, which I couldn't tell you that. But, yeah, other than that. Just gonna do some tours around the house, tinker with a few things and call it a Sunday. Not yet. Anyway, so I got a lot of stuff to do. W E6A X N
Speaker B: I always listen to this swap net on 40 meters, 7.24. You know, guys are always loud. I guess they're running amplifiers. But I learned things, you know, they talk about rigs and stuff they have for sale. Pretty amazing.
Speaker A: Yeah, I'm. This summer, I think I'm gonna hit up a couple estate sales or something. Those are usually obviously more expensive because they sell their word estate in there and want to make as much money as they can off the garbage that the loved one left behind. But might head up for some ham gear that way as well. And obviously, I end. We have the understanding of that radio as well. It's got to get up there and do that. But then I got to run an antenna and all that, so I want to try to get ahead of that as well.
Speaker B: The rig I was talking about is Zagu x I e. G u Zygu Zegu 21 people love. I don't know. Okay. They're the smaller radio. They don't get uhf, vhf, but hot on the receive SDR based. And that thing brings them in, you know. And there's a forum I belong to these forums. They're always talking about antennas and what to do, but apparently 20 watts is plenty when you're trying to work the DX, you know.
Speaker A: Yeah, it sounds like an overall good radio for sure for UHF, VHF. I've been really pleased with this Gycky 8900R. Yeah, I don't look at it too often because I just had to crate my neck all the way to the back pretty much. There's not much, many places flat surfaces in this car to mount things. Everything's swooping angles and pumps and everything. Somebody, I was talking to somebody and they're like, well, why don't you just mount it to your dash? I'm like, I don't want it on my dash. Hey, you know what?
Speaker B: I always get out the drill. Years ago, halfway decent to use the car and everybody go, oh man, you're gonna put holes in it. That's gonna really reduce the resale value. There you go, two meters.
Speaker A: I only take advice from the people I value and people I think I can learn from. There's definitely some people out there that they didn't like to talk to hear themselves talk and waste the air that other people could be using. Beneficial comments and stuff. But other than that, I enjoy the hobby and I'm not gonna. I might even renew my license when it comes up in the next, probably another six years. It's got to be six years because I haven't. I think I just hit three.
Speaker B: Oh, geez. Yeah, I gotta renew also the GMRS ticket. I know a couple of guys out there, but, you know, they always encourage you to not get on, go away because it's for emergencies only. I mean, they all do it.
Speaker A: Yeah, that's. I haven't run across it too much, but that's definitely a thing out there. And I don't know, I mean, if they don't want people on it, they should make it private if they do. I mean, I understand that. I'm. I'm very grateful for those people that do operate the repeaters and stuff with whatever band it works on because I hear they're quite expensive and I know the wonderful work that they can do as far as reaching far and wide. But I don't know, I mean, I know that one time that it ever happened with me and you. I was on i5, couldn't hit the 085 machine, so I was on Carla 36. It wasn't even on Lynx or anything. And they were like, ah, keep it quiet, get out. I was like, whatever.
Speaker B: You know, the GMRS guys don't like AMP. In fact they're guru is some guy on YouTube called not a Rubicon and he calls them crusty old hams or crabby hams or something like that. But they talk about hams. Talked down to them. You're stupid, you know, you didn't learn anything. And I have a license. I'm so special. I'm a ham.
Speaker A: I'm familiar with the channel. It's just an outward projection of his, his negative mindset. That's what that is. If, I mean, I always say if I can pass the test with all the anxiety I had, Paul could tell you about that one W16 8. He's like, you need to go outside for a few minutes and calm down and come back in. I was like, yeah, I got you. I just have really bad piss anxiety. But yeah, I don't know. I mean there's going to be rivalries between everything. I mean they like the fact they don't have to pass a test. They can just hand over a check worth $35 and like the Wild West. I think that's, that's probably about as close to what CB is or was as far as like them being able to do it easy and set up a high power station that drowns out other people. But anyway, Pete, I am going to go ahead and get in the car. I. Or get in the house. Out of the car anyway. N6iwhko6bgy
Speaker B: all right. Yeah, I'm busy doing things and cleaning up. I don't know what's wrong with me. N6 IWA.
