GEARS W TX (146.115 MHz) recordings for 2025-12-06

Kk7cpi. Listen, I heard a KK6. You want to try it again? I heard you were listening, but all the copy was KK6. Not your fault. I had stuff in the background here. N6 knees. Yeah, ken. This is ken in tanaka kk7t ei. Oh, okay. Yeah. How's. How's everything going in Tanica? I don't even know where that is. Right. Did I look that up last time you and I talked? I'll look that up right now. Oh, yeah, I did. I did look that up.

Okay. So there you go. How's everything in Panaca? Everything's fine in Panaka. It's just north of Las Vegas. It's just south of Caliente, Nevada. Have you heard of Caliente? Yeah, we call that Caliente. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, I. Like I said, I remember going. I had to go through there once because I couldn't go the other way out of Ely. So I had to go through Panaca and Caliente and back over towards Hiko that way.

We're just north of Calient, I guess. And then there's the Oak. And then you go on up to the junction and then head over to. That's a. It's a good trip. I don't mind that going up. I love going to Ely because I go to the sporting goods store in Kylo Ranch. All right. I just. I just sat down here after a very busy day. I was about ready to start putting up some Christmas lights, but we have a.

This is a baby kit. He's running a little wild at the moment, so I figured I'd try to put up the Christmas decorations. After he fell asleep, I just sat down in here. I was going to start watching some MASH series here. Haven't seen. Haven't seen a lot of these MASH episodes in a long time. So I thought I'd sit down and start watching some of those again. Give me something to do when there's nothing to do, right? Sure. For sure. I. I enjoyed mash. I watched that. I watch, I think every one of them. I don't know, they kind of like gun smoke. You find a new one you didn't watch, but it's good watching.

Yes, sir. You know, and I back when I was younger, I'm talking, you know, 20, well, 20s, I was busy kids, 20s, 30s, and 40s. It wasn't until right about 50 is when I was able to sit down and start watching mash. And I, yeah, I started to enjoy it. Prior to that, I could have cared less. Yeah. No, I love it just a little bit. Yeah. When I was younger, I thought I was a quick draw artist. My dadman gave me a 20 digger to 23. The first ones they come out and a quick draw holster. And I thought I was.

Practicing a fast draw. I got a little bit too quick and it went off. Shot me in the lake. And I had an original old MASH doctor that was over there in that time and that fixed my leg up after that. He was one of my. In mash. Okay. Hopefully he was a Hawkeye and not a clinger. All right. Okay. Well, Ken, I didn't want you to go unanswered, so I thought I'd jump in there and say hello. I didn't recognize who you were at first. Of course. Yeah. It's always good talking to you. All right. I'm going to let you go, and I'm going to get back to what I was doing here at the system. Rest and.

But yeah, good talking to you and I'm sure I'll hear you tomorrow or some other day. Yeah, check in here more often. You may find some more folks on the Las Vegas system over the weekend and posting you closer to Christmas. Talk to you later. N6k here in Fusagasiga, Colombia. Yeah, I came to come back. I just come down in my man cave and just playing around and I just got here so I picked up the radio. It was been on all day. I just picked it up and called out to see if anybody's out there. And I thank you for the comeback. KK7 TDI73.

Wa6eks. Martinez, do you know if. If they move the 146.85. I guess the system 5. If they move that repeater or just raise the power level or. I don't know, is that System nine or which one? Which one is that? I think it's system five. 14685.

Thought it was in Orinda, but it. It's really louder. It used to be. It used to be really quite soft and now it seems very strong. The VH60K. Now this is system 35. Interesting. While I'm in Martinez, a lot of dirt between me and it sounds too strong to be over there. Maybe it was when I tried it just once before or something. It was on full power battery or something. I don't know. All right, thanks. Have a great evening. Thanks for coming back. WA60K.

Yeah, it just shows. Still shows the window 1500ft. So I don't see any change. But maybe you got a different path tonight or. I don't know. It could be. It could be an improvement if it's not updated on the website. Yeah, I just went over to 440. It's. I think it's 16 and expect trends. Of course. I can hear myself full quieting on the other turning. I'm turning up the other frequency anyway. Very good. I don't get on the system very often but it sure is impressive and thank you. Where are you located? I'm in northwest.

Las Vegas. I'm coming to you through the Las Vegas Association. We have a number of here located around the Las Vegas Valley, up in Nevada, also in Highland, which is up in Lincoln county, that have covered between Southwest and Utah as well. But our system is mostly permanently moved into Carlin, called lvra. If you want more information on that on our system, you can check it out on www.hxo.radio, the domain. Of course, the car radio website as well you can check out. That shows that we've been linked for about John probably now mostly. Anyway, it's good to hear you and sound fine.

Oh, Roger. Stay warm. It's pretty. Well, I'm sure. I'm sure it's colder there than it is here. It's in the mid-40s, but it's real damp. Really, really goes through you when you get outside. Sure. It's colder there anyway. Yeah, I've never heard of the DOT radio stuff. It's just a new one on me. That's great. All right. Thanks again. Very good. Is it eks or tks? I just said this, and my call is november, romeo, Whiskey, whiskey, alpha 6, echo, kilos. Here. Echo, kilo, deer. And the name is jim, japan, india, mike.

Very good. So what are you up to this evening at the home cp Hanging out or what you got planned this weekend? No, not much. I went to a old timers reunion. I used to work at a science place up close to UC Berkeley campus and about 10 of us got together and rehashed old time. I mean like 50 years ago. Hard to believe. Anyway, that was fun. I just got home from that a few minutes ago and try to get back to the routine amount here. So that's about it. Nothing fancy and nothing much for the rest of the weekend. Yeah, my son and Xyl are up and.

Bellingham, Washington, for the weekend. So I'm sitting here, dog a couple gold noodles and trying to stay out of trouble. Just trying to do cleanup and chores. I'm off on Friday, so I run errands today. Try to get all my errands out of the way. Possible on Fridays, but enjoy a little time off Saturday. Sunday. Very good. Yeah. To answer your question, is cooler over here? Probably. Overnight lows are getting into the mid-30s. Overnight, it's cold. Drier air mostly, but it's been kind of damp a few days ago, but drying out a little bit. Still been cold. So overnight at daytime highs.

Of the week. Dry so far. Little bit of kind of damp in the morning, couple mornings overnight. I think we're returning to our dry air, and I haven't looked really at the forecast. I don't know. Hopefully get some rain at some point, but very good stuff. We don't get very much. Not like. You got a pretty relaxing weekend ahead, except for the dog sitting. I imagine they don't like to go out much when it's when the temperature's cold. I haven't had a dog for a long time, but when it was cold and rainy, he'd go out and do his business and be whining at the door in a minute, it seemed like. Didn't take any time at all to get him back inside. They're not dumb anyway. Very good.

This system. I guess it doesn't supposed to get up into Washington, right? No, not this system. It does from time to time. There was a group up in extreme northern California and had to walk around, probably around Weed or north of Redding I said and they had a up in chat. They used to be hosed in but something happened. They haven't been hosun for a while, but periodically some of those guys will jump in by all stars something like that to have coverage in the spring. Southern Utah and North.

Yeah, Roger. I used to have the wind system in here, but too much general. People being amazed that they could talk to some other city on a handheld from another state or something like that. I overrode it with some other memory or whatever, but there are frequencies. But anyway, this system seems. I don't listen to it very often, but it seems to be very quiet, most part. So I'll get it back that way. I'll sign with you and say have a great evening and weekend there, and thanks for coming back. WA6EKS Martinez, which is near Concord. Yeah. My ex, Exyl used to. Her parents hooked up in Ameon, so I used to go up there all the time. I think her dad thousand I want to say.

When they relocated to Vegas probably 30 years ago. Shortly after we did, she left me. And then, I don't know, I didn't talk to her parents very much after that from time to time. So I, you know, I know that area. Discovery Bay, Concord, Antioch and Pittsburgh State Highway 4 and west and get off of 5 there, stock and go west and make a sharp right turn. I take that road many a time. So I'm familiar with the area, Doc. Has been probably 30 years since I've been around, 35 years maybe since I've been in that neighborhood. So anyway. But yeah, I remember all the greenery and stuff that we don't have here in Vegas. Pretty much them. All right. We'll take care. I won't keep you. I heard you want to sign and welcome. Welcome back. Stop by and say hi.

A great group of people here. And I don't know if you ever use All Star. You're into that or not, but All Star is amazing. If you want to talk to faraway places, just dial up the nose and get yourself a pick up a clear nose device or something like that. There's a guy up there in Jerry Sildy that manufactures this little device called a clear nose. It's a WI fi and it's a small transmitter receiver, 50 milliwatts or whatever. And for them to work around the neighborhood, there's connect to the Internet. You dial up a node on pcms, you'll be talking to anywhere in the world. It's fantastic. It's a really great mode. Anyway, take care, Las Vegas. Good night. Yeah, thanks again. Yeah, I don't have All Star. I've got an old open spot, I think one of the first ones in a DMR.

Mv380 I think it is the model number and All Star I think is much clearer, much, much better audio quality. I should get rid of the open spot. I guess I could probably. I don't know if I could use the MD380 on All Star or not anyway. But yeah, it does sound really good. It's very impressive, but I don't have it yet. I do have D Star on a Kenwood handheld, but that's not the same either. Anyway, we can chat more about that later and have a good one there. Thank you. Very good. All right. Well take care and good night. Yeah, check it out, All Star if you bug wants a bike and go look at various websites, a company called Node Ventures just look up Node Ventures and the device is called A clear Nose and got a couple different models but few hundred bucks will put you it's a fantastic.

Big device, well made, super robust, and the operating system that he has with it is an app for iOS or for Android. And super robust menu, not buggy anything is worth every 10 years. What I'm using right now actually. So I'm going into our Vulture server through All Star in the back door and coming out on all these shooters all over the place. But I could also use RF and connect to any one of a number of mountaintops around here. We got 8,500 foot mountain, so work that great. I got all kinds of choices, but also I can take my little handheld, walk around the neighborhood, walk the dog and use that hit that clear nose. Been on my office theft, talk to the world. Anyway, if you want to know more about it, hit me up on Look It Up.

About it. But great, great deal. Anyway, good night. Good time for sure take care of 73. NR 70 Las Vegas. Well, stay warm and taking those dogs out for a walk. And yeah, thanks for the. The information about that. I'll have to check it out. Yeah, I've heard of the three notes before. Like I said, the audio is quite impressive. All right. Good evening. NR7G. I think you said WA60K.

Kk7. See you mine. Are you the one that checked in on system 16 here? Just a little bit ago, I was out of the room and I heard somebody. I didn't catch a call sign. How you doing? Ken here. N6 key N. Yeah, Ken. Jack, KK7CMI. Yeah, I was just surfing around the channels to see if anybody's out there. Yeah, there's usually somebody listening that has time to pick up microphone and respond to you. You got driving around somewhere or.

Are. What do you. Where, where, where are you? No, I'm a base unit. Okay. That sounds like las vegas. Yeah, roger that. What's your point? Yeah, I'm sorry. I thought you were the one that checked in on system 16 there on the Carnival system. I'm down here in Fusa, Colombia. Pusa Gasiga, Colombia. Here we just call it Pusa.

Columbia. Yes, sir. Home of juan valdez. Yeah, we just get a lot of coke out of there. Back. Yeah, 70s. Yeah, probably. So. When you're coming in live and clear, you sound like you're right next door. What are you. What are you talking on? I'm coming to you via All Star through the Carvis system. Just a little Raspberry PI with a radio less adapter plugged into it and.

And goes into my, my wi fi here at the house. Voila. Here I am. Wow. Well, it really works for you. Yeah. All Star is definitely a, a great tool in the world of ham radio. Efficiently just linking things together nowadays, linking repeaters together and systems together and mass connections during a, you know, during a bad weather event or the case in California, maybe in a big earthquake or something, it.

Yeah. California has a big one. It's gonna affect us, too. Yeah. Well, in the immediate areas of a big earthquake, you probably lose a lot of the Internet. But at least some of the other stuff will stay connected. And using RF and Internet, that does work. And then anybody on the outside can connect in to any of the sites that have allstar. Anyways, I do have to get back to what I was doing. I think you said your name was Rich or Richard. I believe that's what you said. But good talking to you there in Las Vegas. I will be listening. But I do have to get back to what I was doing. Take care, Ken.

Here. N6kn e. Roger, I think you said. Ken, this is jack, kk7gmi. Good talking to you. Yeah, let's talk to you again, man. Oh, and while I have my laptop open. K7gnd. Are you. Are you listening? K7gnd? N6kn. Nothing.

306 Kennedy. I missed. Missed the call sign. Yeah, go ahead. Ken's here. Yeah, this is ross. November zulu 6 juliet nz xj mobile in sacramento. It'd possibly be qh keying up on system 16. Yeah, well, all of the Carlo repeaters are keying up. I'm sure. How are things in Sacramento?

Well, I'm just trying to drive back to the Bay Area just to do a quick visit to my Tahoe house to replace all the light bulbs after the neutral blew out. Almost 220 on most of my life. So, unfortunately, the rest of the electronics have supplies. That quick trip to the hardware store for another dozen light bulbs. Oh, boy, that's terrible. If you lost a bunch of your light bulbs, you probably lost a bunch of other stuff too. Okay. Yeah. And I understand now what you said about 16. You were the one that checked in on 16. Yeah. Here we have get a lot of tropical storms, a lot of lightning.

So I've got pretty much, pretty much everything that's expensive is on surge projectors, even some of my remote controlled plugs. They have built in surge protectors. So yeah, we get a little hiccup in electricity. All of my stuff, all of my stuff here stays turned off for, I don't know, whatever it is, 10, 10 or 15 minutes before it all comes back on again. You're right again. That sounds good. Well, I've been to Colombia a couple of times, mountaineering and climbed in the Rio Nevada del Santa Marta, if you know where that is it.

Yes. Yeah, lots of. Right now there's a lot of bicycle training going on. A lot of people come from all over to do some serious bicycle training. And yeah, they really get up there in the elevation. I used to do a lot of bike riding. I'll tell you what, it's good exercise. The way they ride up and down these steep hills we have over here, it's just amazing. Well, I'm an avid follower of the Tour de France and there's Colombian and Ecuadorian riders who have been doing very well recently me because of the availability of all the high altitude training. So you fill me in where you are in Colombia.

Yeah. About an hour and a half southwest drive out of Bogota is a town called Busa Gasaga. And I live in just a little outside of Chinata, which is just a little outside of Pusa. I usually say Fusa, Fusa Gatmagat, because it's a little easier for people to look up, I think, sometimes, than trying to look up Chinatra. But yeah, we live here on a plateau here between a couple of canyons and above a couple of rivers. Just a little south of Chinata, Chenauta, Columbia. Very scarce.

Wonderful country. And I also spent some time on the Caribbean coast as well, hanging out at the beach and generally being a gringo. All right, well, we're not supposed to chat on this system, are we? So nice to talk to you again. And yeah, there is my electronic survive and I think because it's fuel volvis anyway, so having. So all my electronic devices work but light bulbs its own. Thank God light bulbs is cheap. Yeah, that LED stuff is coming down in price. Just about everything here is led. Okay, you take care and nice to meet you. N6 Cammy. Nz 60 mobile on the Bright Bend Bridge. Thanks. Car.

Welcome Aviation system in bed 60. Two. That reading station. You are super scratchy. I'm on the handheld, so I'm probably. All right. Copied OQQ and on a handheld. And that's why you're probably scratch.

That's correct. I just reached out to see if I could contact. Are you another Mike? Is that Mike that lives next to Mike? Yeah. Are you mike?

Hey, columbia, kk7cmi. Okay, I don't know if you can hear me or not, but this is KM 700QQ. I'm gonna back off on some people. A little more power, Okay? Cover that OQTT I'm still missing your call sign, so I apologize. And there. There was somebody else in there. Go ahead. You sound american. I am dual. Dual citizen. All right. What are you doing?

I'm retired. I retired a year ago. Moved down here with my wife. My wife is Colombian. So we decided to spend our retirement years here. And loving every minute of it. Yeah, Roger that. Yeah. I imagine retirement go a long way down there. That sure does. Yeah. A lot of. A lot of things go a long ways down here. No doubt. Okay. We really need to let the system go and take a rest, so. Yeah. So there you go. That's why I'm here. Spent the first 22 years together in there in the States, and now, hopefully, we'll spend the next 20.

Me two years here in colombia or more. All right. You take care. N6 knee. Yeah, roger that. Good for you. Kv6zxg.kv6zx.nr7t. Las Vegas.
