Speaker A: System11 link up.
Speaker B: Oh yeah. Now what? What are you doing? N6 katie.
Speaker A: They're not as elusive as I have, it seems.
Speaker B: How are you?
Speaker A: I mean, I'm doing okay to answer your question. How are you?
Speaker B: Good, good. Just here doing my thing. Getting closer and closer to getting my. Getting my visa here and my citizenship here in Columbia.
Speaker A: Hopefully it's easier than here. Sounds like quite a process over here. Very long one. And nowadays, well, you know, that's a whole other story. But I wanted to ask you a question about what you were doing with the DTMF thing. If I could. Is that possible?
Speaker B: Yeah, that's something I'm still trying to figure out. I know there's a secret to making all that work great. But
Speaker A: I'm still missing something.
Speaker B: But yeah, go ahead. You just passed away.
Speaker A: Okay, well I guess that kind of answers one thing. It sounds like it a as they call a whip. Whip it good. A work in progress. So. Okay, and then yeah, I was going to ask you how you were doing. What you were doing was that like some kind of a macro that you call up that resides on the server or something with predefined sites that it pings or something like that. I didn't quite, you know, follow or understand what, what it was you were trying to do or should we not even waste any time on discussing that because that might be out the door type of thing.
Speaker B: It's pretty simple. What supposed to happen. The way I understand it is you can go to any of the super
Speaker A: supermon
Speaker B: and just type in a, you know, a four digit DTMF tone and it will ping a site, a repeater site, give the, you know, whatever, whatever DTMF you already have set up at the site. This will do it. Through the Altar system. I got a couple of them to respond. I know 25 always responds real good off of the Vaca Superman, but properly it should go through all of the supermons and activate any site that you have.
Speaker A: Okay, but. But then you have to log in to a supermon, right? Is what you have to do. And then from there what you type it in or something or you're not actually doing it through dtms pat or something like that.
Speaker B: Yeah, you could just go into the, into the input box, you enter the command four digit command and then just hit the DTMF button and that will put that DTMF top through the whole system which will activate your already set up DTMF at the site. So you're using a COP command, you're using a different DTMF set of members to activate what you already have set up at the site?
Speaker A: Well, kind of, sort of, not really. So are you. Did you have whatever this COP is? I guess that's a acronym for something. I'm thinking maybe that's a. Well, You're saying whatever DTMs you, you put in on the command line is not necessarily the same DTMS that you would enter over the air. It's something that pulls up something locally and then that resends what you want out over onar. That's how it does it.
Speaker B: Yeah. I wish I had the exact verbiage for you at the moment. Yeah, basically, yes, the Superman won't let DTMF don't pass, but they'll let the COP command. So if you're on a Superman dashboard or cockpit as ASL is known to call it here lately. Yeah, you just put in this particular command and that will go through the All Star system and then that will activate the actual DTMS command that you already set up way back when.
Speaker A: And
Speaker B: it'll give you the control that you want. Do you need it? No, probably. Probably not. Would it be convenient to have as?
Speaker A: Yes, I think it would.
Speaker B: So again, it's just something I was playing with, give myself something to do and I figured it was no, no harm, no foul that it worked or didn't.
Speaker A: Right. No, that's fine. But it just sounds. Sounds kind of messy, a lot of extra stuff in between. Because if I'm understanding it right, we would have to come up with all these. Yeah, I'm not sure I'm referring to this. Right. As these cops, which I'm guessing are pre programmed DTMS strings or whatever. Right. So we need, you know, several for each site. So. And that would need to be programmed at all these super monitors. That's something that resides off the server, but you can go in through any, let's say remote sites. And then that COP reside. Does that reside on the server or those reside on the individual superbonds and are they kind of like a macro or. You know, it's got a pre defined string of DTMs saved in it and that's what you're calling up and then it sends that out type of thing. There was a lot there to absorb.
Speaker B: Yeah, I, I've already done all of that. I've already done all the hard stuff. Now I'm just trying to get it go through the entire, All of the, all of the sites. But my problem is I don't have access to a lot of the sites because we don't have portfolio. So one of the reasons it's not working the way that it should is because I don't. I can't add those comp commands to the other supermodel for each site. But yeah, each. I've already got all the comp commands all created for all of the sites, all the way up to 40 if you ever decide to add more sites. And then the TTMF commands, they're already created for each one of the comp commands. So all of that's already done. I just needed to get it to work properly. Like some sites, they. Some sites like to have a longer, a longer tone, a longer TTMF tone and some seem to work better with short ones. There needs to be spaces, you know, like if you have two threes, there has to be a. There has to be a space in, in between those. It's, you know, it's kind of, kind of strange, but it, like I said, it, it works. I just need to fine tune.
Speaker A: Sounds a little kludgy what you're trying to say, I think. Yeah. So the inter. Inter digit timing type of event. So it actually can tell that you dropped the first one and now you're actually doing a second one as opposed to say there was a little bit of a stutter in between. Let's see, the problem is we got to be able to, we need to be able to send tones from anywhere. You know, like right now if I'm mobile and I got a pink so something or I gotta actually, you know, or Jeff's gotta have a site do something. We gotta query so voltage line or you know, switch modes or all that. Right. So we got multiple things so we can't have a whole bunch of these cops I guess for all these different things that, you know, be insane. And then trying to get him to all the fights as well be another, you know, big thing. So it's just, it really needs to be so that you can send a tone directly from anywhere on a radio and it goes through and it doesn't get muted. So. And that kind of leads me to. My next question is, I mean, do we absolutely know for sure from the top above pass the CMS and like say give it some prefix that it listens to and says okay, I need to unmute any following DTM or something like that maybe or whatever. It just seems like there's got to be a way to do this.
Speaker B: Yeah, you're getting super scratchy. Well, I can say that one will not interfere with the other. Your current dtmf tones that you use on your microphone. Me in, you know, over the air that, that work, that will always work but it just will not pass through some of the all star sites where
Speaker A: the,
Speaker B: the other the COP commands will. They'll pass through. So you know, it depends on what you're doing and where you are sitting. Sitting at your desk, fair at the house. You can go through it using the Supermon and activate any one of them that you want with crystal clear DTMF tones. Or if you're on the road and you grab a microphone and you want to enter your DTMF tones, you can do it that way. Sometimes the tones won't make it to the site.
Speaker A: That sounds like a TE receiver to my ear. It might be coming from Las Vegas. I'm not sure. Yeah, yeah, we gotta figure out something because getting on the, you know, a supermind is not gonna be easy. So. All right, well I guess all I can say is keep up the new fight and I'll see if I can. If I can get a hold of a couple people who are well versed on this. Come know somebody who is. If we can give a, you know, the ultimate answer one way or the other. Because I just, I find it hard to believe that you can't cash tones one way or the other without having to jump through all these hoops that you're doing with the COP commands and stuff like that. So. But. All right, well thank you. I don't mean that I want to beat this horse to death. So I guess we'll just carry on and try to figure this out.
Speaker B: All right. And you know, currently, if you remember, the only access, the only super mine that we have access to is vodka and then of course the powder. Right now we're very limited but you know, once we get. Once we get access to those and get more of them up, this thing will work very well. And it is actually very easy to do from your phone, from a smartphone. Just go to the supermod and put the code in and it'll work just fine. But yeah, that's the only problem. We just, we just don't have Superman access at the moment for me to add those, add those cops to this stanza. All right. Yeah, you're. You keep breaking up real bad.
Speaker A: But
Speaker B: maybe you and I can talk on the phone about this sometime over the weekend if you're not doing anything. 10, 6pM.
Speaker A: Yeah, I don't know why I'm breaking up. Unless. Need to get this. Yes, I do. All right, I'll catch up with you and 6 72.

Speaker B: Well, good morning, Mike. How are you doing? I must have my notes in here backwards. I thought this one was somewhere else and the other one was opposite of somewhere else. Anyways, good morning. How you doing?
Speaker A: Well, not too bad. Yeah, it's a good thing I said something then. Be the wrong microphone syndrome. Only the all star version, but yeah, we've got, we got sunny heat yesterday, clouds gonna be clouds all day today and half inch of rain tomorrow, inch and a half the next.
Speaker B: Hang on my, the one's connecting now. Okay, now I'm in here on radioet. Yeah, we've been having our typical, our typical tropical warmth, almost monsoon like thunderstorms that blow through here every couple of days. Yeah, it's pretty cool. Sometimes when they're coming in they sound like explosions because all you hear is one loud boom. You don't hear like a full blown thunder. Thunder going across the sky. Yeah, pretty, pretty cool. I love the Columbian weather. Or maybe I didn't hold the button hard enough.
Speaker A: Well, I didn't hear anything down here. No interference on your signal at all. So I don't know, maybe a different all star signal. But yeah, I think you're pretty much in a tropical rainforest area. There might be a lot of something close to a jungle not far from you.
Speaker B: Yeah, well, you know, the whole, the whole west coast of Columbia, the Pacific side, that's where all the rainforest is. And then separating that from the rest of Columbia is the western Andes Mountains. It's kind of three different layers of the Andes Mountains here that run through Columbia. There's the western end, the middle section, which is where I live, and then the eastern section which is not as big. And that's over between me and Venezuela.
Speaker A: Well, have you ever looked at the maximum elevations for those mountains? The highest Andes in Colombia?
Speaker B: Oh yeah, yeah, we've got some, we've got some pretty, pretty good sized. Volcanic ridges between us and the ocean over on the western edge of
Speaker A: the
Speaker B: western edge of the Andes Mountains. And it's not that far. You know, these three ridges of the Indian Mountains are not real far from each other. But the two prominent ones are the western edge and the center where I live.
Speaker A: Yeah. What do you think about 15?
Speaker B: What do you mean 15? What about 15? 15 what? Site or the freeway?
Speaker A: 15K. 15,000. Of course, Jasto was 14 right around 14.
Speaker B: Oh yeah. Okay. The Pisco Mountain is 5,5000 meters, but it's 5000 meters in feet. You know, we also got some super long tunnels, man made tunnels there's some tunnels here that make. That make some of the tunnels there in the States seem like there's nothing.
Speaker A: Yeah, I would think that the mining operations. Everybody got pretty good with tunnels because of the mining in Colombia and Peru and all around the South American countries. There's a lot of mining going on.
Speaker B: A lot of gold. A lot of gold has come out of Columbia. Yeah. They the Pico crystal ball calling mountain. I'm probably not saying that. Right. Is 5,775 meters which is 18,947ft above sea level. That's significant.
Speaker A: Yeah. I was going to say above 5,000 is above 15,000 you basically could just you multiply by three on meters come up with feet. Pretty close. A little bit more than that anyway. Yeah. Great. Anything any new news regarding hf?
Speaker B: No. I've got a buddy visiting. He's gonna come visit. I don't know. I thought it was gonna be February, but now it may not be till March. But he's gonna bring a bunch of stuff with him. Okay.
Speaker A: Well I have. I've lost all of my HF Digi capability. When my, my computer upgrade, it uploaded the next version of Windows 11 and that Windows 11 doesn't recognize any of the audio codecs that were in that were being used. So it lost FE8 and that whole suite JS8 and FT Digi lost everything. So I've been struggling to get something back and I put my PI 4B into my S Bitix. It's called another radio. That's called the S Bitx from. It's from India and it has. It has almost every digital mode in it except for jsa. So I haven't been able to get JSA quite back. I don't have anything going for my 7,300 yet. It's all coming back soon but man, I miss it. You know.
Speaker B: I found a long time ago. I haven't tried it here in Columbia but I found a long time ago if you just go to your local computer repair guy, I'll bet he has an old. An old desktop machine laying around with Windows 7 probably already on it. I paid a guy $100. He gave me a real super nice old, you know, used that he refurbished desktop with a monitor and a keyboard and a mouse and a spare drive with Windows 7 for 100 bucks. That was a couple years ago. In fact I distinctly remember offering you that machine when you came to my house and visited before I moved. I'm pretty sure I asked you if you wanted that whole thing and you kind of didn't. I ended up giving away to some friend of my niece's.
Speaker A: Well, speaking of switching computers, I've got a bunch of different. Windows machines. Mini, they're called mini mini computers. The one of them has updated to that new version of Windows 8 that doesn't recognize any of the audio stuff but I believe that two of them may not have updated and so they would be the next version back of Windows and they would recognize all I O codecs. So that was one of my possible ways of getting the 7300 back on was switching to the Mini completely over to the mini computer and going that direction. I've got a talk with with the guys in India about how to put JSA call on the 40 watt aesthetics machine that is it's especially designed. You plug a raspberry 54B into that board. That's how it has all the, all the digital modes. But like I say, you know, it's a little bit tricky making them work because they have to work in the asphythics mode. And I haven't quite figured that out yet. So yeah, I'm really close to an idea that I think will work getting that 7,300 going. I think what I'll do is I'll run a 12 volt mini computer that has. Oh, I just saw this Olinko do some funny stuff today. How much did you get of that?
Speaker B: You started talking about your mini computer. Well, don't overthink it. Don't. Super easy just to go visit your local computer repair guy and get yourself an old Windows 7. I found that Windows 7 probably even still today works great with most every ham radio stuff that we play with. But yeah, you dropped out there at exactly 10 minutes.
Speaker A: You know one thing I have a brand new version of that has never been registered on. The Internet is a version of Windows 8. It's brand new. I bought it right directly from Microsoft.
Speaker B: Refresh my memory because it just popped in my head. 25. Is it 25 or 20?
Speaker A: That's going to get
Speaker B: an all star node. Bernie, Bernie, is 20 correct?
Speaker A: Yeah, 20 would be the one. It 20 has been completely stabilized. It's had numerous problems, didn't pass. The link has always worked great into 13 and 13 makes it into 25 just fine. It, yeah, it's got a lot going for it but it's got terrible Internet. It's got very, it's got, you know,
Speaker B: we use these
Speaker A: hot spots up there and, and all the, all the sites, you know the Internet sites are distant. There's nothing up there on the mountain at all. So. But it has worked in the past. And it worked right up until when the Internet site just all of a sudden one day it just disappeared. And then one thing led to another and. And that. That entered that hot spot. That pipe PI that was running. That hot spot crashed.
Speaker B: Oh mama. I know. There's already an SD card made and duplicated. 20 for Bernie. In fact, I've got the supermon here all ready to go for it when it does come online. I'll send that to you as soon as it does get online. Are you even opening up these supermods and taking a look at them or am I just sending them to you for nothing?
Speaker A: No, I look at them every time. I don't look at them every day, but I look at them every time an update and they're pretty cool. I've seen more on these supermodels than. Than the old ones. There's a lot of labels and stuff.
Speaker B: Well, yeah, that's because we are special. Paul Km2r, you know, he is Mr. Superman and he is the one that pretty much did all the fine tuning and set some things up for us. Us as in Carla. So yeah, a lot of those, some of that. Some of the buttons I added. But he went in there, showed me how to make them better. And recently he added to the 6, 4, 6, 8, 9 and the, and the 750 is a Volta cloud of. There's a Listen Live button there. If you go down there and you look at the node number and then the key, the K6LNK Carla Main Hub Volter. You know that you look to the, to the right of that where it says bubble chart LS nodes. There's also a button there that says Listen Live. And then of course the website button. So yeah, if you haven't taken a look at it here in the last couple of days, take a look. There's some new stuff there.
Speaker A: What did that Listen Live at Broadcastify?
Speaker B: Yeah, it's just, it's just a separate button for Broadcastify. Takes you right to the, to the Listen Live feed. The other broadcast, if I button up on top, that just gives you you the California, Nevada stuff. But the Listen Live. Yeah, it takes you straight to the Carla. The Carla Broadcastify feed.
Speaker A: Well, I don't know if you've checked, but sometimes the broadcastifies are receivers in people's houses connected to the Internet. I don't know how this one's been happening.
Speaker B: Yeah, most of them are. Most of them are just people that have. Some of them have very, very expensive scanners and they scan their area. Yeah, that's where a lot of the broadcast comes from. In this case it comes directly off of the All Star cloud hub, sorts of super clean signal.
Speaker A: Yeah, I would think that would be better than the receivers at one time. I wish there was 1 for 31 before it got All Star and of course now it's.

Speaker A: Awesome. The way it works now, I told one guy that traveled from Arizona to San Diego quite often, he is working really good now. The only problem he's got is he doesn't. He hasn't really looked into ultimate, into Carla much. And he doesn't understand how it has to be the first time he really messed up and was on link. And then he got kind of angry when I tried to explain, you know, you don't. Well, somebody told him not to. Not to do that. He got angry about that. And then. And then I tried to explain. Well, you know, bringing up the whole system when you're on link with a local conversation, that's not good. And that's why we have local field. Now I'll probably have to explain the whole thing over again.
Speaker B: Well, I think you're talking about the Arizona guy. If he comes in on All Stars, he doesn't have to worry about it. He doesn't even have access to any field
Speaker A: or rf.
Speaker B: All right. Anyways, I gotta go. We've tied up the system quite a bit already, and somebody on the Las Vegas system looks like they may be trying to get in there. Okay, I'll let you go, Mike. I'm gonna go take care of some things in the kitchen. With the help the wife. We already did our breakfast. We're gonna continue and get on with our day. Gotta do some shopping. Talk to you later. N6 kne.
Speaker A: Well, real quick, there's two Arizona guys. There's the All Star guy that you communicated with. And then there's K7 ofG, which who is not an All Star guy, but he's a vhf, UHF guy who drives to San Diego. He was driving to San Diego quite often. I don't know if he'll continue that because he used to have a boat in San Diego, but he sold the boat. So I don't know what's up for San Diego for him now. All right, have a great day with your lovely lady and enjoy Columbia. N6GRG36 link.

Speaker A: Good job on the nap the other day. Yeah, I try. Thanks for giving me a compliment though. How you doing, John? Sounds like you're stepping away from the radio as volume got real low. Hey, did you get detect the I guess it was an email that I sent you. What it was was I. I. It might have been the 11th. It was Gary stepping down from organizing the roster. So I'll be organizing it. But it's the roster you have is the one to go by. It'll be the new one coming up I think in April. Anyway, I'll probably be getting in touch with you to find out what's going on. We're trying to rost up some more people to help call the net so you're not calling it so often. Anyway, back to you.
Speaker B: Yeah, that would be fantastic. So the. The person I have I have a list from February maybe roster. I don't seem to have the schedule that you would schedule.
Speaker A: Well, I can send it to you again. I think you're calling it February 25, March 25 and April 22.
Speaker B: Find it here. I'm sure I'm sure I have it.
Speaker A: That's no problem. I can email it to you again and I. You should got a thing saying about that Gary was stepping aside. You still got a call in that but I'll be organized and trying to get you know find out when people want to call it so on like that. I'll email it again to you and look for that message. It went to the PM account. Anyway, I'll talk to you later. Any problems, you give me a phone call. You got my phone number anyway. You take care, John. 73s.
Speaker B: I have it. Probably the one that Gary sent out on February 10th. I have the one that Gary sent on February 10th which shows I got it on the 25th of February, March 25th and the 22nd of April.
Speaker A: N7DWG. Yeah, that's the one to go by and then the one starting. I guess I said April. It'll be in May. We'll come up with a new one and hopefully we'll have some extra guys on it. All right. See what you come up with. Feel free to call me anytime if you've got any ideas or you've got somebody you want to add on there as a person to call the net. We're hunting anyway. I'll be 73. John, nice talking to you.
Speaker B: All right.
Speaker A: For sure.
Speaker B: Great talking. You have a wonderful day. And thanks for taking over that. I know I used to do it before Gary did. I did it for probably a couple of years, coordinating scheduling. I. I think I might have been the one that came up with scheduling. Orderly week. Things will work out. Good. Sounds good. Have a great rest of your day. And take care. And R17 key located.
