Speaker A: Well,
Speaker B: good morning, Larry. I just logged into your Supermond for your 8. 0. I could. Couldn't find anything yesterday. Any information yesterday regarding
Speaker C: your password.
Speaker B: Good morning to you. How's everything up there? Yeah, I can get into supermarket problem. I can't get in on putty. Something strange happened to that.
Speaker C: To that password. Okay.
Speaker B: Yeah. If all else fails. Yeah. We can pull the SD card out, plug it back into your. Into your computer apparently. I'll. I'll double check that. Yeah, that may be what we'll have to do. Yeah, definitely nothing this morning. Maybe this afternoon. A new evening for me.
Speaker C: Okay.
Speaker D: Yeah, if.
Speaker B: I think if we're going to do that, it may be best just to. With the clear node. Yeah. Clear node. Sorry, I was computing clear node and shard. Yeah, we'll. We'll tackle that. One of these.
Speaker C: Okay. On your end. And putting onto my grocery cars.
Speaker A: I'm sorry, I had a
Speaker B: distraction here. What. What did you say about the SD
Speaker C: card? Oh, my friend Larry drags me and I say, oh, I say girl. Okay. All right.
Speaker A: Okay, sounds good. They
Speaker D: had our water
Speaker B: shut off here in our complex this morning without telling us. I left the sink wide open in the kitchen. I was. Let the water just be back. We're just getting d by it. I think so. Yeah. Even the red donut went away. So you know that kick fixed the firmware Software or whatever system 19 link off.

Hey, Mike, hold that.
Speaker A: Oh yeah, crazy hum going on there. Is it you or is that going to be the. Is that 25 doing that?
Speaker B: Yeah, it's 25. It's right next to a 10,000 watt transmitter and doesn't have all of 20 is in the same situation but it's 20 has top had added a lot of filtering. I don't know if you've ever seen the photo of all the shielding that's inside that box but shielding.
Speaker A: Yeah Bernie.
Speaker B: Right. Because when 20, when we put the Motorola the 20 it just went absolutely out of its mind with the interference. I don't know why it was so much more prone to interference than the old transmitter but it was and it just slipped out completely. So little by little he figured out that it needed this shielding. Quite elaborate bunch of shielding over every external wire and just over a hole. Lot of different things. Especially though the ctcss, you know every, every transmitter has two compact sub audible tone CTCSS system in a box on the side and they have to have
Speaker A: be completely shielded at that transmitter.
Speaker B: And I'm sure that's the same situation at 25. It's just not gone completely bonkers. So he was able to just leave it like it was.
Speaker A: It needs some shielding oil and braiding elbows.
Speaker B: Would you tell me that again? Cat 8.
Speaker A: Cat 8 cable, I think it is. Don't they have eight twisted pairs shielded with foil and
Speaker B: braid?
Speaker A: Can that be used for some of that equipment? Probably.
Speaker B: But he's gone with the same thing that he used at every single Carla transmitter. He just used the same wire and then he made his. He designed his own shielding. He bought this kind of pricey silver plated shielding and ran the wires through it, which I'm kind of wondering, you know, if maybe it could have been wrapped rather than having the wires disconnected and ran through it like that. But that's what I would try to do at 25 is wrap them because it's uninsulated silver plated sealed wire. Why not, you know, why not wrap it?
Speaker A: Yeah, you know I got you. I had a roll of Cat 8. I left it. I gave it to somebody. I may have even given it to you.
Speaker B: I don't know.
Speaker A: When I move down here I want to find another roll of it. I'm getting RF interference RFI into some of my radio nodes down here. I want to redo, redo some of it using some Cat 8 to help clean it up. Well besides all that, how's everything going up there? Did you get another onslaught of weather here yesterday, the day before
Speaker B: 24 hours, over 2 inches of rain. Everything is pretty well, buddy. A lot of water running around here. I don't know if any of the local people down in the valley were flooded again like they were last time when Redding. Flooded, swamped all the cars. Had cars floating around in the streets and stuff. I don't know if that happened. I don't think so.
Speaker A: Oh, okay.
Speaker B: Oddly enough,
Speaker A: it looks like shaping like it. Well, it's only down. Went down what, 28ft? That's not too terrible.
Speaker B: 28ft of snow or what? I'm not sure I understand.
Speaker A: The water level of Shasta Lake. I'm sorry? Yeah, I'm talking about Shasta Lake.
Speaker B: The of water level. It did come up quite a bit
Speaker A: just in the last. 30.
Speaker B: 20.
Speaker A: Let's see.
Speaker B: I don't even know.
Speaker A: I'm trying to find the scale here. Oh, it's just. Yeah, just the last 72 hours, the water level came up. Looks like it came up about four feet.
Speaker B: Well, yeah, it. What probably happened. I. You know, I don't have Internet right now, so I can't tell you if it did. But what probably happened was, was that it was localized like it has been in the past, where it hit Wiscon national park and everything. Just a little bit south of it, which is where I am. It could be that that's where all the biggest rain hit. And that could be why. Why it's the way it is. By the way, I did find my Wilson cradle that. You know, I'm supposed to put my cell phone in this cradle and then attach an antenna to the cradle. It's a system that really worked well in the past. So I did find it, and I might have Internet.
Speaker A: Okay, well, don't forget somewhere there you have that. You have that big old. That big old long yogi for high frequencies. I think it was 900 to 1800 megahertz or something. Unless you found a home for it. All right, well, I'll let you go and good to hear you. Yeah, it's a shame about 25. It's. Sometimes it's quiet, sometimes it's noisy. All right, you take care. I'll talk to you later. N6 kne.
Speaker B: I think it has to do with SWR on the broadcast gas transmitter that that gets into. Gets into 25. I think when there's SWR on the antennas from being iced up. They snowed. Have snow on them then they say ESWR causes RF on the coax, and the coax radiates into the equipment inside the shack that's my. My gap. By the way, I'm transmitting on a VGC N76, which is a really cool little aprs portable. And, yeah, I'm really happy to be able to. I had misplaced it and I found it. I've got it going. I've been going through a whole lot of things, so I'm find space. All right, talk to you later. N6 GRT. Stay. Stay cool.
Speaker A: Yeah, no problem. Currently 77 degrees. All right, talk to you later. Six kn.

Speaker B: Sorry, just by late. I'm back home. Just breakfast at a local ham sweat change hasn't been wet for a long time.
Speaker C: Oh, all right.
Speaker D: So I didn't know if you're on your corner
Speaker B: or what your.
Speaker A: One. I'm sorry. Well, at this point, I can still do pretty much everything here on my end. I don't need to teamview into you or anything like that. I'm trying to figure out another way to do it without you having to pull your SD card. So I've been a little bit busy with other stuff this morning. But later this afternoon for me. That's already one o' clock for me. Well, anyways, here shortly I'll be able to redirect my activities over to ham radio. No, no
Speaker B: problem, Kim. I'm just hanging around today, so. No problem. Whatever works out for you. All right, well, let's get back to the other.
Speaker A: All right, I'll talk to you later. Oh, Larry, turn up your volume on your 84 just in case. When I do get myself situated, I'll probably just give you a yell over there.

Speaker A: K6lnk system 36, snow mountain range. N6til in the Shasta Valley. Listening. Yes. N6 India Whiskey Hotel, I think name here is Kevin Kiloecho Victor Indian November in the Shasta Valley between Weed and Yreka. And the call sign's N6TIL. Just trying out a new radio here. Seeing. Seeing if I can get into distant repeater. So sounds like it might be working.
Speaker B: You know, I was gonna say
Speaker A: your
Speaker B: signal is almost perfect. Really. The audio is good and loud the way I like it. You're full quading into the machine. I mean what kind of radio is.
Speaker A: This is the newer Yaesu 85 watt radio, the 3185 with the AST enhanced receiver function. So just got it hooked up here and put it on the SWR watt meter and everything looks good. So just going through repeater book here trying to find something out in the distance. So am I correct that I'm. Where is this mountaintop? Am I going out on Stony Ford is what I can tell.
Speaker B: Yeah, I've heard Stony Ford before, but I don't know. I know there's a local PL and a link Pl and often users are advised to keep it short or go away. So anyway, I like the Lincoln system. You meet people. It's great ham radio camaraderie, you know what I mean?
Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. Well, thanks for coming back to me. It's partly sunny up here. We just got done with a couple days of rain but cleared up and it's a beautiful day here. Give me your. Give me your first name. I caught the call sign but I didn't get your name again. Name here is Kevin.
Speaker B: Yeah, it's Papa, Echo, Tango, Hecko or Peter. I mean, you know, I'll respond to a lot of different things, but yeah, really that's. You've got a crank and signal just absolutely perfect. What kind of antenna? Before you go.
Speaker A: Yeah, Pete, this is a. I think It's a diamond F22. It's a mono band, 2 meter vertical. It's about 10ft tall, white fiberglass. I think I got the model number right there. They claim it's a little over 6 decibels of gain, but you know how that goes. But yeah, I'm on a little bit of a hill here, so I've got a little bit of elevation and pretty low noise floor here. So yeah, I'm getting the repeaters coming back with a little, I'd say about 20, 30% white noise, but perfectly readable.
Speaker B: Sounds good. Real ham radio.
Speaker A: Yeah, this thing is a tank. It's like a huge heat sink that they added a radio to. Pretty impressive. So anyway, run in here at 85 watts and talk with you. And it's just barely getting warm, so. Anyway, hey, Pete, enjoy your day. Thanks for coming back to me and hopefully we'll talk again. Looking you're having some nice weather down there. Take care. 73N6 til Shasta Valley.
