GEARS W TX (146.115 MHz) recordings for 2026-03-16
Speaker A: Yeah. Kilo Kilo 6 Tango, November Casadero on a handheld.
Speaker B: How do you copy?
Speaker A: Believe I missed you.
Speaker B: I think the repeat or IV'd over
Speaker A: the top of you there.
Speaker B: Hey, good afternoon, this is KO6LYS up in Concord very nicely.
Speaker A: A little on the quiet side, but you're coming through. You're off at Santiago Wicherton. I was curious what your qph, what town you're at.
Speaker B: Sorry I couldn't copy that. First time up in Concord, east of San Francisco.
Speaker A: Okay, I'm down here at San Luis. Cisco County. That's a hall.
Speaker B: That's.
Speaker A: That's a pretty good haul.
Speaker B: It's a good couple hours for sure. It's pretty nice weather up here on the warmer side. Probably 80 degrees right now. What about down there?
Speaker A: That's probably 80, 79, 80 wind from the north. So we're getting that Salinas Valley breeze coming down the valley here to Withascadero.
Speaker B: Yeah, very nice. Yeah, it seems like there's always good weather down there. It's been a while since I've been maybe I think January last year I did a little motorcycle trip through there to Carrigo Plains. It's a beautiful great country out there.
Speaker A: Carrizo Plains. A long ways out there. Out in the middle of nowhere there, but yeah, time of year. But that'd be a great ride.
Speaker B: Yeah, last January I took the motorcycle down there and then that was my midway point all the way to Death Valley. Surprisingly everything about 6,000 still out there northwest of Death Valley property. Be back out there in a couple days here. So.
Speaker A: Yeah, you better make it quick. The weather's changing and starting to get hot already. Kind of early for this stuff. I looked at the weather down at my house in Santa Clarita where I live, and it was 90, 90 or 95 today.
Speaker B: What kind of a cliff are you Turning?
Speaker A: A Radtel RT950 Pro. Kind of a newer radio to me.
Speaker B: So really the first time I'm testing it on a repeater.
Speaker A: 10 watt radio. And yeah, it does all kinds of bands that probably shouldn't get into. But mostly I'm doing all my work on UHF with it. It'll do 220 as well. 900. Very cool.
Speaker B: I've got a little. I've been pretty impressed with it so far. It's got a really good battery.
Speaker A: Yes, mostly. This radio is 6 meters as well. If you have a proper antenna. I've got six meters programmed in and I've heard people talking. I just haven't transmitted with it yet. But I'll get it on a 6 meter antenna and give it a try.
Speaker B: Interesting. I got to look into one of those up. I've got one radio GMR and so open that whole can of worms. I got my license not too long ago so 2 meter and 70 centimeter is a good spot to start for the future. Got to keep going here. Nice to have you here. K6L Y S.
Speaker A: Yeah.
Speaker B: Step three.
Speaker A: Pleasure meeting your acquaintance and Kilo Kilo Tip Tango Lima November are clear on your final.
