GEARS E RX (146.250 MHz) recordings for 2026-01-07
Kr6ncx. This is k6gab. I was thinking so, but I don't have the list of who's supposed to do which night. Do you have that. That list?
Hey, good evening. This is K6JB Greg in North Chico. I will have some comments this evening. Thanks.
K6gab. So I'm actually doing kind of an early spring cleaning. I've got a number of items, including a true SDX, one of the little QRP radios. I've got a 30amp, 12 volt power supply. I've got FT60R handheld and a couple of mobiles. The details are all on my website is k6gab.com and you can send me an email at k6gab@outlook.com if you're interested or if you've got questions.
Yeah, I was gonna say that. I know that Gears has also got an account with a different credit card processor. So if people don't want to interact with PayPal, if they send an email to gears w6rhcmail.com they ought to be able to get in touch with Jim, who should be able to facilitate doing the credit card the other way around. The other thing, I had a nice trip up to paradise on Saturday, other than the rain. They had a yagi antenna build, and I learned how to build an antenna out of PVC pipe and an old tape measure. So that was pretty cool. And that's pretty much what I'm up to this week.
Speaker A: Yeah, everybody was building a VHF, you know, centered right around 145, 146 megahertz. You know, they could be doing them for other frequencies, too, but that's
Speaker B: where we started. Yeah, we cut up
Speaker A: the tape measure blade into, you know, precise lengths and mounted them at specific spots on the PVC pipe. And it really worked out pretty well. Somebody brought up a device to check them out, and everybody's SWR came out
Speaker B: pretty good. Yeah, the
Speaker A: driven element had a little gap in between it that needed to be joined with a hairpin, and then that's where the. The two terminals for the antenna connection also went. So there was a little bit of soldering, but it wasn't bad.
Video.
Speaker A: The gears neck will be held Tuesday night starting at 7:30pm all amateur radio operators are welcome to join in on the net W6RHC repeater check 2.
Speaker B: Sa. Sa. It. Sa. Sam. It.
Sam. It. Sam. Sa. Sam. It. Sa.
Speaker A: The Gears. Monthly general membership meetings are held on the third Monday night of the month at the Butte County Public Library, 1108 Sherman Avenue in Chico. Doors open at 6pm and the meeting starts at 7pm all are welcome.
Speaker B: Sam.
