2m Simplex (146.520 MHz) recordings for 2026-01-15

Ah, yes. It looks like the start of yet another beautiful day. 53 degrees this morning. A little bit cooler than yesterday. N6NTM Good morning.

Speaker A: And 6wip and 6 ntm. Pro. Been playing around here.
Speaker B: Gonna go down to Chico and do some wiring on John's log truck and. And deliver all the stuff I picked up to wire the shop. We didn't get everything, but we got some of it. Yeah. Yeah. I wanna want to hook up that Starlink mini, see how it works. But anyway, I want to work on that fan box too. I wish I wasn't going down to John's today, but anyway, I got up early this morning 33 26. And I figured I'd work on that air box. But by the time I got done farting around with everything else, well, you know how it goes.

They charged me $24 weight fee on the registration for the Corvette. Boy, I tell you.

Almost 200 on the vet, but anyway. Yep. And you know that that 38 Chevy pickup ought to be less than 25 bucks. What a rip.

Speaker A: Yeah, I don't do that. I buy all icon stuff. Lifetime warranty does everything Craftsman warranty did, no questions asked. They look up to see if you bought it and they hand you a new one. Yeah, I got. I got three sets, metric and American on the ratchet wrenches. Haven't had any problem with them breaking or anything. But icon, like I say, they're built better. And I got the little shorty, the stubby ones that. The wrenches are only about 3 or 4 inches, depending on what size it is. I like them shorties, same deal. Ratchet on one end and an open
Speaker B: end wrench on the other. That's Harbor
Speaker A: Freight's top of the line heavy dutiest, best warranty tool.

Oh, I don't know. Whenever I feel like it. They, they in the back, the north east corner of the store, they got the return stuff and people that come in and steal one screwdriver out of an eight screwdriver set or those wrench kits, you might, you should always check there, whatever you're going to get, especially if you're only looking for two wrenches or something there, you'd be half price or less. But anyway, yep, I, I've got Harbor freight sockets and stuff, big ones up to 2 inches. I never had any problem with them. And you know, I got some heavy duty impact stuff, Milwaukee three quarter inch drive. And, and I, you know, 25 years of logging. Their black sockets are pretty ballsy if I got no complaints with hardware freight tools. But I don't buy their cheaper ones. I get to get the better of their lot.

A month or a year. Yeah, well, they get away with whatever they want here in California because they're in bed with Newcome.

Yeah, it's a crooked deal. You see, Google left California. They sneaked out. They started doing it two years ago, but, yep, the business is big. Big businesses leave it. Leaving California left and right. So, you know, they're going to start on the homeowners and, and in order to create revenue. But Newscomb's almost out of there and there's quite a few very qualified people gonna be running for governor. And I seen that. I seen on YouTube yesterday or day before that, they're doing something about the voting here, so. Oh, yeah, hopefully they don't. They can't cheat at that. We'll see.

They'll do a forensic deal in California to see how much fraud there is, so. That's already in place. And I heard him talking about the voting machines there. The Maduro voting machines. I had no idea that stuff came from Venezuela. Lori's on the phone. I'll be back. I'm fixing.

Speaker A: So Trevor bought a projector for 299 bucks. She had a coupon for a hundred dollars off and it looks pretty damn clear. Color. I think it's only 1080, but it looks pretty. Looks pretty darn clear. Big old wall, Bobby, oh, 10 or 12ft wide and the, the height of his ceiling which he's got high ceilings there. The entryway is two stories but I'm gonna guess and say it's seven and a half, maybe eight foot ceiling in there. Floor to ceiling looks pretty good. I just can't tell you the, the brand or the model. Cheap. I'm supposed to get that one today, that Nebula X1.
Speaker B: Can't wait to play with that. Well, you, you
Speaker A: looked at the video when they played it on a hedge. Open air. I'm
Speaker B: going to try the garage door. Yeah, I look at tripod for it but they're,
Speaker A: they're not very beefy. I don't know what the heck's going on here. Looks like my phone makes a cha ching like a cash register noise all the time now. I don't know what it's trying to tell me though.

Speaker A: Well, they, I. They're just throwing away the votes or something because they, they advertise it enough. You got to get out and vote.
Speaker B: Everybody I know around here vot. Still got the sign. I finally took it down
Speaker A: about two weeks ago and put it behind the rock, but I could. I could spray paint and use it for other things.

Speaker A: So 399i and it's a tcl a1f
Speaker B: smart projector. Tcl a1s smart projector. F. Bam. You can get them at Walmart for 233 bucks. There's an 8K
Speaker A: refurbished outdoor projector and it looks like the same company I bought. I didn't know they made 8k once, but they did tell me down at Best Buy that the prices in their store have started to drop on the 4K ones because they're right on the
Speaker B: edge of coming out with 6 and 8K. It's just a coming thing.
Speaker A: Jay I I heard that there is some 10k content, but you know, if your your units can't process it.

Speaker A: Yeah, I know I spent too much but I can send it back. I. I did want to try it because it's got one button set up it. It does everything and it's got six glass lenses in it so. You know what? I know probably remember more. This one's only 1080p. It's not even 4K. But it does have 16 watts of Dolby Audio. Yeah,
Speaker B: 399. 600. Yeah. But Trevor's got a. A
Speaker A: completely black room. He put thick black curtains over all the windows. So. Theater room. Yeah. This one here says four. Hey, here it says it's four. Four. Okay. It says 1080 in the title P. Oh. What? That's weird. Maybe. Maybe you have to Upgrade. It says 600 lumens. I see here. Thanks to HDR10 and 4K video combat compatibility. Enjoy the ultra defined content. Four professional visual modes. Ideal. The 4K projector is designed with 600 ISO lumens. I don't believe any of this. This contradicts itself completely.

Speaker A: It says 3,500 ANSI lumens and a
Speaker B: 56,000 to one contrast. Yeah, I want to see what that micro gimbal does. The projector, I think it said £16.

Speaker A: Well, I don't know. Not even seeing the pounds. Now I got the measurements. 11 inches by 7.3 by 9.6. So
Speaker B: it's just a little thing. I told you, they're made by Anker, who made a lot of accessories for your headset.

Yeah, I think it's the same one. Same company anchor. Well, I know I looked the weight up the other day, and I don't see it now.

Speaker A: Pretty sure. I'm pretty sure anchor isn't made here in the United States, but I swear that I thought I saw that
Speaker B: was. Unfortunately they're cool ass
Speaker A: speakers, come with two mic phones. I'm not into any
Speaker B: of that, But anyway, I'm probably sending that
Speaker A: back, Jay. And maybe not. I always like to try the very best you can lay your eyes on. Amazon's great about returns, so
Speaker B: I'm just trying it. No, you don't buy a screen with it. I just bought the unit. No, no.
Speaker A: But most of the year we'll probably be using it in the house. Yeah, I'm thinking you ought to get. You ought to get Linda this 85 inch TV for her to watch.

Yeah, I'm with you on that. I've heard of a couple of catastrophes. I. I'm. I'm not going to let them do anything to me. Even though they. They got a great success rate. Nana this and smoking new, You know, technology and machinery and. Yep. I don't know. I'm pretty sensitive when it comes to the eye thing. I do notice that bright things. I'm more sensitive that as you get older, you usually are. Especially since they don't regulate the amount of light that somebody else's car can throw at you.

Speaker A: Yeah. I use my little set today to fix a microphone that. You know the, the jack that plugs into the radio, that little dinky screw. Thank goodness all those tips are, are magnetic because you lose that real easy. Which makes it nice to put it back into. I can't believe how powerful it is. And I just bought the big set and now that I moved turn that, that little set, the carousel, it already has a number two and a number one in it. So I really didn't need the bigger one. But it is stronger and everything. Yeah, they sure look nice. You're gonna, you're gonna, you're gonna take your soldering iron down there for show and tell this
Speaker B: morning. I'm gonna
Speaker A: pick up. Yeah. When you go to Harbor Freight. Look at those little vacuum. Like I got my 259B, that whole setup. That way you got the soldering gun, the little sponge pads. You could, you could get the base, the holder in one of those little deals. And
Speaker C: that way you have it all in one box. Those little vacuum sealed
Speaker A: foam filled deals are relatively cheap for what
Speaker B: they are. That's what I got in mind. But I haven't even wet it yet. Oh
Speaker A: no, you gotta push on it. You better feel it drop down twice and you want to solid connection. So I'm glad that it doesn't just slip in there and you tighten it down. Those are good connections.

Speaker A: If you do get a little box at Harbor Freight. Yeah, send me a picture. Maybe I'll have you
Speaker B: pick me one up while you're there. That's why I want the little carry
Speaker A: case, so I can put everything else all in one place. Oh, yeah, now I have to Google. Yeah, now. Now I have to Google anchor just to find out where it. What country they're in.

Speaker A: China. The worst place. You want to get anything from that Hunan. I think that's where the COVID virus
Speaker B: was. Oh, it's not. It's not
Speaker A: there. Its headquarters are in China. Change your shot. Yeah.

I'll probably never use half of the. Half of the little Torx bits. They're micro. Yeah, I would like to seen two drawers in the bottom. There's plenty of room for it. Yep. So far, so good. I really do like that drill, though. Tell you what, pretty strong motor. And the bigger one is even crazier.

Says Apple endorses Anchor comes with the mfi, whatever that is certification. Apple assures enthusiast Anchor accessories have undergone rigorous inspection and regulation.

Not even going to look at any more of their stuff because I. There's a bunch of stuff I'd like to have from them. I'm happy with what I got, though.

I can't believe how accurate this dog is. I don't let her out until 7:30. See, it's 7:32. She comes and bumps my leg with her nose and heads for the door.

Do you know what a keystone correction is? Yeah. Key keystone.

Say you got a ceiling fan hanging down in your front room. That Nebula 1x1 will correct for that. Not sure how it can do that, but won't send any light past the fan. Like, you know when somebody walks in front of a projector and you can see it somehow it can shoot the rays light through the bottom of the lens and you don't see decorations or other things on the screen, it makes the adjustment for it.

Speaker A: Oh, here's something interesting, jay. It says it has 600 ISO lumens. ISO lumens cannot be falsified, unlike ansi
Speaker B: lumens. Now I gotta go look up
Speaker A: what ISO and. And see where did I just find the two different things?
Speaker B: Yeah,
Speaker A: ansi.

Speaker A: Yeah, the hf auto. I have two of them. All right. Another. Another excuse
Speaker B: to use a fan tip screwdriver.

Okay, here's the deal. Not all lumens are the Same. ANSI Lumens vs LED Lumens vs Light Source Lumens, how to convert different units back to Ansi lumens, and finally, Ansi brightness, the gold standard for measuring brightness.

Speaker A: Yeah, that was interesting yesterday when you told me that. Well, this ansi, they're looking at all four corners of brightness. The nine zone average. I
Speaker B: like it. Basically all
Speaker A: they're bragging about at 35,500 lumens is you can. You can run other light sources in your front room or even watch it in the daytime with your blinds open. And you're still going to be looking at a nice clean 4K picture.
Speaker B: Oh, boy. All right,
Speaker A: well. Yep. I got a million things I could be doing around here, but I. Who knows? I may show up. What time you think you're actually going to get there?
Speaker B: Check. Well, I may see you. I gotta go down to John's anyway. All right. Good morning, everybody. N6 ntm.

Speaker A: Delta
Speaker B: julie. Number three is the city of Fairfield. Standby
Speaker A: there.
Speaker B: Lbp.
Speaker A: Isn't that nice, dad? The HRO got Mike, but he couldn't
Speaker B: bottle. You guys going to pick? Yes, the
Speaker A: never ending emptying hobby of amateur radio. Well, congratulations there, 73. And don't leave all your money there. Save some money for some candy. SSMQ 73 from the pickle, aka Mount Zaka jar. What are you doing up this time of the
Speaker B: day? It's lunchtime. All right. Living the life of leisure.

Yeah, I'll get with you on that. Yeah. Oh, wow. Yeah. I thought you were taking a break from that for a while, like a lull in the activity, which is a good thing. Oh, wow. Okay. Well, that's good, though. So that means, once again, your full.

That's true. Yeah. Your services are always needed, buddy. I'll give you a call and start checking over that, see what you got.

Yep. And the mp stands for more power. What kind of.

Okey dokey. I'll have to eyeball that list and see what else you got. Okay. Alrighty. J.R. it's always a pleasure to hear your voice. Grab yourself a snack and rest a little bit because you've definitely earned it.

Speaker A: Oh yeah, you know what? I agree on that. Yes. When I was a younger man, I could eat the carrots of cakes, but no longer. Can't do that. Anyway, the natives are getting restless. I hear them creeping underneath their signal. But you're on top of the pile,
Speaker B: 73 Junior.
Speaker A: Have a good one. This is Kilo 6 Delta Juliet keeping an eye on the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation crews. They're doing. They're
Speaker B: hacking on some weed. Oh, let's see. Let's switch a little w1. Was that ek? No, w1ej. Pinnacle rock. Okay, you're 50 over S9 to mount back. Where is Pinnacle Rock?
Speaker C: Bob Clear Lake.
Speaker A: Okay, got it, got it. Okay, that's a pretty good clip from
Speaker B: me. Yeah, big signal down here. You doing? Were you doing a potassium? So wonder where my microphone when you're doing a sota and a pota? Oh, yeah, see, I used to be able to do that when I was a young man, but yeah, my hiking days are over.
Speaker C: Roger,
Speaker A: roger. W1ej. Enjoy that delta and hopefully I'll be able to make contact with you at the next delta 73, kilo 6, delta juliet victor, mount vaca.
Speaker B: I like carrot cake. Hello there, wa6e k s.
Speaker C: I'm pickling. Oh, thank you very much, young man. Thank you. Okay,
Speaker B: stand by there, eks. Who was that trying to squeeze in between us?
Speaker C: Roger, roger. Lbp.
Speaker A: Yeah, see, it's a vegetable, Jim. Carrot cake is a vegetable. And
Speaker B: Bill
Speaker A: wants to
Speaker B: know how come he can't hear Jim.
Speaker C: Oh no, you were talking. He couldn't hear you though. I don't know. Where are you, Bill? Oh yeah, so yeah, you should be able to hear
Speaker B: Jim. That's what Grizzly island, whatever it is. Grizzly, Grizzly Adams.
Speaker C: Got
Speaker B: it,
Speaker A: got it. Okay. I don't know. We do have some oddball conditions.
Speaker B: Kilo 6 Delta Juliet Victor beaming north by northeast. Hello.
Speaker C: Someone tried to squeeze in there. Who that. We have a
Speaker A: celebrity there.
Speaker B: Hello there, T A X. Another founding member of the two meter crew. Yeah, Carlos
Speaker A: was in here just a few minutes
Speaker C: ago. Oh, I appreciate that. Thank you. Can you hear
Speaker A: Tim? You guys are very
Speaker C: close.

Speaker A: Oh,
Speaker B: amw. Don't go away. Don't. Don't be clear yet. No, hang on a second. You know, actually, after I left Vallejo, it wasn't that bad at all. It was like no
Speaker A: more fog. Eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for me. I have a banana.
Speaker B: Oh, wait. Yeah. Bye. Bye.
Speaker A: Ted, A station at a Lodi. Are you still there? A w. Yes. Good afternoon. How are things in lodi? Oh, yeah, that's true. Yeah. Enjoy that fog. It's free of charge.
Speaker B: It sure is. It's clearer than that. Yeah, it's. It's very clear fog to my east. Ish. But I could still see these
Speaker A: Sierras. They're just not
Speaker B: high enough. If EKs were to turn on his remote base, you would
Speaker A: hear him. K06a and
Speaker B: w73. And enjoy lodi for me. This is kilo 6 delta juliet victor. Bye bye. All right, one more time. Beaming north by northeast. Ish kilo six delta juliet victor. Hello.
Speaker A: Oh, there is a
Speaker B: call sign I have not heard in a long time, and I was getting worried. The man, the Myth, the legend. W6K a P.
Speaker A: Good afternoon, sir. You're right. Yeah. And it is
Speaker B: nice. Yeah, it's very nice above the clouds. A little breezy up here, but. Yeah, it is very nice. Long time no talk to.
Speaker A: How are things going? Ah, very nice. You've been
Speaker B: keeping 440 alive. Well, well, thank you very much. I keep saying I'm going to go over there one of these
Speaker A: days. Yes. Okay. Yep, try that. Well, thank you very much for checking in. And don't be a stranger. We're all still here. And there
Speaker B: he
Speaker A: goes. The legend w6k ap volcano.
Speaker B: Have a good afternoon. And there's the other big station, WA6EKS on the remote base.
Speaker A: Kap. You heard him.

Speaker A: Oh,
Speaker B: yeah, yeah, we used to hear him all the time. That's why I was getting worried about the old captain.
Speaker A: The captain of my heart.
Speaker B: Okay, Yeah, I was worried about him, but he was loud up here, as he always is. 50 over. S9. 55. And I'm
Speaker C: not even pointing that way. Yes, I think he probably turned his power down so we could have a chance. Ah, got it. Got it. Okay. Oh, he went away with Ko6. Aw, With that frosty mug taste.
Speaker A: And anybody else out there to my north. Kilo 6, Delta, Juliet, Victor. That was a pile up there.
Speaker C: A and W, stand by. Who was the station calling? The Pickle. Okay, Paradise Station, standby. Who's the whiskey station? Whiskey6, box trot, charlie, charlie, charlie, charlie.
Speaker A: In
Speaker C: red bluff, is that correct?
Speaker A: Right. Boxtrot, Foxtrot,
Speaker B: Charlie.
Speaker A: Oh, almost.
Speaker B: Almost. Scc. That would have been perfect if it was. Oh, that's pretty cool. Okay, you're mobile in Red Bluff. You're very close to that big old mountain that.
Speaker A: I think I could see the tip of it here. Oh, sir, I wish you could take me with you. I'd love to go with you to the state of Jefferson.
Speaker C: Oh,
Speaker A: bless you, sir. Bless you, sir. We'll drive safely. Good signal out of
Speaker B: the
Speaker A: Mobile there. And
Speaker B: maybe someday you'll get on top of a mountain up there and
Speaker C: we'll talk simplex.
Speaker A: Roger,
Speaker B: roger.
Speaker A: Okay, 73, yak at you later. Kilo 6, Delta, Juliet, Victor. On the Pickle.
Speaker C: You could hear him on the remote. Okay. And there was a station doubling with you. Who was that? Now,
Speaker A: that's that Kap that I know and love. Welcome back. I'm so glad you're back.
Speaker C: And now he's gone. It sure was.

Speaker A: Annie remembers your name. No one remembers my name. See? Well, that's because I talk to you every day. But I appreciate that. Thank you. That is correct. Yes. Standby. Station in Paradise. Come on in. Oh, yeah. K06k kw. Good afternoon. Yikes. Yeah, you must have been off the rear end of the beam. Yeah, I'm not quite dialed in at you, but yeah, I can hear you just fine. Roger, Roger. And I appreciate you helping me keep 2 meter simplex alive. And now paradise is gone.
Speaker B: I'm gonna turn the antenna. We're gonna face it to the east. K60JV. I'm getting too old,
Speaker A: You know. I don't know how to read.
Speaker B: Oh,
Speaker A: that's true.
Speaker B: Hang on, I gotta spin
Speaker A: the thing.

Speaker A: Was that, ted? That RF gain? Yeah. You should turn that knob and the signals will drop down. Sometime. You must touch it in order to experience the truth. Just go ahead and touch it. I won't tell
Speaker B: who. Me. Yeah, you're in the null of my beam because I'm pointing east towards the Sierras.
Speaker A: Yeah,
Speaker B: you sound the same way here. Yes, sir. I'm sorry. I can see it looks like Shasta, but the Department of Corrections vehicle is in the way. Oh, yeah. See,
Speaker A: I
Speaker B: was gonna. Yeah, I took a picture when I was up here last week and I could see Shasta and that big black thing next to it. What's the name of that one? Yeah, I can see that. Yeah, I'll have to send you
Speaker A: that picture. Yeah, yeah, it's like, what the hell's that big black
Speaker B: thing? Yeah, you can see it's plain as day. Looks like a little cone.
Speaker A: Sounds like my ex girlfriend on payday. Parasitic cone. I could see it a little bit, but there's. You know, the prison truck is in the way. Oh, yeah. No, it's. Yeah, it's the
Speaker B: biggest thing with white stuff all over it with that black thing right next to it.

Well, wait a minute everybody. There's a YL on frequency. Stand back and stand down. Yl, come on in. It's a ko6 lima sierra echo. See, I remembered your call sign. And when you key up, we all stand back and stand down. Good afternoon. I appreciate that. Yeah, now that you got your license, you can just grab that microphone whenever you want. I know, right? It's got so many of them there that's confusing. It's almost like you're one of those old timey telephone operator things. Oh, that's great. Yes, and never let him forget that. I guess that could. Yeah, yeah, that could be considered. Well, I mean, it is the right microphone that, but just the difference. Vfo. But you sound great. As usual, you are deep into the red. It means your signal is great. 73, have a great afternoon up there. Where are you? LSE. Pollock. Pine. Pollock. Pollock. Pol. Where are you? Pollock. Paella. Well, you can hear her. She's got a big signal. I have a hard time saying that. Have a great day. Special kymbolic. It's like the thing in the center of your head. Cowlick. Yeah. Pollock. Pollock. Ah, you know what I mean. Okay, k60jb beaming east. Anybody there? There he is. Our antennas are almost touching. Hello there, Bo. Hello there, great grandson. Aw, hello there, great grandson. Oh, that's nice. Yeah, get him into the hobby. Nice and early. Aw, just those little voices. It just touches my heart. Bye bye. K6ejb. Looking at the Sierras. Anybody else out there? India Hotel, Juliet. Your voice sounds familiar. Larry. As in Crazy Larry Auto sales. Yeah, big signal. Full scale signal, in fact. Congratulations, sir. You are my first full scale signal of the day. See, I'm on top of Mount Vaca, just outside of the city of Vacaville, in between Fairfield and Vacaville. I could just about see you from here. I shall. It's beautiful up here. Me and the Department of Corrections, we're all just kind of hanging out together. 73 from the pickle. K6DJB. So long. Oh, someone was squeezing in underneath the warm blanket of Jim. Who was that? Jason, Call and try one more time. Oh, okay. There's a whole bunch of stations there. Rdu, Felix, standby, WIQ to the north. Ish of me. Hello. Let's see. Jim, are you still on the remote? Can you hear the signal from Magalia? Come on back in, Blake, give us another transmission. N6WIQ. The smartest man in ham radio because he's got IQ in his call side. I'm smart sometimes. Where is the n6wi p. Okay, will you tell them we said hello from the pickle? Now isn't that weird? I never had signal up here, but he just text me and it actually went through so he is listening and I'm afraid to touch it because the signal will go away. Well, hello there, N6WIP. Thank you. Oh wait, isn't he at a Starbucks thing today? Or is that on Fridays? Using up the free WI fi again, huh? Huh? Yeah, yeah, I guess you got a point there. Anyway, 73, I'm gonna spin the antenna here in a little bit. Kilo 6 Delta Juliet Victor. Have a good Friday. Or Thursday. Sorry. The smartest man in ham radio. N6wiq73 bye. Bye.

Speaker A: Hi. No, no, I just made the signal
Speaker B: worse by turning the antenna. It was way
Speaker A: down in the noise like it was in China.
Speaker B: Hey, you're right. That would have been cool. Okay, I'm gonna pull the antenna down now. This is the sad part.
Speaker A: Yeah, that'll last for about 10 seconds.
Speaker C: Was that you, Cliff? Cws. Oh, hang on. Let me turn the antenna.
