2m Simplex (146.520 MHz) recordings for 2026-01-17

Body. Whatever, But I'll try. I've got one pepper plant, two of them in paradise, so. It.

Speaker A: Yeah. But I did go up to Yankee Hill to the store there. The hardware store. Good place for soil amendments and fertilizer. Yep. That guy's a nice guy, too. So in case you ever need any of that. But I just bought
Speaker B: a bag of Nutri pellets.

Speaker A: Yeah. Solar storm, though, you know? Yeah, that'll work on
Speaker B: 80 meters. Not very good. Yeah, I think Dan alluded to that on that little text message from stuff, but, yeah, they work okay for something. I don't know what exactly, but yeah, you'll need to put up a wire antenna.

Yeah, just not. Not for NVIs, which is what he's after. So his takeoff angle is way low. Yeah, I don't know. Yep. So, anyway, I don't think that those JPC 12. I mean, I have one. I have the chevrons, and I take mine out 40 meters. They're not that good either, to be honest. Like, right now, I'm getting into China and Russia and stuff, so I think it just depends on what you're after. So 40 meters. All I can get is from Utah west. That's it. I'm 40. Utah to the west. I've never gotten anything further than pretty much Utah, so I'm 40.

Speaker A: I think it's a great antenna. Just gives my opinion, you know. And when I've used mine out with 100 kronas I don't get very much on 40. So that's just my opinion I guess. And yeah, I'm mostly in the valley so I'm not up there, I don't know, 20, 500ft or more either, so that might make a difference. But I think if you compare it to on 40 and 80 and you compare it to a wire antenna and you know on 40 I get a lot more with this off center fed way more than I get with that little vertical. And on the 80 meters NVIs you don't have to be very high. It can be literally 20ft off the ground. Mine is. And I can be heard within a few hundred miles on 80 meters.
Speaker B: Maybe it's not great, but I could be heard. Oh yeah, I gave him my report. Yeah, he was,
Speaker A: you know, about 5, 5 or I think it was 10 over here in Chico on that. And my, I had, I had an S9 Noise 4 so it was like a solar storm going on.

Yeah, I think both you guys sound great this morning. And Blake doesn't usually come in as good as he is, so I'm not hearing any pulsing, but, you know, I don't know what my squelch level is or anything either, so can't say.

Kn6MGK. I almost wondered if you guys doubled on that last one.

Speaker A: Well I just got 8 report FT8 and then that's bad than yesterday morning.
Speaker B: Yesterday morning 40 meters was garbage. Yeah Next Saturday so if
Speaker A: the weather holds out it's looking like it might the GARS group will be down there at the Blackfoot Lake kind of that same place we were except not all the way that in just by the restroom area probably like around 7 o' clock to. I doubt I'll be. I won't be there till 8 probably and think you can start doing field Day until 11. So anyway yeah Winterfield and then the gears group later on in the afternoon is going to be over there in Oroville probably at the FOOTHILL no the Thermalito 4 may whatever over there. Yeah that's what they're going to be in the afternoon now they're starting too late if you ask but they're both podocytes right So a person could you know ex me on the winter field day and just do poda one or they can do both. So anyway which is probably what I'll do somehow or another. You know operate. Operate for GARS for a while and then do maybe my own thing for a little bit too. We'll see.
Speaker B: We'll see. I don't know. You guys don't want to have any fun.
Speaker A: I'm thinking about going out this morning. I haven't decided yet. It's still turn if you need to decide anything like that and the problem too cold right now so maybe
Speaker B: I'll wait until this afternoon later. Yeah that's cool.
Speaker A: Yeah I've got lots of work to do around the house here this weekend really so I just haven't decided but I mean it is really hard to not do something with the kind of weather we've been having. You know last week or so gotta get out yesterday I mean I was in my T shirt I mean working it was 65 degrees KN6MGK.
