This is kn6pju on gears east requesting a radio check. Kn6pju.kn6pww. Hi, Jamie, this is Dennis. Can you give me a radio check? Yeah, Dennis, you're sounding pretty good. There's a little bit of a background 60 cycle hum, but I give you a 5, 9. I appreciate that. Are you doing the net tonight or somebody else? Yeah, I've got the net on the first, first Tuesday of the month. Well, I'm supposed to do the GMRS net and I'm struggling to get a radio working correctly. So I'm going to check in if that's okay, and I'll let you do the net, but I won't be there when you go around. Okay, cool. Hey, what's your, what's your GMRS Call sign? WRMA990. Okay, I copied WRMA990. Yeah, I'll turn on a GMRS radio if you're looking for a radio check there too, up until the time the net starts. I can give you a check on Bloomer. I appreciate that. I've actually been getting radio checks over there and I sound horrible, apparently. So I decided to try this antenna and the amateur radio station which you've helped me out with. So I don't know if it's an antenna issue, my GMRS antenna or radio, or a combination of many things. Anyway, I'm struggling a little bit with it, so. Thanks, Jamie, but, yeah, you don't need to switch over. There's plenty of people over there telling me how bad I sound already, so thanks. Please, they can hear you. Okay, I'm gonna let you go then. KN6PWW. Clear. KN6PJU. Clear as well. Thank you.
This is kn6tww. Jamie and chico informing you all that the gears weekly net will start in about five minutes. Kn6pww.

For any late members, visitors Want to check in. If you copy me at 60 UK? Clarence, I did not copy it. I do now. Are you gonna stick around? I'll be here for the duration. But I got a request. A K6 RCS gaffed with a comment from earlier. I got K6RC. Yes, but there was a double there. K6 res. You have a. You have a quick comment? Yeah. I just want to mention that Lok was trying to get in there earlier. But he managed to get in. I just wanted to mention that I may have been tripping up net controls comp. So that may have been why you. You were seemingly not making the repeater. But I was trying to mention that Lok was trying to make it without the right Pl or input. I happen to be listening to one of the reverse. So anyway, back to that control. K6RCS. I just wanted to mention that I'm very rarely on here at this time. So back to that control. Well, thank you very much. Let me see. And there was a double in there. Someone from Linda, maybe kilo, India 6 uniform, Juliet x Ray. Michael and Linda. Yes. Hello. India 6, uniform, Juliet X Ray. I've got you checked in. Thank you very much. I'm going to break for just a moment here. Sorry about that brief break there. I'm not used to running these nets yet. I'm getting better at it though. So. That sounds like all the Late members and visitors. Anybody else? Very good. It's time for the Swap segment. If you have any ham radio related items to sell, trade giveaway or want, please respond with your call sign. Well then hurt. So before we start the roundtable are there any other late check ins? And first on the roundtable is KN60WW Internet Control for this evening and I do not have much to add so other than actually one little thing through Butte County Cert, the Community Emergency Response Team. We have a an emergency notification group. We've actually at times get called by the sheriff's department to make emergency notifications. We actually use the Gears repeaters, both the repeaters as part of our emergency notification system. So I'd like to thank Gears for having those repeaters. Next up is Jim. K6 EST. What you got Jim? Good evening Jamie and thank you for doing the net. I really don't have much to add. I did enjoy the sunshine today. Was nice to to to get warm and take a nice walk in the sun. Back to you. Was nice today but I was stuck inside waiting for a contractor. Let me see KF6NCX Larry, what's, what's shaking out there? This is KF6NCX Larry and Chico. Well, I thought I'd mention some opportunities to work dx. Good opportunities in the first case. Coming up this weekend is the ARRL International DX contest. This is the single sideband or phone version of the contest contest. So you get to hear lots of interesting accents as people all over the world try to work stations in the US and Canada and those are the only stations that they can work. So it's happy days for us being the target of all these guys. The Contest starts at 4pm on Friday and runs all weekend till I think 3pm on Saturday, Sunday. And so just you're just listening for guys calling CQ Contest or CQ Test, maybe cqdx. If you hear someone with an unusual call sign to reach them, just say your call phonetically and they'll tell you 599 and a number which is their power could be 5 watts, not too likely, but possible or 100 watts or a kilowatt and then you just tell them back 599 Charlie Alpha for California and you've got a DX contact. So that's going on this weekend. It should be fun. And there's something else. I'll drop this for just a second. And that's a DE expedition going on from Bouvet island, which is this tiny rocky icy island to get to it, you just get in a boat or ship, more likely from Cape Town, South Africa and, and head southwest towards Antarctica for about, I think, a thousand miles or something like that, maybe more, and you get to this island. Sounds easy, but it's not because the weather is terrible down there and the sea is treacherous. There have been some good de expeditions from there in the past, but not real recently. Some guys tried it in 2018 and the weather was so bad that they weren't able to make a good landing or do any operating. Some guys tried again in 2019 and they got within 63 miles of the island and the weather was so bad the captain said they had to turn back. And this takes a lot of expense and planning. Anyway, these guys are, I think there now. They may be operating. Dill may have some more information on this, but this time they took a helicopter on their ship, I understand, so they could land on the island no matter how rough it was. The call sign is 3Y0K3YANKEE0KILO. So if you get lucky, you might hear them and make a contact. Okay, that's it for me. Jamie, back to you. This is Larry, KF6NCX. Thanks for that, Larry. You know, I just looked at that on my, my map here up on the wall and that is pretty much the middle of nowhere and it's in looks like zone 38 down there, south of Africa. That's amazing. Yeah. And I wanted to ask you about exactly where that place was since, since you mentioned it in the email. Well, next up, KN6QXL. Darrell at 6QXL. About the only thing I've got is I've been on the phone several times today talking to people about our change. Coming up on going to Gears west, everybody seemed very positive toward it. Well, that's good. We should get some. We should get some pretty good coverage from Gears West. And I know there's some, there's some members now that can not hit Gears east, so we should get a little bit better attendance. Lok, let me see. KD6lok. Doug, thank you. First, I'd like to thank Larry for letting you know that I was in there even though I was transmitting on 100 PL instead of 110. Do not know how that happened. I've been using this radio for a couple of years now and don't have any idea how that happened. The other thing is when is the change going to be to the west? I was busy doing other stuff and not paying attention to the net when you mentioned that that change will be the first. The first net in April, that is Tuesday, April 7th. So we'll make announcements between now and then and we'll see if we can get a. An automated announcement on the. On the east repeater as well. Okay, thank you. I think I've got a pretty good view of that one over there as well, so It'll be interesting. Seven, three all. Katie six lok. Thanks. Doug. About the N60 UK. Clarence, got anything? Oh, no, I. I did the same thing Doug did. It was my HD and I. I had the wrong feeling there. I got egg on my face. So. Doug, you're not alone. We're two pieces. Two peas in a pot there, buddy. Anyway, that's why. I wonder why I wasn't getting in. So anyway, I'm on the mobile radio right now. So anyway, I'll. I'll be standing by for your landline after that there. 73. Everybody have a good night. All right, thanks. Sometimes those buttons seem to push themselves. KC6UFE, Bill D6UFE Bell and Capay pushing everybody's buttons tonight. So, yeah, I had a. Interesting weekend. Enjoyed the 160 meter band contesting. That was kind of fun. I like that band. And as far as that group is down there in the middle of nowhere, I think they call it the Boonies or something. Bouve Island. The best way to follow them is to use DX Summit and load up a couple of web pages with the different bands on. They can just flip from page to page and see where they're transmitting from. And they also have something going on on Facebook. They're active now and I think so far this Evening they're doing FTA on the 40 meter, your band. So I haven't contacted them yet, but I'm sure giving it a try. So back to you, Jamie. KC6UFE. All right, thanks for that, Bill. Let me see, how about. Can.
K6ylh Jevin, you still there? Yeah. Good evening Jamie and the Net. This is Devin K6YLH mobile via EchoLink and I, I too am excited about the Bouvet expedition. I've never worked Bouvet so it will be an all time new one for me if I, if I'm able to work them. I have been able to hear them on SP8 40 meters and very faintly on 40 meters PW, 30 meter CW and I think 15 PW the other day but it's not strong enough that I could reasonably work them on that mode. I think I should probably get through on FT8 if there weren't so many other. Obviously the pile ups are pretty big right now and there is some of that QRM that's intentional. Unfortunately the reality of the expeditions now sadly, but hopefully not too much of that, you know, such that people won't be able to still make some good contact with the expedition. There's also a expedition on right now in West Africa. Juliet51 Alpha I think is the call site and Desacheo island is also on the air with a GX edition. I have been able to work those guys on a couple of dams so I recommend checking those GX systems out as well. All right, back to net. Hope everyone has a good week. All right, thanks Jevin. And just so you get a signal report, you're just about readable but really glad we got you in and heard about that other D expedition. That sounds pretty cool. How about KI6UJX? Michael? Nothing. This too busy with work to do anything amateur radio wise. Well, it's good to get you checked in anyway. And that is the role as I have it. Are there any other, any other additional comments or questions for the net tonight? KC6UFE. KC6UFE. Bill, go ahead. Thanks Jamie. I just, I wanted to make a suggestion that maybe we send an email around with the frequency pair and PL for the Gears west repeater. Make sure everybody's on board. That's it, back to net. Good suggestions. I copy that down and we'll make sure that happens. I really appreciate that. Yeah, we'll be saturating as much as we can. Email is a good way to do it. Any other last minute comments or questions for the Net tonight? Well, hearing none. This concludes this week's Golden Empire Amateur Radio Society Club Net.
