Speaker A: copy. Thank you.

Speaker A: Good evening, this is ak6jn located in williams, your net control station tonight for the gar's Monday night net. This net meets every Monday evening at 2000 hours local time using either the af6oa or the w6grc repeater. We will use the W6GRC machine on odd months the year and on the even months of the year we will be using the AF6OA machine for our nets. This is a directed net. Please make no transmissions unless cleared by Net Control. When checking in, please give your call name, a signal report and if you have any traffic for the net or if you wish to be included in the Talk Back segment. That control has no announcements for tonight. Are there any stations that do have announcements? Please come now.
Speaker B: KI6SMF.
Speaker C: Go ahead, Phil.
Speaker B: Yeah, this is Kilo NB6 here. By November, a number of you had indicated an interest in participating in the Emergency Communications Incidents Simulation Net. I had hoped to launch that tomorrow, but some things have gotten in the way. Still working on it and hope to possibly be able to do it yet still in the month of January. So stay tuned to your email and go let it drop and come back. And if you did get one of the emails from me over the weekend notifying about the delay, please respond. That's the way I'm tracking what level of interest people have. The email contained three options and so please reply to that email and let me know and I will hope to try to get the Net operational before the end of the month. This is KI6SMN, back to net
Speaker A: Copy. Thank you Phil for that announcement. I'm sure everybody who's interested, we'll get back with you. Are there any other stations with announcements? Please come now.
Speaker D: KF6OVI.
Speaker A: Go ahead, Mike.
Speaker D: Yes, just want to remind everybody about the upcoming Winter Field day on the 24th of this month. And the main page on the website has been updated a little bit. The PODA side page did not go live on the 9th as it was supposed to. I don't know what happened there. So the person that set that up, Kylie, she is due in by midnight tonight on their long trip back from Florida. So I will be finding out from her and we'll get that updated. Also, there's the possibility we'll be maybe playing with the Fox doing a Fox Hunt on that day. So it appears right now that Gears is having their own winter field day over in Oroville. And so I don't know that there will be many members coming our way, any of their members anyway. I Just wanted to let everybody know that watch for emails and the website to see if there's any changes. KF6 Obi back to net control.

I sent that email out to about 26 stations and some as far as the eastern time zone. So we'll see what happens. Back to net. This is KI success event. Thanks Joe.
Speaker C: You're very welcome.

At this time I would like to check for guest check in. Do we have any guests this evening? Hearing none. We will move to the talk back section of the net
Speaker C: first.
Speaker A: We've got Bill and Cape. What have you got for us, Bill,
Speaker E: AC6UFE, Bill and Capay. Good evening to the group and looks like we're just hanging a couple of degrees above the freezing out here and at night so we're staying away from the actual freezing the pipes. So that's not bad. A little bit of frost but it's going to start warming up a couple of degrees anyway from the rest of the week and the bands are kind of sliding into their winter characteristics. 20 meter band pretty much shuts down when the sun goes down. Leaves us with 40 and 80 and 160. Still a lot of noise on those bands of all kinds of. So you have to kind of pick and choose if you want to work them. Not much else going on. I'm gonna stay here at the home QTH for the winter field day and the potas and stuff like that. It's just a little bit chilly out there for me. So back to net kc6ufe
Speaker A: Cappy thank you Bill. Yeah, I've noticed in the mornings when I'm getting up and going out to do crossing guard duty that frost on the windshield.
Speaker D: So.
Speaker A: Yep, right. Hovering around the freezing mark. Moving on, we've got KC6UIS Bob in Elton Creek. What do you got for us, Bob
Speaker C: Casey 6UAS well, going on top of Bill's comment I'd like to mention a new product I found. It's called the Freeze Miser and what it is, you put it on your hose bib and you turn it on and when the water with temperature outside gets down to freezing it will let enough water go through to keep your pipe free Freezing. I think it's a wonderful product. I have it and haven't seen freezing up here in Elk Creek yet so I haven't really installed it yet but I am going to as soon as it starts to get colder up here. And let's see, I had another comment
Speaker A: and oh, you know what, it has
Speaker C: left the arena so KC6UIS pacinet
Speaker A: copy. Thank you, Bob. We'll circle back around you and see
Speaker D: if whatever it was that left your
Speaker A: head came back at one of the morning nets that I attend. We've actually discussed that. It's a Comparison of a cue ball hitting a rack of balls that people you hit it with one and all of the other thoughts that you had just shoot off in all kinds of different directions.
Speaker C: So I can relate to that.
Speaker A: That happens to me quite frequently with that moving over with Mike and Willows, what have you got for my reverse Mike?
Speaker D: Kf6 Obi here. Good evening Joe and Annette. And yeah, on the weather. It was at 32 degrees was when I got up this morning and that was before 6. With the temperature inversion that we've had. The next couple of days we're going to have some valley fog or tule fog. Tule fog came in this morning into Willows, but it was gone by by about 10 o'. Clock. It burned off. I have been rebuilding one of my off center fed dipoles, one we've used several times during field days here at the property. And there was nothing really wrong with it, but I'm rebuilding it anyway and really setting that up for tuning and to use during one of Phil's exercises with the drt. I also have a new N fed half wave to set up and test and one that I've repaired. I need to get that tested again. So been working on some antennas. When the sun's out and it warms up a little bit, that's all I have this evening. KF6 Obi back to net control.
Speaker A: That kind of reminds me, I've been working on a new ground plane for my JPC 12 vertical antenna. Got some 18 gauge wire that I'm going to be taking 12 ground wires and spreading them out about 20ft long,
Speaker D: which is a little bit better than
Speaker A: what I had before. Standby. Bob, coming back to you, did you remember what you wanted to talk about?
Speaker C: Okay, 66 UIs. I did remember and what it was was about our current rainfall number. And I want to make a comment also about news reporting. So here we go. Up here in El Creek. I just made 17.9 inches for the rainy season which starts July 1st. And my question to all of you that I'd like you to think about
Speaker D: is
Speaker C: I remember years ago when every news station used to always say how much rain we had for this season. And then all of a sudden they stopped, stopped giving us that number. And what does that coordinate with? It coordinated with them telling us we were in a drought and they didn't want us to know that we were in a drought is my belief due to my rain numbers that I always looked at. And so I just want everybody to think about how it used to be lied about about the rain to do. An untrue position as far as our rainfall. And I just think it's fascinating. To this day, no newscast gives rain accumulation numbers and I think it's horrible. Back to you.
Speaker A: Yeah. You remind me of another thing that the news stations are doing now that they didn't used to do. It's been a long time since I watched network news. It's. I've been on cable or YouTube or things like that. But what they're doing now is they're giving you a vote. We've got three stories we'd like to
Speaker D: have you listen to.
Speaker A: Give us your vote on which one you want to hear. Since when do you vote on the news? Just tell us what they are with that. Is there anybody else who has any comments for the Talkback section?
Speaker C: KC6UIS.
Speaker A: Go ahead, Bob.
Speaker C: Yeah, that's very, very interesting about the vote thing. And I haven't watched network news for so long I didn't even know that was happening. And my answer to that is all they want is your email address. And I'm sure if you go.
Speaker A: You had to give him that. Well, that could be. I don't know. I never got involved in it.
Speaker D: To me, I just.
Speaker A: The first time I saw it, I was just. That's ridiculous. Just tell us the news. Anybody else with comments?
Speaker B: Okay.
Speaker A: Are there any last comments or suggestions before we close the net? Last call for any late members or guests wishing to check in before this net closes. Please come now. Hearing none, this concludes the GAR's Monday Night Net Net control. Thanks everyone who checked in tonight and invites you all back next week. This is AK6JN returning the W6GRC repeater to normal service. The GAR's Monday night net is now closed at 2019 hours. 73 to all. This is AK6JN signing Claire.
