Do we have any guest check ins tonight for the gar's Monday night? Net net control is kf6ob. Okay, that's great so far. So let's start a little bit of roundtable here. I guess Bill has something he'd like to say and then I have a statement what I'm working on lately. So Bill, how's everything going for you and what do you have for us at kce6ufe?
Speaker C: Kce6ufe? Good evening to the group and first of all, I'm going to attempt Winter Field Day from the home QTH this year again. So nothing new there. And today the HF bands got hit by a coronal Mass ejection from the X class flare of a day or so ago that was pointed right at us and pretty much shut the bands down. Muted everything pretty good. And the one big thing that I noticed, other than the fact there was a lot less traffic, was that you could really hear the warble and chatter on the signals coming over the poles. That was sounded like, I described it as somebody trying to grind rocks in their blender. So it was interesting. But it's starting to fade out and quiet down right about now and should go away by tomorrow. So back to net. KC6UFE.
Speaker A: Thank you Bill for reporting your observations on the HF bands today. Hopefully yes, that things will come back to normal, well, fairly normal. So I really appreciate that. Are there any others that have anything that they'd like to impart upon us tonight? Please come now.
Speaker B: KC6UIS Bill Electric, thank you for that report. I wasn't aware that that happened. I wasn't on the air to experience the problem. But it's nice to know about what was going on. So thank you again. KC6UIS baconet.
Speaker A: Thank you Bob. So latest goings on here at the QTH is I've been working on the off center fit dipole rebuild. I've got one more mass to put up and then I strung out today the in fit half width wave antenna element that I destroyed here a couple of years ago, maybe it was back last April and I rebuilt that, repaired it, stretched it out. I also stretched out alongside it or just underneath it a brand new element and there's quite a length difference between the two. So supposedly it's the replacement element for the one I destroyed. The new one is much shorter so I've got a lot of testing to do. Anyway, that's what's going on here. So we have anybody that has any comments or suggestions before we close the net, please come now. AK6JN. Yes Joe.
Speaker B: Yeah, I just wanted to mention that I put together a new radial system for a JPT.
Speaker A: Excuse me.
Speaker B: JPC 12 vertical. The radios that came with it were kind of flimsy. I got some 18 gauge tin copper stranded tin copper wire, vinyl coating, 20 foot long lengths. 12 of them put it on the pole or the JPC 12 and managed to make some contacts in Southern California, Arizona, Nevada and Texas. So not bad for just a little vertical antenna.
Speaker A: That's really awesome Joe. That's great. So is this a portable antenna that you might bring to Winter Field Day? That's affirmative.
Speaker B: That's what I was testing it for. Now Unfortunately, I don't know if you remember or not, but I will be doing Winterfield Day with the BART Club
Speaker A: this year, so I'll be going down to Woodland. Fine business, Joe. Fine business. Well, you enjoy yourself down there this coming weekend and give us a report back on the 26th.
Speaker B: I was actually wondering if maybe I'll run across some of you guys, make
Speaker A: contact with you while I'm out there.
Speaker B: Keep an ear out.
Speaker A: Well, we will certainly be listening and I know you'll be listening for us. Okay. Last call for any late members or guests wishing to check into the GAR's Monday night net. Please come now. Kilo six golf alpha bravo. Kilo six golf alpha bravo.
Speaker C: Hey, good evening. This is Greg and Chico looking for a late check in. No traffic for the nap this evening. Just wanted to jump in and say hello.
Speaker A: Thank you, Greg, for checking in this evening. And you are Q5 to the repeater. Any other late members or guests, please come now. Hearing none, this concludes the gar's Monday night net.
