Should be pretty nice nowadays. Yeah, we're going to spend a couple days up there and enjoy this weather and get out of the valley. So we're just approaching Yuba City now. Okay, well, I'm right in between Sutter and Yuba City myself. I'm heading to Yuba City. Well, you're hitting the repeater real well. You're very loud here.
Yeah, I should be. I'm probably about, I don't know, five miles away from this act. I thought the repeater was up on one of the mountains around here somewhere. Is it down here in the valley? Oh, the name here is Mike, by the way. Same as mine, actually. It's up on top of the highest peak on the butte. On the butte? Over towards which direction? Over towards Chico? No, the buttes. It's. It's actually west of Yuba City, right underneath the town of Sutter.
Oh, okay. I've got you. I understand about where it's at now. I know it's a good repeater. I get it. We'll go up Highway 32 through the Deer Creek, and it'll. It'll pick and fence through there, but there's a lot of spots where I'll get it. So it's pretty. Pretty good position. Yep. You're heading, I want to say, northbound on 99. We were. We just got off on the 70. Okay. If you look to your left, you should be able to see the views. Okay. So that's those mountains over there in the middle where the volcano was 10,000 years or so ago. Yeah. It's actually the smallest mountain range I believe, in the world. I believe.
Yeah. You know, those were always kind of interesting, depending on which freeway we were on. I always looked at them driving up here, and then one year I flew over them and looked down and thought, yeah, it's got to be a volcano. I did some research on it. Yeah, that's what it was, an ancient volcano. But I've never actually been to them. But apparently there's some interesting stuff there. Old missile silos and all kinds of things in that area. Yep. The silo, I believe, is turned into a radio room up there on top. That's where the towers are. Oh, is that right? They're there where the actual old missile silo was, huh? Yep. And then to the right of you, the overlays will be BL Air Force Base.
Yeah, that would be interesting to go and do a tour of one of those old missile silos. Yeah, it would be that one. It's locked and no one gets to go up there unless you have clearance. Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. I know there was some in New Mexico when I lived out there years ago that were abandoned and they were open. At least one of them had flooded and the scuba divers would go there and dive it. I never got the opportunity to do it, but I saw a lot of photographs they took. It was pretty interesting. Yeah, I've seen a bunch of those silos and stuff on documentaries. They're pretty awesome. Yeah. I think somewhere back in the Dakotas or Kansas, somewhere in there they're starting to convert.

Obviously, you know, to Japan and to support Indonesia. I saw a station from the Pitcairn Islands just came up, and it's been up this last week or so. Oh, that'd be a nice one to get, wouldn't it? Yeah, I can see the guys on the east coast are just piling up on them, which is understandable. I don't imagine there's too much traffic from Pitcairn island, so I'm not really surprised. Yeah, I had to look that one up. It was something like kind of out in the middle of the Pacific, but more like towards South America, I think. It sounds like one of those old sailing days. Islands that the British used to land on, maybe. I don't know. I'm gonna look up some more on it. Okay. Well, here's. Here's a little something. Maybe. Maybe you didn't know.
The. I'm not sure what. How much you know about the. The Mutiny on the Bounty. That's where the. The mutineers landed. Finally, they. They found out that Fitzhairn was not where it said it was on the map. So they figured out that would be a good place to hide from the British authorities. They wouldn't be able to come and find them and charge them as mutineers. So they. They landed there and then they burnt the boat because they had no way back to England. And apparently when they put Bly into the ship's boat and set them adrift, I think there were two of them. Fly actually navigated them, like, 3,000 miles to Australia. Yeah, I'm in the map here. It looks like it's closer. If this is correct. I'm just looking at it on the Great tracker. Looks like it's closer to South America than it is to Australia. Okay, that's interesting. Of course, I don't know where Tahiti is. Tahiti might be closer to South America. I don't know. But, yeah, those are fun contacts to get when you get something that's kind of obscure like that. You know, just everything over in that area, they have a contest for that. So that's a good time to get some of those. Some of those small little islands out there. Yeah, okay. That's good to know. I wanted to do Calcuso. I contacted Joe about it, but then I. Something came up and I had to cancel. Well, there's always next year. And, yeah, I worked it with him. So I don't remember whether it was Sunday morning or Saturday morning. I got there early, before the start of the Calcutto parking. So we did Oceania for about six or seven hours. And so we got some nice contacts from down there. Yeah, it sounds really good. You had to wake up kind of. I tried it really early this morning for Europe, but it didn't really. It doesn't really open up, or didn't really open up this morning until about when? It's about 8 o' clock in the morning. Somewhere in there. It worked. France and England and trying to think of the other. Maybe Wales.
