No, I was heading back from the meeting. That wasn't tonight. Wow. Wow. You didn't get the news, huh? I guess not. Says on the website everything. It still says club meeting tonight. Oh, my. Oh, my. Guess that'll have to be some feedback to somebody. Yeah, maybe.

Well, I know. It was a wasted trip, wasn't it? You didn't. You didn't redeem it by getting something else done, did you? Nope. Nothing else to do except drive back home. Well, that's too bad. I hate when that happened. So, let's see. But. But tonight is the. They had to delay. It's the board meeting tonight since they had to delay it because of the election two weeks ago. Yeah, I saw on ham valley news. It was right. But not on the website. Guess what? To do a better job of that. Should have gone out in a. In an email to everybody, probably.

I don't know if it did or not. I didn't see it if it was. Well, I don't think it did. I'm not saying it should have. When something like that comes out, we should throw out at least one email and. Yeah, I guess I could have put that up on the Facebook page, too. Yep. Wow. Well, I. I hope I'm going out for choir practice. I hope when I get there it's very. It's being held tonight. Yeah, I hope so, too, a little, as you wasted your trip also.

That would have gotten me out of the house. I took yesterday and today as vacation because I had extra vacation to burn and basically didn't do a darn thing today. I got out once today to go pay my property tax bill, but other than that, I haven't been out of the house at all today. Sometimes that's a good thing. Yeah. Yeah. Got me feeling a little guilty, though, because there's lots of stuff for me to do and I just kind of vegged all day long. Yeah. Yeah. Sometimes. Sometimes, though, that's what you need to do. So, other news. I got Jerry Manfred one tower off the roof a couple weekends ago. Okay. Who's Jerry?

W E6A S M receiver. I thought you said you knew him before. He's the guy that used to be the parts manager at Wheeler forever. And he was a ham. Oh, well, no, I know. Can't say as I, I, I knew him. So you got a tower off the roof. You're gonna have to take some. Seen that one. A little more. Well, he had two crank up towers up on the back of his house or back of his property. Whatever. Well, the guy wires on one of them snapped and it folded over onto the roof. Oh, okay. All right. Well, that's no good. So you just helping him out, or did you end up with the tower yourself? Well, so he's no longer living at this house. His kids are prepping to sell the house.

And my wife knows them from, you know, growing up there around the area. So talked to them, and they said, yeah, come take them both down. So I've got a Still got to take the other one down. I needed my climbing gear that I didn't have with me for the second tower. Okay. All right. So score. You got something that you can put up on it? Well, the one that collapsed had a big beam with, you know, like sort of like the one that's on. They usually put up on the the tower that we bring to our meeting, sometimes one on the trailer. Okay. All right. Well, gee, what do you think you'll put that up in, like, the spring time, possibly? I'm thinking about actually.

2025-11-19 02:49:21 UTC 60.0s · WD6AXM TX (146.085 MHz)

Building one of them into like a trailer. Sort of like what the Red Cross already has, but not that big of a trailer. How tall a tower is it? That's. The one that's broken is a four section, but there's plenty of it that I can cut. And, you know, if I make that one into the temporary up and down one, and the bigger one's the three section. So I think it's like a 40 footer. The other one's probably a 50, 55 footer, but it's again, I'm gonna have to take some section out of it to get the straight part. Okay, that's cool. Hey, I've destinated, so I'm gonna grab my music and get myself inside. Have a great evening. Sorry you had to. That was a disappointment, having to come all the way here to just go back home. But.

In case anybody else did not announce it, we are having a the Gears PODA the last weekend of the month that's going to be on the 29th, couple of days after Thanksgiving. So all of you that need a break from your families can go out to the Clay Pits State Vehicle Recreation Area or Special Vehicle Recreation Area. That's. Let me see. I have the photo map up. That's PODA number US3420. It's just the other side of the airport in Oroville. It's not as not as green as the other locations we've been been using, but it's got a sun shade or rain shade, a couple of picnic tables and restrooms. So there you go.

I'd like to thank everybody who showed up because it was really kind of nice. We got a look at the state of the trailer, which is bit by bit coming together. It's all cleaned up now. A lot of structural work has been done on it to, to get it ready to, to occupy with radios and such like. Let me see what else. We had nominations for Gears board members and officers, and we have a nomination for each position, which is kind of great because I got to say, a lot of clubs are not in.

Contest sponsored by the Flying Pigs QRP Club. Flying Pigs International it is, and I'm one of the lucky ones who happens to be a member. Anyone who wants to join can join and be a member. So I was doing my best in that contest. And you try to work other Flying Pigs, but they're kind of few and far between. So if you can work someone else and talk them into telling you their power, you can count it as a contest contact. So hurt some poda guys and lo and behold, I heard KN6MGK calling some of them and I was trying to work POTAS and get their power and was hoping that.

MGK would call CQ or something and I could work him, but he didn't seem to do that. But he sounded real good. Excellent cw. He's clearly becoming an expert this weekend. There's not too much on the contest calendar, but one that I have my eye on is the Bulgarian DX contest. That might sound unlikely, but actually you can work people in the US and get points in that contest, so I have some hopes for that. That goes on Saturday. It's CWM Single Sideband if you want to look into it. There's also the Single Sideband North American Single Sideband Sprint going on stage Saturday evening. Might want to look at that. A little bit of a complicated exchange, but.

AC6UFE Bill ICAFE and good evening everybody. I enjoyed the meeting last night. Nice talk, good presentation, and had a little time to monitor the 440 repeater at night. And interestingly enough, most of the time or half the time or something around there, I get it hits my radio about almost 40 over 9. I'm using my 991 Alpha and so I got a great signal and but every now and then, for some reason or other, it drops way down, gets below S9 8 or 9 or something. I'm not sure why, but I have a feeling it's just environmental conditions, something with the air or something with the band conditions. But anyway, kind of interesting to see where.

Anyway, working on meshtastic. Meshtastic. There's been a few more interested people in Chico and supposedly there's a mesh set up around town. So I'm trying to get that figured out. I built a couple more of these nodes and working on that understand that they may be using a different protocol here. So I'm trying to get that tuned in and I've got a discone antenna up that I'm gonna probably attach one of them to tomorrow and see if I can gather some more nodes. That would be nice. If I could see a few more other people out there that would be great because right now all I can see is myself which I have three different nodes and well, if I get caught talking to myself too much my wife kind of shakes her head. So I gotta be real careful about that. That's really about it. Interesting that Larry heard.

Jk6vzd mobile. Good morning. Wp6axm receiver. Well, I guess you pissed them off. Didn't come back quick enough or something. Well, you know, Just. There just aren't always people out there. Good morning. Yeah. You know, Chris, if I lived in a trailer park, right now I'd be saying, just hearing you out here warms my heart.

2025-11-19 15:36:32 UTC 60.0s · WD6AXM TX (146.085 MHz)

Yeah, Trailer park. You know, I've been at least thinking about the fact that I might end up in the trailer park one of these days. Hey, double wide. Nothing wrong with that. You know, the part I don't like is the chemicals. The new, newly constructed trailers. And they're emitting a lot of different things that are not good for you, so. Yeah. Are they really all the manufactured materials that they use? Well, I guess if you're worried about, you know, pollution and ruining your body, the damages been done years ago with everything we eat and breathe and, you know.

2025-11-19 15:37:31 UTC 55.3s · WD6AXM TX (146.085 MHz)

Terrible. Yeah, well, you know, the. I'm getting up to almost 70, and I'm kind of, like thinking, you know, what could possibly happen to me that would. Yeah. I just. I take it with a grain of salt, like, I've made it to 70. I'm lucky to have gotten this far. Yeah. That's good. You realize that, you know, our outcome really is unknown, but you're not going to be able to get out of it. Oh, no.

2025-11-19 15:38:33 UTC 60.0s · WD6AXM TX (146.085 MHz)

Yeah, it's kind of. Well, not exactly sobering, I guess, but I guess I'm thinking about guessing. Okay. How many more years have you got left? It's not that many. I've just been doing that same thing with doctor's reports and people, you know, the results of scans and etc. I might make it to 85, but I know what old men talking about when they say everything hurts. Yeah. People ask me, you know, what do you think? And I generally say, well, barring an accident or something, I'm estimating.

2025-11-19 15:39:31 UTC 60.0s · WD6AXM TX (146.085 MHz)

Mating 80s or something like that. Interesting. I got to looking or thinking about, you know, all my ancestors, and it's amazing how many of them made it to right around 80, a little bit more. So I don't see why that shouldn't be the thing for me. Although I did lose my brother. He was 69. He had some help. Weird health thing going on. They never could pinpoint what it was. Yeah, well, with, you know, modern medical care, I might be able to keep you going. I always say one step at a time, you know, when you're thinking about the future. My mom, bless her soul, she was a Bible thumper, but she never.

2025-11-19 15:40:31 UTC 60.0s · WD6AXM TX (146.085 MHz)

She shoved it at you, you know, like you're a sinner and you better do this or that, blah, blah, blah. When she left the world at 100 years old, it was all very nice, very quiet. My sisters were there, you know, they said, she's fine, and she was gonna. Yeah, well, I guess for my wife's sake more than anything else, I hope that, you know, I'm just there one day and go on the neck and not have to get put into some care home somewhere and not understand who anybody is, you know, linger like that for years. Years. Like some people do. Hey, my brother who passed.

2025-11-19 15:41:31 UTC 60.0s · WD6AXM TX (146.085 MHz)

We would talk and he'd always say, I want to die quick. I don't want to lay around with tubes in my body for, you know, years. Years, stuff like that. Cause of death was unwitnessed fall from six foot ladder. And this is important. And nobody found him for four days. He was a vet. They took care of him. They buried him up there with the military funeral. Yeah, that's another thing I gotta figure out. I mean, I'm eligible for internment in a, you know, federal veteran cemetery, but I haven't made any arrangements for it and, you know, I guess it's just something that's like, well.

2025-11-19 15:42:31 UTC 60.0s · WD6AXM TX (146.085 MHz)

I just. I don't want to think about it because that spring just, you know, it's too much reality. Yeah. I don't want to go quick, you know, my brother, you know. Was that quick enough for you there? Okay. But I want to alleviate stress, you know, when I'm ready to leave the body. It's something we all go through, you know? What good is it gonna do to whimper and cry? Yeah. Not. Not. Hey, I'm destinated. I've had a couple of nice days off, so now back to work and.
