Kk6dzd, This is KK6VZD. Is anyone out there ready to take over as net control operator for tonight's. W6P and H? Chris? I think I could. I think I could do it if needed. Well, I'm just bringing my computer up right now. It'll take me a couple of minutes to get to the document. If you can get to them quicker than me, that would be appreciated.
Okay, well, let me. Let me go ahead and get started. And if you feel like you want to jump in, say the word and I'll let you take over. Otherwise, we'll see how it goes. I may be working from an old roster, but we'll see. Sound good? Thanks very much. My apologies to the to the net out here. Between Paul and myself, we'll get something going pretty soon. Until next week, this is KK6VZD Chris in Yuba City, thanking all of you who checked into tonight's net while signing clear and returning the repeater to normal amateur use. This net is now closed. Kk16.
Czd ko6bgy Paul, good evening. Good evening, Chris. Thanks for taking the net, but. So I got home this afternoon and checked the mail, and there was a check from work. We'll say, or they're saying it's a payroll correction. You'll never guess how. I mean, I don't know. This was, like, from, like, six months ago, but they shorted me quite a bit. A handy little, nice little surprise. I'm glad it wasn't one of the other things you could have gotten. Oh, yeah. Not to brag, but it was over. Christ, I can't believe I even missed that. I'm glad they did, but.
Over $800. Holy cow. So you'll be looking for a rig to go with your general license? That's the plan. I want to try to get. I know it's an ambitious goal, but I want to try to get the General by end of, say, January. I lucked into somehow getting it. I don't know if I use a different email to sign up for a ham radio prep, but I got the general the general class course on there for free. So I'm gonna take. Well, good use of that and get that going. So. Yeah, and I also will be looking, so I'll be taking recommendations as well. If you want to send some over via email, that'd be great. Great. I'm happy to give my opinion.
And I'm sure that there's many others out there would also give you their opinion freely about. All you got to know is kind of a price range. You know, what do you want to spend, or how much do you think you can spend? What your. What your limit would be on that. You know, there's. There's some nice used rigs out there, and there's some nice new rigs out there. And, you know, I started out with a Yaesu FT450D, which I still have. It's a beginner rig, but it's also a nice beginner rig, so I'm very happy with it. W E6A X and repeater. Yeah, very good. I'll. I'm not making any decisions anytime soon, so I'll take all recommendations.
Possible. It's funny the guy that got a good friend of mine up in the Redding that got me into amateur radio he gave me a UV82. So it was a dual band or. Yeah, it was a dual band radio but it also has the dual TT which these UV5R Minis have now which is what I'm using now. But I passed that radio on to somebody else who got their ticket but they moved out of the area so they're. But they're still active somewhere I hope. But anyway all I won't keep you any longer. I'll reach out via email or whatever and we'll figure this out. Anyway, I'll say 73K6BGY. I'll declare in final heard 73. All right well you know now is the time you can start. You can start looking anyway. You can start looking and taking notes and things like that and then, you know, maybe by the time you get your general license you'll have your mind made up.
Okay. Well, then we'll look forward to talking to you soon. Have a great evening. 73 KK6VZD clearance I like to think soft and tender. It kind of triggered my brain on preparation for licenses and stuff like that. And to be perfectly honest, I have no idea what I used two or three years ago, but it was free. It was really good. It was the exam stuff. Maybe someone else will have a better option idea on that. But it was great. I mean, it was. That was really a big part of my success. So sorry I can't be more specific, but.
That's in a note somewhere I'll never find. Well, actually, I'm sitting here looking at. I bought this HT antenna a few months back called a signal stick. And I'm looking at the website they're made by. The signal sticks are made by people, these people that run this website called Signal stuff. And it's associated with a Study system called hamstudy hamstudy.org and I think it's free. So maybe that was it. Well, you know, it's kind of like all roads lead to Rome, but I just remember mine being really nice because it was just rerun the test I was doing the Curtis system, where you run.
Test over and over to get 100%. So that was a huge part of that. Yeah. And then I think there's a K O. K O. I forget what is Dave Casper, one of his two call sign is a zero OG. I think he's out on YouTube and he's got some study. He's got some classes that's free that you take online through watching his YouTube videos. And I think his are pretty well, very extensive and well used by people. So. All right, I'm going to drop off and go.
Get something to eat, so I will talk to you later. Have a great evening. KK60ZZD clear. Thanks for the refresher. If you do one thing and you don't have to confirm now, but you can email me the most recent materials for the Monday night net so that I have squirreled away somewhere. Mine are so old I didn't even bother to try. Okay, Since I have them sitting here right in front of me, I'll just do that right now. Okay? 73 KK6BZD.

W6e g h repeater connected k6s e j w6 ghost. You are doing a pretty good job getting into that computer, that repeater. There's a little bit of noise, but not too bad at all. Oh wow. What fun to know I can link to down into Southern California though. Had no idea.
It had link on it, so it's very handy. My name is Mark and out here on Lake Almanor, about 400 yards off the shore in a cabin we're full time in. And you told me how to go wide on my expedition. So we've talked with your with your wife on 40 meters a couple of times. But great to talk to you told that you're able to hit a repeater. Sounds about right. I have a habit of doing that. I'm sorry, didn't hit your call sign. Can I get it one more time?
Delta golf hotel. David. Good deal, David. And you never know who I'm. Al's not really good about identifying who we have on these group texts. So very fun. Let Al know that we have a system here that we link. Want to play? 440. We have have a message very cool. System. And nobody uses it. Very few people use it. I don't hear very much traffic behind here at all. But it's got a lot of links all up and down the state. And we saw can take a repeater local which happen to be talking to somebody locally. You don't want to tie up the whole system or you can review the system.
Pretty cool. Steve, are we only linked into the Los Angeles repeater, California repeater that you're listening on, or at this point, nationwide. Down to the border with Mexico? So we're statewide. When you go local, you go what? All that means is the repeater you're going into, like in this case, Quincy. If you use the other Pl. You can't. You would hit that repeater, but it won't link to the rest of the system. So if you're talking to somebody else who's in your area, you two can talk on the Quincy repeater without high enough to network for the rest of the. That's a local.
Well, it took me a minute to get things figured out and I'm on an ICOM 7061 PG actually running on solar power and I have the dual band vertical that is up about 30ft near their opening Concentrate cabin. That's pretty cool. Hey, I'm going to step away and go have lunch because I'm great to talk to you here and I look forward to talking to you again either here or on 40 meters. And by the way, I pulled our ones and I think you might have mentioned to you, you guys are pretty easy to find on 40 meters. If you have a waterfall of all the wide signals, it's pretty cool.
And that is helped out. But the audio. You're welcome to join in anytime. I'm quartered. We're on the nightly and activation of the wide. Thanks for the execution here, for the system here. And pretty handy to know that this thing. Run into an emergency up here. Like Stephanie dreams. Have a great day on the shore. Lake Kalanor, Northern California.

And 6wip and 6mtm. All right, I woke you up. So does that switch got to be on in Applin for it to charge when it's plugged into 110. Applin, light the push pull switch underneath to turn the trailer on to run on batteries. Does it have to be on if it's plugged in to charge the batteries?
I know you guys wrote it on a piece of paper, which is still in there, but I wrote it above on the plastic thing that lines the drawer up. That's inside. Yeah. That way I don't have to worry about losing the. Losing the paper anyway. Yeah, I left it on, and I only got 8 volts on the. On the testing the battery, so that wasn't good. I. I didn't. I thought we turned off everything inside there, but who knows? We'll see how it charges up. It's plugged in now, though. All right, very good. Back to the ice chest. I got the motor bolted in. Now I'm getting ready to cut the hole in the top seat and go back to sleep. Sorry for waking you up.
Not on those batteries. No. I thought they were lead acid from the look at them, but it's the charger inside the unit, inside the the RV there charges them.
Guess I'll have to go look. Yeah, I didn't see anything else that I was supposed to plug in, so who knows? And there won't be the first AGMs that I ruined. Yeah, I'm going to stop buying them just for that reason. You get a little short in your car and whatever you got them in, and I've had them in several cars and they never charge up as good as they they were or if they charge up at all. And I got at least six maintainers around here. I just assumed that the one inside the camper, or rv, whatever you want to call it, charge kept the batteries charged.
All right. Well, I'll look around in there to see if I can find that plug. Yeah, I'll just leave it plugged in for now and see what happens with them batteries. Yeah, that'll be too bad. I won't buy any more for it. I probably got a couple of them cap batteries I could throw in there if they fit. And if they don't, I'll wait till just before we leave so there's no chance of screwing it up again.
Check. I'll look for that plug or that little box. Yeah, it's over on the battery side. Huh? Okie doke. I got it. Thanks. And 6 ntm.
