Speaker A: Good evening. Mark6g uk.
Speaker B: Hey Clarence. How's everything going over there?
Speaker A: Just try to keep my powder dry.
Speaker B: Yeah, well, you know, you're just messing with the flintlocks. You gotta have powder dry. Well, the weather's. We had some sunshine here, so it was kind of nice. I got a few things done outside. What have you been up to?
Speaker A: Maybe get more rain tonight, tomorrow, maybe next week. Get a little bit of a break.
Speaker B: I don't know.
Speaker A: Unsettled weather. Weather guts or take
Speaker B: any way. Any way.
Speaker A: So how close it you're doing all right. How's the water? You have other standing water? I would imagine you're kind of flat during here.
Speaker B: Well, I'm happy it's not. So your signals not real clear, kind of weak and there's some scratching in there.
Speaker A: So
Speaker B: I don't know if you got water in your feed line, But you did ask how I was. I seem to be doing fine. I just plugging away. You know how that goes. But what where you at and what intake are you using over.
Speaker A: Well, yeah, I know. I think I took water on at the feed point of the antenna here on the rv. I'm in the driveway here in the RV and it's the dual vent antenna mounted on an L bracket just by the roof level. But I think it got water in there. I thought I had it sealed up, so I kind of replaced that. I've got another in an NMO mount, you know the motor roller mount. It's all field. I can't find it. I'm just gonna order another one. I got one separate. I'm just gonna order another one. Yeah, I know. I'm aware of putting out much of the signals.
Speaker B: So anyway. Well, let me know if you want help to try and diagnose that. Bring some stuff up there. But anyway. Yeah, you're.
Speaker A: So
Speaker B: we can, you know, maybe pick something up. It's just not as strong as it could be. I know I've heard you way stronger in the past, but have you checked it recently with the. With the meter there, see what's going on? Yeah, you got scratching on top of it. Weak signal and a scratch. So what end. What radio are you using?
Speaker A: There's an old radio project. Here is a Midwood GM 7 31, a 2 meter 4.8. I got a full power 5 watts, but it's not put down. I could probably go over. The handheld would do better.
Speaker B: Well, possible. Have you heard anybody on 446? Anybody there anymore?
Speaker A: As far as I know, but I'm only there? Two or three minutes.
Speaker B: Yeah. I think that the more heat you get into the feed line, the worse it gets, but. Yeah. So it sounds like you're cooking eggs, Let me know. Clarence, if you need help up there,
Speaker A: I can come up and we can
Speaker B: solder up some feed line and get you on a good antenna. Oh, appreciate.
Speaker A: No, I. I got it under control. I know what to do, and I got the stuff. No big deal. I just don't use it that much. So I guess I could grab. Grab a HT and program it up to see what that would do.
Speaker B: All right, well, grab an HT and we'll do a quick. And I heard that. Happy New Year. And we can do a quick test with the HT and just kind of diagnose this, because I know you should be way stronger than what you are and a lot clearer over.
Speaker A: Give me a. Give me a second. I'll probably try to program an hd.
Speaker B: Okay, well, that. I'll tell you what. Whatever you did, it's way better than what it was, so I don't know if you change radios or what. Perfectly clear. No scratch.

Speaker A: Well, you're in there, but
Speaker B: it just could be a little bit more. I don't know. I wouldn't think the. I would think that the site should be working rather well. And of course, the radio that I have is. It doesn't have as meter on it, so I can give you a report on there, but a little bit weak. Over. Yeah, let's see.
Speaker C: I
Speaker B: don't
Speaker C: know if I low power
Speaker A: or
Speaker C: high power HC was in a junk box. It's an old Fu Fung or Fufengi or I don't know, some kind of Chinese junk. Anyway,
Speaker B: yeah,
Speaker C: so I don't know. Anyway, I'm outside. I'm not gonna stay out here. It's not raining, but it's cloudy and windy and figure out something for I don't want to have for dessert. I'll
Speaker A: figure
Speaker C: that out.
Speaker B: All right, very good. Yeah, it's a little bit of a phase shift. Not really a multi path. It's more of a up and down where it's just kind of. I can definitely tell you on a hand belt. All right, Clarence, well, keep me posted. Keep plugging away on that. Like I said, you don't put an anson up as you.
Speaker C: Well, there won't be anything in the RV if it's like it is. I'll have to just revamp it, is all so.
Speaker B: All right, well, listen, have a good evening and
Speaker C: all that. Good hearing you. You sound good. You sound good. So I guess that that's got to be a plus. So. Seven three, mark. Take care. 60. Okay.
Speaker B: All right. Very good, Clarence. Yeah, well, good hearing you. We got a pot of beans going. Well, the insta pots cooked me a pot of beans and, you know, left some beans for bean tortillas or something. I don't know. Always good. Keep my belly full. Catch you a little later. Step 3 ke 6 js.

Speaker A: This is W7X Ray Zulu and thank you for your patience. In addition to the previous aforementioned, I have W6PNH. And good evening to you Paul and. K6kilo delta sierra. Good evening carla and kd7y uhf. Good evening ron, do we have any additional check ins to the net? This is w7x ray zillow. Charlie. Oh, there's the ship made in there. Kc6flb. Good evening, lanson. Got you checked in. Any other additional check ins to the NASA w7x ray zulu? Nothing heard. I'll shift to the roundtable mode here and give me a chance to clean up my log entries a little bit. In the meantime, N6TD. Jeffrey, you're leading off tonight and you'll be passing it to K6HFP. John, you'll be passing it to KO6BGY. Paul from the U, it'll go to Kilo, Bravo 9, Mike, Yankee Foxtrot and Jeff from you it'll go to W6PMH. Paul from you to your significant other there and K6KDS. Carla from you to KD7UHF and Ron, you'll be passing it to Lamps, KC6FLB. Hopefully nobody's got any questions questions about that N6TDG. Jeffrey, it's your nickel. W7X Ray Zulu and the net.
Speaker B: Hello Jim.
Speaker C: N6TDG. Well, I've been spending the last several days with trying to program my little Raspberry PI and marry it with an old Kenwood D700. I'm creating a a Digipeter and Igate and then after that a whole nother setup for Packet and the WSJTX symphony of software. Anyway, without the help of Groak, I don't think I could do any of this because it can be extremely frustrating. I guess I'm sending out packets now but they're not showing up yet on aprs fi. Anyway, I'll pass it over to John, the K6 AFP. This is November 6th, Tango Delta Golf,
Speaker A: we6A X N repeater in the 6
Speaker D: TDG and the net. This is K6HFP. John up in Orville. Thanks, Jeff. Well, good to see everybody that showed up on Zoom. It was a decent session tonight. Time flies on that. On that Zoom all the time, so. Went by pretty quick. Hope everybody had a nice new year. Obviously it was nasty weather for fireworks and stuff, so we didn't really see too many.
Speaker E: Definitely hurt some, but
Speaker D: with the wet weather and stuff it was kind of a perfect time for people to shoot them off, I guess. But not too Many people did
Speaker C: even
Speaker D: though it's not supposed to be done. I know but people always do it anyways not much on radio this this week I was gonna say it'd be. It'd be cool to start testing out that digipeter that you're setting up there Jeff that'll be kind of cool to play with. Try to get my radio programmed and stuff for it. I don't do too much digital work but that'll be. That'll be cool to mess with
Speaker E: Other
Speaker A: than that
Speaker D: I guess that's all I got for now. Whoever's needing to upgrade get your study and then gonna be having a test session coming up in March for the ORES group so that'll be cool Details to follow I'm sure and I guess that's all I got. Hope everybody's having a good night and a good week coming up here and I'll pass it over to Paul K06BGY and the net K6 8HFP.
Speaker E: K6hfp ham ko6bgy thanks John.
Speaker D: I had not.
Speaker E: I have not done much I did talk to Pete M Man I can't
Speaker D: even do this right now Pete N6IWH
Speaker E: out there in Chico Yesterday on my travel to Yuba City from Calusa it was not much rain but the wind was something awful and then anytime a semi drove by I'm driving a little
Speaker D: tiny Mitsubishi Eclipse 4 door
Speaker A: 2 door
Speaker E: coupe with the fastback or hatback, whatever you want to call it getting tossed
Speaker D: around a little bit.
Speaker E: It hugs the road but it's enough to keep you alert with two hands on the wheel but other than that not much else going on here. Slowly setting for the general upgrade and with that I will. I forgot who I was passing it to I didn't write that down Anyway I'll pass it on to the next guy or gal k06bty Happy New Year to all.
Speaker A: Go ahead Jeff.
Speaker F: Yeah, not a whole lot going on here in Orleans just. Just hanging out. Not much the rain and the bad weather but when it clears up I'm
Speaker A: going to do some work.
Speaker F: My 10 meter antenna turned out once I got it up at the new spot the SWRs were off and it's a little bit too short so I gotta take it down and lengthen it probably about 6 inches and put it back up and try that but this is a not up very high so that's easy to do but nothing else
Speaker E: going on
Speaker F: he be 9 my and also I forgot to write down who it goes to next
Speaker E: well I'LL take it from here. W6T and H I think I was next and haven't been on the radio
Speaker A: a whole lot but
Speaker E: I guess it was last month now but I built a little handheld 2 meter yagi with the idea of fox hunting with it and so far I did one fox hunt here with Devin and the Yuba City group leading and it worked out well and we did have a test session on Saturday here and one one guy from Faro come and test with us and he got his technician and I'm looking forward to joining you guys in March for a session so that all sounds good. I'll pass it over to Carla. K6KDS.
Speaker G: Yes this is K6KBS so I've been off for the last couple weeks I'm a teacher so I had a little vacation time and I've been working some FD8 and finally getting to do some work on 80 meters so that was kind of fun to get to add that. And yeah I'm also looking forward to coming up for the your testing session. Paul and I will be there to help out with that and so we're excited about that and I think that's about it so I'm going to go ahead and pass it on to the Ron KD 7.
Speaker B: Well thank you this, this is Ron KD7UHF here in Oroville and haven't been doing much on the radio. I got in an accident here at home. I got kind of banged up so I'm walking around with a with a cane and recovering very nicely so with that I haven't got much else so I'll pass it on over to Lance KC6FLB.
Speaker D: Thank you ron. Down Got a few contacts stops in Sydney, Australia and Brazil, Missouri and Albany, Illinois and made one JA call that was a contact that was really good. These days you really have to be really patient to wait for an opening especially when you got a strong signal. Either a pile up on that one station or these guys are putting out a really good key zone but other
Speaker E: than that it looks like forward to
Speaker D: the upcoming testing session Hopefully I'll be ready for it and definitely got to get that repeater up. I'm looking forward to getting the gang together see if I can get enough guys together to get that all taken care of. So with that I'll just go ahead and give it back to net control
Speaker A: KT6FLD, KC6FLB and the net W7X Ray Zulu. Okay Lance, very good and and for W6PNH. Paul, thanks in advance there I'll do what I can to promulgate the word about it for March for the for March and call for it to come together about 6pm or so and I'm hoping I can get transportation down there to the venue and all that for that meeting. In the meantime I'll see if I can get the word out to prospective licensees and those particularly interested in upgrading as well. And Joe N9BD also made mention of passing along to Gears and Gars and the Paradise Club that a VE session will be available that particular day. Anyway, we'll work at it from that standpoint. Anyway, are there any additional check ins to the Net the Space W7X Ray Zulu.
Speaker E: 76pnh with a comment?
Speaker A: Go ahead Paul.
Speaker E: Yeah, well with the idea of spreading the word in mind I will I'll post that test session on hamsteady.org and with the ARRL. So if anybody is searching for an in person session in that area, maybe they'll find us that way too. So I'll get a message to you confirming when that's in place and if it helps you can refer people to that info as well. So yeah, I'm looking forward to hopefully getting a good turnout. That'd be a lot of fun.
Speaker A: Back to you. Okay Paul, and thank you for that and yeah I'd like to. I'd like to see this particular session as far as participation make it worth worth your while there.
Speaker E: Anyway,
Speaker A: I'll ramble a bit you while I've got it. Not too much going on here. I did get on FT8 yesterday for a little while there on 40 meters in the morning and made a couple contacts so I could say oh yeah now I've got a couple contacts for 2026 and one of them was the J8. So anyway the antenna was working and between the howling winds off and on in the rain we 6axm receiver now between the howling winds and the rain and all that I'm reminded of the old saying if your antenna stayed up last winter it wasn't big enough. Happy to report that the antenna is still not big enough and hopefully it'll stay that way for a while and aside from that not too much else going on here. Do we have any additional check ins to the nap this W7X rays. Nothing hurt at all. Run it back up the line. Does any other station have any additional comments for the Navy 7X Ray Zulu? Well nothing heard. Sounds like maybe we got it done tonight. Here I'll make this the last call for any late check ins or any unfinished business before closing the 2 meter portion of the net and giving 10 meters a try. For those who can this W7X Ray Zulu. Nothing hurt. Sounds like we got it done. Thanks to all who checked in tonight and thanks to Dave WD6AXM for the use of his fine machine on south butte. This is W7X Ray Zulu signing the 2 meter portion of the Oroville Amateur Radio Society Sunday night Net clear and going QSY to 28.450 MHz upper sideband. Good evening to all and Happy New Year. Thank you, Jim.

Speaker A: Kn6gtn. Kn6gtn.wa7r&r. Good morning or afternoon?
Speaker B: Well, yeah, good afternoon to you as well. Dave. How are you?
Speaker A: Oh, I'm doing all right. I was sitting in front of the computer printing out the paperwork and had to look over the radio and make sure, you know, I wasn't on the wrong radio and make sure I heard what I thought I heard. Heard the correct call sign. So. Okay. Yeah, we're all good. And then I had to remember my own call sign. It's been that long? Oh, yeah.
Speaker B: Yep. I'm just having to head up to Chico to pick up some parts. So when it's raining, I'll tell you, it's still kind of a miserable day out there.
Speaker A: Yeah. I opened the front door, and the dog seen the rain. She said, nope, I don't want to go outside. She changed her mind real quick. She's like, nope, not having none of it. I can hold it some more. I was like, yeah, it's kind of nasty out there. W E6A X N repeater
Speaker B: so you survived all the holidays, I guess.
Speaker A: Yeah, I survived them all. I'm still upright and still functioning, so that's good. Yep. Now settle down for a new year and see what happens.
Speaker B: Yeah, it started off with a bang, didn't it?
Speaker A: Yeah, it kind of did, actually. Yeah, no doubt. So over here, speaking of bangs. Yeah. Closer to the casino, they light off fireworks and things like that on the New Year's and stuff. The dog was not liking that.
Speaker B: Yeah, I don't think I heard quite as much of that this year. I don't know what the deal was. Some years, I think it's a little more. More distinct. Of course, over by the casino would be a. That's a little different story. But, yeah, out in the country, I didn't hear as much going on this year as usual.
Speaker A: Yeah. In that area, it's usually not too noisy. But over by the casino, it can. It can be at times this year, it was. I was getting flashes through my window, crazy, like, wow. And the dog did not like that because my. My room's real dark, and so any flashing noise, shaking the house, she. She don't like that. Like lightning and thunder, she goes nuts.
Speaker B: Yeah. Very good. You got a lot on the agenda for today.
Speaker A: Not in this weather, I don't, but I will go. I'll be going to Chico myself. Gonna replace the. Well, order a new washing machine. It's under warranty. They decided to junk it out, so. Years old, but I bought the extended warranty on it when we bought it. So I got that finally resolved after a month. It works and then it don't work, and it works, and it don't work. You know, it just kicks a code whenever it feels like kicking the error code. So the technician came out the other day on Saturday, took a look at it and determined what it needed. And he already knew that if it come up that the option was to just junk it out, to junk it out. I didn't want to mess with it. So he had that option. He was cool. He was like, yep, he jumped it out for me. And that way I can just go. I get credited for the purchase price plus tax back and go pick out another one. Because they don't. They don't even make that model anymore. Two years old. It's crazy. But I'm covered, so it won't cost me. I basically eat the cost of the warranty. But I'll. That's about what I'll pay for another extended Warranty is another 140 bucks. So it's not too bad.
Speaker B: Yeah, that's not too bad. Kind of, kind of disappointing. It only lasts a couple years. Those, you know, back in the day, the old washers used to last, you know, a long time.
Speaker A: Yeah, they still, they're still working today, those old ones. Yeah. Just gotta watch your, watch your fingers though, you know. But yeah, they. Even the newer, older ones still going. They just don't make stuff like they used to. It's all built to, you know, last so many years. And then it's built to last. Usually it's warranty time and then kick the bucket. You know, they got generating revenue. They got to keep you buying products. They can't build them to last forever. That, that's not, that, that's not. That's not how they operate nowadays.
Speaker B: Yeah. And that mindset is across a lot of different stuff, not just washers.
Speaker A: Roger that. Yes. It's even in on our. It's even in. It's in everything. Our vehicles. You know, now you buy a, you know, you buy a vehicle for 50 grand and, you know, it's like subscription based. They want to charge you fees for features. It's like, I bought the car. I didn't buy a rolling subscription. But that's how they treat them, and that's what they do. It's. It's just crazy. It's like, no, I'm not paying no subscription fee. You know, I'll just use my remote in my hand to unlock the door. I don't care about using my phone to unlock the door or lock the doors. You know, I'm not paying no subscription fee for those types of things. You know, just not. Not doing it.
Speaker B: They find out you're from the wrong generation.
Speaker A: Yeah, no doubt. I don't mind paying for certain things. Just. It just depends. But, you know, you're not gonna nickel and dime me after I buy a vehicle, too. And then, you know, it's like, they might as well charge you a fee every time you start your vehicle. I mean, come on. It's just ridiculous. Well, that's what they're trying to do. Eventually they're gonna get to that point. Every time you start and stop the car, there's a fee. Especially in California. Well, you know, all too well, dealing with all the stuff you got to deal with and the regulations and all the hoops you got to jump through. My goodness.
Speaker B: Yeah. And if you would hope it would get better. Roll back some of this regulation stuff. But I've never seen. I've never seen any. You know, maybe I better be careful what I say about common sense in this state, but you don't see much of that nowadays.
Speaker A: Yeah, roger that. Yeah, if it was common, everybody would have it, right? That's the old saying. Yeah. Their. Their mentality is, you know, more regulation, more regulations. Good. It's better. Yeah. Okay. Backwards. And some of the stuff they do, they come up with is just totally like, don't we have bigger friction fish to fry then to be worried about some stupid little, you know, law or whatever that they create over here. This, you know, for something that's totally not even relevant, really, to be honest. And then. But yet, you know, they got to come up with some sort of law and regulation for it. It's like, geez, kind of like if you're out. No, you know, if you're out riding your sides or motorcycles out there in the wildlife area, there's speed limits, believe it or not. If you're out there riding out in the dirt and open area. Why is there speed limits? I mean, just things like that. I see I can see certain areas, you know, that would, you know, call for a speed limit. But I mean, if you're way out, it's like having a speed limit out in the desert, you know, it's like, what the heck?
Speaker B: Well, I'm entering Chico here. It's raining pretty hard, and I'm having to keep my eyes on the traffic about. I got pretty close to this semi before I saw his light, so I better put the microphone down here. In a little bit. Good chatting with you, Dave. You have a good afternoon, 73s, and we'll catch up with you in a little bit. KN6GTN.
Speaker A: All right, sounds good. Yeah, I had to exercise this radio. I haven't used it in so long. It just stays on monitors most of the time, so. All right, sounds good. Be safe. Yeah, I'll be headed over there myself. So, anyhow, WA70R and RCLAR.

Your audio is a little bit low, but you're in there instead of pnd. Lastly, Thank you for the comeback. KC3DSP. I'm on a handheld in the parking garage. Okay, what repeater are you talking on? What frequency are you on? Okay, that's, that's our repeater on Red Mountain, which is above Boulder City. So that would make sense. You're good into it. You can probably see the repeater set somewhere. You're at it's way on the south part of the Valley. Okay. Yeah, take care. Enjoy, enjoy your time in vegas. N7 tmd. The fellow on the handy talky. Double check and make sure that you are on wideband. Sounds like you could be on narrow band. So make sure that your handy talking is on wide band. And hello to you there, Ralph. Hey, Kim. Good afternoon. Yeah, you. I had to. You almost blew my speaker out when you started talking, so. Yeah, I had to. Had to crank the audio way up to hear the other gentleman. Well, let's see, it's 3:45 my time, so you must be on your lunch break. Actually, I'm heading to a meeting. Oh yeah, that's right. You guys, like you don't get that much breaks and bounce around from meeting to meeting wearing your tie. All right, well, you have a safe, safe drive over to your next meeting. I'll be listening here. I'm still around with the other Carla hub. N6 Canadian. All right, tim. Yeah, good luck. M7 tnt. So the pittsburgh station at samtown, this is m7 khj. Do you copy? Other station on, on the Las Vegas network. What type of radio are you running? N6 GRG. N6 go radio. Go. Well, I assume I'm making it into Las Vegas. N6G. Archie. Okay, I don't know if you're calling for me. M17. Yeah, you got a lot of noise on you. Your audio is really, really thin. Very, very tinny. But you're making it through M17, dude. Okay, let me get a comparison from Ken. Ken, is my audio thin and tennis? It's better. It's better than it was on the other system. Okay, I did hear the station that I'm trying to reach come back. I didn't catch his call. But sir, can you come back again? Yeah, this is Rick. N7khj to the guy over at Sam's Town. Is that correct? Yes, Roger, Roger. N7HK. KHJ or K N6TRG. What type of radio are you running? I'm on a Motorola XTL 5000 which is a mobile 110 water. Yeah. So I'm originally from the Keystone State myself. Been out here about 50 years or so. So I don't know if you saw the football game last night, but. Hell of a game. And due to Baltimore's mistakes, the Steelers made it. Oh yeah, that always seems to happen. Well, if you're running a Motorola, then it might be a little bit tougher to change your audio quality and increase the audio. I don't, I don't think that it's that easy without actually being in a programmer. Comment. Radio has been in the truck five years. This is the first complaint I've ever had. Okay, well, maybe just the particular link you're on. Go ahead, Ken. I just wanted to clarify. There were some misunderstandings there, Mike. The GRG station is in Reading. He's not the, he's not the handy talkie at Samtown. Just there's a clarification. Okay, I'm gonna go back to listening. And this is Ken, M6K and E. Go ahead. Go ahead, Mike. And ready? Okay, yeah, great to hear you, Ken. And yeah, I was just trying to reach that station that you thought might be on narrow. If it's, if it's the Motorola station, then not gonna be that easy to do, just change anything. All right, well, I don't think I can do any more harm or good. So how's it going, Ken? Before I leave N60RG, It's still going. I'm just beside myself here with some of the sky one trying to get the alert script to work properly, but had been extremely unsuccessful. So I think I'm just going to shut it off and let skywarn just do it, do its thing, do what it's been doing, which has been. Okay, just can't get the dog on Sky Alert to work properly using the dtmf DTMF commands. Okay, well the other one was pretty decent before, so that wouldn't be the worst thing. By the way, this is our last day of. In fact, our flood warning is over at 4 o' clock our time and I could tell you what that is probably UTC if you wanted, but whether they'll reinstate it or not, I don't know. I see a huge storm down in the Chico area with heavy rain. So you know, they, they may be having some flooding issues down there, although a lot of it's past them, but it's mostly to the west of Chico and it was pretty heavy. Okay, Ken, really good to Talk to you in 6 GRT on link 36. All right? Yeah, I'm not showing any alerts now on the skywarn side of things. The only thing I'm seeing is small craft advisories for the Bay area. Yeah, that storm is kind of going over the Bay Area. Yeah. Right now. Okay, Well, if you look at radar, it's a heavy storm right over Chico right now and west of Chico. And we've had flood warnings, flood alert warnings for the last four days, so. Interesting. Alrighty, I'll let you work on it in 6trt. For my spot here. This is the first clear sky. Well, it's not a clear sky, but it's no rain. First time where we haven't had any rain in the last four days. Area of no rain. So I'm gonna go out and get a breath of fresh air. Let my doggie take a walk. N6GRG.

System21 link off. Pop. Ae 6ft. What's the weather like there in Stockton? It's a little hazy, a little cloudy, but nothing to complain about. Perfect driving weather. How about you? Where are you? At. Soda Springs, the epidonner summit of I80. Just on my way back to San Francisco from Lake Tahoe. And Nice, a couple clouds, quite a few clouds rolling in, but otherwise it's a nice, mostly cloudy little fun. All right, Paul? Yep. We're gonna, we're gonna eventually be up there. My friend and I are at the checkup. I know another few friends and we're all gonna make our way to San Francisco for a bit of a day trip. So San Francisco home for you? Been there for many years now. It's a great place to live in my opinion. I'm from la, so long way from home. I actually haven't been to San Francisco and anywhere you recommend today. What are you looking for? I love spending time in the Mission or Debo Triangle. Lower Haste. It's all a lot of fun. I listen to cast right now and that also has a lot going on. So good time. And yng. All right, we'll have to give those. Have to check those out also, by the way, sorry for not introducing myself. Name here is Josh. Call sign is November 16th. November Golf. Can I get your call again? Call is ae6b. Name is corey. Charlie, oscar, romeo, echo, yankees. Okay, good to see you. Cory. 86 speed, Mystic Yng. So what type of radio are you using right now? I'm driving my friend's car, so I don't have my mobile rig, so I'm just on an ht and sorry if my signal is a little choppy. Should get stronger further north we go. A Kenwood mobile Tango Mic Victor 71 Alpha. I really enjoy this transceiver, especially for mobile operations, but even at home. So it's about 5,0 watts into my vertical mag mount. Oh, nice. Very cool. I also got a 50 watt mobile in my car. Got a, a few different fans, mainly a VHS guy. So yeah, also put about 50 watts, but right now just doing 5 watts into a Motorola APX8000HT. Three. Fine. A little noise, but easily understood. And on this repeater in particular, system 14 seems like it has of a. A bit of a strange tone on every time it keys up, regardless of, you know, on top of the signal being transmitted. But there it goes. Oh yeah, yeah, I hear that television talking. But from what I heard when I was sharing the stance with a lot of military and radar users, wonder probably something that has to do with that, especially considering how far north you are. I know that activity gets stronger the further north you go. That's a possibility. And there's a station with an air. And I'm not sure if maybe they're one of the same, but I know that the CARLA website mentioned. I ran an organization that also had a 70 centimeter repeater in San Francisco. And so we had plenty of discussion about the pen pave laws as well. You know, within San Francisco you're generally okay, you know, isolated from Fairfield because of the ohf, but you know, gotta be careful not to be at the highest summit with too much power. That's unfortunate. So I think 2 meters is probably surprisingly popular for an urban area where you are at. I'd say Both are popular. 70 centimeters. We just limit typically to about 20 miles. You got a lot of power down at 70cm in LA and lots of high mountain tops and everything. So that's a privilege I certainly enjoy. Anyway, Sarah, great to meet you. Cory. Thanks for the chat. Glad to know we've got some communication with the outside world here out in the far northern regions of California that the Angelinos aren't used to. I do think care and have a safe trip back to San Francisco. Pleasure has been mine. I will get back to riding here. Have a great trip. This is N6Y and. Contacts. A great chat with you too. Hope it's an easy drive for you as well. 73ae6b. System 12 link up and 6 MVT and just to clarify, that tone you hear is actually coming from a fan getting into the. You couldn't see to get rid of it, but we needed it to stay on to keep things cooler. So that's what it is. The paved pause is usually popping noise like a popcorn maker or something like that. But you hear anyhow, have a good day and 6 MVT plus attendance.

Station monitoring, do you copy? N6iwh. Over. N6y h, kd6tw here. Yeah, kb6cwl, zf, tangle with kilema in berkeley. Where are you? I'm in Chico. Retired from the Bay Area. Fact, I used to live in Berkeley. 8:40 page down by 6. Berkeley flatland. No, well. Well, actually I'm over here by the Claremont Hotel. And it's just raining, raining, raining. How's the weather up in Chico? Raining, raining, raining, raining, raining. Darn, I thought it might not be raining somewhere in this. In this silly state of ours. Yeah. Hey, nice area up at the Claremont area. Claremont Hotel. Used to go there. I didn't pay for it, but, you know, people would come up and did it. Stay there, swim, eat the food. Yeah, it's a great place to be as far as being in the Bay Area. It's kind of crowded and expensive these days. But I'm not complaining too much other than about the weather. You know, before you complain about that, my old car was KV6ADP. I got my call at Cal Berkeley, the Watch 6 bouncing boomerang. You got your ticket around, what, 80, 82 later. I'm from Delta 6. I think it was in the late eight. Okay, roger, I got a copy. Do you have any good phonetics like. Hunting wild lima? At the time when I first got my call, there was a crazy going on here on 14529 with a guy named Blake. And he came up with nicknames for everybody. And I think he immediately decided that Django Wispy Lima equated to Totally Wimpy Loser. Hey, that is kind of funny, actually. I. I know Blake. Fascinating if he's still active in the ham community. No, he got out of it years back. In fact, I know the guy who took down his antennas was on Claremont Avenue. Recently passed away, I am. But yeah, Blake had a good signal into 5 2. Now, K7IJ. I mean, he would just kill anybody. Didn't matter. You could sit next to the machine with 30 watts in the car and he was still just walking on you. He was a force of nature. Very bright guy. And he kept it very exciting on 529. I guess a little too exciting for some folks, but I thought he was kind of a kick. Yeah, well, things were different back then for sure. The entertainment factor. I mean, a lot of people getting on fly from ham, imitating voices. I remember Mickey Mouse. I don't think I ever came across that ham. But there were a bunch. There was a community of crazy folks on 529, around. Well, did you ever go to Brennan's? I know Fingers was the fish place. Brennan's was a cross university. Christmas time, everybody would get together. No, I never went to the event. I kind of wanted to. I've been to. I have been to Brennan's a lot of times because I used to work down there as a shipping clerk when I was an undergraduate at uc and we went and had lunch at Brennan's, like, all the time. Turkey, la. Hey, this is not funny. I was just gonna say they have the best Thanksgiving dinner that you can get any time of the year. But turkey, dressing, gravy. Oh. Oh, please. That place is gone now. It's too bad. And then they had just fabulous Irish coffee. Oh, my God, I die for. You know, you're talking to somebody who's never really drank that much. Of course, I've had beer and, you know, wine. I know what it's. What it's about. I've been drunk a few times, but I never really had a taste for alcohol, you know, And I'm in my 70s and people say, oh, gee, you look 50. Well, I don't feel 50. You sound like you're a testament to clean living. I guess. Well, it was for health reasons, you know, yoga, philosophy. I did work out later. A lot of coursework at Cal State Hayward. Athletic training, etc. I was a vegetarian and used to run the track at Contra Costa College. Up and down the bleachers. Now I look back and go, why did I do that? Ah, yeah. So what is it you do up. How long have you been up in Chico and what do you do up there? Well, I stay as busy as possible. I'm trying to trained as an art educator and art acrylic on canvas. I also enjoy dioramas, model making and pop music. Hey, baby, I love you. I hope you love me. Get the idea? So I think so. So, what's your name? I'm Dan. Delta Alpha. November and KV6TWL. Maybe you can give me your name call again. Qualify. November, India Whiskey Hotel. They used to call me idiot with herpes. People somehow remembered that I preferred intelligent, witty ham. Oh, whoopee. Pete or Peter when it's written down. And you know, people tell me I'm a little bit famous for my artwork, but I'm not rich. I don't know if the two go together. You can be famous and not rich. Okay. Okay. Well, we were kind of talking. All right, well, it's great to make your acquaintance piece and fix. I think I'll use the. Not the idiot. Intelligent, witty and happy. Yeah, I called set an ancient. I could do something that has happy in it. See, I'm moving forward two years anyway. Yeah, well, if you're around, give us a shout. You know what? I wake up at night and I look at the HAM radio. I think, oh, hey, that'd be a perfect time. All the grandmas are asleep.

Speaker A: Kilo India 6 here, mic November. Just checking to see if this is the repeater we're using for tonight's Gars net. And if nobody happens to come back, I think I'll probably be able to tell through the repeater ID. This is K96 SMS.
Speaker B: I believe you're correct, Phil. AF608 here.
Speaker A: AF608. You keeping your powder dry?
Speaker C: Yeah, kinda got a little bit of a septic backup from all the water, but we're dealing with it.
Speaker A: The joys of country living most definitely. How are you doing? Good, Trying to get some. I've got a number of different things that I need to do. Year end reports for about five different entities. Trying to start to whittle into that and get that done and in the meantime keep myself awake while I'm doing it.
Speaker C: That's good. It's important to stay awake when you're doing meaningless paperwork, huh?
Speaker A: Yeah, copy that. How you guys been?
Speaker C: We've been good. You know, we went up to Reading Saturday as a family, all both my boys, their families and us, and went through the light show up there at Turtle Bay. Went through the museum and went over to the train store and checked out a bunch of model train stuff. Go ahead.
Speaker A: Train store. I didn't know they had one. Where's that
Speaker C: at? AF608? It's on railroad Avenue. I believe it's called Reading Model Trains. It's a club store and they have their large layout in the next room over. It's. It's nice, it's. The kids really enjoyed it and so did I.
Speaker A: Yeah, I copy that. Yeah, I used to be at HO Gauge. In fact, I still got a lot of equipment, but I haven't gotten it out of the box for forever
Speaker B: in
Speaker A: a day. And my interest shifted to ham radio and with both of them it was always just playing with, with the electricity and it sounds like a good family outing.
Speaker C: Yeah, it was, it was a lot of fun. Really enjoyed it and you know, everybody was, oh, you don't want to go because of the weather. But it turned out. Yeah, there was some sprinkles, but it was nice.
Speaker A: Yeah, good. Anyhow, thanks for coming back. And so this is KI6SMN. Be clear on your final. Okay,
Speaker C: Phil, have a good day. AF 608, 73.
