Speaker A: Hey, ken. Sorry about that. Yeah. How you doing? Doing old. I don't know if you dropped out. What's going on there in Panaca? Middle of nowhere. Nevada.
Speaker B: It's the best place to
Speaker C: be in Nevada. And no place where nobody wants to go. Nobody ever wants to move here. We're just out here by ourselves, loving it.
Speaker A: Any place that's in the middle of nowhere is a great place to be.
Speaker B: I guess you're down
Speaker C: there. I don't know where you're much about Columbia, but I knew. I knew a guy. I seen it on the Advertiser. With a mule. Raised coffee down there. I don't know.
Speaker A: Well, believe it or not, contrary to all of the Hollywood stories, coffee is the biggest product here in Colombia. Coffee and flowers and plants and gold. Oil.
Speaker B: That sounds like that's kind
Speaker C: of a rich country they got. If they've got gold and oil, there ain't much more you need. And coffee. They got coffee, they got flour. What more do you need?
Speaker A: I don't need any more than that. I just need my coffee. Need my gas for my car. I need electricity for my house. That's it. That's all I need. Well, the pretty little woman just sat back down here. We're gonna finish a movie. I just didn't want to leave you hanging. Or you didn't leave me hanging. One of those. Anyways, good to hear you, Ken. And you enjoy your middle of nowhere. If you go to qrz, look me up and you click on the little map, you'll see my. My middle of nowhere. Talk to you later. Good to hear you. N6KE.

Amateur Radio Newsline report number 2516 with the release date of Friday, January 16, 2026 to follow in five four, three, two one. The following is a QST US Financial Traders renew their call to use the HF Band RF noise grounds flights in Greece and California hams have extra large plans for Winter Field Day. All this and more as Amateur Radio Newsline Report number 2516 comes your way right now from around the world. This is Newsline, Amateur Radio's first independent on the air News and Bulletin Service. Now Reporting from Charleston, West Virginia, here's Jim Dameron, NATNW in our top story, a group representing seven financial trading firms is pressing the U.S. federal Communications Commission to respond to their petition submitted almost three years ago asking for permanent allocation of HF frequencies for data transmission. Kent Peterson, KC0DTY has those details. The Shortwave Mic Modernization Coalition is pressing the FCC for an answer to its petition, which was filed in the spring of 2023. The group is seeking the authorization to transmit all the bands between 2 MHz and 25 MHz under Part 90 of the FCC rules. A number of the bands being sought either include or are adjacent to amateur radio bands. The Coalition's original filing drew substantial opposition from from amateur radio operators and the ARRL, citing the potential for interference, the ARRL said. In 2024, the IARU's monitoring system detected what was believed to be HF trading interference on the amateur portion of 20 meters. The US Coast Guard also objected to the petition, saying additional traffic would raise noise floors for everyone. Last year, three of the firms were given FCC approval as experimental license. They were prohibited from charging fees or receiving payments for anything related to their on the air operations. The coalition believes that granting permanency will solidify their status in business and will not create interference as feared because the technology exists to locate open channels. This is Kent Peterson, KC0DGY noise on the Frequency Frequency is bothersome enough when you're attempting to contact a much wanted dx, but noise on frequencies used by commercial aircraft can shut commercial airspace down, as it did earlier this month in Greece. Graham Kemp, BK4BV has that report. Flights into Greece were temporarily grounded, delayed or diverted this month after W6RHC repeater checked one.

Speaker A: This is W7X Ray Zulu calling the Oroville Amateur Radio Society. Sunday night net. This net meets Sunday evenings at 8pm local time. And good evening to all. This is Jim, your net control station for tonight. And. And, well, let's see who's out there. Stations wishing to check into the net, please call now. This W7X Ray Zulu,

2026-01-19 04:02:32 UTC 1200.0s · WD6AXM TX (146.085 MHz)

Speaker A: This is w7x ray zulu and I have three checked in here and it's a good evening again here for three who are in the zoom session. K06 git. Good evening again, kim, kf6ewo. Good evening again gary and k6hfp. Good evening again, john. Do we have any additional check in to the net? This is w7x ray zulu. Now, nothing heard. Might be kind of a light session tonight here. Anyway, let's jump to the roundtable mode here, K06 Git. Ken, you're going to be leading off and if you would pass it to KF6 Echo, Whiskey Oster, that's Gary and Gary you'll be passing it to K6HFP. So Ken, go ahead please. K06 git and the net, W7XL.
Speaker B: Well thank you everybody. This is Ken, K06G I T. Ken in Brownsville. I've missed you guys. I've had, like I said, some. I had a house guest that was over here for Sunday night dinner. As far as radio is concerned, I've been playing around. I gotta. I had some extra funds for Christmas
Speaker A: so I bought a
Speaker B: signal analyzer so I can test some of these cheaper Chinese pieces of crap to see exactly how dirty they are. But other than that I haven't doing a whole lot other than radio other than getting ready to hang a tower and go from there. I'll pass it to Gary, K6E W. Oh thanks Ken.
Speaker C: This is KF6EWO. Gary in Oroville. I've just been busy working southern at the school district. I've done a little playing around on the radio. Had to do some yard, yard work, you know, kind of distractions there, but not a whole lot going on on this end. So with that I'll pass it over to John, K6HFP, KF6EWO, KF6EWO and the net. This is K6HFP. Thanks Gary. This is John up Norville. Out of ten for me this week. Kind of went by pretty quick. Kind of missing the rain a little bit these days. Haven't had any in a couple days, so kind of looking forward to the next rain. But definitely when we're getting the rain, I'm gonna be like, can't this rain stop? Anyways, one thing I thought that was pretty cool is the that Dragon capsule entry re entry that went on this this week. I was kind of thinking, well we
Speaker A: probably won't see it.
Speaker C: I went outside when it was supposed to be re entering and sure enough saw it shooting across the sky it was a lot faster than I thought it was gonna be. But also I kind of thought it was gonna be a little bit faster than I did see it. So I mean, I thought it was a little slower than it was supposed to be, but definitely was jamming up there because at the altitude it was going faster than what planes would be. You know, it definitely was faster than in planes, for sure it was jamming. But that was cool to see and you know, you don't see reentries very often, especially in this part of California. So anyways, the X flare that we had today is supposed to be producing some geomagnetic storms in a couple days. So we'll be looking for that. Maybe it'll be as good as a couple months months ago. Maybe it won't even happen. We'll see what happens. Other than that, that's all I got for now. Hope everybody's doing good. And I'll pass it Back to Jim W7X Ray Zulu and the net K6HFP.
Speaker A: K6HFP and the net W7XZ. Okay, John, very good. And well, I can recall one evening right around our local sundown one summer catching the International Space Station making pass. And that was kind of spectacular. Well, you got to realize, of course, things going, what, somewhere around 15, 16 miles an hour. And it does tend to move across the sky pretty well there, staying in orbit. Well, before I ramble a bit here, I'll put out a call. Do we have any additional check ins to the NAS W7X Rays? Nothing heard. Not too awfully much to report here as far as radio operating and all that. Aside from keeping a morning schedule on 75 meters with a couple friends, I managed a couple FD8 contacts at least to have some 20, 26 log data in the log database here in the computer. But that's been about it. And aside from that, I've been just kind of keeping up on things, getting set to hopefully get going on income tax when the different 1099 forms show up in the mail and all that. And my appointment on Friday in Chico and be looking for getting my periodic treatment there to ward off the macular degeneration.
Speaker B: The only other thing is we 6A XM receiver.
Speaker A: The only other thing is I had a couple mornings where I had power outages. I have a couple uninterruptible power supplies here and one of them was still working. The other one though, apparently the battery went away in it. So hopefully on Friday on my trip to Chico, I'll be taking that unit with me and telephone conversation with batteries plus bulbs there indicates that
Speaker B: they can
Speaker A: install new new battery in the uninterruptible power supply there and it'll be quite a bit less than say buying a new unit. Anyway, so much for that. I'll run it back up the line here at this time. Does any station have any additional comments
Speaker B: for the Nat this W7XZ KS6080 Go ahead Ken. Yeah, well I didn't watch the re entry of the capsule. I knew it was coming in. It's a medical emergency. They had to evacuate an astronaut from the ISS and that's what was occurring. And while I didn't witness it, that was something here. But I follow quite regularly the space launches and things that are happening up there. And I was driving up actually strangely to my club meeting in Nevada county and one evening going down through Browns Valley I saw a very strange contrail in the sky and I was like going could that be a launch? And I marked with time down for it and I went home and then found it was indeed what I was seeing was the rocket. What I was seeing was the contrail from the launch and it's. I've seen a couple other things. I drove out, I mean I was trying to drive up in 86 to see the first shuttle launch from, from Vandenberg but then was that was canceled because of the Challenger accident so I didn't get to go see that. So I've never seen a launch. But I, I followed things with rockets for a long time.
Speaker A: Right.
Speaker B: Driving across one time from Mojave to Tehachapi, I noticed on Highway 58 all these vehic vehicles pulled off to the side. I was curious what's going on because you're just north of Edwards and what they were watching was going to be a solid fuel booster test that was not close but it was in the distance, you could watch it and it was strange because of the distance of sound. You saw it ignite and you're watching it burn and then you get the sound. KO6JT.
Speaker A: Ko6 git and the net W7X. Okay, Ken. And yeah, quite interesting. I don't see any other station have
Speaker B: additional comments for the Napis W7X KF6EW.
Speaker A: Go ahead Gary.
Speaker C: Yeah, I was just thinking it's just me and you probably on the 10 meter net. Did you want to just skip it for tonight?
Speaker A: Oh, I think I could forego it.
Speaker C: Okay, sounds like a plan. I just wanted to get that in there, just the two of us. So I don't see any point in even messing with it
Speaker A: actually Sounds good to me. Oh let's see John, anything additional for the net kf6h k6hfp and the net
Speaker C: w7xzip k6hfp yeah, unfortunately I don't have my 10 meter antenna up tonight but hopefully next week go for that. We'll shoot for that. One other thing I was going to mention was just a reminder for the test session that we're going to be having in March. March 13 I'm shooting for my extra upgrade so we'll be studying for that and just a reminder for anybody that might want to Upgrade and stuff March 13 at in Orville and
Speaker B: I think
Speaker C: Jim is planning on sending some information out for that as well pretty soon. So other than that that's all I got back to you Jim.
Speaker A: K6HMP K6HFP and the net W7X said okay John. Yeah I'm planning on essentially putting out multiple pieces of email about it and convey hopefully any interested licensees seeking upgrade or any prospect of new licensee is most welcome to that session on March 13th in Oroville.
Speaker B: K06GIT
Speaker A: Go ahead Ken.
Speaker B: Yeah, I might try to shoot for that. That sounds like a good time frame. I really push it forward on my study time on this. I'm curious here if I have a 10 meter I know I'm reading about propagation through radio and antennas but if I have a vertical I know you're not it's going to give interference trying to talk to other horizontal or dipole. Can you hear me at all if I set up a 10 meter vertical?
Speaker A: Well it kind of depends on surrounding objects and a few things like that which would detract from say pure vertical polarization. As far as working skywave the context through the ionosphere on 10 meters horizontal or vertical polarization ends up kind of random anyway after bouncing off the ionosphere once or so.
Speaker B: Okay, next week I will have that set up and I will attempt to do the 10 meter band after this next and see what we do.
Speaker A: Okay, very good. Well horizontal polarization I found has worked pretty well as far as our local 10 meter net and Joe N9BD up in Dobbins has actually been able to We've been able to hear each other on 10 Sunday nights when he checks in.
Speaker B: Yeah I, I know Joe, I. I need to talk with him because I'm ready now this spring to try to set up a balance in my tallest
Speaker A: tree and string
Speaker B: wire up to it back and forth for A horizontal dipole. But I mean. Or I'm actually probably going to do an inverted V. But I want to set up a couple other type of antennas. I don't have a tower so I'm going to try doing a long wire for getting for the higher lower bands. What do you want to call it for? That's the way I want to try doing it.
Speaker A: There are all kinds of options as far. Well, depending on the location and all that. What you have available for natural antennas, for supports and the like. I kind of do what I can here and essentially I've got an inverted L. The vertical part of it is about 50ft and the flat top was made to be about 130ft. So it would be on the order of a quarter wave on 160 meters which kind of of optimized there. But the antenna, I have an automatic remote tuner I use at the bottom of the wire there to tune it actually on every band 160 through 10 meters, including the work bands and 60 meters as well.
Speaker B: Do you have a tower?
Speaker A: Well, I brought one down with me from Nevada back in 2006. It's still lying on the ground. I haven't tried erecting it and actually at this point in my advanced years and all that, I would probably be in need of quite a bit of help to get the thing up also. The question being just where would I want to put put it here on the property?
Speaker B: If you wanted to sell it, let me know. W E Z A S M receiver
Speaker A: I do have some tall digger pines on the property though, which have enabled allowed me to get some antennas up. Well, let's see, the end of the Inverted L is about 670ft off the ground at the far end anyway, which kind of helps with working on just about all the bands.
Speaker B: I know that he has a pneumatic launcher to launch something over the top. But I might pay a climber this spring to climb my tallest tree and set up a rig and pulley so I can move it up and down if I need to. And I can then rig that into my station where I'm on right now.
Speaker A: Well, I've utilized slingshot with
Speaker B: half half
Speaker A: ounce fishing weights and fish line to get some ropes up in the trees. I have a pneumatic tennis ball gone here that I've been able to get some ropes up at the 70 foot level and some of these digger pines here.
Speaker B: Yeah, I just might just want to pay a climber to climb up and make it completely permanent, get a good limb, do some trimming so I don't get interference from touching other wires. It would be that expensive? It kind of looked around it, but, yeah, that's kind of. I might want to do something and then have the tennis ball cannon. I'll call it as a backup type thing. Or the slingshot at the end. I know about doing that with a fishing weight and all of that. I actually have all of that. So it's time now to put a permanent high antenna in one of my trees.
Speaker A: Well, it's good to know a tree climber, that's for sure.
Speaker B: I can advertise up here. I'm sure I can find somebody.

Speaker A: 6 mvp n7 tod system 21.
Speaker B: Hey Matt, what's going on?
Speaker A: Well, I was going to ask you the same thing. Heard you Saturday. Sounded like maybe you were out and about doing stu.
Speaker B: Did you say Saturday? Is that what you said?
Speaker A: Yeah, Saturday.
Speaker B: Well, I don't know. Yeah, I guess I was doing something but I don't quite remember everything but nothing too exciting I guess.
Speaker A: I guess I'm not the only one with that problem. Oh well came off of my four days off this morning back on the board at the bottom of it and probably won't go to work until tomorrow night is earliest. So the Northern Nevada Martin Luther King Memorial Committee does the caravan every day on Martin Luther King Day. Headed out to participate in that with the motor car in tower.
Speaker B: Okay, copy that. Well I am heading down south to 31 site and Jeff QLP is going to meet me down there and we're going to do some work on that tomorrow we set the plan and he way so but I'll be down in Southern Calhol week deal with other stuff too. So that's my plan.
Speaker A: Oh boy. Have fun.
Speaker B: Oh you know it certainly try. Hopefully they'll let me have on down there Weather should be decent. I think it's supposed to get some kind of a front coming in towards the end of the week but other than that hopefully things will go well. So all right. Some tule fog here in the valley so I think you know.
Speaker A: Yep, that's nasty stuff. 21 was getting a little scratchy so I just flipped over to 24 here but yeah, drive carefully. I've seen that they've had some pretty bad accidents down in in that fog there and don't know if you're going to be anywhere close to Bellflower or not but if you are, you have any extra time and you've never been might want to check out the LA County Fire Museum. Last time I was in that area went to that it was real very very interesting. So anyway drive carefully there and we'll catch you later. Step 3 For now M7 TOD bubble Sun Valley.
Speaker B: All right Matt, have a good rest of the day there and we'll catch up with you in 672. And one more chance for Jeff to wake up and answer the radio. And six QLP.

Speaker A: Hope he's not pulling a JKV on you, man. Wished I could come. Yeah, if they hadn't hold my breath on you, huh? It was all good until it was that man's company. Locked everybody down. Nope. Not granting any time off. No vacation, no nothing. Yep, it's all hands on deck for all the upcoming events. And no bueno, man. All right, I didn't. I wasn't counting on you going anyway. If we were, we would have talked way before yesterday. Yep, copy that. All right, dude. Well, I'll be here for you, man. At least remotely, right? There you go. You know it. All right. Fun in the pea soup here. So people don't realize, you know, you need to turn your headlights on so that you're tail lights will come on and other cars can see you too, from behind. But, oh, well, you can't fix stupid. Oh, and there's a lot of that out there, man. I encountered that my last trip to Tlock. Yep. All right, we'll. We'll be around. Catch up with you at 670K Tech. Check WP6J KV.
Speaker B: Just want to say good morning to everyone out here. This is NHP8. Your name is Keith. I'm up at Berkeley NHT on the open repeater and just want to say good morning. I just turned this thing on, See if I got it.
Speaker A: Yep, I got it. Yeah, Tom's probably dizzy, but anyways. Well, good morning to you. Have a great day off if you're off. So anyways, that's Mike over in Pacifica, WP68TV. And have a good one.
Speaker B: Okay. Yeah, I just reprogram. I just got my YAESU VX sixes back from repair. Programming. I come across the Carla machine. So. Yeah, I just threw these in here. So I just want to say good morning. It's pretty nice. It sounds like I got a good group of people out here. I looked on the Internet online and man, you guys got a nice wide variety of repeaters linked together all throughout California and Nevada.

Speaker A: Yep.
Speaker B: Oh, I heard you this morning.
Speaker A: Leaving about 8:30. Okay. Have you been hearing me calling you periodically and. Or got my text yet? Well, no, no one. Yes, because I've been doing my morning ritual here. Breakfast, shower, etc. Oh, scratch the third one.
Speaker B: I did get your text.
Speaker A: Yeah. Okay, I can send that to you.
Speaker B: She had rolled over and smacked the snooze button again.
Speaker A: Sounds like a plant. So, Mike, did they give you today off?
Speaker B: Yeah, I got today off, but that
Speaker A: was the extent of it. All right, we got clear skies over there.
Speaker B: Beautiful. 68 degrees. Man, it's. This is like our summer.
Speaker A: All right, see, 48 degrees down here. Fog has been, you know, intermittent on and off and in and out, the whole nine yards. But, oh, well,
Speaker B: LA is gonna be a lot like us up here, so you guys will be in the good stuff. Yeah.
Speaker A: Okay. And Jeff, if you're still listening, keep an eye out for your text. And so far, so good. Somewhere somewhere around Coalinga and everything's moving along. So at some point I'll take a lunch break and, you know, everything should be within the time frame, I believe. Did you get my last. Over a couple of minutes ago. Because I did respond. What I heard that you got my text. Right. Did you say something else?
Speaker B: Okay, I think that was basically it. And then something about snooze.
Speaker A: And I came back and said that sounds like a plan. I think that was the last thing I said, but for a second there I thought maybe I didn't key it up or something, but. All right. No, yeah, I'll send You that there stuff and be headed out here in a couple hours. Yep. All right, sounds like a plan. I'm starting to smell something in the air. I think I'm getting close to whatchamacallit. Harris. All right, talk to you guys later. I'll be here in second meeting. Yep, that's the first clue. Okay, I'll catch you on radio or text or something when I get destinated out that way. And six qop. Hey, before I forget, I'm thinking you might want to re enable the pass shots back from up there. And then when I get in within range of 31, I'll disable it down here. So this way we'll have local control of things in case, you know, we have issues. Oh, okay. Yeah, can do that. Oh, do that in just a couple minutes there. All right. I'm thinking, you know, that'd probably be the smart thing to do, but, you know, who knows. All right, catch you later. N6MBT.
Speaker B: Since I got both of you here, let me run just one quick thing by. You know the dilemma with 32, right. This structure is going to be completely removed and replaced and rebuilt. I think at that time I'm going to spring for a new antenna and feed line for 32. So what are you thinking for an antenna? Like doing enclosed fire fiberglass thing like about 7 decibels again? Or should we go with something a little more robust like tillaway?
Speaker A: Well, I don't know. I ponder that. Unfortunately, none of them are cheap in Callaway. There's no exception of it after. Sure. But obviously something that's going to hold up, you know what I mean, to the the south air and the high winds and brutality that mother nature brings in there.
Speaker B: Well, we got pretty good service out of this antenna TV products, the poor dipoles. But I'm sure they're probably nearing the end of their useful life. I have noticed as of late that the signal is getting worse and worse. You know, especially notice it in the usual spots where it used to be a little scratchy. Now it's not there anymore, like in sneak lane and the hole there and down there at work in the parking lot, it kind of flutters around and it used to be right to the peg. So yeah, I know it's antenna, so we're doing that. I'm going to replace the feed line also.
Speaker A: All right, well, that would be bueno. And let me know if you need feed line because we got plenty of it and probably need to move some of it. And also. Oh yeah, I'm definitely starting to gasp for air here.
Speaker B: I'm smelling it coming out of my radio.
Speaker A: God, it's just so lovely. And It's. It's only 48 degrees out. Imagine if it was 105.
Speaker B: We both have been there and done that, man. There's no getting away from it, especially at night. It's like, you know.
Speaker A: Yeah, I know. Believe me, I know. All right, well, what do you think
Speaker B: they're going to do that have any time frame yet? Well, you know, American tower, they're never quick to do anything, so I'll. I'll let you know. I'm thinking, you know, probably should keep the same pattern that we have. A little offset, you know, a little more juice up and down the cut. I think that that's a wiener. I wouldn't even mind a little more game.
Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. All right, well, see what you can find out there. You sure we're not running a watt or something? And seems like I can see antenna.
Speaker B: Could be, but the receiver's diminished the same amount, so. Yeah, spots where I've been reported as scratchy. Like, you know, when you go underneath the overpass there in San Jose before you get off by the airport, Ralph is telling me, hey, we got all scratchy there, and I was running 35 watts. So, yeah, I suspect it's the antenna or the connector up top, you know.
Speaker A: Okay, well, if you got the reciprocity effect, then I think, you know, and. Or, you know, maybe the feed line has got impregnated with H2O or who knows what. But yeah, I mean, those antenna antennas, my God, they're way past their prime for sure. God bless them, huh?
Speaker B: But, yeah, even here in my place, I'm line of sight and I can move my HT around that I can actually hear little tiny gnolls, you know, it doesn't drop up. I get a little tiny bit of hiss. It never used to do that, you know, so. Yep, I suspect antenna. But anyways, next trip, I. I got the site master in. I can see and Ritsu in the car, and my service monitor is still there. So anyway, I will give it the old once over and confirm. All right.
Speaker A: Garage is at. I think I'm going to pull over here and take a break. I'll be back. Not so long.
Speaker B: Yeah, I. I've worked at Kinga Box all the way through Bakersfield, so, yeah, that was on 99. There might be a little different story on 5, but at least you. You'll be hot as you climb the gate grapevine. But hey, when all else fails, there's always echo link, right? Oh, replay. You have all stuff. Sorry, guys.
Speaker A: All right. All right.
Speaker B: Dude, next time talk poster. The paid pause and the this. This butter from your display or whatever the Kenwood's doing is almost as loud. So. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know.

Speaker B: Fake paws wasn't that bad. No, your. Your constant sputtering. You know that background sputter that's always there you were same level. Is that.

Speaker A: Fresno link up. And 6 mpt.
Speaker B: Hey Tom, what system are you on now?
Speaker A: 48. No, not 15.
Speaker B: Okay, 15 is a good one.
Speaker A: Adult favorite. Let's see, what does the sign say coming up here? Junction Route 46, 18 miles. Oh, that doesn't tell you a whole lot, does it?
Speaker B: That tells me a whole bunch. I've been up and down that highway a thousand times. I know exactly where you are.
Speaker A: Oh yeah, you are the exception to the rule. You probably know more highways, freeways and byways than the average. How clumsy of me to even doubt that.
Speaker B: Where are you staying tonight? You going all the way down to Orange county or are you stopping somewhere there before the hill?
Speaker A: Going all the way, man. Going to. I got a place in Anaheim that both Jeff and I will be staying at. And then I'm picking him up sometime around 4ish at the John Wayne Airport here in OC.
Speaker B: Oh, wow. Isn't he special? Well, his Toyota Prius wouldn't drive up Santiago anyways.
Speaker A: Right?
Speaker B: All right, well good. Well, keep in mind there's been a lot of vehicle break ins down there, so just make sure you empty your car out. Wait a minute, are you driving your little suv? Your company SUV thingy? Yeah, good luck with that.
Speaker A: I'm driving the bigger hoe, as in Tahoe and loaded with stuff, man. So trying to empty it all out isn't going to be very practical. But the place does look safer. And there was parking, you know, off street, inside the courtyard type area or whatever you want to call it was more protected. That's one of the reasons why I texted. But anyhow, yeah, he doesn't have a Prius, but just like you know, you know, programmers are all kind of shooting whatever they prefer to pick them up.
Speaker B: All right, well, my very last night was in a hotel room there and the bottom of the hill there, grapevine. And somebody broke out the back window of my pickup truck and stole everything out of the back seat. The next day we hopped on a plane and left America. So yeah, that's the first time ever my vehicle had ever been broken into in my 60 years of being alive. Well, at the time I was 59. 59 years of being alive. My very last day living in United States, my vehicle was broken into.
Speaker A: Wow, that really blows, man. Crappy partying fu. You know, that really, really sucks. I'm sorry that happened to you. That's just not right. Not free and you know, just you hope that they get whatever comes to
Speaker B: them, you know what I mean? Well, we took all of our luggage we took it. We took all of our bags out, drug them into the hotel room with us. The only thing they got out of the back seat of the pickup truck
Speaker A: at the time was
Speaker B: a trash bag and a box that had some stuff in it for my daughter, you know, just some crap that I wasn't taking with me. So they didn't get much, but, you
Speaker A: know, it was just the point. Yeah, well, hopefully where we're staying will be, will be better, but I gotta put Jeff on night watch then. So. We're packing blankets so it's not very easy to see anything. And low profile antennas, so kind of hard to see those. Maybe they'll think I'm with ICE or something and then, you know, decide to trash the vehicle just because you never know anyhow. All right, well, that's the plan. And then tomorrow, I think. Yeah, we already talked about, you know, general time frame and, and what have you, and I'll just, I'll try and send you a message just to give you a heads up, let you know, you know, when we're heading out or something like that. So you have somewhat of a, a ballpark idea.
Speaker B: Okay, very good. I'll be listening and monitoring everything. All right, you, you enjoy the rest of your drive. And you still got, what is it, Monday? You still got. Well, with traffic you can still got about 16 hours to go.
Speaker A: Good luck.
Speaker B: All right, see you.
Speaker A: M6 candy. Watch it. That's not funny, Cu. I've got about three hours to go, but I don't think this thing is. Oh, that's smart. It's the built in GPS in the vehicle. So I don't, I don't know if it can take into consideration traffic stuff. It might, but I'm not holding that breath anyway. All right, have a good one. We'll talk to you later. And six mdt.

And I was going to answer tell you something else but I already just forgot. So, you know, I should have taken that exit and used the facilities. Oh well, all right. What else Can I say something? Oh well, it'll come back to me. Anyway, have a good rest of your day there and we'll talk to you later.
Speaker A: All right. I'll be monitoring. Me and my brother used to haul potatoes out of there. Go and drive truck and go to Santa Maria on 166. Yeah, I know five. I know five. Very good. Took it from one time. Took it from Seattle to la. Almost Canada. We made it up that far though. But yeah, I know the highway. Used to live in Oregon. Different Stockton. Been to Tracy Mana. All that stuff in there. Vi all that stuff. So okay. When you think about it. Give me an hour. 82. 60 w y.
Speaker B: Okay. And yeah, it says I got about three hours left or less than just south side, 128 miles to LA. So, of course, traffic not included. All right, see you later at 672.
Speaker A: Right around Highway 10 and 5. Oh, boy. Oh, no. This.
Speaker B: See.
Speaker A: What? I don't even know what time it is now, but you might go there, hit it around two, I guess. I don't even know what time it is, but anyway. Okay, Traffic. Traffic. Start from the grapevine all the way down to. I don't know, I'm guessing Anaheim. You're going? All right. Talk to. I'll be monitoring.

Speaker A: If that was you. Never mind. I'll scratch. Hey, Jeff, how you doing? Hey, Ken, how's it going? Doing pretty good. Getting ready to leave here in a couple minutes. See if Tom was up over the grapevine yet or what have you. I know he passed Harris a good hour or so back. So he's south of that somewhere in the Bakersfield area, at least.
Speaker B: Well, if I was to guess, he could have stopped in Lost Hills to get some gas. If he didn't, and he's probably heading down towards the bottom of the grapevine there. He could be.
Speaker A: He could be getting close to that,
Speaker B: which 15 doesn't work too good there.
Speaker A: Yeah, he can actually pick up 30 in the Bakersfield area, but I was not able to. To get it to respond to me about an hour ago. Just trying a couple of codes and trying to do a thing or two. So I don't know if 31's online or it's just not decoding DTMS stuff. I'll check with him when I get down and see if he was able to get into 30 at all at any point. He's right at the bottom of the grapevine on the north side here.
Speaker B: Well, in my experience, 30 has always been kind of tough there on the five. Sometimes it works a little better, a little bit better there on the 99 or. Or if you're traveling across the 58, but on the five there on 30, sometimes it could be a little tough. You may not hear him anymore until he gets up to the top there
Speaker A: and he's able to hit 31. Yeah, and 31's path, the link path, is so bad that I actually shut it off about three weeks, four weeks ago. So even if he gets into 31, he won't get back up this way until I get down there and we get each other on 31 local there. That's all right.
Speaker B: So when do you arrive there in John Wayne?
Speaker A: About 4pm so that'll more or less be pretty close to just about right for him to come scooting down in there. And he might get a chance to stop at the hotel first, or he might just go straight to John Wayne, depending on how many stops he makes between now and then.
Speaker B: Well, his GPS probably has been calculating real good, but he's gonna. He's going to have a very, very slow progress there on the five through Los Angeles. May even be better off taking the 210 over to the 57 and go south down to John Wayne that way. That's the way I would go. But you know. Yeah. Taking that five all the way through Los Angeles, that's going to be extremely slow for him.
Speaker A: All right, well,
Speaker B: when I wake up in the morning and I have my breakfast and my coffee and all that stuff, I'll be standing by on standby. And it's going to be very nice having Santiago working correctly and. And on All Star.
Speaker A: Yeah. Fingers crossed. It just goes. Well, if anybody should know traffic down there, you should know it pretty well. Yeah. It'll be Monday afternoon, so he'll hit all of the commute traffic just about as he's cruising through it, trying to cruise. Actually, if we get up to the hill around 11 or noonish, that's like closer to 3 your time. So I suppose you could be ready a little early, but we probably won't be ready. And at that point. So you're afternoon time, so keep that in mind. Okay. We will catch up with you tomorrow, if not later this evening sometime. And again, fingers crossed it all's going good here. I'm just about to get on the road in a couple minutes.
Speaker B: All right. I already talked to the wife. She gave me. She gave me tomorrow afternoon off. All right, you have a safe drive to the airport and a safe flight down to John Wayne. If you get there and Tom's not there, just grab yourself a cold beverage. Talk to you later. And I will be available tomorrow.
Speaker A: Get her done.
Speaker B: Take care.
Speaker A: M6K and E. Yep. That's the plan, is get down there and get him on 31 local and find out whether or not I've got time to get a cold one. Okay, we'll talk to you later in 6qov.
