Kn6mzk Mobile paradise.
Speaker A: Hey, steve, you still here? N6trg.
Speaker B: Kn6NGK mobile monitoring. 20 minutes about what's going on there, Mike?
Speaker A: Oh, I was just doing a little research and stumbled into something that's really cool. A lot of places I go to, mostly on my E bike, that were completely different back in the time that this document was written about. Back in the old mining days.
Speaker B: Oh yeah. Did they find much gold up that way? Yeah, I imagine everything was different back then. Huh. What's that about 175 years ago?
Speaker A: Well, the guy that made the original discovery was credited for starting the gold rush of 1849.
Speaker B: So yeah, he started the gold rush. There wasn't somebody else over this way, like I've heard, like Sutter's Fort in that area?
Speaker A: Nope, not according to this document. His name was Reading and he was credited for the starting the whole thing. And old Shasta was listed as Shasta City back then on the map.
Speaker B: Now, I heard about Mr. Reading before, I thought, but I think it was from you. But anyway. So do you know the history of Shasta City then? I mean, in other words, Mount Shasta? Of course we know in the distance. But why would you call that place Shasta City? It wasn't that close to Mount Shasta. Right. In comparison to other cities that are there today?
Speaker A: Well, I'd have to dig up the grave of Mr. Reading and DNA on his brain to figure that out, but. Or find some historian. This is kind of an older document and it's a PDF. I doubt that those people that wrote it are still alive.
Speaker B: No, interestingly enough, my grandma used to go around and try to study different things and write little books and things like that. She would try to sell them in the local stores over there around. What do they call that now, around. Well, mountain Gates where they're from. But that area, that's close there. That town that's close there. That might be like Lake Shasta City or something. Yeah, Anyway, but so she had a few of her books and things in there, but they were little, kind of almost like a pamphlet. And we never did very well. Of course, people didn't care about local history at that point Time. I don't think.
Speaker A: The. Document is called the Interlaked document, but Shasta Lake did. And Whiskeytown Lake didn't exist back then. So I'm not sure exactly why it was called the Interlake Document.
Speaker B: Coincidentally, it was probably right around 60 or maybe even up to 65 degrees. I don't know. I'd have to look it up. It's Paradise. Nice, beautiful sunshine. I did take a picture, didn't think nothing of it. But now that I'm rolling down into paradise 48 degrees and fog is about a quarter mile visibility.
Speaker A: Oh wow. Well, completely different here. I've been out in and out walking and taking it in. It's beautiful up here. Sorry to see tell you that but yeah, we haven't had fog in a while, knock on wood.
Speaker B: Well, I don't don't want to portend anything but we didn't have any yesterday and I heard it was headed this direction so maybe it'll stop around here somewhere. It wasn't bad last night. There was a little bit of patchiness. We are driving from Oroville back into Chico so. So you never know. I think we before you did last time so could be headed your way.
Speaker A: Well, you know one of my things that I need to be doing and I took a break on it today but one of the things will be getting the, the pi4b that's in the S bits operational and I asked. Gone if. If he could give me the settings in his establish and got a real funny question from him because you know these pies all run raspy and he was saying well what is, what system are you running? Yeah, it's, you know, it's the same piece of Girish if he's got a version version passive but you know, I don't know why he would have trouble figuring that out. In fact what I think is happening with that, that particular version is it's got even got jf. But I think what I'm gonna do since I got such a strange question is try to talk with the owner of the company that built it because I. He's a friend on, you know, I've connected with him so. So I might be able to get directly to him.
Speaker B: Well, he's probably asking you what operating system is on there or something maybe. I mean Raspbian is just the underlying kernel I think. And then you know, like on cam4ack he was putting on the Debian bullseye that was part of the instructions. So that was the operating system that you were running at that point. So it was a Debian based operating system. And then he would overlay it, you'd go on GitHub and get his PI build at the time, which now he's changed it to 73 Linux.
Speaker A: Right.
Speaker B: So I'm sure that's kind of the area that Don's asking you because it's pretty important. But anyway, it sounds like he wants to Help you? I don't know much about what you're up to because I don't know the S bits. But you're saying it runs on a pi4B and what the radio is like attached to it or is it inserted in the USB ports or something? How does the radio work off the 54B?
Speaker A: It's actually plugged right into the radio. It's got a special place on the board and it plugs right into the board. And the same is going to happen with his. The same thing. He just got one version beyond. And what they did with his version by the time they got to his version is they had box there, they had put it in a box, things like that. You know, he may have never ever really looked at the ply. I mean, unless you. Well, yeah, he would. Well, you know, he might not have because that particular version has a display on it. So you don't know necessarily look right at the Linux.
Speaker B: Yeah. Box being around it and everything. I don't know. So on those aesthetics, do you build them or do they come build. I was thinking, you know, knowing him, he likes to build things. So I would think he has to build it. So then that means what you have to put in your own software and stuff or is it already. Already done?
Speaker A: They just hand you a Micro SD and you plug it into the. To your PI. Although there were different versions by the time that one came out. And it may have had the. You could buy them with a PI installed and the Micro SD installed into that PI. So I don't know which one. He got the one when I bought it. I don't think you could do that. You had to install your own PI
Speaker B: and
Speaker A: they may have had one that was boxed and so forth, I don't know. But I didn't buy it. I bought a board that has a big old piece of plastic on one side so that nothing gets shorted out, I guess. And you had to remove this clear plastic off and Then plug the PI 4G in there and stick the micro SD chip into that. The backside has a huge heat sink on it.
Speaker B: Yep. It sounds like everything you're doing is complicated. I don't know why, but anyway, I was just thinking, you know, take your 7100 and give it a try. You know, you'd probably want to put JS8 on it anyway. So I thought that would be a good idea. That way you could cancel out like if the computer's having any sort of a problem or anything. If you could get that going on there And I realized it may be installed or whatever. So hopefully you have quick connects on the tower leads and things like that. I don't know. That was just my thoughts and I don't know, I guess, I guess that's complicated too.
Speaker A: Well, now, you know, something similar to that could be done. What I would do is take my. I have a case for. I think a pi4b would fit in and I'll make a copy of this SBITX Micro sd. And all it is is a Linux system and you have to click on SBITX to use that part of it. And if you don't click on sbitx, then everything is there, all the programs are. FTA there. I added JSA Call and it's in, it's. It's in the menu. I don't remember putting it in the menu. It might have just added itself somehow, I don't know. It didn't have JSA Call when I, when I got it, I had to put it in and a bunch of other little programs, one of which is in fact aesthetics is the only one that's on the desktop of the pod. And so they want to make it so, you know, well, you got to click on that, but you don't have to. If you're not hooked up to an aesthetics, you don't have to. The thing is, is that the installations were all designed for the Aspidix radio. So if I were to. Try to run the 7100 on that system, I would have to change the installation. I could, you know, I could run JSA call, but I'd have to change all the configurations and everything. For FT8 and for JSA call and for FT digits, I have to change everything.
Speaker B: Yep, that's pretty much what I have to do almost every, every time I operate. So you get to memorizing these settings and things. But I am fortunate that I've been using yaesu. So I've got four different radios or whatever, but they're all yaesu so similar. But you have to change the radio and the audio codecs are different, the COM ports are different a lot of times. So that does take me a couple minutes when I first get to a. A pod, a site or whatever and I want to run say FT8 or something. So I get what you mean. And yeah, it's just the way it is now. There's ways around that though. People are saving profiles and stuff like that now and at least in FT8, probably not JSA, but so you can easily navigate over or Like CAM for hdk, he likes to use flrig, so. So that makes it. So it's a little simple, at least for him.
Speaker A: Yeah, I might use one of those. Start out with FT8 and then switch over to JS8 and you know, once I had FT8 running on a 7100, then I see I could, I could reciprocate this not just for the 7100, I could do it for the 7300 and I had it working at one time and the, you know, I could probably get that going again. But I thought, well, I spent all this money on this, I should make it work. You know, in fact, it might already work. So. Yeah, but I tried to make it work for jsa, which wasn't already on. And see, that's the problem. I think I could make it run with FT8 as it is. It should be up and running.
Speaker B: Yeah, well, it's something to try. Yeah. I mean, if you already have that program on and it's all configured and all you got to do is just click on, you know, WSJTX or something, I don't know. But nowadays the WSJTX software has been upgraded too. I think I'm even using the one back of the most current version. I'm using the WSJTX improved and I think they actually have one more ahead of it now, so I'd have to upgrade. Reluctant to do so because I'm kind of used to the way it is now. And I don't think the new upgrade is much different. Improved some things I don't remember what. Probably something in the user interface.
Speaker A: Yeah, I think it could be the same committee that wrote the JS8 improved version. They started this committee of writers because, you know, most likely Ashar didn't want to rewrite it and the guy that wrote JS8 is nowhere to be found. And I don't know what's going on with FDA, the writers of FT8. I don't know whether they're around or not. But yeah, it is interesting that FT8 improved is out there and JS8 improved is also out there.
Speaker B: Yeah, that's kind of night and day too, in terms of operation. I mean, really the only thing that JSH going for it right now is the whole, you know, the whole storing forward, basically, because even the relay stuff, I mean, if a person isn't there, you know, it's pretty tough. I mean, yeah, you can relay messages. So relay messages and store and forward type messages. That's the main benefit right now of JS8, I think.
Speaker A: Yeah. And I've got communications via relays through Australia. I've told you about this before through Australia to the UK and other places. And you know, I like the relay function. I have stations in, in Fairbanks and if they're, if I'm not able to hear other Alaska stations and they can, then I can relay to those other Alaska stations. So pretty cool. But right now seems like all the Alaska guys are out traveling and getting away from the snow and traveling except for one. He's a pastor up there. And sometimes I can communicate with him and it bugs me that JSA is not working because I can't communicate with him right now. But I'll get it.
Speaker B: Yeah, I can always pass in the message for you if that's the only mode you've got. All right, I've arrived. So I need to say 7, 3. I'll listen to your final K and 6 MGK.
Speaker A: Yeah, if you're, if your station was running I could put a message in your mailbox. But of course that's the thing. Whoever like, like you said you were trying to put a message in for me. That, you know, if you were going to be the guy that he took the message out of your mailbox, your station would have to be on all the time. That's all I'm saying. So you were looking for one that was on all the time so you could put a message on there for me. The same goes for that guy. And it has to be a station that's capable of picking up Fairbanks too. That's another thing. And Fairbanks is sometimes 40, but we ended up doing most of everything on 20. Anyway. Sounds like you're getting close to someplace. Dan 6 GRG.
Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. Well, I'm just saying. Yeah. If you needed to get a message over to him, let me know. I would have to just look, do the same thing like I was doing for you. Yeah. I have to know his call sign and I have to look around where I think he can get into from Alaska or something or maybe, you know, a station already and then I'll leave it in that box for him. Yeah. So it can be done. That's actually good practice. I'll Talk at you later. 73kn6MGK.

I'm great. Thanks for asking. And I was just looking at the calendar. Does the group.
Okay. Kind of like spot time. I think it would be a good day for, like, young people come up with their.
Okay. Thinking about how we.
Robin and the rest of the. I'm doing well, thank you. And yeah, you know, springtime push, it seems like with some things up in paradise, the tree, one of my trees is already putting buds out the peach tree. But down here in Chico, it is cold and foggy. So winter weather wise, looks like it's returned here kind of sort of. But yeah, hopefully for winter field day we'll be a little better down here because I intend on going over to Black Butte Lake, which is also a PODA site. And the Glen Amateur Radio Society is doing their winter field day event there. And they do one typically every year, but not every club does. So this is a winter field day versus summer field day. Most every club does a summer field day. And you know, the one thing that I see most clubs not doing and they should be doing, Ann was mentioning advertising is getting it on the ARRL website. You put an announcement on there. And so some people who might be interested in coming to your event will attend just based on the fact that they can look it up on the arrl. One year we had this gentleman by the name of Sven come up from the Bay Area with his like sprinter van and he parked it over in our winter field day location and it was a blast. He was doing PSK31 and using the screwdriver antenna, he rotated the seats around and the weather was kind of cold and stuff. It was kind of nice to be able to go in that little cubby and enjoy them for a little bit and see what he was doing. So that's part of the fun for me on winter field days. You know, it is way of practicing your field like a field exercise. So not really meant to be using fancy antennas and all this. It's meant to try put up, you know, whatever you can. In fact, if you read the rules, you have a certain amount of time where you're supposed to set up and the event will last a certain length of time and a certain way that you put out your. Put up your logs after you're all done so that everyone gets credit for it. So it's kind of a contest and kind of a field exercise. So I enjoy that a lot. And we generally network together computers and do software and so forth that we try to combine. So kind of fun and try to run through three or four transmitters. So really important on the field day event to use bandpass filters. So one thing the club might consider is owning a few of those to hand out so you can run more than one transmitter on a field day exercise anyway. Thanks to the guys who made that trek. Wished I could have gone, sort of. But now that I heard it was nine miles up the grade. Probably not really my favorite thing to do right now. But I would have enjoyed the chocolate, that's for sure. And I guess that's all I got. Hopefully we'll see some people either at Field Day or Winter Field Day or maybe Friday if I can make it up. We'll see. Thank you for doing net. And I'll possibly talk to Jay about maybe helping for next week or the coming weeks as well. This is KN6MGK. Back to net control. Thank you. Oh, goody. Yes. Finally timed it out. That's nice. Yeah. You know, gears to change the. Change the repeater so that I could talk. I think they moved it up to 10 minutes. That's what they did. I think they moved it to 10 minutes. I didn't seem to time it out after that, but I think I still could. Anyway. Anyway. Funny thing is my radio doesn't ever time out anyway, but maybe I'll try to be just a little bit better at that. Good luck. KN600K. Thank you.
Is it K06? Not K06. And I mean, it came in real strong. So, thinking you're. Are you on the paradise repeater? I know there's another one. I get interference from Mount Shasta. Just checking if you're on the paradise repeater. Okay. It's a ko6, right? K06 lwe. Is that correct? Yeah, I figured I'm having a little fun with you, and I. But I love you, though. Anyway, figured. So I'm glad to have met your acquaintance on the air named here, Steve, anyway, and, yeah, more than welcome. Thank you for being on the Net today. That's awesome. Anyway, yeah, yeah, I'm guessing you're also running a bow thing, huh? Bofang type radio. Is that correct? Yeah. Okay, Radtail. All right, well, it's got good audio, and you've got good. A good. What do you call it? Like a good deviation, I think is the right word to use where I can hear your sound. Very good. Maybe a little white noise in there. So, thinking, are you located in paradise or thereabouts? Nice. Okay, well, that's great. Yeah, there's also. Well, of course, I don't know if you're using the Magaly repeater or the paradise repeater, by the way it sounds. So what frequency are you on? Are you on 670. Oh, okay. Well, that might explain. How about when you're listening right now? What does the frequency say right now? Because if you're on 770, it explains why I'm hearing a little bit of noise in the background. But anyway, because we have two repeaters. We have the one in McGill and we have the one in Paradise. Back to you. Okay. Yeah. Well, you might want to try listening on 146670 and see if that's any better. 146670. Yes, that is correct. Yeah, that is the paradise repeater. And are you hearing it really clear, a nice audio, or are you hearing quite a bit of, like, scratch or something noise with it? Okay, well, anyway. Anyway, the only other thing I could say, if it's your first time, is you do have a roger beef, if you know what that is. Like when you. When you unkey, you hear, like, another tone. And I don't know. I mean, you can do whatever you like, but most people don't run that roger beep tone. Okay, well, on that transmission, it didn't go through, so maybe you moved a little bit or whatever. When you're operating a handheld, a lot of times that antenna makes a big difference when you're moving around and so forth. So I wasn't able to understand that last transmission. Transmission very well. Yeah, well, that's up to you, but I don't know if you have any time on Fridays, but there's a good little group of guys that start showing up about 9:45 in the morning, but really about 10 at the Starbucks in Paradise. And I'm sure they'd love to see you, you and even help you with anything or answer any questions you might have as well.
Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. And some of us. I don't usually do it maybe once a month to try to hit breakfast to across the street at Cozy Diner beforehand. But that tends to only be one or two people on a Friday. But they do have. I know the Pars group does have a monthly breakfast get together at Coach Diner. But they just had it though. So anyway, the other thing is I would encourage you, since you're up in Magalia, I'm thinking you must live there. Is that Magalia Community Church be a great place to go on Saturday and see Jay maybe and maybe another person or two, maybe his brother or something. They'll probably be operating there most. I would say probably not early, early morning, but I bet you mid morning or so and for definitely a few hours if it's not like freezing cold or really windy or something like that. Winter field day. It'd be great to see them operate. Really. They operate some good HF equipment and stuff like that. If you like radio. I
Speaker B: enjoy hanging out with those guys. Yeah, 100%,
Speaker A: you got that right. That is correct. And there's a big white tent outside. But I don't know if they'll be operating in that or not. I think they probably would want to if the weather is good. But I have seen them open the little doors to the fellowship hall which is off to the north. And I've seen them operate inside there because it's got some shelter and then they run their coax outside the doors. So anyway, I had fun one year doing that with. And it was snowing outside and we had a blast. I got my little antenna, little quarter wave antennas. I was sitting there talking to Africa on it. I got one contact from Africa on that and it was just so much fun. I enjoy. But I enjoy radio, you know. It's kind of one of them things for me that I can play around on the radio and talk too much, as these guys say. I timed out the repeater so
Speaker B: sometimes I don't know when to stop. Alrighty. Well, Anyway,
Speaker A: this is KN6MGK. I'm located in Chico. I think I'll bid you a farewell for now, 7:3. And it's nice to meet your acquaintance on the air. I hope to hear you again. And so I'll sign off and listen to your final kn6mgk.
Speaker A: This is KK6VZD, Chris, net control operator for tonight's net. Can someone out there give me a signal check, please?
Speaker B: WPZ A, X N repeater.
Speaker A: Okay, I said udf. I was hoping for the same. Chris? Chris. All right, there was a double. So can somebody give me. Yeah, I'm not sure how to. How to tell you which one to. To wait. Which one to receive that. Ko6bzy. Thank you. Paul, how's my signal?
Speaker B: Sounds good.
Speaker A: Thank you. This is kk6zzd monitoring until the net starts in about 3 minutes. Kk6zzd, kk6vzd, ki6udf. I was hoping for the same thing. Nice signal there, john. Thank you. Just wanted to be sure. Ki 60 vds monitoring. Ko 6 vgy monitoring.
Yeah. One thing that you and I all. Yeah, 370. That's cool. Yeah. You're making out that repeater from where you are. How are things going?
Yeah, yeah, I get it. Things are taking me a lot longer than I think too, you know, not getting as much sleep as I probably ought to have. But anyway, hoping the weather holds out and is way better for winter Field day this year. Black Butte Lake is where some of the folks I know are going, but I think it's going to be missing quite a few people from previous years. And of course, you know how last year's Winterfield Day went for it. Not so well.
Yeah, well, actually you kind of broke up pretty good. I didn't hear most of that. Something about Winterfield Day. I don't recall them doing a winter field day before. It's been a while though. Maybe a few people do things from their homes and such, but I don't know. Yeah, if there's a new leadership, maybe they'll do something. Seems like it's going to be better weather than last year, so surely, surely the people will have more fun if it is. So anyway, yeah, that's all I got. It's nice to hear your voice out there. We're having lots of fun with meshtastic and putting all around and the community around paradise and Magalia. Over the last few months we've been banging our heads against the wall, but ultimately we are in progress.
Speaker A: Calling all amateur radio operators. This is KK6VZV Chris in Yuba City. Net control for tonight's net. The following net is held every Monday evening at 1900 hours local time on the WD6AXM repeater by the Yuba Sutter Amateur Radio Club. The purpose of this net is to distribute COD related information, promote interesting amateur radio and promote effective net operating procedures. All hams are welcome to join us. CTCSS tone for this repeater is 127.3Hz with a positive offset. This is a directed formal net, so please direct all traffic to KK6VZ, your net control station for tonight's net. Any stations with emergency or priority traffic, please identify now. Radio amateurs, both club members and guests will be invited to check in. But first I will take check ins from our club officers and board members, followed by those wishing to make announcements. And our first person that we're looking for is our president, K6KDS. Carla.
Speaker B: Yes, Chris, this is K6KDS Carla in Yuba City. I just wanted to remind everyone about our club meeting tomorrow night at 7. We hope to see you there. Back to Net control.
Speaker A: Thank you, Carla. And since I'm thinking about it tomorrow I will be giving a presentation on the ARRL training website. They've got a lot of online courses that you can take and we're going to investigate it together tomorrow. Hope to see you there. How about our Vice President, Bud? KK1, Bud,
Speaker C: Kilo, Kilo 1, Bravo, Uniform Delta. Good evening, Chris and Annette.
Speaker A: This is Bud and Sutter.
Speaker C: I too am looking forward to seeing everybody at the board at the.
Speaker A: Excuse me.
Speaker C: At the club meeting tomorrow night. And also at this time I'd like to announce that I am taking volunteers looking for volunteers to help out with the Buckeye Parade in Marysville on Saturday, March 21. Right now I have six volunteers and could use two or three more. It's a good opportunity for maybe some of the newer techs to get involved.
Speaker A: Pretty easy gig.
Speaker C: All you have to do is just have a reliable HG and have your license and we can get you involved at a fairly low level. Requires four hours of your time, eight to 12 on a Saturday morning. And we provide communications and logistical support for the. For the Buckeye Parade. And then we get together afterwards for a little lunch and get together. So anyway, looking for volunteers, if you think you'd like to help out, just can contact me at the ak1vud yahoo.com or you can call or text me at 530-933-9586 and that's all I have. Chris, back to net control.
Speaker D: All right, Bud.
Speaker A: It's probably too early to ask. Do you have any idea what the weather is going to be?
Speaker C: Well, we just know it never rains on Buckeye, so that's. That's as close as I can get.
Speaker A: Thank you, Bud. Appreciate that. How about our club secretary Linda KK6SO.
Speaker B: Good evening Chris and Lynn. This is KK6SO Linda in Foggy Yuba City. Yes, echoing what everyone else said. It is a club meeting with tomorrow night and as I understand there will be a drawing. So bring your dollars and come and bid on stuff back to Ned.
Speaker A: Thank you, Linda. Looking for Club Treasure June N6J E yeah. Board member Joe N9DD. Board member devin n 0 db. Board member Leonard Ko6DVV this is Leonard Ko6DVV in Browns Valley. You were doubled by somebody when you called for for Joe. Okay, well, thank you. Then I'll call for Joe again. Got a doubt that he's going to answer because I think he's teaching with Curtis tonight. But board member Joe N90. How about board member joe ak6jn? That's joe ak6jn again. It sounded like somebody doubled with you again. Wpaxn receiver. Maybe somebody out there doesn't like the sound of my voice, but I got you checked in. Thank you, joe. How about paul w6pnh. Roy board member emeritus kj6dkm. Peter trustee dave wd6axm, Bellingham news editor curtis ks6vsp. Cam news editor marcia ki6csm. Aries emergency coordinator neil n6cny, Rrl section manager j&6sac. Are there any others who would like to list bulletins or announcements for tonight's nets? Please identify now.
Speaker D: Hello, K,
Speaker A: Doug Katie 6 hello K. Go right ahead.
Speaker D: Thank you, Chris. This is directed mainly at the folks that do pota. But about a year ago or so, I heard a rumor that if a person has a library card, you can get a free pass to state parks. Well, I don't know. 3 o' clock this morning or whatever. I thought I'd look it up on the Internet and sure enough, so Doug signed up for a library card online. I'm now a library card owner. Probably never had one in my life. I did have trouble getting the state parks passed. So tomorrow I'll probably head to my local library and see if I can get a state parks pass that will allow me to go in free if I want to do PODA or anything else.
Speaker A: In there.
Speaker D: So think about it, look it up, do it. If you're interested in going to the state parks free. Thanks Chris 73 all KD6 Lok
Speaker A: that's a nice bit of information to have and if I remember correctly, you are correct. Yeah. So that's be a nice way to save a few dollars if you want to do poda. So yes, definitely head to your library if you're planning on doing that and sign out a state park pass. Thank you, Doug. This is Net Control KK6VZD proceeding to the check in portion of the net. Everyone will have an opportunity to check in but I will first be calling from the current list of club members followed by a call for any guests. All participants please remember to check in with your full call sign, name and location. If you don't hear your call sign and think it is absent from the member list, please check in during our call for guests and contact KK6SOZ WINDA, our close secretary and our first candidate is AJ K6AJH. I think we're working on different things. There's a lot to it in that regard. But yeah, you know, I think you should go who view to study a little bit about meshtastic core and the differences and so on. You know, you can't just say that something is more robust than something else. That doesn't describe anything. So it's different. And surely there's advantages. I'm sure advantages as well. I don't know. But there may just be a little bit of a different animal. I could. If you are a operator, there's definitely some ideals of mesh core that seem like you would want to have that over meshtastic. But the ability to direct it down a certain path would be a very good thing potentially. But what happens when you lose? That's what I've read on mesh core. You know, that node drops out and believe me, that can happen easily. I think they would serve different things. And I can't really describe it much. I'm still learning it myself. But you being on a digital packet and everything, you think it'd be right up your alley. I mean, we are getting some pretty good transmissions out there, megahertz, you know, some of these, like I got one from Highway 70 to El Dorado direct, so that's probably 6 MGK.
Well, Mike, you kind of lost your it was pretty unintelligible that time. Couldn't really understand you, unfortunately, because I'd like to talk to you some more, but. And after you leave, my wife's kind of calling me over here to grab a So I better let you go and maybe I'll catch it down the log, maybe even on another repeater. I'll jump over to the 0851 of these times and see if you're around. So. Pleasure. Hope to hear you again soon, but I'll have to say three kilo November 6th mike golf kilo.

Breaking up a lot Claire, so I'm not exactly sure all you said it's. I know that I got challenged a bit coming home from Lincoln the other night from my daughter's house with a fog unfortunately I cleared up by wheat one. Yeah, my signal. I'm sure as I get farther away from the Song Tower, seems to work a little better. That is better. Okay, well, if you can make it, we've got a code meeting to my right. So it does rather well. And I hope that Phil is able to do the HF1 work that he's looking to do from the same location. Kilo, kilo6, foxtrot, November, Yankee, Courtney and Willows, Kilo bike 6, victor, foxtrot, foxtrot, hank and elk creek, Kivo, november 6, sierra, juliet, juliet, dennis and corning, Kilo, November 6th, whiskey, Sierra, November, Logan and Willows. Do we have any guest check ins tonight for the gar's Monday night? Net net control is kf6ob. Okay, that's great so far. So let's start a little bit of roundtable here. I guess Bill has something he'd like to say and then I have a statement what I'm working on lately. So Bill, how's everything going for you and what do you have for us at kce6ufe?
Speaker C: Kce6ufe? Good evening to the group and first of all, I'm going to attempt Winter Field Day from the home QTH this year again. So nothing new there. And today the HF bands got hit by a coronal Mass ejection from the X class flare of a day or so ago that was pointed right at us and pretty much shut the bands down. Muted everything pretty good. And the one big thing that I noticed, other than the fact there was a lot less traffic, was that you could really hear the warble and chatter on the signals coming over the poles. That was sounded like, I described it as somebody trying to grind rocks in their blender. So it was interesting. But it's starting to fade out and quiet down right about now and should go away by tomorrow. So back to net. KC6UFE.
Speaker A: Thank you Bill for reporting your observations on the HF bands today. Hopefully yes, that things will come back to normal, well, fairly normal. So I really appreciate that. Are there any others that have anything that they'd like to impart upon us tonight? Please come now.
Speaker B: KC6UIS Bill Electric, thank you for that report. I wasn't aware that that happened. I wasn't on the air to experience the problem. But it's nice to know about what was going on. So thank you again. KC6UIS baconet.
Speaker A: Thank you Bob. So latest goings on here at the QTH is I've been working on the off center fit dipole rebuild. I've got one more mass to put up and then I strung out today the in fit half width wave antenna element that I destroyed here a couple of years ago, maybe it was back last April and I rebuilt that, repaired it, stretched it out. I also stretched out alongside it or just underneath it a brand new element and there's quite a length difference between the two. So supposedly it's the replacement element for the one I destroyed. The new one is much shorter so I've got a lot of testing to do. Anyway, that's what's going on here. So we have anybody that has any comments or suggestions before we close the net, please come now. AK6JN. Yes Joe.
Speaker B: Yeah, I just wanted to mention that I put together a new radial system for a JPT.
Speaker A: Excuse me.
Speaker B: JPC 12 vertical. The radios that came with it were kind of flimsy. I got some 18 gauge tin copper stranded tin copper wire, vinyl coating, 20 foot long lengths. 12 of them put it on the pole or the JPC 12 and managed to make some contacts in Southern California, Arizona, Nevada and Texas. So not bad for just a little vertical antenna.
Speaker A: That's really awesome Joe. That's great. So is this a portable antenna that you might bring to Winter Field Day? That's affirmative.
Speaker B: That's what I was testing it for. Now Unfortunately, I don't know if you remember or not, but I will be doing Winterfield Day with the BART Club
Speaker A: this year, so I'll be going down to Woodland. Fine business, Joe. Fine business. Well, you enjoy yourself down there this coming weekend and give us a report back on the 26th.
Speaker B: I was actually wondering if maybe I'll run across some of you guys, make
Speaker A: contact with you while I'm out there.
Speaker B: Keep an ear out.
Speaker A: Well, we will certainly be listening and I know you'll be listening for us. Okay. Last call for any late members or guests wishing to check into the GAR's Monday night net. Please come now. Kilo six golf alpha bravo. Kilo six golf alpha bravo.
Speaker C: Hey, good evening. This is Greg and Chico looking for a late check in. No traffic for the nap this evening. Just wanted to jump in and say hello.
Speaker A: Thank you, Greg, for checking in this evening. And you are Q5 to the repeater. Any other late members or guests, please come now. Hearing none, this concludes the gar's Monday night net. Speaker A: 41 degrees 4:1 light fog, Chico, California. And it's gonna be a great morning, I bet you. Good morning all you two meter aficionados. This is KN6MGK.
Speaker B: Hey, can you hold it down? There's people trying to sleep.
Speaker C: Not no more. It's after 7, man. I waited that long. Well, it's good to hear we got life out here.
Speaker B: I'm emptying out the back of the truck. It looks like Home Depot is going to be the next one you hear leaving California and next to Starbucks and Target. Oh yeah. Yep. I'm emptying out the back of the truck so I can fill it up with closing store
Speaker C: stuff. That's
Speaker B: all right. You know, you know, you know what it's time to do. You have to keep. You have to keep jumping ship here, Jay. If you got an extra 20 or 30 thousand dollars hanging around, I would invest in. In Dutch, bro. Probably going to be off the chart buying old Starbucks buildings.
Speaker A: Yeah, I've noticed on my Windows 10 stuff, you know, it's not like when they did the last. Microsoft did it the last time they did that, when everyone liked a particular operating system and then they phased it out like this, you know, they were putting up notes all the time, you know, leading up to and after. I mean every time you, you know, turn on your computer, it was just glaring. You're out of service, you know. But the Windows 10 stuff doesn't seem to be doing that.
Speaker B: Yeah, I got out of the whole computer thing, what, a couple of years ago. Yeah, too many blue screens over the years for me.
Speaker A: Everything runs on computers so you couldn't get out of it. There's no way. All the vehicles. I bet you your truck has 20 of them on it.
Speaker B: Oh yeah, well I, you know what I'm talking about? I'm talking about home computers. Oh yeah, I got two tablets at night here. I only use one primarily, but only because I can't throw the older one away. Still works and does everything perfectly. Go Apple.
Speaker A: Yeah, that's a computer. So that's what I'm saying.
Speaker B: I don't care. It ain't a home computer like the one that I had no, one trouble after another. Just what you guys are talking about, all the spyware and the, and the hackers and you name it.
Speaker A: Yeah, well, if you have a Mac like that tablet you're talking about, you're not going to have the problems of a PC user. Not typically because, you know, not too many hackers mess around with Apple. It's too hard. Same with Linux. It's a Unix fakes system. So yeah, you can still get hard drive crashes and stuff like that, but you can get that on a tablet too.
Speaker B: I haven't seen it yet. Yep, I've seen reoccurring kaka there. That's, that's why I don't have a big home computer, because I had some good ones there. Even put together a couple of my own. That's part of my decline into the whole electronics thing. Yeah, that's how they're empty in target stores right now. People are just coming in and loading a card up with electronics and they're, they're hitting stores with 20 and 30 people stealing in groups. And a good part of them, even though with enhanced security they just can't stop them all and they can't prosecute the ones they do catch. Yeah, money's running out the backside.
Speaker A: Well, if there's one company I cannot shed a single tear for, it's Target. They have been one of the most woke companies I've ever seen in a long, long time. And they wouldn't permit Salvation army bell ringers. They wouldn't say Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, that special rainbow merch. I haven't been going there for years and years and years. I mean I wouldn't go there in a pinch. So people down talk Walmart all the time unfortunately. But Walmart was and is with an American company. With American, you know, real people that were running that at one point in time, sure they've gone awry a little bit, but nothing like Target. And so yeah, I wouldn't care if they closed every damn Target. And this is KN6MGK.
Speaker B: Jay staying out of all this. Well, Target ain't going anywhere. They're just, they're just getting out of California. Yeah, same with Starbucks and Google. Silicon Valley. We can go on and on and on at this point. Really? You really can. You could recite names for well over 10 minutes. They're going to sell California to China which is the equivalent to it falling off into the ocean. Hello.
Speaker A: Yeah. Yep. Well, Target is a place that, let's see, I'm gonna have to give it 10 years ago. It may be longer. But where, like when we had real, real Black Friday deals. They had some decent deals then, but that was probably 10 years ago or more. I'm sitting here looking up an article that came out two weeks ago talking about Target expand, expanding in all these states. And there's two listed in California. So it says they're going to open new stores in Bakersfield and Paris. P E R R I S, wherever that is. Don't know. So if they're pulling out of California, then why are they opening new stores in California?
Speaker B: Because they're just relocating in areas that had. Still have, they're still actually showing a profit. Yeah, that's what I watched this morning. Elizabeth something. I don't remember her last name, but that is one of the best podcasts you could listen to. Not, not to introduce a new topic. But they're seeing crime going up with the transgender group because they're jumping on board because they've always been the minority when it comes to the population on the nasty sexual habits and the sex changing stuff. That was in the news this morning too. And the, the charts are showing that's been on a steady rise. They're just jumping on the bandwagon. Transgenders because there's such a small movement by themselves. But you add the pile on factor of everybody else that's complaining. Look at Minnesota's opening their arms to transgender, though. Oh, yeah, because they're losing their Somali people left and right. Watch welfare and EBT and all that. Well, it's the same thing. You watch how that rises in the surrounding states to Minnesota. Trump's gonna have to get pretty damn busy with bringing the military in in order to stop the crime. And here on the better news. The better news is, yeah, it looks like Mr. Clinton is gonna escape some prosecution because he was the president. But Hillary, her ass is hanging out of the the wagon on that one because guess what, she lost to Trump. She ain't gonna get no presidential immunity. And they're both, they're both going to jail here shortly, within the next two weeks, maybe three weeks, something like that. But I just watched a great thing there on that this morning from a lawyer. I'm ashamed to say I don't remember his name, but he has a great podcast and he explained the whole Clinton and Comey and all that stuff right there. They, they didn't show up for their congressional hearings there. They were subpoenaed and well, the next step is jail for their. But you, you wait and see how fast that happens. So we're starting. Enough time has gone by, we're starting to see the, the, the poop hitting the fan. No way around it.
Speaker A: Yeah. So you know, Bill Clinton, you know, I think he's not too far from meeting his demise one way or the other anyway, so with him and yeah, he was president, so a certain immunity scheme that they seem to get. But yeah, Hillary, I can see how she could be hung out to dry. And she's the wicked witch of the west anyway, so she's the one who's really, really evil in my mind. So. But whatever, we'll see what happens. I'll believe that when I see it. By the way. And going back to Starbucks, I mean the latest thing I see least on the Internet is I could look through some more articles, but closing like 30 locations in California, 32 locations or something. And they're saying from, you know, San Francisco, Danville, San Ramon. Well, anyway, with Starbucks, I mean, they put them little Starbucks stores in all over, like sometimes in the Save Mart here in Chico and they'll have so many locations in an area they just pepper to death. So I could see them closing them. I don't see how that's like leaving all of California. I think they've got like 8,000, 18,000 locations or something. So I don't know to say that they're leaving California when they're only closing 30 of them anyway. But like I say that, you know, the interesting thing about that CEO, my wife, I think she has his book one books or something that he wrote. He's kind of a moderate kind of a guy, but yet he's still a leftist, you know, So I don't know, I do patronize them a little. Not the right word. Anyway, I go to their, to their stores occasionally and so forth, especially when the guys want to meet there or something. And I support, especially in paradise, the local place there where people work and you know, there doesn't seem to be any other coffee shops. There was some before the fire, but nobody wanted to come back. Hardly nothing. That was a nice hangout spot. So nevertheless, I do want to support the local, the local business if I can kn6mgk.
They're all going to be doing better if Starbucks closed. Now listen, most, most of the Starbucks news, and it's way more than the numbers because I. This is 14 hours ago released. Write, write it down, Jay, because this is someone you'll want to go watch. It's titled they Defend defied Congress. That's 14 hours ago, that release. And it's with Ron Chapman. Ron Chapman, he is an attorney and he's been all over this stuff for about the last five years. Some of the best information when it comes to political law. Fantastic. He doesn't leave nothing out. He's been all over this stuff. I've been watching him for about eight, nine, maybe, maybe a year. But Northern California is not going to be as affected. We're talking from Sacramento south. And even though I did see they were gonna, they were gonna leave or. Home Depot in Sacramento, just the business, just Northern California is the least affected because we don't have the homeless out there living off, stealing from stores. So. And the Mexicans too, by the way, because they're losing their funds and everybody else is doing it. So it's, they're piling on and, and, and news comes. Rubbing his hands together. You can see the horns starting to grow out of his brittle creamed hairdo. Not that it hasn't been happening for a long time, but yeah, he, he's liking, just. I don't know who's paying him. Probably the Clintons. I'm just kidding. But it, but it is a possibility. A lot of the rhetoric that you see happening in the news, the Minnesota soda style, the New York City style, all these states here wanting to govern, it's, it's up for grabs. The power, the greedy. Yeah, I'm pretty sure the, the Clintons are in on that. And, and I'm, and I'm not saying that they're, that they're doing this stuff because they want to control. What they're trying to do is shift the narrative. They're trying to make so much big news that going after them becomes old news. Okay. And that's how the media, that's how they've been using the media to, to escape. No accountability. But, but America is a little smarter than that. Although this next, the generation I'm not so sure of. There's two teachers on both ends of the United States claiming these are the absolute stupidest kids they've ever seen. And you know, it's true. The test scores and, and stuff and the evaluations of the schools and stuff. You, I'll bet you any money somewhere down the road you're going to go back and see that Biden's. Not Biden's but Obama's free lunches. That food was tainted. Oh yeah, this next generation man. There's no hope for it no matter what Trump gets done. And all I can say is Jay is you and me are sitting pretty good. It's a good time to be getting old because eventually we'll go to where we're supposed to be living and the earth is not our home. It was never designed to be that way. Heaven is home. Yeah Steve, well anyway I'll be praying for you. Any help I could send your way from above if that's even possible. And I'm pretty sure it is too prayer. But man, looks like you're gonna be here a little longer than me and Jay. It's not a laughing matter but I can't help but giggle about it because it's just my outlook.
Speaker A: I didn't know. I thought I met your only sibling. Yeah. Oh, see, that's
Speaker B: the part I didn't know. I didn't know you had any grandkids, and I. So I thought that this morning's news was that Jennifer was going to have kids.
Yeah, from this point on, that sounds like some in person communication. Which brings up my next question. You were talking about trying this bagel place, but I think I'd like to try that blue lagoon for. For. For breakfast, if you're up to it.
Hell I'm ready this morning. So if you get a wild hare. Yeah, I know. Steven's never tried that. Of course, he doesn't venture way up here. Between that and the price of breakfast, probably more than he wants to attempt.

Yeah, maybe I better. Maybe I better make a note here to write a. A letter to Newscomb. Reminded him that Stephen owns property.
Well, I was over there making some coffee for the wife and stuff, so I missed out on some of that. But, heck, we've been banging our heads on the wall for a few months now, huh? A couple months. I'd have to look back myself. I'm a little concerned about that new note that was put out yesterday because it's moving up the list of usage, so I'm wondering if that battery's going to hold out.
Speaker A: Yeah. Oh, I don't know. Within about 30ft probably. Yeah, yeah. I don't know. But anyway, yeah, if that thing holds up, you know, I'm thinking maybe even John would want to get a node to be included into that mesh there so that for off grid communications might be a good thing to fall back on. But yeah, if that one's gone, it seems like it's not going to connect in with all the other things. I mean, I was looking at it on Net View earlier and it was putting lines everywhere. It was amazing what it was doing.
Speaker B: I'm not sure how it applies to me. I was going to rely on Starlink, except for I'm having second thoughts now. The price increases and the gigabytes applied right on the edge of sending back this Starlink mini. I don't know. You're not going to get TV over that mesh.
Speaker A: Yeah, well, we're not talking about EMP or whatever because that would be a catastrophic scenario for all electronics for sure. But they aren't like, they shut like Iran. Just a good use case. I could send you videos of what they're doing, but they're shutting down all of that Starlink stuff. And these little private mesh nodes are a little tougher. So anyway. But nevertheless, I mean like all the Internet stuff and all that tv, I mean, who watches TV anymore, really? A lot of propaganda out there. So. But people are using a lot of the Starlink type stuff, whatever, to watch live streaming and all that for sure. And I know other people that do it like 50 gigs, 5, 0 gigs or whatever. That ain't nothing by the way, not these days. So yeah, the ones up in Yankee Hill that we're running may all have the normal unlimited plan, but yeah, it's like 100 and some odd dollars a month. I mean, I don't think it's 150 yet, but might be 130 bucks a month.
Speaker B: Yep. 165 for unlimited roam, whether there's going to be a gigabyte thing. So they're giving you 50% off there. They're giving you a hundred gigs instead of 40. And yeah, you ain't gonna watch no movies even on 100 gigs. So I'm pretty sure this Elon's testing the waters. He's seeing who's gonna go with it and then who isn't. So it sure would have been nice. That means I can send back this projector. $2,000. Oh brother. But it was worth a. I needed to educate myself. So it is a hell of a nice TV and a movie watching device, but I can get. I can get something.
Speaker A: I.
Speaker B: We have. We have the damn. Oh, I had two names come to my brain there. We got our own little server there, Jay. So there's enough movies on that puppy, at least on mine. I don't know about you if you didn't get anything from Trevor, but,
Speaker A: yeah,
Speaker B: I could always take that four bay deal with me and still be able to watch movies and stuff. But Trevor got a nice 4k projector for under 300 bucks, or around 300 bucks, so he's pretty happy with that one. That would be worth the investment as far as RVing across the country, because we're getting pretty close. Yeah. Is that a digital antenna? Aw, Jay, heck, that news is worth buying your breakfast for.
Speaker A: Kk6vzd mobile.
Speaker B: Kk6vct mobile N69Wh.
Speaker A: Over. Good morning.
Speaker B: Good morning.
Speaker A: Happy Tuesday morning to you.
Speaker B: Yeah, and how are you doing today? Is it like 38 days?
Speaker A: No, not quite so far down. It's 51 work days, I do believe.
Speaker B: 51. Do you have a calendar marking off the days with the big X? Yes, I do.
Speaker A: Yeah, I didn't make it anything special, but yes, I do.
Speaker B: Good. Kind of reminds me of prison. You know, the guys are in there and it's always the camera pans over. Here's the dirty cell. You know, they're looking pretty bad, but just a few days left and it's over.
Speaker A: Yeah, well, doesn't exactly feel like prison, but it also doesn't feel like work used to feel like.
Speaker B: Well, this is certainly going to be a. A different, you know, a different lifestyle for sure. Are you going to go on vacation or what?
Speaker A: Well, yeah, I'm planning on making a trip back to Illinois after I retire. That's where the rest of my, my family is.
Speaker B: Oh, not around Chicago then, huh?
Speaker A: Well, yeah, out in the suburbs west of Chicago. So, gee, I wonder if I'll make it in generally if I go back to visit, I try and get downtown at least once to see some of the things. It's an interaction. Interesting city.
Speaker B: Hey, do you ever see old school buddies or do you ever go to the reunions or anything like that?
Speaker A: Well, a couple years ago I finally went to the first reunion that I've ever been to, our 50th. And, well, there's reasons behind that. Generally, whenever the reunions came up, I was in a different area of the globe and couldn't make it.
Speaker B: Do you have any old buddies, any friends from back in the day? I used to keep in touch with this friend from high school, but, you know, the last time I saw him, I was so tired of him calling me faggot. I'm going, hey, hey, hey, we are grown men, you know.
Speaker A: W, E, Z, A X, N repeater. Yeah, I think, I think it would be time to end that. No, I don't really have any friends left from high school. When I left high school, I left, you know, most of the people that I went to high school with, they went on to college and onto their live scenario. I went directly into the Air Force and didn't, you know, so that, that kept me away from Illinois. So, no, there's a couple people that I know of from. I kind of, I got reacquainted with during the, during, during the reunion. So I'll send them a short little message here and there.
Speaker B: What about ham radio? Have you made any lifelong friends friends out here? I know I have a couple of them passed away already.
Speaker A: Not sure. I think it's a little early to tell. Definitely not anybody long distance? I don't know. You know, I'm really good friends with a couple of the club members. We don't really spend any time together except doing ham stuff, but we enjoy one another's company.
Speaker B: Yeah, that sounds good. You know, I have to say I've met some really nice people in ham radio, but I've also met the other kind, you know what I mean?
Speaker A: I do. Fortunately, I haven't met too many of them.
Speaker B: Well, I call the Creator God, and in my prayer I ask God to keep my life on an even keel, you know, and I really believe that he keeps the bad stuff away. I mean, I have trouble, you know, problems like everybody else, but so far, so good over. Yeah, I know what you mean.
Speaker A: I've had challenges here and there through my life, but I've never had anything bad happen to me. So I almost feel like I'm living a charmed life.
Speaker B: Uh oh, maybe you better quit now. No, I believe in that. You know, also, you know, my son lives in Oakland and he likes it. Everybody says, ah, there's crime, there's this and that. But he says, you know, I don't see it. I do stay home at night. I'm not out, you know, acting crazy or anything. But he doesn't see any crime. And I've known people who have made it through life without anything happening to them, like robbing, mugging, car wreck, anything. They just live a nice life and, you know, say goodbye in the. Yeah, I know what you mean. Yeah.
Speaker A: I'm not even sure I could tell you the worst thing that happened to me because not much has really happened to me. Being laid off. Well, gee, that was difficult, you know, when it happened, but in the overall scheme of things, it was, you know, just something that happened. Wow.
Speaker B: Well, hey, you know, good deal, you know, keep. Keep going forward. Right. I haven't had too much. Just a bad car wreck, you know, like waking up in the hospital and here's the doctor leaning over and I made a movie. Doctor was leaning over.
Speaker A: Do you remember what happened?
Speaker B: You were in a car wreck, right?
Speaker A: Yeah, funny. Nope, nope. I've had a car totaled on me, but neither me nor my wife was injured at all. Shaken up a bit, that's about it.
Speaker B: Well, you know, the other thing I believe, Chris. And just between you and me, some kind of intelligent force. The Catholics say guardian angel, but things happen to people. You know, there will be a terrible situation, and somehow the hand of God comes down and causes something, you know,
Speaker A: like somebody to see them, somebody to help them.
Speaker B: I believe that. You know, I've also known from hospital people, doctors and nurses, they all say they sense something. You know, when healing was going on, like somebody was bleeding and wouldn't stop. All of a sudden the room lit up and the bleeding stopped. Yes. Yes.
Speaker A: Well, I haven't had any of those experiences, but there are some other experiences I've had that, you know, I'm convinced, you know, that this is not the end of the road. This life on this earth is not the end of the road. But our conversation is, because I just popped into the. Into the drive at work and my parking spot, and I gotta get inside and find out what's going on. Short week. Yay. Great talking news this morning, and we'll catch you later.
Speaker B: 73 KK, 60 VZD.
Speaker A: Clear.
Speaker B: Okay, have a good day. Oh, hey, I should make a call. I got the radio going here. Ko6bgy. Ko6bgy. Hey, Paul, you out there? We'll stand by for Paul.
Speaker A: Oh, I thought, I thought that crank and the big knob
Speaker B: and all that stuff was to hold the tarp up so that it let the air conditioner breathe. I was just kidding. I knew you'd get
Speaker A: a giggle out of it, Jay. You know what? I'll extend. I'll go to just to put a smile on
Speaker B: somebody's face, even if it's temporary. Oh yeah.
Speaker A: I haven't read deep enough in the book, but I do have the paperwork out of the binder that was just not clipped in. You know, the stapled and, and clipped stuff. Yeah, I've been reading about it. Yeah, when I was away from home for a couple of days. Well, that's all good stuff. No, I'll look for the switch. And I, I thought I saw the crank, but I, I didn't see no switch for the amplifier. Heck, I might end up throwing something small in there. Really want to do the. I really want to do the projector thing because that gives me a. Almost, well, the full deal from the cabinet over to the curtain hanger over there. That's. That's almost 50 inches. I'd like to have a 50 inch TV, but anyway, I'll get a good look at it. I'm probably going to end up down there. I got to go get hay and, and I, I got three more circuits done at John's house. I'm ready to go to overhead lighting, new wires. I'm moving right along on getting
Speaker B: his place wired up. He already bought, he
Speaker A: already bought them. Same circle light, LEDs, hos. I don't know. He also has 10 foot neon or. I mean not neon, but fluorescence. But yeah, he's probably got 10 of those big circle lights like I got LEDs.
Speaker A: It's like you put J. Steven
Speaker B: to sleep. Jay Hos. I haven't heard that term. Okay, well, John,
Speaker A: ceiling isn't tall like mine. Mine were pretty damn good for, for three of them. In my space, he's got three bays and that. I'm not talking about garage doors. He's got 14. He's got a 12 foot door, and he has two, two car garage doors. And. Oh, let me see, the other roll up is about 10ft. So he's got three bays all bigger than. Well, two of them are bigger and one of them is about two thirds the size of the shop we got. So you can see how much wiring. I think I'm a little over 1,000ft in wire right now. And that's not even including the 210 foot drop out to the RV hookups.
I don't know if I'd do that to it. Yeah, but the, but the little. Well, you. Plus you're in the dirt, so. Traction on a remote controlled dealy. Bob, that, that would be a little reaching, but I could do it here with the entryway being cement and not very slanted, just enough to work the rain. Yeah, I don't. I don't move things in and out. And. And the. The Corvette's been up for sale for six weeks at least. Not a single person interested. So anyway. And the Fiat's already registered in Idaho just for the savings. Yeah, I'm. I may do the 38 Chevy Idaho. I could get away with it here because I don't drive it enough for the cops to say, hey, that guy don't live in Idaho.
Speaker A: Be nice. Even if you're out on the country and open road and all that stuff. If you're backing up onto something to level the trailer or whatever, you could do it right there where you put them in place. And you think that things got enough strength to get it up on one or two
Speaker B: of those little plates. All right, thanks. All
Speaker A: right, Steven. Had enough time to get coffee. I'm gonna take a standby since I've been hogging it. No breakfast for you this morning Off.
Speaker A: Garage?
Speaker B: It looks like it. I thought I had something else happen today. I wanted to go get those two towers at the airport, but I'm waiting for a comeback. I went down yesterday and looked for the second one and didn't find it. So I want to get them both at the same
Speaker A: time. Yeah, you
Speaker B: do. I walked that other one off that's down there. It needs to get a little bit cut off of the bottom. The wind. The wind bent it slightly at the bottom, so not a big deal. Otherwise the galvanized looks good and it's 33ft.
Speaker A: All right, I'll be back
Speaker B: shortly. Maybe 8:30 or something like that. On 9 o'. Clock. Whatever you decide.
Speaker A: At the Blue Lagoon. All right, let's call at 8:30. I'll be back in 6, 10. Shut up, Steven.
Speaker C: I always
Speaker A: say
Speaker C: just enough to get everyone riled up and poke the bear. That's what we do. Yep. Yeah, I'm making my
Speaker A: breakfast right now. Then I'll head over to Panera
Speaker C: in about an hour. Kick back there for an hour or so, see what happens. Then we'll come back over here and work around here, I guess. Then I'm thinking tomorrow I'll be up in paradise.
How come did Ann sound so good a few weeks ago on on the Net and now this week and last week she wants to go back to something that sounds really. Good. Yeah, she was talking about, you know, field day. And I almost think that they, a couple of them, her and maybe Robin were getting confused that this is winter field day. So anyway, but wanting to publicize it or something. Is there some way they can publicize it to get people to the, to the event or whatever? But. But we know that winter field day is nothing compared to summer Field day. Yeah, yeah, but there was a. I don't know if you stayed on and listened to that new station that was on and he was on HT. He kept saying he was listening to 1-467-70 anyway, having a hard time trusting that because he was also saying his call sign incorrectly. And I tried to correct him at least twice anyway, but I wouldn't think you'd hear anything on 770. But he kept saying that. So I don't know what I'm thinking. You know, I don't know, maybe I'm wrong. But anyway, I said, well, you might try listening to 146, 670. I told him to look at it when he's not keyed up. I thought about that too. But even 770 wouldn't make sense, right? Because it's. It should be like 170, not 770. Maybe he's. Maybe he's seeing the 170 and not 770 because it's 600 off on VHS. Anyway, I was trying to get invited, you know, hopefully show up on Fridays and stuff like that because that'd be great to work with him on some of that stuff. Newer operators, you know, I didn't want to bring in the Regalia repeater. He was sounding okay on the 670 using an HT from wherever he was up there, but just, you know, confuse him or something, you know, he couldn't even say his call sign correctly. Oh, yeah, yeah. See, I've dealt with new people before, people I haven't heard before. So I've went overboard many times. Many times. And so I've tried to learn not to go overboard anymore. Too much information at one time can really make some people Mike shy or panic or not like us anymore type of thing. So I just trying to stick to, you know, being nice about things like even hearing the Roger beep and trying to say it's up to you, you know, it's kind of optional, I guess. But, you know, most of us turn it off.
W e6axm repeater.
Speaker A: Oh, yeah? Yeah, I was hoping. Hoping to get him to come to like a Friday coffee thing or something, you know, I don't know. You should know how far that goes. I've been there. I don't even. I don't even go there that often, I don't think, you know, to be honest. But I've been there before when some. That one lady that was baking cookies, she came up from Chico and been there when other people have just come up for. No, you know, not know. I even brought a friend, a friend or two one time when I went there. Trying to get them interested. You know, it's the type of thing where some people can get interested. But I could tell you that if I took some of my friends to like some of these meetings and stuff, they would not be interested at all. They're just too dry and boring, you know, I mean, no excitement. You know, events is where you. Where you get more interest. Even like that's why I was mentioning the kids fishing day thing. If a person could just set up a table and maybe easy up and little literature out there and be operating on radios, that's all they'd have to do. You know, people get interested. Yep, that's the way you do it. But you know, it gets kind of poo pooed, you know, I think you guys set up at that veterans event and you had probably some good results from that. So same type of thing. Apple

Speaker B: I was hoping I only got six more weeks, but document they passed over me.
Speaker A: I think he's going down for some dumbness or some show or something like that. So while, while we're going south, hey, let's stop and put All Star up on the mountain so I have solid LA coverage.
Speaker B: Yeah, there you go. I gotta move a bunch of my stuff over to. Moving my main repeater over to Vaca and moving my hub over there too. I got a little bit of work ahead of me.
Speaker A: And up on Montero Mountain where 32 is one of the poles of the four poles. Antenna structure, you know, tower, whatever. One of the poles snapped the last storm we had, so American Tower tried to replace all four of them. So we have. We'll be going through some changes. I think I'm going to replace my antenna at the same time.
Speaker B: So.
Speaker A: Yeah, fun for one, fun for all. Sounds like you're having more fun. Yeah.
Speaker B: This should allow me to bring Reno back online. But I was in Tahoe last week and I checked the Reno repeaters up, but the link's not there anymore. That link antenna already got destroyed once and I hope my brand new one didn't get destroyed, but I couldn't hear the link at all from Tahoe, so. Yeah, not a good sign.
Speaker A: Dave, when is this getting started?
Speaker B: Yeah, I know I'm gonna have to talk to a friend of mine that's got one of the fire cameras up there, see if he can get around and look at the building and see what's left of it.
Speaker A: Yep, probably pointed right at the ground
Speaker B: the last one was, and it was one of those bulletproof Scalas. This is just one of the little antenna things. It's probably halfway to Sparks by now.
Speaker A: Is that the Scala with the dome?
Speaker B: Nope, this is what's inside the dome, I think is the little ones that have a. That are solid in the middle and have those big beefy elements on it. It was a five element uhf. It'd been up there for quite a few years, but it finally. Something finally took it out. It was pointed about a 45 degree angle to the ground and Tom tried to straighten it and it just snapped.
Speaker A: I hate it when that happens.
Speaker B: Yeah, it almost might have to be this summer before I get up there and do anything about it. All right, I'll let you go till all the rumors are flying and heads are falling and all kinds of good stuff around here.
Speaker A: So catch you later, J. Tex. Heads are falling or heads are rolling? Okay, a little bit of both. All right. Sitting here listening. Hope you're be the JTV fan, Husy.
The Gears Net will be held Tuesday night starting at 7:30pm all amateur radio operators are welcome to join in on the net W Fix RHC Repeater Check 3.
Hey, jeff.
All right, this is K6CQP up here near Sacramento. Just wanted to say how cool it was to have a repeater system that goes from SAC to la.
Huntington Beach. Anybody out there? Copy, Huntington Beach. You're loud and clear. Okay, where are you located? This is ken m6kne. I am in chinata, columbia. Okay, that's testing I was going to do. You must have some access to the system here. Doing some testing here. Okay. Get the thing mixed up here. Okay, so apparently I'm on the system. See if I can go direct W6BRP goofing around here. This should be local. One, two, three. Yeah. Yep. I'm hearing you in San Jose. Yeah. You're not hear me at San Jose. Don't know if it's on the local system. Service monitors giving me some strange readings here for some reason. You're on the link. They're. They're up there on Santiago working on things. So they link the link and the locus. Okay. There's technicians up there playing around. Okay, very good. Trying to fix it. W6BRP, Huntington Beach. Thank you. The good news is it sounds like you're right here in the Bay area. So keep up. Good work, 73. Delving your feet with JKV. Hard at work at Angry Ski Bay Area. Hey, a station that was in Huntington Beach. What was your call and first name? Name is buck. It calls W6B or B. Type confirmed. Buck, I haven't heard you on my repeater in a long time. Wa6 yre. Okay, Fred. Didn't sound like you. For some reason, the audio sounded a little different. But that second time you came around, it did sound like Fred. Yeah. We're up here working on the repeater, trying to get the link and everything working. First time was Tom. He's the owner of the system. Talk to you later. We've got a lot of stuff to do up here. Wa6yre. Santiago. Okay. If you need me to take a look at it, whatever you're doing now, the output, I can do that, but that. I think I'll go have some lunch. Take care, Fred. See you later, Buck. WD6 wiring. Fred, it sounds like the All Star side of things is working properly. Sounds like the audio is great. Great. So we may have knocked this out the first try. N6 can. I'll be listening. We haven't set levels. Haven't said anything yet. We're still working on getting stuff fixed. We'll be back later. WA6 wiring. Jkv, you still here? Go ahead. I guess it's working, huh? So just be advised, you know, there's gonna be some confusion here as things are going on and off and people are jumping in and out and we're gonna disconnect and reconnect and whatever. So just do me a favor. When I actually call for a radio check, you know, I need one, make sure there's somebody up there that can do it, okay? You know how it goes. Oh, do I ever, man. That's the least I could do for you, dude. I'll be around, then when I go to lunch, I'll strap you on. So I think, you know. All right, that was tmi, but thank you anyway. It's actually shouting, you know, pretty good. I haven't really looked at anything yet, but for plugging it in, first time, I'm actually surprised, but anyhow. All right, back to stuff here. N6 mpg. Oh, you might want to answer your text from Greg. Says heads are flying all over the place at work, so don't know if you've been in the loop or not, but you might want to investigate if you get a chance or even care. You mean I might not have to go back to work? Okay, I'll check. 6 MBT. Yeah, if you got a. A subject line that says org update, just delete it and see what happens. Catch you later. AJ 6km oh my God. All right, thanks. It's 6 MP. Tom. Let me know if you need a tone. I've got one ready to go here. All right, it's probably going to be a little bit because we're going to shut things down, do some other work. He's going to do software firmware upgrade on the controller, blah, blah, blah, so be a little while. So I suggest taking lunch break or whatever, have an adult beverage and we'll let you know. Don't break the controller, man. I think you ordered us ordered a box of smoke from China. So I guess lets it out, he can put it back in immediately. I just got that. That's good.
And 6. Kenny in out to Columbia.
Speaker A: 25?
Speaker B: I think so. Go ahead. And 6 mbt. If we added in the power supply, battery voltage option yet. No, we are multitasking, but that one has not come up yet. All right, thank you. Stay safe on the tower, Joy. Oh, yeah, that's coming up soon. All right. N6,72.
