Km7dal testing. Kilo mike7 delta alpha lima. Yeah, you're good. You're good, Cameron. You're making it in there.
And one last time, this is Ksunan Dal testing. Doesn't look like I'm getting it in very good on the fdr. And if I am, I appreciate everybody bearing with me for this. 3 Specification 73. Yeah, you're in. You're in there. Double check your frequency and make sure you're on the exact frequency that time it sounded like you may be off just a tiny bit and six knees.
Speaker A: I do believe it should have been the correct frequency. I've made a note of it. Thank you for the advice. 73km7d a l.
Speaker B: Okay.
Speaker A: Yeah.
Speaker B: You sounded great that time.
Speaker A: Yeah. I've got a choice of four repeaters that I could try for my backyard here. And where I'm at in Las Vegas is kind of a technical term, a bit of a diploma. So sometimes getting out on the radio is kind of difficult because I start running into the earth.
Speaker B: All right, well, you have a good signal, you take care n6kne and I'm here in Chenauta. Columbia. System7 link up.
Speaker A: Yes sir, you have a good one yourself. Km7b from las vegas, nevada.
Speaker C: AF6MQ on system three. All the, all the Nevadas coming through the wings there. Sounds really overdriven or distorted or something. You both sound kind of messed up. So how does system 3 sound? Going the other way? AF6M system 20.
Speaker A: The receive that I'm getting is really good. I would look at it on the sdr. It does look overdriven. Just in the waterfall. I'm not sure why.
Speaker C: Big beautiful system and there's lots of links and any one of them could be having issues. But. Yeah, no, you, you both sound pretty distorted and like you're on wide and it should be narrow or vice versa or something like that.
Speaker B: No worries.
Speaker C: It's doable. AF6M GIM.
Speaker B: Which repeater are you on? Did you say system system 7 or system 2?
Speaker C: My mind is system 3. 1, 2, 3. Out here on the Mendocino coast. It's up on the ridge. I think it's got a straight link to Vacca.
Speaker B: Okay, I'm going to double check the double check settings on Vaca. I think I made a play with
Speaker C: them a little bit last night.
Speaker B: Let me, let me make sure there's not something funny going on there. Okay, thanks for. Thanks for that. I'll check that out. M6P Andy,
Speaker C: that one, you sounded like your normal self. There's obviously a bit of slink noise, but that one sounded way better. So I don't know what to tell you on that. I don't know if it's this end or whatever, but that one was fine. AM6M2.
Speaker B: Okay? Yeah, and I was mistaken. It wasn't Vaca that I made the changes to. Yeah, there could have just been some lazy Internet somewhere. Okay, take care. M6 okay, Eddie.

Speaker A: Good morning, kn6mgk. Well, I just turned the radio on. I've been up for a whole
Speaker B: half hour maybe, but. Yeah, I don't got no idea yet what you up to.
Speaker A: So that reminds me. Maybe tomorrow. Usually you have your your Mac with you. It'd be nice if you did. I'm hoping I have one of those mish whoosh mesh tag things in my hands by then. It'd be fun to use your computer to update the firmware on it right away. And it worked way better with your your Mac
Speaker B: than it would with my PC. Yep. Yeah.
Speaker A: In this case, I wish that I had one for the for the other ones that Pat has, too, because we're sitting there upgrading his, you know, the seed nodes and stuff with our PCs, and it's a pain. So same kind of a process, you know, trying to locate the right file to stick it on and everything, versus that your Mac just shows it right away.
Speaker A: Yeah, well, there's spyware on pretty much every computer, though. Yeah. So. But I don't like Gates for other reason, like poisoning Africans and poisoning Americans. So. Yeah, why anyone supports them, I don't know. But here I have a Windows machine right here, so I guess that's supporting them too. So anyway, yeah, another subject on Windows, you. I think you run your. Do you run your ICOM7300FT8
Speaker B: using your PC? Yeah, I got a friend over there
Speaker A: at Reading that's got an ICOM and he's been using it for JS8 for quite a long time and on some sort of a PC. Anyway, he's been having troubles. Now he can't get his JS8 to run, which should be very similar to FT8. And that just happened like all of a sudden. Maybe a Windows update came in or something. But anyway, be curious for like, what drivers you're using and that type of thing. Is it something different than the Silicon
Speaker B: Labs? You know, dr, I did get him to do the firmware update, but I wonder
Speaker A: if he knows how to. I mean, you have to put yours. You have to put yours into the FT8 reset, right?
Yeah, but we're talking about FT8 a little bit here, because I think it would be similar. But you have to, like, I think on patch, you have to load in the FT8 preset. Then when you want to operate the. The transceiver normally, like for ssv, you have. You have to unload it, right?
Speaker A: Right. Does your 7610 work the same way where it has that FT8
Speaker B: presets in the radio that you have to load in. Right? Right. So.
Speaker A: So that's what you do, right? You. It's page two of what?
Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. I don't know.
Speaker B: Yeah, I don't. I don't want your equipment, though. It'd be best if you have it, especially with winter field day and, you know, maybe you want to operate this weekend and stuff.
Speaker A: Yeah, if
Speaker B: he wants it done, then he could use near Mac. He
Speaker A: can. He
Speaker B: can
Speaker A: come over to Barnes and Noble or something.
Speaker B: Yeah, I kind of doubled with you at the beginning there, but anyway. Yeah, if Pat wants it done, he can always meet you over at Barnes and Noble or something like that. On Thursdays, he's generally in the area like he was
Speaker A: last Thursday. Yeah, I might be a couple minutes, too. Kn6mgk.

Speaker A: N6 wip n6 npm oh, I had the volume down. Hope nobody was
Speaker B: talking.
Speaker A: N6 npm.
Speaker B: Looks like I'm in the safe zone.
Speaker A: Was that Steven there? And six grt.
Speaker B: Well, I'm, I'm out here, if that's what you're asking, but I was in the other room. Good morning. Yeah, good morning.
Speaker A: Good morning, Steve. Yeah. Looking for some batteries. Triple A for this little light that I'm going to put on my bike. My E bike. Anyway. How are you doing? I'm on. They're doing the weather right now. Steve is from Quartzite.
Speaker B: Nice. Well, one thing I'll comment on is your audio. It's a little different than it has been, so I kind of like it. But it reminds me a lot more of your Kenwood that you used to run. Anyway, the deviation has just got a little bit more deepness to it. I don't know what's changed, but that's interesting. All right. Yeah, cool. I know you'll be getting back to it then in a minute. One thing that I had for you actually is the ICOM 7300. I just want to make sure that, like when you're trying GS8, you know, you're putting it, I mean, you know, you hit your menu button and I think it's page two that after the firmware update where you have the FT8 preset, you're going to load that in. Right. That's how you're. You're attempting to, to do gsa, correct. Yeah.
Speaker A: So I think I've done everything right. I've always, I've always ran JS8. No problem with the 7300, so.
Speaker B: Yeah, okay. Yeah, but you didn't have. I mean, it wasn't until the firmware update where you, where they added that to it. Right. The FT8 presets and you, you know, on page two, that's the whole point of the firmware update. Right.
Speaker A: But what you got to remember is that the, the problem isn't whether, you know, it's just not trying to work at all. The problem is an error, and the error indicates that there's no audio coming from the radio.
Speaker B: Well, I'm just trying to make sure you're operating it, you know, as of the new firmware update in that. Right. In that correct mode. That's all. Because you say you've been operating it for a long time. That's fine. I know you have, but that's what, you know, the way that you do. It changed in that firmware update. So that's the reason for me mentioning it.
Speaker A: You say you go to menu and then what?
Speaker B: Well, I think it's the menu and it's like page two of the menu and there wasn't. There shouldn't have been a page 2 the previous version according to my friend Jay talking to him this morning. So. Yep. So the firmware update should have added the second page.
Speaker A: Okay. And then you go to where it says FT8. Click on it.
Speaker B: Yeah, something like that. Yeah.
Speaker A: There it says loads of preset memory.
Speaker B: Huh.
Speaker A: Okay, well that's good to know. I'll have to try it.
Speaker B: Yeah, if you haven't been doing that, nothing will work. Yeah, that's. That's the whole point of the firmware update.
Speaker A: So.
Speaker B: Yeah, I mean that's how you do it. And then you unload it when you go back to sideband. So anyway. Yeah, so do that and then go back to your normal. You know how you normally would configure JS8 in the program. I bet you it'll work then as long as you have those silicon. The silicon drivers. Drivers. Anyway, I know you probably. I'm not listening to 40 meters, but I bet you have to get back can 6 MGK.
Speaker A: Well, another thing that happened with. With it was I. I put the. The new version of JS8 in so called improved and. And it. And that version crashes. So I just got through putting FT8 preset in like you said and. And the new version version of JS8 still crashes. It just comes on and stays on for a second and then it quits goes away. So I did find out that the old version, the old version was coming up as having a virus in it. Well, the guy. It's a particular virus that shows up when the software is not licensed. There's some kind of licensing thing so. And how to get around it and so forth. So I'm going to put the old version of JS8 back in and then I'll try this new thing that you just showed me and see what happens.
Speaker B: Well, it can't hurt. Okay, well maybe I'll toss on 40 meters real quick, but that's not on at the moment. All right. Kate, mgk. Gonna get some coffee for the wife.
Speaker A: Wanted to ask you. One of the things I see on the preset is 20 Chinese writing or Japanese writing for choice number one. Any idea what that's all about?
Speaker B: No.
Speaker A: No idea.
Speaker B: Yeah. No idea. Yeah, you have to ask my friend Jay, you know that. That operates his 7300 all the time. So you know he has Apple too. He could probably do a FaceTime thing knowing. Knowing him, he's seen him do that kind of stuff before. In case you're ever Interested?
Speaker A: Well, one thing I'm going to do is find out what the presets are that they just got through loading up. Make sure that they're compatible with the presets that I. With all the ways, setups that I use for it, if for jsa and that it matches. I don't know. I, I doubt that it's actually changing the setup at jsa. It's basically changing the radio.
Speaker B: Yep, that's what it's doing, I think changing the radio. And if you didn't put it in that mode before, it's a no wonder it didn't work. And it would make sense that you're not getting any audio transfer. Yeah. Because it doesn't know that that's what you're wanting to do or something. Yeah, you know, that's just something that, that's how we had to get Pat's working, you know, his, his versions of Windows and stuff. So I don't know. Yeah, I bet it will work now if you, if you use that, you know, the other motions of your JS8 and stuff should be all similar to what you're accustomed to for the settings and everything. All right, I know you got to get back to it soon. Here, let me turn on the volume. Let's see. Oh, I don't. Oh, I know why mode is wrong. Let that see. All right, talk to you in a bit. KN6MGK.
Speaker A: Well, by the way, OFG, who's doing the weather right now and who is Net control is at courtside. So anyway, that's what's going on. All right, talk to you later. Jump into the net if you'd like. And safe charging.
Speaker B: Yeah, when they told me I couldn't talk about stuff like nestastic and all that, it kind of put a little downer in me for a while. So, yeah, they don't want to talk about ham radio related things, just whatever their own stuff is, so. Oh, well. Yep. All right, I hear them. Can 6 MGK.
Speaker A: Who told you that you couldn't talk about
Speaker B: K7 ofg? You remember? You were right there. You were listening.
Speaker A: Okay. Yeah, I missed that, though. All right, well, yeah, that would be a good question for him. Is, is there any mesh tastic at. At courtside? And also another thing that they said, I think it was maybe Steve again saying that you can talk about anything you want to talk about during the very last part. You know, the CQ thing.
Speaker B: Yeah, qst. Yeah, so that's what we were in when he said that. I couldn't remember. So. Yeah, your memory's getting a little fogged to it. You were right there, and we had a little discussion about it that day later, anyway, so. Yeah, then you told me that, like, the next day or so, they changed their mind anyway. But that was the section where I brought it up. I now come on to Chabasco very often, and I made sure I waited until QST to even bring it up. So that was a month or two ago, probably at this point. But I don't forget too easily. So I'll come back around eventually and try to catch up and say hello to those guys. KN6MGK. So get my wife some coffee and have a great day over there.
Speaker A: Okay? Well, one thing that you'll find is that they were doing that kind of thing with. With js8even, which is ham radio stuff, and they changed eventually. But it wasn't OFG that was saying that he actually thought JSA was cool. And he. You can use jsa. He does jsa. So, yeah, things vary. Things kind of change around. All right, get on it when you can.
