Speaker A: Kk6vzd mobile. W e6a x n repeater.
Speaker B: Kk6fyv mobile. Hey, Chris. How you doing?
Speaker A: I am doing just peachy, thank you very much. How are you?
Speaker B: I'm driving right in front of you. Probably.
Speaker A: You think I'm coming out of Harbor Freight. Is that where you're at?
Speaker B: I figured you were just leaving work over here in Marysville. But I'm still in Marysville.
Speaker A: Still. If there you get caught, there's some construction going on on 65. Right. Right before you get to the mall, right?
Speaker B: No, I was. After that. I had a doctor's appointment, and I ran by Sportsman's and Rocklers, and then I'm on the way home.
Speaker A: Isn't it nice that they're both right there together?
Speaker B: Yeah. If you want to speak.
Speaker A: Actually, yeah, no, I. Rockler's an interesting place to go, but I don't do all that much woodwork, so, you know, it's kind of wasted on me. But I saw that they have some classes here every once in a while. I thought I'd like to.
Speaker B: Yeah, my daughter and I went and took a epoxy woodworking class over there.
Speaker A: Oh, neat. Yeah, I. I'd like to see what they do. I had talked with my daughter about possibly going and doing a class. She seemed amenable.
Speaker B: Yeah, they were really nice and knowledgeable and all that. It's just every time I go in there, I spend more money than I should.
Speaker A: Oh, yes. Well, yeah. Too bad I'm not younger and had more room and a bit more ambition. I'd love to do woodworking. Yeah, There's a lot to be done with that.
Speaker B: It all depends on how deep you want to go. Then it gets into. How much do you want to spend?
Speaker A: I made a very basic model mahogany bookshelf years and years and years ago. And that darn thing. I mean, that thing's built like a tank.
Speaker B: Well, that's the other thing is, you know, if you personally spend the time and to make a really nice piece of furniture or whatever you're making, is it gonna last? And is your. You know, is it gonna be generational, they call it, you know, where you're pass it on and your rest of your family can use it, and they can.
Speaker A: Their kids can use it.
Speaker B: Who knows?
Speaker A: Yeah, my daughter has it right now. I think she really appreciates it. I think that might be one of those that just passed down to the next generation whenever that comes time for it. Yep. Yep. Did find out that. And I built this thing when I was at McChord. And that was, that was 40 years ago. And back then mahogany wasn't cheap. I can just imagine what it would cost now to build that same bookcase.
Speaker B: Yeah, I'm not sure. I kind of perused the wood selection there a little bit, but I don't, didn't look at mahogany,
Speaker A: Make one mistake. Instead of making the backing, you know, like a quarter inch piece of wood there just, just to cover the back. I made it three quarters of an inch, man.
Speaker B: Do you make it out of plywood at least or is it 3 quarter inch solid piece of wood, you know, all edge glued together.
Speaker A: It's three quarter mahogany edge glued together.
Speaker B: Then you got a heavy piece of furniture there.
Speaker A: Yes, I do. But it, it, you know, like I said, it came out pretty good. There's a couple of flaws that if you look, you can see them but you know, it looks pretty, pretty nice and it's stained up. Well,
Speaker B: are they obvious flaws or the ones that you stand behind somebody and you smack them in the back of the head because they're looking too hard?
Speaker A: Well, I guess it's probably an obvious flaw that I use a little wood putty to fix, but you know. Oh well,
Speaker B: those are fine. I wish I had taken the time to learn a little more with my, I would call him master that I worked with when I was in high school. But yeah, he could take, you know, take grab five or six little, you know, whatever they are half ounce cans of different colors of wood putty and he'd sit there and mix the colors and play with the colors and blend the colors and you would have to stare at it to see where he put the putty.
Speaker A: Oh yeah, I, I should have checked this out. There used to be a, a furniture making classroom over in Marysville fifth right there at E Street, just a little bit past E Street. And I don't know how much the guy would have charged for lessons, but I kind of wish that I had done that when he was still there.
Speaker B: Yeah, the guy I did was just a painter, interior finisher, whatever you want to call it, kind of guy did, you know, painted whatever he needed to houses or buildings or whatever. But also did, you know, wall coverings, you know, put up expensive wallpaper like we did interior of doctor's offices. And we did remember where it was, but we did a finished new cancer ward for a place and all their waiting rooms and all that stuff. And all around it was hardwood trim. And I said filling nail holes. I mean you had a hard press when he was done to find a nail hole, and it would look like a continuous beast all the way around the room.
Speaker A: Yeah. You know, I remember when my. When I was younger, my grandfather came over a couple of different times and put up some wallpaper for us in our house. And, you know, it'd be nice if he had taken the time to instruct us. That would have been. I'm not sure what I had the patience, but I wish I had some of those skills nowadays.
Speaker B: Yep. He knew exactly how much to cut off to match it up. All the way around the room or out across the wall. Like I said, all of his woodwork was perfect. Or better than perfect.
Speaker A: Yeah, when Grandpa was finished, you couldn't tell where the seams were. That was.
Speaker B: It was that good.
Speaker A: Oh, well. Well, I am pulling in to the driveway right now, so I'm going to wish you a smooth journey the rest of the way home. And we'll talk to you later. 73 KK6VZD.
Speaker B: Clear. All right, Chris, I was just wondering when the next meeting is. I haven't been able to listen to the net.
Speaker A: That would be next Tuesday. Okay, just making sure.
Speaker B: All right, I may see you then, if nothing else is going on. All right, KK6 SYV clear for now.

Speaker B: N7 dry. This is the n5ea.
Speaker A: Caught you before you got back to the park, huh?
Speaker B: Yeah, we forgot that we have to go to the store and pick up a couple items, so we're headed into town to do that right now, Over. Okay, well, I just got in the
Speaker A: rig to run out for our monthly meeting. I don't know how. Well, my antenna will do down here on the side of this little bluff. We go down Falcon, but we'll give it a try.
Speaker B: Well, you're doing five nine out here, so we have a good repeater connection.
Speaker A: Well, it's good.
Speaker B: Yeah.
Speaker A: Off to the monthly meeting tonight. Talk about all the fun and radio stuff. What'd they find in your rig?
Speaker B: We don't know other than we may. I may have run the. The coolant down too low when there was an air bubble in it or something. But anyway, we filled it up, purged it, made sure everything was copathetic and
Speaker A: took it for a nice
Speaker B: almost 200 mile drive around up to Beatty and then through Death Valley National Park. And now we're back in from.
Speaker A: Okay. Hey, have you ever driven through the. What the heck. Right on the other side of the mountain there from you on the Vegas side, right on the slope.
Speaker B: Red. Red. Not Red River, Red rocks. What is it?
Speaker A: Conservation area or something. I forget what it's called. Anyway, have you been through there?
Speaker B: Actually, we did when we were here in October. We took that rental car, had a nice drive through Red Rock Canyon, I think it's called.
Speaker A: That Sounds right. Yeah, it's not a.
Speaker B: Not a national park.
Speaker A: What do they call it? National monument, maybe? Red Rock Canyon National Monument. Yeah, and of course the time we.
Speaker B: My daughter in Vegas there, we had
Speaker A: planned to go through there and I don't know what, I thought it was maybe a state park or something. And I left our national park pass at home, so we ended up having to pay full tilt to get into the place just to drive through it. But whatever it was, it was a nice drive. Beautiful place. At some point we'll get back there.
Speaker B: Now they do where you buy a ticket, a pass online for a timed appointment, go through. Oh, I think
Speaker A: I know about that. Yeah, we were enough in the day. I think they opened it to everybody, but it was. It was pretty packed. A lot of hikers that day. But we were there late, late in the afternoon and Must have missed the time restraints.
Speaker B: Yeah, copy that. Well, hey, we're at the store, so I'm going to bail on out. You're probably getting close to your meeting point. 7 dry. N5AA.
Speaker A: Okay, Yep, I'm following Johnny K7ZZQ and his pickup I see ahead of me. So, yeah, we'll be there just a couple of minutes. Next time you're out here or when you get here. By the way, the Falcon, the main road from the highway to our place, now has a traffic light on it, which is a good thing. Just got turned on this morning anyway. Okay, I'll. I'll let you go. 10. 7. Dry.
Speaker B: Clear. N5ea is clear.

Did you guys have a good nap today? Thanks for checking in, Claire. We got you covered. KE6IMW. Go ahead. What was the station that needed the ladder line? Hey Joe, you still out there? That's affirmative. Copy. Do you know how much you need? Not a lot, you know, just enough to make a J pole. He has. I think the dimensions are only like 6ft, but, you know, might make a few of them. So, I don't know, 6, 12, 21, 20ft, something like that. I might have enough to make about six feet. I'd have to double check, but you're welcome to. It belonged to an antenna that broke, so. But that part of the antenna is still pretty good. Cappy, are you going to be at the meeting this next Tuesday? Yeah. If you want, I could bring it with me. That'll work. Thank you.

Speaker A: 0dve from Ko6mo Are you around? Devin?
Speaker B: Yeah, this is dve. What's going on?
Speaker A: I just wanted to let you know there's been some pretty good openings in the morning on 10 and 10 and 12 in the last couple weeks to Europe. So I've been. Had some pretty good success there in case you. You're interested in that.
Speaker B: Okay, I'll give it a look. Have to get up earlier.
Speaker A: Yeah, I mean around 7am or so seems to be. I mean at least around here it's kind of like that seems to be working pretty good. I was able to work the Falklands on 17 like late in the afternoon today. That was kind of interesting and I think on 40 around the same time, maybe a little bit earlier in the morning. But on 40 there were some openings to Asia which I found that was kind of interesting as well.
Speaker B: Yeah, with the wind it's kind of jumping all over for me. I'm trying to taste Cameroon right now, but not getting anywhere.
Speaker A: W E6A X N repeater. Yeah, I saw that one come up but there was Cameron and then I think Malawi was on a couple of weeks ago. They've been pretty active. They have a little station there. Were you able to get. What's the one in Angola? That one seems to be pretty. Coming up quite a bit and it's pretty easy to get.
Speaker B: Yeah, I've got Angola a couple times. Did you get your hundred DXX DX this is yet?
Speaker A: Yeah, I gotta. I'm up to 112 but I don't have enough of them confirmed yet.
Speaker B: Yeah, that's always a problem unless you're actively chasing him, which I don't always do.
Speaker A: Yeah, I copied that. I got a. I worked my tail off trying to get the USA 250. That's what I've been was working on for the last couple weeks and I got it on Saturday, this last Saturday. So that was kind of cool.
Speaker B: That's good, that's great. Yeah, I got mine I think February 1st
Speaker A: right on. I was pretty sure you probably already got it but I didn't really know too much about it until, I don't know, a couple weeks ago somebody had mentioned it on their QRZ page and like well that's pretty, pretty neat. But then I understood because what people are calling CQ250 and you know, and all that stuff. So I guess it kind of. It's kind of a cool little thing. I really like QRZ because make these little interesting awards, you know and you can kind of go after them just keeps. Keeps life interesting.
Speaker B: Yeah, I do too. I'm also working on the W1. Aw. Worked all states. Have you been doing that one?
Speaker A: Yeah, I'm not really familiar with that. I've worked at W1, AW1, 9 4, I think those, those stations. And maybe tell me a little bit more about that.
Speaker B: So they're rotating around, so there's going to be two chances for each state through this year.
Speaker A: Okay. So it's going throughout the whole year. So y' all just keep trying to work them. Oh, I wanted to mention, have you worked at the UN station that un Won un. That one's been pretty active lately as well.
Speaker B: Yeah, I have that one too. That was great.
Speaker A: Right on. I saw them trying to work Samoa this afternoon and so they were like locked in a. Trying to like work them. But yeah, Samoa's been pretty easy. One I'm after right now, I think in the Pacific is the Solomon Islands. I haven't worked work them up. I saw him come up, but I think I need that one.
Speaker B: Yeah, I don't think I have that one either. I'm still stuck at 87, so I've got a ways to go.
Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, you're right. You're gonna get there. So. Yeah, I think Europe last Monday, a week ago Monday, this morning was pretty good, but a week ago Monday was insanely good. Into Europe on 10 and 12. It was like. I've never seen it open like that before since I've been operating. I've only been operating a couple months, but it was really, really cool to see that everything all the way into, well, deep in Russia, which was kind of where some station called Kaliningrad, which is like. I don't even know. It's way out there in the middle of Russia. So that's kind of the situation that was just unbelievably good.
Speaker B: You might have a better antenna than I do, but I'll keep working at it.
Speaker A: I don't know. Yeah, it's hard to say because, like, this is just an infed, you know, half wave, infed antenna. So it's on. I don't know. I usually, you know, 10 through 10 through 80, but I don't work 60 or 30, so. Yeah, but it's. I don't know, it's only up. But it's weird because just. I guess it just depends on the orientation, you know. So I guess I got a good. A good look, you know, once in a while, you know, going north that way.
Speaker B: Well, my wire is only about even with my second story window so it probably should be higher but it's all I can do.
Speaker A: This one's thrown up in the tree so it goes from the chimney to the tree to another crape myrtle and then into another crape myrtle. So it's nothing special either.
Speaker B: Well either way it's fun. I enjoy it.
Speaker A: Yeah you got me turned on to it and I'm very thankful for that. So I mean it's really made made a huge. Always puts a smile on my face working working these these stations. It's just amazing. So thank you so much. Anyway, I'll sign clear. I'm gonna get back to doing some other projects but oh I did put on a a 1 to 1 ballon choke on this thing so maybe that helped out a little bit as well. I don't know. Anyway, ko6ml be clear on your final
Speaker B: okay you have a good one in zero dve.

Speaker A: In the early morning light, we gazed across the desolate and arid plains. We observe the graceful gazelle grazing in the deep grasses, sleepy sloths silhouetted in the limbs of the umbrella thorn acacia tree, and the resting lion pride awaiting their mid morning snack. As the oblivious expedition party of tourists arrange, we interrupt the National Geographic program with a special airing of a coffee breaknet originating on the W6ek repeater located in Auburn, California. The coffee break Net. Where the sun is always shinin', the birds are singin and the fish are jumpin'. This net is sponsored by the Sierra Foothills Amateur Radio Club in Northern California. We are here every day of the week from 7:30am to 10:00am Pacific Time. Please welcome your net control host and conversation facilitator Brian AI6US. Dressed in his pith helmet, khaki shorts and coffee mug, Brian is checking in from beautiful Meadow Vista, California. Let's get the Coffee breaknet underway because it's a great way to start our day. Good morning fellow explorers.
Speaker B: Good morning fellow explorers. I'm Brian AI6us in beautiful Meadow Vista, California. And let's get this Tuesday edition of the Coffee Breaknet underway. Let's see, before we get the morning started, let's go ahead and see what the national and international days are. And let's see. Today is National Cribbage Day. Don't know if you're a cribbage fan, but I know I think my aunt would spend hours, hours playing cribbage with her friends. Today is umbrella day. Umbrellas, something you really don't see that often. But one joke that we always had up in Portland, Oregon, you could pick out all the tourists because they were the ones carrying the umbrellas. The locals didn't seem to bother taking the time to bring out an umbrella or to stow it and what to do with it after it gets wet. Today is National Flannel Day. I have a favorite flannel shirt. In fact, I'm wearing it right now. A nice long sleeve, brown, thick flannel. Just, I absolutely love it. Kind of wear it as a, as a lightweight coat. Today is safer Internet day. So yes indeed, part of a safer Internet is kind of watching where you go and what cookie crumbs you leave behind. And today is Teddy Bear day. Did you have a favorite teddy bear while growing up? A year or so ago I was going through a box of things from my childhood and I found Smokey the Bear. Yeah, Smokey the Bear. Teddy bear was hanging out in there for the last 50 plus years. Good morning let's go ahead and get the coffee breaknet underway with check ins. The Coffee breaknet is going to be running through 10:00am Pacific Time this morning. So we're going to start out first with quick in and outs. Those are for the folks who just have a few minutes to spend with us. Want to say a quick hello before you get on with the rest of your day? I'm going to go ahead and take local check ins first off of the RF check ins from the repeater directly and then we'll go over to Internet based check ins. All Star, Echo Link, etc. So let's start off with RF check ins. Spread them out please. Good morning.
Speaker C: Kw6u in and out.
Speaker D: Kilo6 Bravo, Sierra, Yankees in and out.
Speaker B: All right, a couple doubles in there, but Good morning Jeff. K6BSY and Jeff Dos, KW6U. I know there's a few other RF local stations on the repeater. Go ahead and come back. Kilo Oscar 6 India Hotel 2,
Speaker C: Kilo
Speaker E: Delta 6 Charlie, Delta Quebec, wrecking off islands.
Speaker B: All right, one or two doubles in there, but I got rick, kd6cdq and larry, k06ihj4 with another station, kilo bravo 6 lima uniform victor, brett. Good morning brian. All right, adding KV6 luv. Thank you, Brett. Got you on the list. All right, now let's check in to see who's coming in through All Star or Echo link through the Internet.
Speaker F: N 60kv.
Speaker B: November 6th papa, papa, papa, n6, triple
Speaker D: p,
Speaker F: Kn6ush,
Speaker D: Kd3k n in and out.
Speaker B: All right, Good morning Anna, KD3HAN. Good morning to Mike, KN6USH. And good morning to Chris in 6PPP. And good morning to Carl in 6 CKV. All right, let's go up to the top of the list. Just a reminder, these are quick in and out so please keep your check ins under 2 minutes and I will be flipping the soft egg timer this morning. Good morning, Jeff, KW6U.
Speaker C: Good morning, Brian and Annette. Just on my way to a doctor's appointment, then a hike and that's about it today.
Speaker B: I'll.
Speaker C: I think my wife's got a list
Speaker B: of chores for me when I get home. Oh, very good. Jeff, how are your plans coming along for the Pacific coast trail hike?
Speaker C: Yeah, the PCT is coming up in May. I am, I'm up to. I've got a few 15 to 18 mile days in with my backpack weight. So I'm hiking with weights now and I'm putting it on a little bit so my miles are Stacking up and it feels good.
Speaker B: All right, well, very good.
Speaker A: Yeah.
Speaker B: Looking forward to maybe following along. I don't know how you're going to
Speaker D: be keeping it if you're going to
Speaker B: have any HT or anything checking in along the way at all, but we'll definitely be looking forward to that. It's going to be quite the, quite the hike along the length of Pacific Coast Trail. I think. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you're going to try doing the entire length this spring and summer.
Speaker D: Yeah, that's correct.
Speaker C: It's actually the Pacific Crest Trail, not along the coast but along the mountains
Speaker B: all the way through. Yep.
Speaker C: The entire thing is the goal. I've got 167 and a half days to get it done, so we'll see if I can get it done.
Speaker B: Sorry about that. Yes, Pacific Crest Trail. Yeah, I grew up in Washington state and we had both of those wonderful hiking opportunities. All right, Jeff, well, thank you very much for checking in this morning. Good luck at the doctor's appointment and you have a wonderful day. Thanks for checking in.
Speaker D: All right, Brian.
Speaker C: U2KW6273.
Speaker B: All right, clearing with Jeff. Uno or dose? Good morning, Jeff. K6BSY.
Speaker D: Well, good morning, Brian. How you doing?
Speaker B: I'm doing. How you doing?
Speaker D: I'm doing extremely well, Brian. I am just looking at the forecast over the next two weeks and.
Speaker F: And
Speaker D: either the website has gone berserk
Speaker A: or we're in for a lot of
Speaker D: snow over the next two weeks. Excuse me. Up in the mountains.
Speaker B: I admit noticing that I saw one and I didn't catch exactly where it was along the Sierras. But they were predicting that the total Snowfall could exceed 100 inches.
Speaker D: Yeah, absolutely. Of course, you know, that maybe could turn into rain, who knows? But looks promising. And I am going to be getting some work done on the Jeep tomorrow that should prepare me for the, you know, play time in the snow. Probably no recoveries, but we'll see.
Speaker B: Ever considered getting a set of tracks?
Speaker D: You know, I've seen those. Those are very nifty. But. But I think they're about 10 grand, I think. And I would be, you know, it seemed like they would put a lot of stress on a six cylinder Jeep.
Speaker B: Casey Liddell, I think is his name. He's a recovery guy out of Bend, Oregon area. He has a YouTube channel and, and I know he's put tracks on several of his Jeeps. But yeah, I saw one episode where the track flipped and got hung up in the undercarriage and it was Not a good thing. So I think there's also varying levels of quality. But yeah, like I said, they are not inexpensive.
Speaker D: You know, I understand snowmobiles are pretty good in the snow. Is that true, Brian?
Speaker B: Boy, I wish I could give you some feedback. It's been so long since I've been on one, I don't even know who owns one.
Speaker D: Anyway. One of these days, Brian. Right, One of these days.
Speaker B: Well, if that snowfall comes onto this side of the Sierras, I might, might just take it up, you know, of course my rig is a touring rig so it needs to have groomed snow. I think if I were to do it all over again, I would have gotten something that was more capable and not rely on having groomed, you know, for touring. But you know, it seemed the right thing to do since I wanted to take my wife out with me. Hey Jeff, have a wonderful Tuesday and thanks for checking in and yes, let us know what, what you have done on the jeep and if you need to be rescued from anywhere.
Speaker D: Okay. I think we have a lot of witnesses here. So if I need to be rescued, I'm calling you Bran and you're going to get in your little snowmobile and zip up, zip up to me and, and we'll just die up there together, right?
Speaker B: Well, I'll say when I roll out of the snow, I'm pretty well prepared with emergency preparedness kit, you know, tent cooking supplies, you know, things. I'm prepared to stay overnight so I'd be willing to share those until county sheriff comes to rescue us. Have a Great day, Jeff.
Speaker D: YouTube Brand AI6US K6BS1
Speaker B: Like Jeff said, we are in for a ton of snow. Looking forward to that. Good morning Larry. K06ihj
Speaker F: Good morning Brian.
Speaker D: Good morning.
Speaker F: Coffee breakneck Ko6ihj here.
Speaker D: Hey, I have nothing going on.
Speaker F: I gotta go town today waiting for the rain.
Speaker B: I guess it's going to come in later this afternoon. Watching my daughter right now leave on the camera to go to work. It's a beautiful thing watching your daughter go to work and you can stay at the house.
Speaker F: Other than that. Tom KB6SSN says we were coming down
Speaker B: to the end of the radios. He says there's not that many left
Speaker F: in the stories and there might be
Speaker B: light at the end of the tunnel
Speaker D: because I'm, I think I have almost
Speaker B: every one of them here. Well, certainly nice to use somebody else's money to outfit your shack with toys, that's for sure. That's funny, I hear you say you're going to town today. I thought that's where you lived compared to me.
Speaker F: Nah, I'm about eight miles away from a town. So you try to make the trip.
Speaker B: Oh, she's parked too close.
Speaker F: I'm laughing because she when you go out the gate, if you don't pull far enough, you can't close the gate behind you. And she just did that. That's funny.
Speaker D: Anyway, yeah, I'm not going to Lowe's,
Speaker F: so it's a one trip thing.
Speaker B: I'm out of creamer coffee.
Speaker F: Some essentials like that kind of stuff. So yeah, it's a town run. Hope everybody has a blessed day. I'm gonna send it back to you Brian because we've got some more people coming in know they're waking up now. K06ISJ see everybody Friday.
Speaker B: Yes indeed. Thank you for the segue. There Friday, of course will be our club meeting in our new location, brand new facility, the Placer County Health and Human Services Conference Center. That's in auburn at the DeWitt Center. Easy access from Bell Road from I80 so you'll feel like you're driving all the way through Auburn and leaving town, headed into the mountains. But no, it's actually faster that way. Go I80 to Bell Road and that takes you right, right near the Placer County HHS Conference Center. Great facility. We're going to have a Great presentation by N5JEF on the mesh Core system. We have that installed in the W6ek vault and we have several nodes around the area now. So Jeff is going to tell us all about Mesh Corps. If you're not able to attend in person to our brand new open house club meeting, you can attend on Zoom. So drop on by the Zoom room and on the W6ek.org website, click on Join Zoom Meeting and join us for the club meeting for a great presentation on Mesh Core. It's the Mesh system that most people are starting to migrate towards. So check it out. Good morning, Rick. Katie 6 CDQ. Thank you for hanging around for that long. Advertisement.
Speaker E: Good morning, Brian and annette. This is KD6CDQ Rick in beautiful downtown suburban North Highlands. You know what, when are they going to have a National Crock Pot Day?
Speaker B: You know, during your next round here I am actually going to Google, in fact I'm typing in right now National Crock Pot Day because I bet you there is one.
Speaker E: Yeah, that's one of my favorite cooking utensils besides my microwave. You know, the microwave cooks it fast, the Crock pot cooks it low and slow. And man, oh, man, I've cooked many a meal in that crock pot of mine. Last time I had one go out,
Speaker B: I was miserable for a week till
Speaker E: I got a new one.
Speaker B: Not only. Boy, your wish came true there, Rick. Not only do you have a national crock pot day, which it appears to be January 17th, but you actually have the entire month of January is slow cooking month. There you go. Your wish has been granted.
Speaker E: Oh, thank you, you masterful genie.
Speaker C: You made my day.
Speaker E: Well, that's one of the reasons why I'm still up and haven't gone to bed yet. Because I'm preparing to crock pot a nice big pot of stew for dinner tonight. So when I get up, I'll be smelling the wonderful aroma from that crock pot and go out there and pray to God it didn't dry out.
Speaker B: One of my favorite things in a crock pot is a beef stew. You know, if it's done right, it nothing beats it. Hey, Rick, have a wonderful day. Just ask me for any wish that you want. I'll try to grant it for you.
Speaker E: I'm gonna keep you to that, Brian. You just made a pact with the devil. This is KD6CDQ73S and everybody, have a wonderful day.
Speaker B: You forgot to mention what time we're supposed to arrive for dinner. Have a great day. Clearance KD6CDQ. Good morning, Brett. KD6LUV. Good morning, Brian. And coffee break netland. Hope everybody's doing well. It is slightly overcast day here in south Nakomas, but that's all good. That's weather on the way, which we greatly need, so bring it on. Definitely looking for a heavier snowpack soon needed here, right? So. Hey, how are you doing, Brian? I am feeling pretty good about this storm coming in because yesterday afternoon after Lynn yesterday.

Speaker A: Kkk6vzd mobile.
Speaker B: Hey, Chris. Pete.
Speaker A: And a good morning to you. How are you doing this morning?
Speaker B: Real good. You know, I wanted to actually get a date.
Speaker A: I know.
Speaker B: No, no, no, no. Yeah, it's not like that. A date of your retirement, you know, March 15th or what?
Speaker A: March 31st is my last day of work, so according to CalPERS, my actual retirement date is April 1st.
Speaker B: That's a good day for you. Just kidding. But the 31st. Oh, wow. You gonna have a party?
Speaker A: No, no, I might. I might ask some of the people that worked when I'm close to if they want to go out to Happy Viking or Sutter Butte Brewing after work for a beer.
Speaker B: Oh, and they're expecting you to pay? Oh, gosh, they're so low.
Speaker A: Well, I might do that just because
Speaker B: I want to, but yeah, they generally,
Speaker A: you know, there's generally some sort of a send off from work and I've decided that there are so many of the people that, you know, I, I worked with for so long that are no longer there that I don't care. I don't want, I don't want a, A send off from people I don't know that well.
Speaker B: Yeah, they didn't go through boot camp and serve their time. Well. Yeah, you kind of got it.
Speaker A: We weren't in the trenches together like the other people were, so. Yeah, within, within two years time, two, three years time, they basically changed over the personnel in that department almost 100%.
Speaker B: I don't like the new kind of workers anyway. And, and people tell me about this, you know, they try to hire, you know, and they can't think, they can't solve problems. They call it the inferential level. You know, they can't put together information they've learned, you know, so, hey, they can pay their dues.
Speaker A: Well, I know this is a bit of an exaggeration, Pete, but I think it's because they let their phones do their thinking for them.
Speaker B: Well, you know, teachers are concerned about this. There's a general trend and their solution is to, you know, lessen the standards, you know, lower the, Lower the critical basic stuff to nothing.
Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, I get it. You know, I have, I have a few what I call rants, things that have got a real definite opinion on. And one of them is people not being able to think for themselves anymore because they're so dependent on their telephones or Google or whatever that you take that away from them and give them facts. And they can't, they can't, you know, compare them against one Another and come up with, you know, a conclusion.
Speaker B: Well, also they're thinking, you know, their behavior, their. The way they don't solve problems. Doesn't seem to be an issue to them, though. You know, as long as mommy's got the base, everything's fine.
Speaker A: You know, this was 20 plus years ago or so, but I was going out to Yuba College, some computer classes, and the professor, who wasn't that old, I mean, he was 40s, 80s, early 40s. We were talking about, you know, how wonderful smartphones were, and we got into the discussion about, you know, the utility, and he came up with the scenario, said, well, what if your car broke down in the middle of nowhere? What would you do? And you didn't have a cell phone to contact somebody, what would you do? And I said, I'd do what I always did, start walking.
Speaker B: You know, I hope you don't mind. That sounds like a good theme for a country western.
Speaker A: And I think then I, I, I countered back at him. I said, well, you know, there's, there's spots. My wife used to regularly drive down to Fairfield to take my daughter to visit her grandmother. And I said, you know, there's, there were spots where, you know, outside Woodland, there'd be vast stretches where she didn't have a cell phone signal anyway.
Speaker B: Hey, is that around Esparto? I used to have a friend there.
Speaker A: No, I'm not exactly sure. I'm not exactly sure. And the, you know, the need to have your telephone guide you to where you're going. You know, I actually, you know, I do use that on occasion just because it's a, you know, it's convenient to do that. But most of the time, I'll make sure that I look at a map first before I'm going, so I have a clue as to the general route that I'm going to be taking.
Speaker B: That's a good idea. I have heard about a guy who flipped over his pickup. He was a ham. Took him all day calling Simplex. Finally somebody heard him. So that's, that's encouraging. So, by the way, do you ever come this way to Chico? There is a breakfast I like the guys, you know, gears over here and there's mas grandes chitas there. They all talk about it. Okay, but you ever come this way?
Speaker A: Oh, not very often. Not very often. Listen, I'm going to pop out really quickly to mail. Put something in the mail. I'll be right back.
Speaker B: Okay.
Speaker A: I'm just sitting here.
Speaker B: I'll continue. Well, you know, I could talk.
Speaker A: It's fine.
Speaker B: Don't have a problem with that. I got a new toy here. I know nobody cares, but base I've
Speaker A: been at
Speaker B: plays really great, but, you know, you have to have strong hands to play bass. But I certainly like some of these artisans that have a bass and play. It's very creative. You know, the bass line to listen to. I particularly love the walking bass style. Some guys really master that. They use more chromatic movement, you know, through the baseline as well as,
Speaker A: you
Speaker B: know, arpeggio chord structure, all that. So anyway, N6Iwhere I hear that's me. Anytime you hear that sound.
Speaker A: W E6A X N repeater. So the reason that I had to. To get out and drop off a letter here was because I couldn't mail
Speaker B: it at the post office yesterday because
Speaker A: they had removed the drop boxes from outside the post office.
Speaker B: That's. That's a good issue for a ranch man. Let them have it.
Speaker A: I would like to talk to the postmaster and find out why in the world. And then, you know, they didn't give any other options. I guess the only other option is that you have to go inside the post office during business hours to drop off your mail. And, you know, the point of the drop boxes outside was so that you didn't have to go there during business hours.
Speaker B: Well, the other part of this is try to find deposit boxes. You know, where are they? At the post office, and they're not there anymore.
Speaker A: I know of one on my way to work, and I'm surprised it's still there. And with the fact that they removed them from the post office, I'm almost, you know, anticipating seeing this one removed also. But, you know, who would. You've got a point. That's a good subject for a rant. And, you know, maybe I'll make that one.
Speaker B: I wanted to start a rant about stupid people, and I mentioned this to my son. Hey, you know, I really want to do this. How stupid people can get and blah, blah, blah. Give some examples. And he said, well, dad, you better put yourself in there.
Speaker A: Well, you know, at certain points in time, while I'm sitting here talking about somebody, you know, it does occur to me, Chris, you're. You're part of that crowd. So I get it.
Speaker B: You know, I. I used a little contractor for dick job, and the guy was such a jerk. I just could not believe it. I mean, I could not believe how he, you know, is a professional businessman, right, when he's just a freako. Anyway, we had, you know, a couple words where he wanted more money. And I said, well, it should have been in the contract anyway. I didn't write any review, but I saw one later. Same guy and this woman, she just tears him up and says the guy's a jackass. If I only had read that prior to the business.
Speaker A: Yeah, be nice to be forewarned sometimes. Hey, listen, I pulled up at work, so I'm gonna grab my stuff and get inside and burn up another workday till retirement. Today should be 37. And then I have two vacation days that I'm taking this month before I actually lose that time. So that actually makes it 35 work
Speaker B: days and two vacation days and a wake up. Well, just stay real. Everything will work out.
Speaker A: All right, talk to you later. Have a great day. 73 KK6VZD clear. Hey, Chris. Did you guys meet at Rumpy or something after, you know, retirement get together? Let me know. Roger. Roger. Will do. And good morning, 73.

Speaker A: Got home from work, we got the camper covered and so we got the tarp over and then we have the regular cover that we put on just for an extra layer of protection. So we got that done. So, you know, thanks for asking. I am feeling good. Bring on the rain.
Speaker B: Yeah, I don't know if I'm quite as ready. I don't know if all my hatches are batting down quite as tight, but they're batting down decently tight. So I'll take it. Hi. Hi. Well, good morning. I'm going to tell you just so that I don't get slapped by the ruler from you, my mom is not listening today.
Speaker A: She will be back later on and
Speaker B: will be on probably tomorrow.
Speaker A: Hi.
Speaker B: Hi.
Speaker A: But I am going to say good
Speaker B: morning to my grandson Jordan, who I know is listening. Good morning. He is doing amazing in electrician school. He is now residential certified and I've actually already taken advantage of his knowledge and had him come take a look at some wiring in my own house that I need to have fixed and he already has diagnosed the problem and we'll be repairing that shortly. So Jordan, I am so proud of you. I love you and keep doing great. Other than that, thanks for being there Brian.
Speaker A: I appreciate this vet.
Speaker B: It is definitely part of my regular day. Exciting stuff going on in my world recruiting wise. But I'll talk about that at another point. Other than that, everybody else out there in cock and break that land, have an amazing day. Take care of yourselves, take care of each other.
Speaker A: KV6 luv. Be of love.
Speaker B: 73 clear and listening.
Speaker A: Alexa. Congratulations Jordan, on your journey through journeyman school to be electrician and now residential certified. How cool. And yeah, now he can help out anytime you have a question about a wiring or a grounding issue. This means that he probably can pass the technician license pretty easily with all the studying he's doing clearing with KV6 LUV. We'll look forward to tomorrow with Bonnie checking in. You have a wonderful, wonderful day. And good morning to Carl in 6 CKV.
Speaker C: Good morning Brian and everyone else out there. Not much going on today. Have a doctor's appointment to go to. Other than that I forgot the days, the national days. I thought I was going to have a comment on one but I don't remember it. So back to you, Brian.
Speaker A: Well, I'll just run through them quickly. Today is National Cribbage Day. It is Umbrella Day, National Flannel Day, Safer Internet Day and Teddy Bear Day.
Speaker C: Oh yeah, Umbrella Day.
Speaker A: When I was going to school in
Speaker C: Corvallis in The fall, everyone would pop out their umbrellas and about four or five weeks in there'd be a storm with the wind and it'd make all the umbrellas dead. Umbrellas and they'd be just poked into the bushes all turned inside out.
Speaker A: Oh yeah. Back in the days when they didn't know how to build umbrellas. You know umbrellas now, they can take that beating. They can flip inside out. You can turn them back right side out. Pretty amazing. The technology changes though. I don't own. I don't even think I own an umbrella. I'm gonna have to look under the seat and see if I actually do. I don't think I do.
Speaker C: No. I just got out my hiking gear and wore that instead of an umbrella. The tips of the umbrellas, because I'm so tall, I always try to poke my eyes out. So I didn't like umbrellas at all.
Speaker A: Yes, umbrellas and strollers make great weapons, that is for sure. No, it. Living up in the northwest, it was an easy way to tell a local from the visitor. The visitor had the brand new umbrella.
Speaker C: Yeah, at osu it's the ones that weren't turned inside out. Anyway, that's all I have everyone.
Speaker D: Have a good Tuesday.
Speaker C: I gotta get myself going. Thanks for running the net, Brian. 73 and hi to Lynn and 60 KV.
Speaker A: Well, thank you, Carl. You have a wonderful day ahead. And good morning to Ruth and we'll catch you again tomorrow. Clearing with N6 CKV. And let's check in with November 6th. Papa.
Speaker E: Papa.
Speaker A: Papa. Good morning, Chris.
Speaker E: Good morning and thank you for doing the net. I do appreciate the warm welcome on the east coast over here. We are just hitting 32 degrees for the first time in a long time and we're going to bump our way up into a blistering 42 degrees. Just enough to melt the snow and have it freeze into ice overnight.
Speaker F: So
Speaker E: I guess it's good and bad
Speaker A: all at the same time.
Speaker E: Nothing crazy here. I just wanted to try check in and say good morning to everyone and yeah, I will keep things rolling. So back to Net Control N6PPP. Enjoy your day.
Speaker A: All right, thank you, Chris. And yes indeed, those partial thaws with the refreeze definitely can make some ice that will stick around for a long time when it gets insulated underneath the ice. So yeah, that was always a sign for me to get the snow shovel out and get it cleared as much as you could. Otherwise it's going to be a one heck of a job after this. Have a wonderful day there, Chris. Thanks for checking in. N6 Papa, Papa, Papa. Triple B AI6 US Coffee Breaknet and Mike. Good morning, KN6USH where might you be this morning and hope you're having a wonderful day.
Speaker G: Yes. Good morning, Brian. Good morning everyone. Mike. P6USH I'm making my way through Cap City Freeway and I think everybody went to work today because it's slow and go.
Speaker A: Oh, yes. Today is that first day back after super bowl for many people.
Speaker G: Yeah, hopefully they recovered from their hangovers and are aware of what's going on.
Speaker A: Well, hopefully you don't run over many speed bumps. Well, good morning, Mike. What do you have for us this morning?
Speaker G: Oh, let's see. I don't know. Flannel shirt. Yes, I've always had a flannel shirt, one of my favorites. So I got a couple of them there. I haven't worn them lately, but usually when I'm home or around just kicking it around with a nice warm flannel shirt just makes it feel good. And to talk about crock pot to just, man, I want to go home tonight and dig it out of the. Wherever it is, I gotta find it because that's gonna be something to warm the weekend in this cold weather.
Speaker A: You know, there's nothing quite like a good stew or chili or something that just sits in that crock pot filling the house with delicious odor. Hopefully delicious if you're at the right house. You know, I wonder how many crock pots were put to use this past weekend. I betcha a lot were out there for, for the Super Bowl Chili's and such.
Speaker G: Well, I know truck drivers use crock pots and they just plug them into the truck while they're driving down the road and when it's done, they got a nice meal at the end of the day.
Speaker A: Yeah, I know we refer to things as crock pots, but yeah, slow cooker. I just looked up to see what the cost is for a 12 volt. I know most trucks now have inverters on them, but I didn't even think about having a 12 volt crock pot. That's kind of nice in the RV.
Speaker G: Well, yeah. Started up in the morning. I don't know. Dinner be when it's done. I mean, dinner be ready when it's done and it's just something to look forward to. But yeah, I'm gonna have to dig that out and get something going in it.
Speaker D: Tasting.
Speaker G: We have a variety of foods that we like. Turkeys and I had great, great. Oh God, what was it? I can't even Think right now.
Speaker A: Guess you should have eaten more of it. You're kind of lacking from brain power right now. No, the way that I would heat up when we would snowmobile a lot, I had up a canister on my exhaust manifold that holds a tin can. And so you pull the label off of it and put your chili or your stew, crack it open so it doesn't explode or poke a little hole in it with a knife and then enjoy your snowmobiling for a few hours. And then you have some nice hot stew or chili. And yeah, everybody goes, does it taste like exhaust? Well, no, no, if it tasted like exhaust, I had an exhaust leak. There's something worse going on.
Speaker G: Oh, absolutely. Yeah. It was a nice meatloaf that we had the other night with some lumpy mashed potatoes and a nice salad and some peas. But yeah, that's one of my favorite. Meatloaf is so good.
Speaker A: Boy, that sounds like a good home cooking meal. Meatloaf and mash and peas. Boy, that, that sounds good. Mike, you have a wonderful day and drive safely. Watch out for all the other crazies out there.
Speaker G: I will do. And everybody have a wonderful, safe day also. This is Mike K6 USA 73.
Speaker A: All right, Mike. And want to find out. Maybe we'll talk at Friday night's club meeting. I want to find out how your home station is coming along. Clearing with KN6USH. And good morning, Anna. KD3AJN. It sounds like you're possibly going through a partial thaw back there in Pennsylvania,
Speaker E: Home of the original 105 with a PL tone.
Speaker A: Oh, did we lose on a KD3 ham? Join us for our weekly net on
Speaker E: Monday nights at 8 p.
Speaker A: Hopefully she didn't go out to get the newspaper and flip and fall. Oh, hopefully she's doing all right, but we'll put her in the log as an in and out. Good morning. Coffee breaknet on the W60K repeater. Let's do one more quick round of in and outs as you see your Tuesday.

Did I miss anyone? All right, Tim, maybe you'll be closer to your node when we come back to you barely making it in W8LDT. All right, let's go with this list. Just a reminder, these are quick in and outs. Good morning, Will. KJ5 Golf Whiskey November, Oklahoma City. Good morning.
Speaker F: Good morning, Brian. Yep, this will. KJ5 Golf. Christina Web it's going to be cooler today. Going up to high of 64. It was 81 yesterday. Nearly tied or broke a record for the high temperature. Yesterday the record was 84. We nearly got there. So anyway, it is going to be about 20 degrees cooler today. So it's gonna be nice. It's gonna be nice. This is KJ5 Gulf Whiskey November.
Speaker A: Unbelievable. Unbelievable temperature for Oklahoma City in first part of February. That is crazy. But yeah, sounds like more normal temperatures are headed your way. Well, good morning, Will.
Speaker D: Any.
Speaker A: Anything will get you out and about today.
Speaker F: Now, I had to reschedule my nail appointment. My ride has some other things she had to do. So we're gonna have to redo it for possibly next week. So anyway, that's the story.
Speaker A: All right, Will. Well, I'm glad your, your schedule is flexible and, and you have a wonderful day. Whatever. Now you got some free time to do whatever you want there. KJ5 Golf Whiskey November. You have a great day. 7 3.
Speaker F: 73 Brian. This is KJ5 Golf Whiskey November.
Speaker A: And let's check in with Ray, see what Ray is up today and if they left any blood after Yesterday's leech drawing. KK 6am Good morning.
Speaker D: I didn't have any of them yesterday. In fact, I got a couple days in between appointments basically because of how far all of the medical facilities are out on appointments. I'm kind of surprised.
Speaker E: Hmm.
Speaker A: I wonder if that means doctors are taking more vacations or more people are seeking medical assistance right now. Oh, very good. I, for some reason I was thinking yesterday was a bloodletting day, but I guess they're giving you a chance to build up a couple extra quarts
Speaker D: or something. On a much more pleasant note, I will throw in my favorite slow cooker recipe. At least today. I don't have the parts to make it today, but now I'll have to go buy some turkey legs and some salsa because that's basically all it needs.
Speaker A: All right. Turkey legs and salsa. So do you start cooking the turkey legs and Then add the salsa. Or you just put it all in at one time and set the timer.
Speaker D: Put the turkey legs in. Little onion, little garlic, if you feel like it. In the bottom of the crock pot,
Speaker G: pour
Speaker D: one of the small containers of Frey Salz it medium. Let me warn you, that hot gets really hot and turn it on low and wait for the end of the day. And you know it's really good. Not only do you get the. Oh, and when you're done, pull the skin off and throw it away, of course, because it's going to be flabby and nasty. But then eat what you want. Make sandwiches the next day and make burritos or taquitos or tacos or whatever the next day, whatever you feel like. It's great flavor.
Speaker A: That does sound good. You know, I'm thinking instead of pitching the skins, maybe lay them out and throw them in the air fryer. Then you can have. Because I bet you they taste good. If you can get past the get rid of the slimes.
Speaker D: I don't know. I tried eating them once and it's like, nope, don't need this. They can go
Speaker A: just like the Donner Party. No, don't need protein that bad.
Speaker D: Exactly. But I mean, it's a really great way to have turkey. I mean, it's like. And during the summer, or spring, summer, whatever. A lot of the time, turkey legs are inexpensive, which kind of surprises me. You can get the smoked ones that are super expensive, but just get the raw, straight turkey legs and they're inexpensive and lots and lots of protein. What more could you ask for?

Speaker A: Turkey legs one of my favorite things even to throw on the grill in the summer. If you soak them, brine them up for a day or so before and then throw them on the grill. Turkey legs can be pretty good, that is for sure. All right, Ray. Turkey legs and medium salsa. Throw away the skin in my log. Yeah, well, you'd enjoy it. You know, the plastic tubs of fresh salsa that they have at all the grocery stores. You may have a favorite brand. If not experiment and sooner or later you will have a favorite brand. 73 KK 6am you know, I love pico de gallo and that's the hard one to come by because everybody's ID is a little bit different. But yeah, I usually if I'm going to go for just a medium salsa, reezers, you know, just something generic off the shelf. Hey Ray, have a wonderful day. Good suggestion for the slow cooker recipe. Good morning, Glenn. DOS KE06LGP.
Speaker B: Good morning Brian and the nest. Waking up, getting ready for a walk in the overcast this morning. Looking forward to the snow.
Speaker A: I'm a skier so hopefully I'll get
Speaker B: a couple ski days in when the snow is done. Flying and piano practice today along with the lessons and that's pretty much what I have going on today. Thanks for the net. This is Kilo Oscar six. Leave a golf papa out.
Speaker A: All right, Glenn? Absolutely. Boy, you know, they've had some decent snowpack up there. Not enough fresh snow, but definitely it's after this event you should have quite a bit of snow to enjoy. Have a wonderful day, Glenn. Thanks for checking in. Ko6LGP, AI6US Coffee Breaknet and good morning to Robert. Ko6KMR. Good morning Brian. Hello to all on the net. I'm going to do my usual routine today, go to the gym. Karen and I. Good Karen that is. We're going to go over to RHO and do a little look around. I'm going to ask him about some antennas and what their opinions are of antennas and this and that and then come back and start studying again for the extra class. Going to have my class tonight, so looking forward to that. And I'll see you guys on Friday at the meeting in Auburn. So bring non perishable food items for the food bank and we will be doing those collections as well. You have a wonderful day there. Robert K06KMR AI6US and good morning to Ed. KB6 Ed, happy taco Tuesday to you and Glenn.
Speaker B: Good morning Brian and Annette. It's not Taco Tuesday today. Well, it is Taco Tuesday. Of course it is, but I'm in River Valley, going to stay here for the week and catch up with my dad next week. He assures me that he's got plenty of food and stay warm and got it covered. So anyway, just going to relax around here and get some things done on this end and I just, I don't really have anything this morning. I just wanted to say hi Brian.
Speaker A: Well, hi Ed. Good to have you drop by this morning and yes, no, I mean I'm just impressed that you, you make that drive down to Sacramento almost every week and the amount of time you spend down here, it is awesome that you and your dad can get together and visit so often and you have a wonderful day ahead. We don't always have to have a big important story to share, but I know you and I have some good conversations. So we'll give you the Easy out today. KB6ED, AI6US. Have a wonderful day, Ed. You too. I do like you too. I'm glad you mentioned them. I need to pull that, pull that, pull up a couple albums in my playlist today. Good suggestion. Thanks Ed. Ki6tc. Good morning, Glenn.
Speaker B: Well, good morning Brian and good morning Edward. Good morning, Suttonette. It's a beautiful morning here, even though I haven't seen the sun. But I'm enjoying my morning. And your teddy bears. I was born in Corvallis and as a two year old I had a teddy bear. But I will never forget that teddy bear. The, the little glass eyes really attracted my attention and that's what I liked about my teddy bear was the eyes and. Well, how about that, Brian?
Speaker A: Yeah, I think I was born in a different era. My teddy bears had kind of their eyes were made out of some sort of a plastic and, and as they aged I think they got cataracts.
Speaker B: Okay, well, I want to share my discovery. I discovered something that I really like about my crock pot and that is the best way to cook artichokes. 30 minutes on high in the Crock pot and wow,
Speaker A: perfect.
Speaker B: Artichokes. I love artichokes. So there you go.
Speaker A: Interesting. I would have never thought of artichokes in a crock pot. You know, I've always, you know, thrown them in a, in a steam basket and done them that way. But I'll have to give that a try. You know, nothing beats. I don't know. I don't know if you know what people use for dipping. I know that some people use mayo, some people use butter. I'm a butter fan myself though. I grew up on mayonnaise for the leaves. But man, nothing beats an artichoke heart. It is, let's see. No, I guess it isn't that time of year yet. It is asparagus time, though.
Speaker B: Well, I had no idea because Edward just, he doesn't look at the price of anything. He just, if he wants it, he just grabs it. And so I've been wondering if it's artichoke season or not. And I didn't realize it might be asparagus season because that's another goodie. Well, I like mayonnaise with a dash of salt and cayenne pepper. And that's my dipping.
Speaker A: Well, you know, artichokes are grown quite a bit over in what, the Salinas, Castroville area. And let's see, I'm going to look it up right now. Peak season is March through May. But a second smaller. Okay, here we go. A second smaller harvest usually occurs October through November. I didn't realize that was a double harvest. I remember one time going over and camping over near Monterey and the fields when I did a walk along the ocean and you could look up at the hillsides and see all the artichokes being grown.
Speaker B: Well, these were good sized artichokes. I mean, they were just as big as artichokes get. And the wonderful thing about my crock pot, it's oval shaped and two of them fill the bottom. So I can only cook two at a time in the crock pot, but one for me and one for you. I'm gonna say seven three at this point and let you move on. Thanks for allowing me a couple of minutes. So I'll say 73 to all. KR6TC.
Speaker A: Always a pleasure, Glenn. And artichokes. 30 minutes on high in a crock pot. I wouldn't have even thought about that. I just wouldn't have thought that the temperature would have gotten high enough and for long enough duration, but learn something every day. Thanks for the invite. We'll have to share some artichokes sometime. Ki60C Ai6 US Coffee Breaknet and Good morning, Tim. Let's see if you're a little closer to your node or repeater. W8LDT. Well, good morning, Brian. I did bump up the power. My node is only about five feet from me. But I've always operated on low power.
Speaker B: So how is this?
Speaker A: Is this any better? I'm on medium power right now. Oh, no, you're full quieting into your node. No, I thought that you were maybe a mile or two away from your node. You were just barely cracking it open and quite a bit of picket fencing. So there we go. Well, good morning, Tim. What do you have for the net today? Well, sounds like I've been having problems with this lately. This node lately. So maybe I'll just leave it on medium power for a while. I'm on my way out for lunch again to my favorite hot dog, Coney Island. Tonight's our VE session. So. So looking forward to that. And that's about really all I've got going on today. Well, very good. Yeah, we had a great VE session last month. Looking forward to another one this month, but. Yeah, how rewarding. What a great day. And I have a spam. I have a spam phone call that just got sent to nowhere. Well, good morning to you there, Tim. You have a great Tuesday and have a great VE session this evening. Well, thank you, Brian. Yeah, we've got sunshine skies. What are we, 41 degrees? Dry roads. It's gonna be a good day. So with that, you enjoy yourself. Good morning to you and good morning to the rest of the net. This is W8LDT7 3, Brian. All right. I'm not sure if you have a guest along today for your Koni run, but you have a wonderful lunch and we'll look forward to Hearing about the VE session results. Good morning to you, W8 Ltd. LDT. Excuse me. AI6 US Coffee Breaknet. Hey, good morning. This is the Coffee breaknet on the W6ek repeater in all the connected nodes. And we're here every day of the week, 7:30am to 10:00am Pacific Time. Let's go ahead and take another round of check ins. If you are short on time and can only spend a few minutes with us, let me know. You need to be a quick in and out. We'll put you at the top of the list. Good morning. Taking check ins. Hey, good morning, brian. W6vjn.
Speaker B: Good morning.
Speaker A: N9muf. Delta x ray.
Speaker B: November,
Speaker A: kilo.
Speaker B: November, thomas,
Speaker A: Ko6th Good morning. All right, Good morning. Greg Ko6th and good morning to Thomas K6MJB. I believe your wife's call sign comes up on the node. Let's see. K4LGI. Good morning. I didn't catch. Are you gonna hang around, do some ragchu this morning?
Speaker B: In and out, Brian. Thank you.
Speaker A: All right, put you down for in and out. Hey, Good morning to K6DXN. Good morning. There, let's see. Yep. Good morning, Simone. Sorry, I was trying to make sense of my notes here. N9 MUF. Good morning, Daniel. Good morning, Mark. WB6BJN. Mark, is it okay if I put you at the bottom of the list? I appreciate that. Well, no, you. I can't be at the very bottom. I haven't netted 11. You think if I can make mine short there, go ahead. Okay, very good. Yeah, if you could keep it around 5, 5 to 10, I'd appreciate that. We'll put you, put you down about midway. Appreciate that, Mark. All right, let's see. Got Sam as a in and out. Did I miss anyone? Kilo november 6th west geek, quebec uniform, kn6wq. Keep getting thomp. I don't know. You didn't even show up on Supermon till now, so I don't know. I can't. Can't advise you on that one, Dan. First time up on Supermon. K and 6WQ. All right, let's see. We have one in and out. So let's check in with Sam in Denver. K4LGI. Good morning.
Speaker B: Good morning everybody on the net here. Good morning. Brian from Denver. Kind of cool this morning. I didn't really dress for this weather. I thought it'd be a little bit warmer. So I'm heading back here this morning. Morning and looks like it might be sunny. I heard you on 160 and uh, 0kld is something that nobody could get on 160. He picked up on 80 and I think it was a one way skip or something on 160 because everybody was getting through on 80 and nobody could get him on 160. And I watched the Super Bowl.
Speaker A: They may cancel the Super Bowl.
Speaker B: When you had the last month with some of the stuff we hear the NFL threatens to cancel the super bowl the last minute even if they don't comply with something there in D.C. dealing with C type stuff. Anyway, it's. Don't want to drag it out here too much. I had a couple of things I wanted to mention, but we'll let him go. I did find earbuds At Walmart last week for 1788 or something down to 988. Almost as good as my boss headset.
Speaker A: So
Speaker B: I don't know who's still on sale, but it's a pretty darn good deal.
Speaker A: See you later, K4LTI. Maybe I stick around a little bit longer next time.
Speaker B: Thank you.
Speaker A: You know, it's wonderful when you can find something at a decent price that rivals a super expensive device there. So good, good to hear that. And yeah, definitely put an extra layer of clothes on there, Sam. And yep, thanks for mentioning that. You heard me on 160. I, I was putting out a call, I think it was a Sunday or Monday and just absolutely no one coming back. And so, yeah, slipped over to 80 and 40 with much better success. But you know, some mornings it's just that way. Have a great day clearing with K4LGI. And let's see. See. Let's check in with N9MUF. Good morning, Daniel. Good morning Brian. And the Net Tuesday here in Chicago. Ann, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and we will find out if the fish are jumping. Well, very good. Not going to require you to go out and do any homework to find that one out. But yeah, maybe a fish will jump into the frying pan. Heading out for Apota today? We are very definitely heading out for Apota. One of the things my son said to me before he went to bed is, so what exactly are the plans and how soon are we leaving? Well, that's good. He was instead of you trying to get him out of bed to do something, he's encouraging you to get an early start. Awesome. Well, let you know if you have time. Hop on the repeater, let us know where you are. It's always fun to work. You absolutely will do. Gabriel really does like listening to the net. We'll be there after the that, but we'll still check in. And in terms of the days, what is this? It sounds like it's my day. National Flannel Day, National Cribbage Day.
Speaker B: Talking about crock pots.
Speaker A: I'm trying to figure out how it could be better.
Speaker B: I don't know.
Speaker A: They did mention safer Internet today, so you missed that one. No, I, I had always had lightweight flannels and I didn't, you know, it was a shirt. It was just a comfortable shirt. But then about.

Speaker A: Year and a half ago, I bought. Two years ago, I bought my first structured flannel shirt. You know, with the nice corduroy around the cuff and the collar and just a very heavy felt. And, man, that has been my favorite. You know, when it's a little nippy out, I don't grab the windbreaker anymore.
Speaker B: Growing up in Montana, it was kind of standard issue for me. And I remember when grunge came out, I had people asking, well, are you getting on the grunge scene? I'm like, what do you mean? This is just what we wear in the northwest.
Speaker A: And I like the slip of the tongue there. Yeah. The north wet. Yeah. And you know, that's another thing. A good grade of flannel has some weather, some moisture resistance to it as well. Where the cheaper ones is kind of absorb, almost like cotton. Yes, indeed. You were early onto the grungene.
Speaker B: Well, you know, if you don't take a bath, you work in fields long enough, you're in the grunge scene involuntarily.
Speaker A: They smelled you coming a mile away.
Speaker B: That they did. No. Another thing I always like about flannel shirts is if it gets a little warm, it's just you tie it around your waist so you're right, you know, you've got good protection up until about 30 degrees.
Speaker A: Yep. Now I have two of them. They look pretty much identical. And I can rotate them in and out because Lynn goes, man, you wear that shirt a lot. I said, no, this isn't a shirt, this is a jacket. But, well, good morning, Daniel. Looking forward to maybe catching you. I didn't even check what the band conditions today are or anything, but yeah, a good day in the park is better than. I'm sure you're going to follow it up with probably a trip up to the pub.
Speaker B: We'll see about that. When my wife asked about this poda, I could tell she was thinking about something. And I got handed a honeydew list of things to pick up on the way home. So the pub is a bit optional, so we'll see what National Cribbage Day. My grandmother taught me how to play it. Absolutely love it. When I think about the Internet. Safety day security is something I do for a living, so the safety portion of it is kind of a bit second nature for me. And when Comcast visits my data center in the basement, they look at everything going on, including the firewalls, and go. I see in business stuff isn't as complicated as what you've got set up here. And my Wife loves it when I get the she going, your account is going to be suspended, you need to talk to admin. And she'll roll over and go, is everything okay? Are you trying to tell me something?
Speaker A: Yeah, it's those Support calls at 1, 2, 3, 4 o' clock in the morning that she can get away with.
Speaker B: I love her. I'm not sure if I love her that much.
Speaker A: Oh, come on, we know the answer to that. Well, very good. Yes, indeed. I don't know if I made mention yesterday, but I Finally got that Dell 3040 to load up and run ASL 3. Little challenge right now. I'm still having trouble. I can get the Almond 3 GUI to come up, but none of the functions are coming up on it. So something isn't just right yet. It seems like the ASL3 implementation for the 3040 doesn't have all the features that you might get on the Raspberry. But kind of, you know, one of those little milestones of, you know, I know a lot of you guys said, oh, it's can be done, it's easy to do, but I don't know, it finally happened and I'm quite happy about it.
Speaker B: Yeah, I ran into some issues when I wanted to put my own cert on there on the Raspberry PI. Just tracking everything down and figuring out how they handled their HTTPs implementation. But I'm loving it. It's an absolute joy. And I know that the YACHT group, which is why I'm running it, is there are several people who use it. So it's definitely a joy, definitely a good thing to have. How long until the W6ek repeater you think transitions over or is that the
Speaker A: reason you're building this on the Dell now? There's a couple of things right now in the pipeline where some ASL3 is. So it can be virtual server. And I know that a couple of people have mentioned to me that they're working on projects of virtual servers with ASL3 and Patrick has mentioned it as is Frank. And so I'm just going to kind of, I'm not pushing too hard. You know, it's one thing I'm working with volunteers here and I know that me asking them to do something is asking them for hours and hours of their time. So I just want, you know, before I kind of suggest that that's the direction we go, I want to make sure that, you know, because right now we would be building everything locally and it looks like maybe some game changing things are coming along for virtual servers.
Speaker B: Well, the nice thing about building it in a VM is to installing it on bare metal is that you can treat it a little more like an appliance and it's a little easier to take a snapshot of the entire. So I'm in full favor of that.
Speaker A: Well, I know we've Talked to Patrick in 2DYI and Tom in N6H and I know that they just really haven't come up with a game plan yet on what to implement and when. But we definitely have to make the transition. We definitely have some load sharing issues and Patrick has implemented a few things to kind of help that out on the all nodesnet on Monday evenings. But, you know, we need to come up with a more of a system wide permanent solution which doesn't distribute, you know, onto multiple real nodes, you know, so it's going to be kind of an interesting proposal. And I know they've been talking about a couple things that they wanted to implement and also want to move over to Almond 3 and you know, just kind of get onto the current operating system and you know, I think it has better, better reporting and you know, data. I think the data chokehold is really something that's hurting us right now. Anyway, thank you so much for checking in this morning and we look forward to working you maybe as a PODA station later on this morning.
Speaker B: It will be a lot of fun. I don't think I'm quite ready to do CW in the field with my son, so I'm going to have to find out how this computer thing works.
Speaker A: And again, it's been a few weeks.
Speaker B: It will be a joy seven three to you in the net, Brian and nine muf.
Speaker A: All right, I challenge you to try Free DV in the field. You're taking the computer out with you already. You already have that connection between the radio and the PC. So maybe one of these times we'll just get you to take a USB microphone along with you and try and try freedb. Have a great day. Clearing within 9 MUF AI 6 US 73. Good morning, Simone. K6DXN Great to hear you this morning. All right.
Speaker C: Good morning, Brian. Good morning everyone on the net. Well, first thing before I forget, and I just looked it up to make sure. I also love my flannels and I have these flannels. I think you'll like them. They're nice thick flannel with the corduroy on the cuffs. Kind of fold them back for a different look if you want. And the corduroy around the collar look Up Legendary white tail I own. I'm probably going to buy more. They're absolutely fantastic.
Speaker A: Okay. I don't look at labels too often. I'm not a label guy. But let me tell you about the one that I have. It's called Legendary White Tails. And I got size two xt and my gosh, it's comfortable. I have two of those.
Speaker C: So you're.
Speaker A: You're not the only one, Simone. I am on to those as well.
Speaker C: Yeah, I didn't even know the brand. I didn't buy it because of the brand. Okay, Same thing. I've got three of those. Love those, man. And they come in a bunch of great colors. Like I've got some that are tan and red, you know, plaid. I got the little black and red kind of hunter looking checkered.
Speaker B: Cool.
Speaker C: When you mentioned the corduroy and stuff, it made me think of those and apparently we're on the same page. Yeah, the legendary whitetail flannels are great. I got anybody looking for an inexpensive, very portable, easy to put up antenna. I think I told you about these. My friend just shipped me from five of today. I have them available. Look, I'm not making money. I'm helping out a buddy. There are these little. They're a wire winder with a built in nine to one little droid on them with a BNC. And all you got to do is throw 29 foot, 35 and a half, 41 foot, 58 foot and you know, all the way up to one foot. I use poly stealth, the 20 poly stealth wire on mine. But you can use any wire you want. But anyway, you just roll this thing up and throw it backpack or you could use it at home. That definitely will hold 100 watts. I don't know, probably hold more than 100 watts. I just. But no problem with. Anyway, I've got like five, six of these. While I got four left. Now I got a couple of them are spoken for. So if anybody's interested in a little nine to one, you know, transformer built onto a wire winder. It's asking $25 for them. And they're built really well and I've used them. I've used them in a configuration, just 35 and a half foot of wires. What I have. And I just run straight up my little PODO explorer pole and bring it straight down, be a little bit of a slope. And yeah, the co and I've talked all over on them. So just thought, I just thought I'd throw that out there, you know, for anybody. Just Trying to get started. You're not going to spend a ton of money left. $25 for one of these and whatever wire you have laying around and it'll plug you on the air.
Speaker A: You know, Simone, I think you would make a great salesperson. I'm almost tempted to buy one, but I don't need one. I run a 64 one with the infed. And yeah, one of my favorite tools when I go out there and to Zero Noise Land. Absolutely.
Speaker B: Very good.
Speaker A: 25 bucks. Sounds like a deal. And sounds like something you should carry around in your go kit for when you go out and activate with friends or come to a club meeting. Hey, buddy, do you want to own it? Hey, meet me up.
Speaker C: Yeah, the un unplusher now. I'm just helping out a friend. Man, they're really cool. They really are well built. My friend builds a good project and there's other people that have them available on Etsy and stuff, but they're not my friends, so. Well, they met. They might be. I don't know.
Speaker B: All right, let's see.
Speaker C: Yeah. Ten parks between last Thursday and yesterday. Ten parks. Jimmy and I brave the badlands. Very interesting trip. We were out in the middle of nowhere. No cell phone service, no gps. Got lost a few times. I finally had service enough to tell Jimmy, hey, we're going the wrong way. We almost went to the Oregon border. Very interesting place, that Badlands. We're. We're doing a PODA next to a little area and there was a sign and hey, we should go get a picture in front of this sign. Maybe it's the name of the park or something. He goes up to the sign and it says, you will be shot.
Speaker A: That adds a little excitement to life, that's for sure. Very good. Where in the world would you go that you don't have gps? Okay, underground. In a mine. Russia. Where did you go?
Speaker C: No, no, I misspoke. We still had gps, but the problem is GPS will show you moving along on the map, according to Jimmy, anyway. Obviously I can't see the phone, but it needs to have cell phone towers to refresh or something because it shows a little dot like you moving, but you flip the phone around and the dot just keeps moving.
Speaker A: It.
Speaker C: It doesn't.
Speaker A: I don't know.
Speaker C: That was Jimmy explain it to you. Maps and compasses and.
Speaker B: Or. And.
Speaker C: Or, you know, the Starlink mini or something in the future. But hey, we got it done. We activated four new parks. We were the first activators for when I. I use the word park loosely. We're talking BLM land out in the middle of nowhere. It's beautiful out there, peaceful, quiet. Not a sound to be heard. But yeah, we did those four parks on Thursday, came back, spent the night at his daughter's, then went and activated a park near Reno. Like an off road area. I forgot what it was called. I'd have to go back and check. But we activated there and then on the way home we activated Donner Pass which counts as three parks and then one last stop in your neck of the woods and we activated Auburn State Recreation know yesterday we went and did a quick, you know, poda over at a Marshall. So that's 10 parts in those four days. And yeah, they're gonna be changing some stuff on the PODA thing. We found out they're not gonna, they're kind of taking away the competition which I get. They, they don't. They're not gonna no longer give credit for the most activations in a park or the first activation in the park. They're not going to take away all the personal, you know, like whatever you want to call them merits or achievements but they're going to try to get rid of the, you know, oh, I got to go back to that park. So and so passed me up. You know, I get that. I think that's a good call. Comment.
Speaker A: Yeah, some of those activation things like, you know the, like yeah, it's cool to say you've made X number of points in a park but there's saturation that happens there. Get out and explore new parks.
Speaker B: Very cool.
Speaker A: Well, sounds like you had a great, great expedition there. And yes, as far as GPS and, and map overlays, many programs will allow you to download your mapping and have it local. So yeah, it might have been just something that he didn't download his maps in advance or maybe he's using software that doesn't allow pre downloading for a local map file. But yeah, those of us who get out and do a lot of dry camping tend to do all of our mapping down to whatever scale. We think we're going to be using it and keep it on the local device. Simone, wonderful day and yes, thanks for bringing up. Yes, the flannel shirt brand is legendary. Whitetail and they are awesome. K60X in AI6US. You have a great day.
Speaker C: Roger. K60XN clearing with KI6US. Thanks for taking my check in. And he did pre download. I know you'll have to talk to him. I don't know. That's not my departure. I got us Back on track with Blind Star when I got one minute of cell phone service and said, hey, north, we need to be heading south. We did a park in the Dark and I did put up some videos if you want to check it out. Anybody interested? I put up a bunch of videos. Well, I don't know, about 10 videos in the last week on Parks in the Dark. Just shorts and stuff, so won't take up too much of anybody's time because I know attention spans these days are mighty short. So that's why I put up shorts. K60XM. Have a good one.
Speaker A: Comment? Yeah, I like seeing you in your shorts. Yes, I've been watching your YouTube shorts. Have a great day. We had a comment. Go ahead, KB6UV. Sorry for the break in. Hey, Simone, I just sent you a quick email. I'm interested in that antenna you were talking about. KV6 IUV. Brett. Back to the net. Thanks, gentlemen. 73
Speaker C: all right.
Speaker A: Yeah, for sure their contact was made. Yeah, we can go over the details. They work great.
Speaker C: Very simple, they're very compact and they're very. Thank you.
Speaker A: And Simone doubled with me. I'll let him be net control one of these days. Good morning. With Mark. So we can get him onto his other net here soon. Or maybe that other net. Maybe.

Speaker A: Boy, that's conflicting with us, isn't it? Choices in life. WB6BJN Good morning, Mark. What do you have for us today weather wise?
Speaker B: Hey, good morning, Patrick. Good morning there, Brian. No, yeah, I feel, I feel kind of bad when it go when we get back to daylight time I'll be able to go last on the list again. I'd love to do that every day but depending on, you know, how many people we have checked in, sometimes I have to go a little early
Speaker C: and
Speaker B: before my other net conflicts. So 1730, even though that time doesn't change but ours does. So it kind of conflicts until we, we go forward an hour anyway. Hey, I like stuff done in the crock pot. The only thing I do different with the turkey legs is I use the hot salsa because I like spice and when you put it in there and cook it, it takes the spice down.
Speaker C: So I would use it hot anyway.
Speaker B: And the gentleman, Jeff, that was on, no, that's not the Internet going crazy. It is going to snow. There are some big storms heading into the west. This pattern has made a complete flip, Brian. And last week we were having temperatures here in the teens. And right now just to show you that the difference it is already,
Speaker C: it
Speaker B: is already 67.1 degrees. Yesterday we had a 67.7 so we're only 6/10 of a degree off of yesterday's high already this morning. And it's, it's going to be in the 70s today and we had days last week it didn't get out of the 20s. So it's warming up east of the Rockies and we're going to get maybe some big thunderstorms over the weekend and heavy rain. And you guys, if you looked at your barometer lately, it has tumbled and there's rain coming and it could be in this pattern for another good week or two with ongoing storms for the west. And I saw that 100 inch snow possibility for the Sierras as well. Back to you and then I'll talk a little bit about the happening back here and then I'll let you go there. Back to you there, Brian. WB6BJ
Speaker A: yeah, over the last two days I think we had a high of 30.34 on the pressure and now it's down to 29.82 and seems to be flatlining right there for the last couple of hours. But yeah, definitely, definitely looks like we've opened ourselves up for a good long weather pattern here. Will, wishing you the best on the east and, and definitely sounds like you're getting A good shift of the weather coming in. Let's hope that doesn't translate into those storms like we talked about earlier this week.
Speaker B: Well, they're watching it very closely because it could and you know, guys like Will in Oklahoma get some heavy rain. We're going to get some heavy rain. Lots of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas moving into eventually the Mississippi. It looks like, it looks like the severest weather for this particular system moving in over the weekend will stay south. We will get thunderstorms but it looks like the majority of that will stay south of us. But we gotta be concerned with the next ones that come across because zonal flow, the Midwest is warming up. Daniel picked a great day to go on a POTA. It's going to be in the 40s. It's just unbelievable how this flip has taken place and it's, it's amazing to see temperatures in the 70s and I turned the heater off. The heater is no longer running that way. It'll save on the electric bill back here. Hey Brian, I'll let you go. I promised I'd keep it short and I'll do that. Good morning to Simone and good morning to Glenn and Ed and everybody, all you guys. Good to hear everybody this morning. Back to you sir and you have a wonderful day and we'll be back tomorrow. WB6BJ.
Speaker A: Well, thank you, Mark. Appreciate you checking in this morning and giving us insight on the weather and yes indeed we are, we are going to be grateful for the, for the big dump up in the Sierra mountains because that is our, that's our summer water that's getting poured up there. Good morning to you and Good morning to Sarah. WB6BJN this is AI6US for the coffee breaknet and let's check in probably just a few miles away. Well within 100 miles. Thomas KM6MJB. Good morning, Thomas.
Speaker D: Good morning. Yeah, that weather shift is no joke here. Three days ago we were still wearing jackets and today I'm doing some woodworking in shorts and a T shirt and already have a little bit of a sweat breaking.
Speaker A: And you're probably doing a heck of a lot more sweating now that you are homeowner. What projects you got going on.
Speaker D: The money making kind? Well, hopefully I started doing a little bit of a side business selling planters and shelving and stuff like that and making them out of the garage because hey, I have a garage now and I can do that. And so this particular project is actually one I think is somebody contacted me and asked me if I could build a five gallon bucket hanging planter that will hold six of them and they wanted two, so 12 five gallon bucket planters total and sent me a picture of what it looks like and I thought it was the doofiest, dorkiest looking thing ever and was about to quote them a price until I did some research and found out that they are the trendy thing right now and they're selling for like 200 bucks a pop.
Speaker A: Okay, so that has to be pretty stout and has to be probably pressure treated. So what are we talking about? Something made out of pressure, two by sixes or something? I mean, that's a heck of a lot of hanging weight.
Speaker B: Actually.
Speaker D: No, it's pretty interesting. They're made out of 1x3s. I mean, I've seen them made out of 2x6es, 2x4s, a bunch of different types of stuff, but the prevailing ones that I've seen the most of are just one by three. And so I got a bunch of two by threes, split them in half and I mean they're pretty stoutly built still. When they're all done, I'll, you know, stand on them and I'm a little over 300 pounds, so they're just holding buckets. It's weird because they only cost me about 20 bucks to make.
Speaker A: Then imagine you stain them and seal them.
Speaker D: You know, I have on a couple, but that's the best part is most of them, most of the people who are buying them want all of that themselves. So I'm literally just making these frames and putting them together. I can feel you shaking your head.
Speaker A: I agree.
Speaker D: I don't understand. But that's what people want. So I will build them what they want.
Speaker A: Why argue with success?
Speaker C: Well, very cool.
Speaker A: Now that you have a garage and you have the tools and make a little side income. That's sweet, Will.
Speaker B: Let's see.
Speaker A: What are you doing? I know this time of year you're usually starting to prep for fire season and that sort of thing. What is keeping you busy in the EMS world?
Speaker D: You know, to be honest, I'm probably
Speaker C: not
Speaker D: doing fire this year. I just, I really enjoy our little neighborhood and everything and don't really want from it all that long.
Speaker A: Alrighty. Did you break this bad news to your wife? She may feel differently.
Speaker D: No, she's okay with it. She likes me being home too. We probably built ASL3 and everything. Oh, I honestly cannot count how many times we redid all of it. We ended up buying a flat. So the first AIOC we bought was a project. So I had to solder all the pieces. So Christine and I started to solder. So when that wasn't working and we went down to all of the potential, you know, ran down every possible thing, we went, okay, well, maybe we just messed it up when we soldered. So we bought a second one and still couldn't get it to work. We bought extension cables and ferrites, and you name it, we gave it a good go. Tried it on like 4 or 5 different hts, including some of our yaesus, like a FT65, and just could not get it to work. And finally just looked at each other and went, why are we killing ourselves? Let's get a win. And so we bought a pie hat.
Speaker A: Very good. I don't know if you did the same thing as I did. I just went on Amazon and gotten a pie hat, and I've had good success with it ever since in a nice metal build. And it's just affix with velcro to my PI and it just works.
Speaker D: 100% what we did. I went online, found one that just plugs into the existing PI, and we had to go through and make some changes. We're still playing around with some of the tweaks and, you know, there's a learning curve in using it and everything. But the fact that from the point of unboxing it to keying up and talking was a grand total of five minutes was a huge relief. It just worked. Works. It's currently attached to an external antenna that's a magnet mount. The magnet mount that I started my ham radio career with in my truck or my car to a cookie sheet in the attic. And it works. We can talk on an HD everywhere around the neighborhood and even a little bit farther out, but it doesn't get so far that we're really worried about doing too much with, messing with other. It works. That's the thing. It works.
Speaker A: You know, it's so awesome when you build something and it works, but sometimes, you know, it just,
Speaker D: you know, it
Speaker A: just hurts if you bang your head into the wall too many times. So I would say you've gone for the win. Excellent. Well, glad to hear you guys checking in. I heard, I heard your wife on the other day in the afternoon, and we've had you checking into the net a couple times. Great to have you guys back in regular and saying hello. Km6mjb. I'll let you to your daily activities and you have a wonderful day ahead. And good morning to Christina.km6mjb,ai6us. Good morning, Greg Ko6th what do you have for the net this morning?
Speaker C: Good morning, Ryan.
Speaker B: Good morning everyone.
Speaker C: Greg Ko6th started out nice and sunny.
Speaker B: It's starting to get a little cloudy outside.
Speaker C: So maybe Mark Bright, maybe there is something coming here.
Speaker B: Yesterday was a great day.
Speaker C: Did some work on the boat and took it out a little bit a couple times around the harbor and back into my new slip, which is just next to the old one. But it's supposed to be an easier place to get in and out of. When the wind is blowing, it blows in the right direction. So that was a success. I actually didn't bump in anything, which is always good. And the boat is floating. So anyway, got a bunch of measurement stuff done and what else? I have a few things. We'll see. There's a porthole, whatever they call is leaking. I did some stuff on it last time and dumped some water on it this time and it doesn't seem to be leaking anymore. So we'll see if that, if that holds. And in the meantime, in the shack I've got the power supply, the one that have been wanting to take a 12 gauge to. And I think I know what's going on. I'm not thinking. Well, we'll see. We'll talk about it tomorrow. And in the shack KOXT in the
Speaker A: shack, second and fourth Wednesday of the month on the Zoom Room. So if you would like to drop in and hang out with a Zoom Elmer session and just kind of a fun roundtable talking about projects and showing off what you're working on, drop on by tomorrow evening. That's called in the Jack and you can get to that by going over to the club webpage w6ek.org whiskey6echokilo.org and check into the Zoom Room front page, upper right corner, there's a link to join Zoom meeting. So in the shack tomorrow evening, 7:30pm Usually goes for an hour and a half or so and you can come and go as you please and participate and share any projects or just have a great conversation with people on projects they're working on. Well, Greg, I gotta tell you, I love sailing, but I hate docking. It's one of those things where maybe if I went over and hung out in Europe and did the canal boats for a while, I probably would be more. It'd be more enjoyable. But I love sailing on the open water. But I always get very. I have a lot of anxiety when I come up to dock. It doesn't matter if there's wind or current or nothing. At all. So you took part in the stressful part of sailing.
Speaker C: Yes, indeed.
Speaker B: You're moving something that weighs 10,000 pounds.
Speaker C: Actually more than that. And it has very. And it's not tied to anything like wheels and, you know, with friction. So you've got. You're going sideways, you're going. The success seems to be getting the turner and then using the prop walk to control things. There's a finesse to it. The boat transmission just. It just annoys me. Between it and the diesel. I am still looking forward to getting rid of that drive system, getting something more responsive in there. So we'll see how that goes. That's a phone call I gotta make today is to start that process moving and. Yeah, so anyway, it's a long process. I did enjoy being out on the water, so that was good. And then, yeah, in the shack is going to be a therapy session between me and the power supply. So we'll see how that goes. Anyway, on with the day. Batten down the hatches, make sure your batteries are charged and we'll see what happens this week. Looking forward to Friday as well. Good, good presentation, I think, coming and do digs. So we'll see what happens there. Hopefully too surprising. At least we'll find some good surprises, I'm sure. KO60H back to you.
Speaker A: Well, if you're not fearful of drilling, of boring a hole in your bow. I've always. I've just, you know, anybody who has a thruster on their boat, I know there's, you know, a certain size that you really don't want to get into it until you're a larger boat. But it really depends how much you have above water and below water and, you know, what your. What your docking is. But I've been on a couple of boats and just watch people maneuver their boats into slips and with their thrusters and. And it's just like, oh, if only I had one of those. Not that inexpensive. But certainly if you're going to be digging into that thing and putting in maybe electric drive and such, you might just look at the cost of. Well, it's out of the water to put in. Even a small thruster can come in quite handy. Very good. Thanks for the segue on the club meeting.
Speaker D: Yes.
Speaker A: This Friday evening new digs open house. This Friday evening's.

Speaker A: 7:30pm at the Placer County HHS Conference center in Auburn. DeWitt center, easy access. Come on out I80 to Bell Road and then head on back into town on Bell Road. It will get there very quickly. You don't have to deal with any traffic in Auburn. Very good. Look forward to the presentation on Mesh by Jeff N5JEF and yesterday we did a little work in the vault. We had a little interference from the mesh core coming into this repeater and so we went in there and I don't know what we did, but it went away.
Speaker B: Oh, those are the fun ones. When things go away and you don't know what. When bad things go away without you doing anything because you know they gotta come back.
Speaker A: Careful there, Will Robinson.
Speaker B: That could be, that could be exciting. Yeah. And this last topic be more talk. Talking about crock pots. And the crock pot is out on the counter. Thank you for the discussion. I now know what I'm going to make for dinner tonight. This intriguing two item recipe chicken and Italian salad dressing. You put the chicken in, you pour the salad dressing on top, you plug it in and you got there ko6th on with the date.
Speaker A: I assume this is oil based Italian dressing.
Speaker B: Oh yeah, just yeah, normal stuff. They've already pre mixed with oil otherwise. Yeah, that could get kind of sticky. But give it a try. It's intriguing enough and I think the chicken is defrosted enough that it might just work. Hail 60h
Speaker A: and if it's not maybe an hour more in the slow cooker, we'll get it done through and through.
Speaker B: That sounds good.
Speaker A: Give us an update on the slow cooked chicken and Italian dressing. You have a great day. Greg. K06 Thai6US Coffee Breaknet Good morning Dan. KN6WQ.
Speaker C: Good morning Brian and the net. Man, this net is making me hungry. All right, all right. Well I'm on my way to Plumas Lake. I'm over here on 99. Head north.
Speaker B: Let's see.
Speaker C: Just gonna go do a radiator and MDX this morning. But yeah, so when I, when, when we have pile ups on the coffee break in the morning, especially when I'm on the Cuban cigar note, it's a little so to key up. So if somebody keys up and keep front of me it's a one way situation, it just kind of, you know, forgets it and doesn't, doesn't even show up on Supermod. So when I let go I knew somebody was talking. And it was a 5050 chance either.
Speaker B: Yep.
Speaker C: You saw me key up or nope, somebody keyed up over me before I could see the radio. So that's how that works. But yeah, let's see, we're still, still
Speaker B: have no ac, so no heat. I mean we do have heat.
Speaker C: It's at 73, but that's as high as we can get it to go. If we go any higher than that, then it shuts the system down on high pressure.
Speaker A: So we were supposed to get a
Speaker C: call yesterday from the good old manufacturer of Bravo, but they haven't sent a message back. We're going to call in again this morning, find out what we're going to do next. Hopefully just replace the outdoor unit so we can move on. Let's see back over to you for now.
Speaker A: You know, I am thinking in your simple USB setup on this node, check what your CT CSS from is set to because it may, you know, maybe it's not allowing you to transmit because there is a carrier present. So I think it's CT CSS from I think was the setting. But anyway there's a setting in there so you can just ignore and it will still engage also on your radio, you need to allow it to transmit even if there is a carrier present. Quite often that's a setting on the radio as well. Well, very good. You have a great day. I'm going to have to look where Plumas Lake is. I've heard it, but I don't think I've ever been there.
Speaker C: So Oroville is another good name for it. So Oroville and Plummet Lake, they're kind of like neighbors. So that's, that's a pretty good place to kind of know where it's at. It used to be a big old rice field and now they've turned it into a whole bunch of homes kind of like they've done, you know, in the Thomas and such. So, yeah, so I'll look into that. I did have the tick off, you know, allowed transmit if busy, you know, on the, on the 950 Pro. But yeah, checking the CPCSS. So like if somebody keys up the little Baofeng Mini, you know, this inside the cubic CCR note, then it'll. It will allow me to key over that. So it doesn't even matter what it is. So it seems like it takes residency over that. So I'll definitely look into this and see what we can do. All right, well, I think that's all we got to say today. I'm definitely going to try that Italian dressing recipe over the chicken. I was just telling Heather we should do that tonight. And we use Italian dressing in another way. We actually use it over asparagus. So that's really good. So that's how I eat asparagus with Italian dressing and a little bit of butter, of course, because butter makes everything better. This is KSX wq.
Speaker A: Butter and bacon. Add something special to life. Italian dressing over the. Do you actually prep the. The asparagus in the Italian dressing or just something over the top post cooking?
Speaker B: Yeah.
Speaker C: So we get hidden valley. So we just throw hidden valley and you know, a big old chunk of butter inside of a pan toss. And, you know, we kind of chop up the. Not chop it up, but leave them in stick, you know, but kind of the lower roots and stuff off of the asparagus, throw it in a lid and just let her go. And that's about it until they get nice and soft. They're kind of not too soft, but they're not, you know, they're not like runny and they're still crunchy. So it's got that Italian flavor to it. So it's really good. So. Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker A: Now that sounds really good. Absolutely. Cooking it in there and it will absorb some of that flavor. Sounds really good.
Speaker C: Absolutely.
Speaker A: And yes, I agree with you completely. Nothing worse than slimy asparagus. Hey, Dan, wonderful day to you. Thanks for checking in this morning. Good luck on your job today. And yes, this net makes me hungry as well. Kn6wquai6us.
Speaker C: Everybody have a great day. And it is nice and foggy around right now. This is king at 6wq tim3all
Speaker A: well, we've had indirect. We've had direct sunlight. We've had indirect sunlight. And the cloud cover seems to be getting a little more deep here up in the. Up in the foothills. So, yeah, we definitely are moving into a different weather pattern, that is for sure. Good day to you. Good morning. Coffee breaknet on the WS6EK repeater. Do a round of quick in and outs. Anybody want a quick in and out? And then we'll try getting back in some rag chew here. Quick in and outs for the coffee breaknet on the W6ek coffee break net. Km6l y w craig and cool. All right, let me take care of something here. Ke0yjj. Are you monitoring. Ke0yjj? Do we have a control? Operator, are you there? Okay, I'm going to be dropping ke0yjj. Tail ending everything. And it's kind of making it very difficult to run the net right now. So dropping the node standby. All right. Pardon my pardon the problems there. We just had a station keying up on the tail lid of everybody. Kind of made it difficult to capture some information here. So this is who I heard. KG6LNW. Good morning from Frank. And good morning to N6 Delta, Tango, Rick. And good morning to Craig, KM6LYW and good morning to Frank, KG9M and good after morning to Patrick, N2DYI. And I know I missed a couple people there. Who did I miss, please? Kilo, Charlie six Ere, Lima, Echo, Kilo,
Speaker D: oscar 6, india, mike papa.
Speaker A: All right, good morning, matt, ko6imp and good morning to graydon, kc6sla and doug. I see you well, no doug up on superman. Doug is now gone. Somebody from kc2 in jv belmore, new york. Were you trying to check in. Case F2 will be checking in? Kc8fqv. Are you on the kc2njv I was asking about?
Speaker C: No, I'm direct.
Speaker A: Oh, okay. Sorry about the misunderstanding there. Yeah, okay. I guess nobody was trying to check in from New York. Mark, got you on the list here. KC8F QV. All right, good morning. Remember, these are quick in and out.
Speaker D: So let's keep it to a single
Speaker A: flip of the soft egg timer. Two minutes if we could. Good morning. Good after morning Patrick into dyi.
Speaker D: Good after morning, Brian. Well, it's always morning somewhere no matter what, so I guess it's always morning.
Speaker A: Anyway, fun with USB C today and,
Speaker D: and last night I. I have a battery for my TYT MD UV380HT that charges from USB C. So a couple of nights ago I plugged it in, left it sitting there. I've used the same power supply and the same cable plenty of times before and it just wasn't charging. And so I took it off the charge, it was still dead, very dead.
Speaker A: So I was like, wait, I've done
Speaker D: this before with the same cable.
Speaker A: What's going on here?
Speaker D: So I plugged a battery bank into the battery for the radio and noticed that it charged it just fine. So then I took that same cable that this battery doesn't like and I put it on the batteries on the battery bank's pass through charging. So therefore it kept the battery charged and the battery kept the battery bank, kept the radio battery charging. But if I took that battery bank out and just plugged the cable straight in, it's like, nah, I don't like you. So I tried another cable that looks just like it and it works fine. Isn't universal great?
Speaker B: Womp, womp, womp, womp.
Speaker A: Yeah, and there's no labeling on these cables and some of them allow negotiating. Others. Yeah, it's kind of crazy, isn't it? So once, you know, USPT came along. Oh great, a new standard. Let's hope they got it right.
Speaker B: Womp, womp, womp, womp.
Speaker D: I'd say they got it farther from right than ever.
Speaker A: Hey, but at least we got rid of that stupid cable on the bottom of the iPhones. Maybe we are closer to nirvana than we think. Well, good morning Patrick. Sorry to hear about your first world problem there.
Speaker D: Yeah, it's totally a problem. I got the battery charged in the end and everything's good. Had another assisted sleep last night, so
Speaker A: actually got despite what my Apple watch
Speaker D: said, just because I got to bed late, it yelled at me for that. But I actually got pretty good sleep again tonight, so that's exciting.
Speaker C: No, absolutely.
Speaker A: Two days in a row you are going to kick butt in the world. Hey, I don't know if you heard that mention earlier with Dan with his cigar node not allowing him to key up. Did I give him the right advice about the CT CSS maybe? Or is that outbound? It just suddenly hit me. I may have given him wrong advice.
Speaker B: Well, I didn't.
Speaker D: I heard what you said, but I didn't hear the full context of exactly what was going on. Is it that he can't key up at all or is it, you know, when you try to check in and you try to get in at just the wrong time? It doesn't work because my else already transmitting system flex nodes so you can't key on top of another transmission. So I didn't get the full context there.
Speaker A: Yeah, it sounded like something in the system was preventing him from keying up if anything else was being keyed up. And he had allowed, you know, his note, his radio that his HT allowed busy transmit. And I, I know there was a setting in ASL3 that allows you to key up before the carrier drops.
Speaker D: Well on a simplex node you can never key up before the carrier drops because it's transmitting. So I'm not sure exactly where the problem is there.
Speaker A: Okay, that was interesting. I'm not really sure. I thought that he was. Maybe we'll have to find out more information about his cigar note, but I wasn't sure which configuration is working. Excellent. I think I gave him wrong information. Well, assisted sleep. Now that you have all this additional processing power in the brain, are you going to put it to any good?
Speaker D: Well, I guess I am.
Speaker A: I guess good is subjective.
Speaker D: I've Got a couple of things to do. I'm building another All Star node for a local repeater here in town. And so the guy's coming over here to drop off some hardware because I'm not handling that part, just doing the install, making sure it all works. And then we're going to get it on the repeater site probably in a couple of weeks after they upgrade the
Speaker A: firmware for the repeater controller.
Speaker D: Because apparently something about the current firmware prevents the link port from working the way it should.
Speaker C: Got it.
Speaker A: When I was asking you if you were going to be doing any good, I was referring to more of Pinky in the brain type of good.
Speaker D: Ah, yes, that I can certainly handle.
Speaker A: Very good. Boy. You are just assisting everybody everywhere with their nodes. In fact, your name, if your ears were burning when I was talking, David with Allscan, your name had come up and I just wanted to make sure that you got credit for. For passing on good information to me about his product. And he was very complimentary about you. So I know you are very much appreciated for those of us that definitely rely on your knowledge in clear nodes and All Star and Echo Link and everything else. So there we go. Future burn. And that's why. Maybe so.
Speaker D: And there's a comment I was actually just going to mention. I thought I heard a comment in there earlier.
Speaker A: Okay, yeah, talk over. Go ahead, comment and talk over the compliment that Patrick was about to accept. You know, it's kind of like rushing the stage after handing over a Grammy. Go ahead, dance.
Speaker C: I apologize. I was just trying to get in there. Patrick, sorry about your. I didn't mean to do that. Now I feel really bad. But yes, my human scar node is a simplex though, like Patrick was saying. So when somebody keys up, I can't key off over the top of it. So that's why I was kind of confused. But okay, cool. Thank you. Sorry again for butting in there.
Speaker A: Oh, not half as sorry as we are, Dan. We're just giving you our time back over you there, Patrick. Sorry, I ruined the moment.
Speaker D: No, ruins moments here. Yeah, so about the best thing you can do on a simplex node is reduce the time that it takes between when someone else remotely unkeys and when your nodes carrier drops. So if you use, you know, duplex zero or turn off all your courtesy tones and hang times, that's about as good as you can do with a simplex node. If you've got two radios, that's a different story. But yeah, so I'm doing that. Getting that set up. Hopefully we can get this repeater on the air. We've been talking about getting all starlink on this repeater since gosh, probably 2024. And we're just now getting to the point. I'm not, I'm not a club member or anything like that, but it's the best repeater in the, in the area as far as coverage goes. And they, it's really, it was just kind of sad to watch the, the they have link on their repeater and it's being run by an RF link by the same guy who does net control on Sunday nights. And he dissenses his own echo link node radio.
Speaker A: So when he takes, he has to
Speaker D: call for echo link check ins. He has to get off of his
Speaker C: radio and connect to echo link so
Speaker D: that the echo link people can hear him. I'm like, why are we doing, we could do so much better.
Speaker A: We should just give you safe houses all around the country so you can monitor the way that we're doing things wrong and help us do it right.
Speaker C: Yeah, that is kind of odd.
Speaker A: That's crazy. Well, we better keep these short.

Speaker A: Not doing a good job on this one, but glad to hear that you're going to be assisting. That would be a pain in ptt. Pain to transmit.
Speaker B: Yeah, that's kind of how it goes
Speaker A: with their system right now. So I will do what I can to make that not a thing anymore.
Speaker B: Brian.
Speaker A: Everyone else, have a great week. Got a great day coming up and a great rest of the week. Right now we are sitting at 6 degrees high of 65. It was 26 this morning, so that's a big temperature swing. Oh well, it's going to get cooler again later in the week.
Speaker C: Have a good one.
Speaker A: N2DYI73 that is I'm listening to all these temperature swings thinking man, you have to have your arctic collection out and your summer wear and change clothing at noon. Patrick, you have a wonderful day. Thanks for checking in this morning and thank you for everything you do for the the groups here. Good morning clearing with Patrick. Let's say good morning to Frank KG 9M. Good morning Frank.
Speaker C: Good morning Brian. Good morning everyone on The Net, Kilo Golf 9 Mike, Frank and Auburn. It's always hard to follow Patrick.
Speaker A: The man's a genius.
Speaker C: Appreciate all he does for the entire amateur radio community.
Speaker A: He's awesome.
Speaker D: Let's see here.
Speaker C: Got to get on the roof today and blow the lead before the rain comes. And Hamfest looking at my clock here, 45 away. So please everyone check out hamfest.w6ek.org to get more information on that and volunteer. Brian, have a great day. Keble Golf 9 Mike
Speaker A: well remember a lot of people that are on are outside the area as well, so definitely will promote as well that this is Northern California's largest swap ham swap meet and ham fest and that is going to be coming up on March 28th. So $10 for a seller spot and free admission if you're coming into to visit and browse. If you think you're going to come in and just not buy anything, boy, we will tempt you with donuts, coffee and awesome radio accessories. Frank, quick question before I let you go. I see you're checking in on Ampersand Wind server Magrathea. I don't know what that's all about, but it looks like it's part of your ASL3 virtual server implementation.
Speaker C: Yeah, I'm hoping to be able to say something about this. Maybe on In Shack. This is actually a Windows this version, this implementation. So yes, before I was talking to you on a Trixy implementation. So Linux implementation, this one that I'm on right now though is running on Windows, so a couple flavors and all part of the same system. Speaker A: use all the help I can get
Speaker B: on building a guitar here today.
Speaker A: Go ahead. We have a couple people that check into the coffee break net that build guitars and do service on them. Good company. Well, good morning Craig. I. I've been following along on your journey. You have some interesting YouTube videos.
Speaker B: Yeah, I'm trying to think of the last one. I think the, the last video I did was that the Baofeng Mini doesn't suck. I was, I was pleasantly surprised and I've always used a Baofeng and the receiver was just awful. But, but I did some tests with the Baofeng Mini and probably all over the newer Baofengs they actually have some input filtering now. So if I don't know if your wife runs the hair dryer, you can still use the radio on the newer balefang. So yeah, km6lyw on YouTube if you want to see the stats on the Balefang Mini. Not a bad receiver now.
Speaker A: Yeah I was just going to suggest that for further testing is maybe actually use the same antenna and Just use a combiner just to check the signal quality. Not that you need to transmit simultaneously, but you can get signal readings off of receive and that sort of thing. So you can have some one on one apple to apple comparison. But I found your review of the apple of the excuse me, Baofeng UV5R mini to be very interesting. Who would have thought they could have drunk a radio and put filter. Put more filters in it. That's amazing.
Speaker B: Yeah, and all for 18 bucks. You know, people want to get into this hobby, but you know ham radio operators as well as I do. We're cheap and lazy. So if it isn't cheap, it isn't going to happen. So the bail thing, mini.
Speaker A: Yeah.
Speaker B: What a great introduction to amateur radio and specifically data modes. Now that we can actually decode signals on those on the baofangs. Otherwise, I've been playing with mesh core. Jeff's been doing a great job there. I'm still isolated here and.
Speaker E: Cool.
Speaker B: I can't hear the W6ek mesh core repeater just yet.
Speaker A: What else?
Speaker B: I remember you guys are talking about thrusters and parking boats. Hey, don't underestimate a power drill. A long rod with a little propeller on it.
Speaker D: A power drill.
Speaker B: I use them in kayaks.
Speaker A: Oh, I can see Greg docking now out front with a dewalt and a 36 inch bit extension and a prop on the end of it. Don't give him any ideas. Ko60h. Go ahead, Greg.
Speaker E: So not for the
Speaker A: thruster.
Speaker E: I was actually thinking of a small
Speaker A: like a trolling motor, electric trolling motor with a good thruster, just like a
Speaker E: little bracket in the front. But people use the dewalt approach on
Speaker A: their winches to motorize a winch.
Speaker F: So yeah, there are lots of things you can do.
Speaker A: Ko60h. Craig, you got to use that brain for good, not for putting our other members in danger. Very good. Hey, good information on the mesh core node. In fact, yesterday we were in the vault working on it a little bit. Jeff had gone in to do a little service and while he was in there we started noticing we were hearing some interference mixing in with the transmission of this repeater, which is very interesting because we don't have any active receivers in the vault. So it was mixing in outside of the receiver chain. Very interesting. So anyway, I worked with him a little bit. We don't know what we did, but it's working now and not interfering. And I'm going to be putting up a mesh core repeater here in Meadow Vista. So maybe there will be a better path between you and I, we'll have to check that out and hopefully we can get you into the system.
Speaker B: Yeah, that's affirmative. And I think when we get into Georgetown Airport, I'll be connected into that just four miles.
Speaker F: Yeah, no problem.
Speaker B: But yeah, a lot of fun. I had something more intelligent to say regarding the intermodulation problems.
Speaker A: The.
Speaker B: I think Jeff said you fixed it by plugging it into a different power port. One that wasn't on the end, one that was more central. It sounds like you've got a little DC resistance on the power connector system there. But anyways, I think, I think you fixed it. I think it was the power port. Go ahead.
Speaker A: Yeah, it was an Anderson power pole distribution and it just went away when we disconnected it. Hooked it up to a separate battery bank and the interference went away. So when I hooked it back up, I didn't put it back onto the same port and the interference didn't come back. And so we put it on a power port that was a little closer to the chain of the input and one would think that that would not make a difference. But you know, Jeff is convinced that it is. I was thinking that it might be, you know, the wavelength, you know, changing. Changing the wavelength between things. But he seemed to be convinced that it was the source. So I'm, I'll go with it as long as the problem doesn't return.
Speaker B: Yeah, that's just a great example of ham radio right there. Something works and you have no idea why. That's also keeps us coming back. Hey Brian, I know this is an in and out. I will let you go. This is KM6 Lywcraig in.
Speaker A: Cool.
Speaker E: Thanks Brian.
Speaker A: Well, once again I'm going to shamelessly promote your. Your YouTube channel because I think you should have more viewers than you do because highly entertaining, some great information and well presented. Always. Enjoy km6lywradio on YouTube. And Craig, you have a great day. Good morning, Rick. N6DT. What do you have for the net this morning?
Speaker E: Well, hi. Good morning, Brian. Yeah, so a couple leftover from yesterday. I managed to get my tax returns done over the weekend and got them filed Sunday. And magically California franchise tax board managed to get in and correctly pulled out a whole bunch of money out of my account. Thank you very much. They're still efficient at taking the money, not getting it back out. Anyway, I just want to let you know that. So that's about it.
Speaker F: Okay.
Speaker A: So you dangle that in front of my face. Na na na na na na. I got my taxes done and I'm supposed to stay friendly with you in a highly respectful way. Rick, you suck. I am nowhere near getting my taxes done. Congratulations and thank you for funding the state of California. You're awesome.
Speaker E: Had to do it because you know I've got my Canon copier back here and I still print my print my own money. It's not counterfeit because I have my face on it. I do denominations of odd amounts anyway. Haha. 73 Brian, thanks. Take care. This is N6BT
Speaker A: a couple weeks ago met with some of the ham radio guys for lunch and I saw in the tip jar a $2 bill. And I looked at that, I went man, two dollar bill. I haven't seen one of those in my brain for a second. I went no, that's a $2 bill. That's real money. Rick, you have a great day and congratulations on getting your taxes done. I, I'm still exhausted but I, I wow. Kudos to you. Clearing within 6dt Good morning Frank.KG6LW I think I did your call sign wrong earlier. Good morning.
Speaker F: Good morning Brian and net.
Speaker A: Yeah you did. But that's okay.
Speaker F: You'll get it right one of these days.
Speaker A: Two things.
Speaker F: One, if Craig's still listening. Thank you for the reply email Craig. I sent a reply out just a few minutes ago here before Brian did this next round of check ins. So you have an email reply waiting for you. Thank you for that. I sent Craig an email asking how do I get these APRF icons arewolf to behave properly and he responded. I sent that before work last night and by this morning I had a response in my inbox. So yeah, there you have it. You know the usual stuff for the end of the week here. Yeah, end of the week for some Thursday night NorCal swap. 8:00pm local time. You can always catch it on what we call team replay on YouTube if you go to KG6. Yeah, I have it up there and I stream it live and then it stays put. So if you ever missed the NorCal swap and you want to go see what happened that night, whether we got a listing or five or none, it's up there. And then Fridays with Frank is coming up this Friday. It's going to be another fun one. I have a little segment at the beginning where it's either ham segment of the day, you know, ham segment of the day and I go through four different topics or railroad segment of the day, you know, some railroad conductor and all that. So you never know what you're gonna find on ham radio Wilderness With Frank with that Brian, I think that's about it for today. Hopefully my audio isn't too horrible. I remembered to bump the remote audio back down like minus 35 decibels before I keyed up. Otherwise I'm way too hot according to Patrick, so. Well, Patrick's parrot note. Anyway, KG6NLW.
Speaker E: I think that's about it.
Speaker F: Oh, and Plumas Lake, that's about 15 and a half miles northwest of Lincoln. 2025 minutes north on State Route 70.
Speaker A: So.
Speaker F: And that's from earlier in the morning for the guy that was going up there and you weren't quite sure where it was. It's just south of Yuba City on 99.
Speaker A: Part of the world that I really don't make it up into much anymore. Very rarely. So thank you. Appreciate the little geographic hint there. Yes, no, your audio is still hot but it's within range that we can adapt with it. But it almost sounds like you are maybe in. You're in the middle, middle of a work shift hanging out in the locomotive. Frank, you have a wonderful day and thanks for checking in Morning and you have a great one. KG6NLW AI6US and let's head on up to Grass Valley now. Graydon KC6SOLE. Good morning, Comet.
Speaker D: Morning, Brian. I hate to tell you this but we got the last piece of tax information yesterday and we also have our taxes done. So you got some catch up to do. Interesting visit to the Social Security building down in Auburn yesterday. Went in there. The room was just packed. I was, you have to take a number. It's kind of like DMV had to pull a ticket and I had 36 people in front of me and I'm going to, going to be a long, long wait. After about an hour of sitting there and waiting, seeing a few numbers go up, a gentleman came out and he said how many people here have appointments? How many people do not have appointments? And about 2/3 of the room did not have appointments. He says if you don't have an appointment and you don't need just a simple printout, you need to go up, schedule a program or a appointment at the little kiosk and come back another day. There were a lot of unhappy people in the room. Fortunately, all I needed was the printout. So 2/3 of the room left two slots later. I got to go up and get my printout and get the heck out of there.
Speaker A: Wow. And probably nothing in the. I don't know if the webpage suggested that you don't show up unless you have an appointment. That's kind of brutal. We had a comment at the beginning of your check in. Go ahead, comment. And they didn't have an appointment, so they left. Very interesting, Graydon. Well, I'm glad to hear your Social Security office experience went well. You weren't dismissed, sent home for another day. And yes, I'll just add to my congratulatory on your taxes. I'll apply the same to you as I did for Rick. But no, really, kudos to you for getting them done this early. That's awesome.
Speaker D: You know, the government needs the money, so glad to do it. Anyway, I know your egg timer needs to get back on track. I will say 73s to all KC6SLD.
Speaker A: All right, Graydon. Good morning to Grady. Good morning to Lisa. And you have a one. Yeah. You're awesome. You are awesome. I'm sure the roads are going to be perfectly, perfectly manicured for my driving experience. And you have a great day. Good morning.

Speaker A: Good morning Matt K06 imp. Great to hear you this morning. Anything for the net. Uh oh, maybe we lost matt k06 imp. Are.
Speaker B: You.
Speaker A: Yeah, we lost him. Good morning Mark KC8SQV.
Speaker C: Well good morning. Afternoon. Yeah, I went to the doctor today. We, they were happy with everything. I was wondering, you know I looked at the graphs on the. Well when I look at the pump I, I see the. But then I looked at the uploaded graphs that were uploaded to the server. I look at them, I was like this is not still good enough. I mean I like to get the highs down. But the doctor was you know, happy enough with that. You know the only thing we did, we changed one sensitivity or two to six. The clock one was changed from 4.0 to 4.5 we moved that up to 0.45 and the other one we moved from 0.45 to 0.40. That the only thing we did. So one was two to six and the other six to nine or something I think. But we did them two changes. I got right into it. She said I like you. You can, you can. Matter of fact a while back when she sent me, she wanted me to change it to. I said yeah, I was a little concerned about doing it. I was by myself at home and she, I said I made a second, I copied the one and in the pump you can have multiple patterns for insulin delivery. So I took in Maida too and I said to her today yeah, I made it too so if I messed up I could go back. No, that was a smart idea. So that you, you know, I did the switch and everything is good. Matter of fact when they started me on this new pump I at that.40 but one of the settings I did after because we were trying to get the insulin to do its job and get the carb numbers down or the BG numbers down. So everything else is going good. So I'm going to eat now. So yeah, I was on the freeway leaving the doctor's office. I came down the freeway and I was at a light when I jumped in there. Now we're over at the restaurant going to eat. So matter of fact the order worked out it build and everything me. So all I gotta do is go over to the counter and grab it. So we'll send it back to net and we heard you guys last night on the node net. So I'll send it back to net control. We got 47 degrees out here. KC8FQB.
Speaker A: Oh very good. Well Mark, you filled in the rest of the Story two minutes had gone by in your check in and I had no idea what the hell you were talking about. And then thank goodness you filled it in. And these were adjustments on the insulin pump. I have no familiarity with insulin and I couldn't figure out if you were tuning up an antenna tuner or if you were maybe working on your pacemaker or what. So there we go.
Speaker B: All right.
Speaker A: Glad, glad to hear. You know, it's so neat, the technology that you can adjust on the fly and the, you know, just the technology that is available now and the monitoring, the non invasive monitoring I think is one of the more important things that I'm seeing. You know, after watching my niece and other people in the family, you know, constantly be pricking their finger to do a reading before for a meal and just things are changing and hopefully it's for the better monetarily and for the psyche. Kc8fqv, did we lose you there, mark? Will, if anybody sees Mark laying beside the road, make sure you stop by and help him, help him up. We lost mark. KC8FQV AI6US coffee breaknet. All right, good morning. Coffee breaknet on the W6EK repeater. Let's go ahead and do another round of check ins. These are just going to be quick in and outs. And for the log, who's out there this morning?
Speaker D: Kilo Oscar 6, Bravo Mike Alpha.
Speaker A: Yeah, LAP Station. No, no copyable audio there. Just a squealing sound. So that was an RF station coming in. Good morning. KQ4SDX, do you copy? Kathy? I see, see you on the node, but I don't know if we're making it into the node right now.
Speaker B: Yes, I copy you.
Speaker A: All right, got you, got you down there. Kathy, we'll be right back to you in a moment. And let's see, let's go ahead and continue with check ins. I have Kathy, KQ4SDX and I have Garrett KO6BMA. Who else is out there this morning?
Speaker E: Sorry about that earlier transmission.
Speaker A: Good morning to you there. And let's go ahead and see who is out there this morning. Please let me know if you want to be a quick in and out or for the log. Okay, the last RF station you have a, you definitely have a problem with your last RF station. You definitely have a problem with your, with your radio there. You're just transmitting a tone, no audio. All right, so this is who I have. WB3CSY and Rick, are you in and out or for the log?
Speaker B: Sir?
Speaker A: Wb3csy, are you in and out? Or for the log.
Speaker E: Okay, I'll try again.
Speaker A: Brian, it's for the log. Sorry, I forgot to mention that. Back to you. All right, Rick, you have a wonderful day ahead. You are in the log.
Speaker C: KN6GAA.
Speaker A: Good morning, Frank. And good morning to Kathy, KQ4SDX. And good morning to Garrett KO6BMA. Hi, Pearl. We're going to find out if you're using your new license privileges yet, so let's check in with Garrett first. Garrett, I think you wanted just a quick in and out. Go ahead. Good morning.
Speaker D: Good morning, Brian. Again, I wanted to say thanks to you and Anders.
Speaker C: The VE team was efficient.
Speaker D: It was a pleasure to go and take the test. And yes, I've definitely been playing on HF now. More than just playing, listening and copping down calls. I've been checking into nets and finding out how far this signal really goes. I've been really having a good time.
Speaker A: Well, excellent. Good to hear that. What bands are you working on? And what bands are you able to work on? And have you worked any DX yet?
Speaker D: I've been sticking with 20 meters just because it's active and there's a lot of report facts for what I'm doing. I'm going to try all of this stuff. Of course, it all sounds like fun. All you have to do is press the button. So why not do it all?
Speaker A: Absolutely. Good. Good attitude there. Well, very good. Hopefully I'll be able to catch you on HF soon. And we were so happy to be part of your upgrade from technician to general. And well done. Well, good morning to you. You have a great Tuesday, Garrett.
Speaker D: Thank you very much. 7 3K06BMA vaccinet
Speaker A: comment? Go ahead, comment. Garrett W2VX I just want you to know that your signal goes all the way to Alpha Centauri.
Speaker D: Given enough time, I'm sure it'll even go further.
Speaker E: Roger that.
Speaker C: Turn the break.
Speaker A: And that was worth giving a break for. All right, good morning, KQ4EX. Good morning, Kathy.
Speaker B: Good morning, Brian and Matt. Good morning, dad. Ed. Yesterday I went with a couple girlfriends up to Sparta, Tennessee. That's west or east of Nashville, and we shopped a farmer's storehouse. And if anyone's interested in seeing what it's about, it's farmerstorehouse.com but it's all organic grains, freshly ground, right there, whatever mixture you would like, and many other goodies there. But it was a fun, fun, fun day for me with girls. And on the way I was talking about a necklace because my girlfriend had a necklace hanging from her rear view mirror. And I told her that my daughter gave me, that I hung from my rearview mirror that I took down because it was distracting. But I have to tell you all, it was so cute. It's actually my children and husband's first letter dots and dashes on my necklace. It was really thoughtful.
Speaker A: What a fun gift. That is awesome. Okay, I looked up farmersstorehouse.com 138 farmers, flour, grains and provisions from organic farmers. How interesting. You know, you just think of all these people that have trouble with wheat and gluten and you just wonder if they buy some of these things that are, you know, glycol free, etc. Or glycophosphate. Excuse me, Phosphate. That's wrong. You know what I mean? Boy, I wonder how much people's diets could be, could be changed. Well, very cool. Look forward to checking out that necklace. And have you deciphered with the secret decoder ring yet?
Speaker B: I have deciphered, but they, they kind of made a boo boo because there's no, they didn't do R for my son. If they do, I think they have it mixed up a little bit so I'd have to take it apart to fix it. But it's so sweet. But it's gold and I wear silver on my neck and I have a diamond necklace I always wear, so I don't wear it, but I'll find a special place in my ham shack for it. But yeah, that farmer's storehouse, what a gem. And they're going to expand into Franklin and Chattanooga and I just, I'm so excited. I can't wait for them to get to Chattanooga so I can visit them more often. I'm going to probably get back into sourdough baking. I depend on my bread from my neighbor who is Tennessee Killer Breads and she makes wonderful organic sourdough breads. But I want to make my pancakes and my pizza doughs and all that. The other topic that came up since I mentioned that necklace to my girlfriend, I found out that her husband, who has a neck injury and oftentimes sits at home as she bebops around in her little hobbies here and there, flitting about with all the ladies. He sits at home waiting for her and, well, he's interested in ham. So I've invited him to our club meeting on Thursday and I'm going to meet up with him ahead of time and, and get him started. So I am excited about sharing the love of ham with him and hopefully he'll find it Just as equally wonderful as I have.
Speaker A: What an interesting and awesome opportunity. That's cool. Definitely. I wish him well. And yes, the only downside of that is it might just mean that your girlfriend will have less money to spend on her hobbies once he starts spending on his.
Speaker B: I mentioned that to her. I said forewarning, the sky's the limit. She actually supports. So good for him. He's going to have a good hobby that's going to fill in some of that social time that he needs. So with that I'm going to get up. Boring day. I'm actually going to enjoy this boring day. I'm just kind of filing paperwork. Got to get my taxes done. Anyway, have a blessed day all. KQ4SDX73 thank you Brian.
Speaker A: Awesome to chat with you Kathy. And you have a wonderful day. So check out farmerstorehouse.com and maybe it's conversation for another day. Do you have any organic co ops in your area? And I'd be interested in finding out what organic co ops there might be in the greater Sacramento area as well that people have found Good morning clearing with Kathy, KQ4SDX and let's see one more person for In n out. Morning Frank KN6GAA great to hear you on a regular basis again. My.
Speaker E: Morning Brian and the net KN60 a interesting segue there from Kathy. I seem to remember that somebody had a sourdough starter that was going to be called a Coffee Break Net sourdough starter. I don't know if it was Christina or oh my goodness, there was somebody else completely eluding me.
Speaker A: Now I know Ryan Wu6h had given a couple of us a starter but I never heard it named the Coffee Break net so I'm kind of at a loss on that one as well. Frank,
Speaker E: that was kind of the kind of the handle of it. Nobody really officially named it but thank you guys are up there closer to each other. Lucky duckies. That's good though. I'm glad to hear the that actually that did actually go through and
Speaker A: trying
Speaker E: to figure out Social Security issues. You know I haven't done my taxes yet. I wanted to do my taxes and I'm dealing with issues with my benefits again because they think I am an employee not a self employed individual and because of that they took a huge chunk out of my check. So I'm annoyed.
Speaker A: The contractor world and yes that can be really annoying. And then you know the way that employers want to work the system and the way that we need to work the system to survive. Yeah there is sometimes no middle ground on that. Sorry to hear that. Let's hope you get it worked out soon.
Speaker E: Dog and pony show with Social Security. Usually we had it resolved in October and then they screwed it up again in January. So there's a new system called the payroll enrollment system, payroll information system, and if you get direct deposit now, they actually reported directly to Social Security through Equifax or one of the credit reporting agencies. And so somehow in there, in the paperwork, they put me down that I'm a W2, which I'm not. And yeah, it's. It's a royal mess and it keeps happening all the time. And so they're, they're actually part of my ssdi, which is really, really annoying given that the rents are up. But yeah, we'll figure it out.
Speaker A: I'm sure.
Speaker E: It's just like I said, it's a dog and pony shell. It's a dance that happens every couple
Speaker A: months
Speaker E: when you got this type of situation going. Anyways, it's past the hour. I'm not going to keep you all long here. I'm thinking of the Baofeng Mini. Somebody mentioned I might actually. But my curiosity has peaked. Like I need another HT in my life. I need a real radio. That's what I need. A real honest to goodness 2 meter radio that I can actually throw some good power behind instead of all of those Mickey Mouse toys. But hey, they're cheap and they work. So what can I say? All right, Brian, we gotta catch up later on when there's more time and, and talk of bread and all kinds of yummy stuff. KN60A.
Speaker A: Absolutely, Frank. Let's do that. Good to have you dropping in and like, love to catch up and see where life is leading you recently.

Speaker A: All right, finishing out the morning for check ins on this Tuesday. Good morning to herbert k06elz. And good morning to stephen k06ebq. Good morning, christina, k6mu. And good morning to ryan wu6h. Excuse me? Wu6h. Did I miss anyone?
Speaker B: One last comment from net, Brian.
Speaker A: Oh, you want me. You want to hold me from completing the net? Go ahead, Frank.
Speaker B: That our station that had the squeal.
Speaker A: Would you send me with some information about that later on?
Speaker B: I have an idea. On that one and it's what we've discussed in the past here.
Speaker A: Yeah, that actually just sounded like a check in for the duration to two attempts when called for check ins. So yeah, just coming in on our voter receivers through rf. So really no information that I can provide on that. But yeah, maybe it does tie something. Thank you very much though and we'll chat about it more. Good morning. Coffee Breaknet on the W6ek repeater. The Coffee Breaknet is sponsored by the Sierra Foothills Amateur Radio Club. And this is where the sun is always shining, the birds are singing and the fish are jumping. This net is sponsored by the Sierra Foothills and Amateur Radio Club. We're here every day of the week, 7:30am to 10:00am Pacific Time. And let's see with that I'm just going to go ahead and wrap things up and we will be back tomorrow on Wednesday morning. I will be the net control host and conversation facilitator. So if that influences your decision of whether you want to schedule an appointment with your podiatrist or be here, hey, I'll be here now, tomorrow. Good morning. I need to hop out of here. I'm gonna go have coffee with the, with the Meadow Vista Auxiliary Group of Sierra Foothills Amateur Radio Club. I am way late. Hopefully they saved a coffee and a pastry for me. Good morning everybody. We'll catch you tomorrow morning. I'm Brian AI6 us returning the W6Q EK repeater back to normal operation seven three all.
Speaker D: And to the station. Just inquiring about the, the squeal.
Speaker A: I believe that was me.
Speaker D: This is KK6 SMG. I'd like to discuss that if you have a second.
Speaker B: Yeah, that's Kilo Golf 6th November Lima Whiskey.
Speaker C: KO6 Echo Saloon.
Speaker D: Yes. So I was running FT8 on my HF radio and I have my 2 meter radio right above it and when I first transmitted it started to squeal and then I unplugged my computer and went back to normal and then with the computer unplugged it just like it got taken over by my HF rig. So I'm not sure what's going on there.
Speaker A: Aha.
Speaker B: Okay, thank you for clarification. Yeah, we have an issue on another machine that sounds very similar to that. And yeah, we're dealing with jamming situations in a few different machines. But yeah, anyway it was very very odd.
Speaker D: I thought so as well. KK6FNG.
Speaker A: Clear.
Speaker C: Ko 6 echo, Lima, Zulu,
Speaker A: Ko6elz.
Speaker D: Go ahead.
Speaker B: Kg6nl.
Speaker C: Yeah, my name is Herbert and this is K06 Echo Limatulu, the two transmission a while ago. Actually, I want to explain to Brian that I key up that two transmission a while ago because I press my remote on a 1750 button. I don't know what it is. I'm still having an issue with my remote here. My ICOM 9700. So I apologize if that's the issue that you are talking about a while ago. It's an honest mistake. Over.
Speaker B: Roger that. Yeah, it was definitely something. And I don't think there's any particular blame to be had here. I was just. My brain went into overdrive there. Based on pretty previous experiences with some jamming we've had on other repeaters in the area.
Speaker C: That's all.
Speaker A: No harm, no foul.
Speaker B: Thanks for everyone who came back, KG6NLW.
Speaker C: Oh yeah. Oh yeah, most definitely. Yeah. We have to take care of the repeater, of course. That's the main goal and you know, making the hobby more clear to everyone. Okay, just a clarification. Thank you again for understanding and everyone have a great day. I'm on mobile right now. My 73 tall Ko6 echo limazulu. My name again is Herbert and I'm from Nakomas driving here around the Elk Grove area. 73. I'll be standing by.
Speaker B: All right, 73.
Speaker A: Over.
Speaker C: Have a great day.
Speaker B: Kg6nlw and I'm going that away. It's time for bed.

Speaker A: No contact. Ko6bgy. I'll be clear. Was that un6iwh? You had a lot of static on your end. That could be in a bad position as well. K06vgy.
Speaker B: Yeah, I've been having some rig Trouble also. Anyway, K06VGY, M6IWH. How's it going?
Speaker A: Hey, Pete. Going good here. Copied that. You're having some rig issues. Hopefully that gets sorted out. I notice when I park here at the office, if I park too close to the building, it's staticky on my end. How's my signal coming through?
Speaker B: Oh, yeah, you sound good. Good audio, you know, you're full quieting now. Are you on a rubber duck?
Speaker A: Negative. I'm on the mobile.
Speaker B: Oh, yeah, sounds good. Sounds like you got 30 watts,
Speaker A: Right? Yeah, you're. You're way down in the weeds there. Hopefully things are going good with you starting to get the front of this little weather system that'll be moving through. It's enough to make the dirt on my car turn into mud spots. So hopefully it fix that so I can clean my car for this work.
Speaker B: Anyway.
Speaker A: What, what, what issue are you having with your rig? Are you able to figure that out or are you still troubleshooting? Pete, I think I lost you there. I'll try again probably when I get up 4:30, see if things are in better circumstances for you to copy N6IWH from K06DTY730P.
Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, roger, roger. And I'll try out another radio and fix IWH.
Speaker A: Okay, I'm here for another 10 minutes, so if you want to try another radio, go ahead. If you want to switch over to the Carla 36 as well, that could be an option too. But if you're not hitting these over here, you're probably not gonna do too good on the car. But, yeah, go ahead and switch radios. I'll be here for a few minutes. Kosh bgy, standing by.
Speaker B: Testing, testing. Do you copy, N6Iwhite?
Speaker A: Copy. Same signal as last one. A lot of static. A lot of static.
Speaker B: Okay, well, I'll work on it. Talk to you later.
Speaker A: I'm not able to take much out of that at all. Have you tried going outside, standing on one foot and hopping up and down, see if that helps the signal over.
Speaker B: What would you say? Go outside and jump up and down?
Speaker A: Yeah, see if that helps with the radio signal. We might get a little bit better propagation that way. I don't know.
Speaker B: All right, let me try that.
Speaker A: I could hear you better. That Time. But you still had some noise on you there. What have you been up to working on your scale drawings of the half tracks and all that?
Speaker B: I've been working at that actually. Right now I'm working on a bow fang, trying to see if I can get it going and looking for an adapter so I can put a 2 meter antenna on the bowfang or.
Speaker A: Good luck with that. Are you on an AC right now or are you using something else?
Speaker B: Something else. And this is a ICOM HF rig and I don't know, I'm having some bad luck. Everybody says you're scratchy, your signal's bad. Oh no, it's getting kind of rough out there, see. Testing, testing. One, two, three, four.
Speaker A: Wonder if water got in it somewhere out on your antenna line somewhere.
Speaker B: Well, the trouble is I don't use it enough. And you know, when you get the radiation in the antenna makes it run better. So this is good. Use the antenna, use the radio, Everybody's happy. Ain't that right?
Speaker A: I gave up on trying to make everybody happy. I only leave myself and I bet anyone else is of the last cause I. I don't know. But hopefully you get that sorted out soon. So that way you get back to your booming signal. Probably something simple, but hopefully you don't have to climb too high. I don't know how high your mass is.
Speaker B: Well, the, the trouble is the rotor and direction, you know, because pretty much full scale everywhere I point the antenna. But people say scratchy noise. I'm going, okay.
Speaker A: To try to get in, get in on one of the nets and see if you can ask a question on there. But that's if you can even make it through to get the person to copy what you're saying.
Speaker B: Well, I'm awful lot of trouble on a 4:40 machine. Some other kind of linking system like Carla, I forget what it's called, but over there, especially on 440 and it's a whole separate antenna. Separate coax, separate radios. Everybody's going, you're all scratchy, you're all scratchy.
Speaker A: Well, whatever you did, I don't know if you moved or jumped up and down or what, but it's still scratchy. But I can hear you better than on the last radio. Not much else going on over here. Rinse and repeat. Rinse we sit. Axm repeater.
Speaker B: Fairly new radio, $300 radio. 350. 50 watts to an end tomorrow long should be working.
Speaker A: Yeah, I, I did not get enough of what you said to make sense of what you said there, but anyway, my 10 minute break is winding down to an end here and it's only a small stretch, probably one more hour and then I'm off. We'll give it a shot again, see what's going on. Anyway, Pete, stay safe, stay warm, stay dry, and we'll talk to you soon. N6IW8 from KO6DGY 73ft.
