Speaker A: Kk6bzd mobile w e6a x m repeater. Kk6vzd ko6vz
Speaker B: Good afternoon to you. How you doing? Sorry, I didn't quite catch that. You were. You're plenty. Plenty loud when you first called but didn't go. I didn't catch that last.
Speaker A: Okay, I'm leaving Sacramento, coming up on Woodland right now. Had THP behind me, so I didn't want to be talking on the mic even though I think it's illegal. I didn't want to get caught. But he's on to something bigger and better. How are you doing, Chris?
Speaker B: I'd be worried if your mic looked like a cell phone.
Speaker A: Luckily it doesn't. River looks good over here in Yolo county, but yeah, I brought mom over for an appointment and it took a lot longer than expected. But we're homeward bound now.
Speaker B: Okay. All right. So I caught a little bit of you the other day when I was out at Sutter for going to see the tractors.
Speaker A: Yeah.
Speaker B: I was going to ask you, is that something that they do often?
Speaker A: And also a couple years ago, probably longer than a couple of years ago, there was a group that was travel on the highway going to different places on their tractors. I don't know if that was part of that.
Speaker B: I don't think so. I'm not sure if you could call this an honesty goodness official group, but they do this every year. Apparently they started Sutter High School and they go down and hit South Butte and go. And they go around the Butte and I think Bud said, Bud said they had like, they had like 60 entrants. People that signed up for there was ended up being about 35, 40 tractors that actually did it. And then they come back and then go across to the Sutter Youth Organization and they have food and they have games and they have. They have some craft vendors come in and sell things and. And they have hayrides and things and so it's. It's just I guess a fun event for. For those that like to like. Sounds like a good day at.
Speaker A: But yeah, I need to get out more. Weather's getting be somewhat better now, but how was your work day? Glad it's done in over with. I'm sure.
Speaker B: I am glad it's done in over worth over with. Yeah, they've come up with a ticketing system that doesn't really think about what you can do and what. You know, it's just. It's sort of like whenever a new ticket comes in, it says, okay, whose turn is it? To get this, and it just assigned it to the next person. And it doesn't matter where what your experience is. Doesn't matter, you know. Well, we're all located at the government center now. They pulled us back in from being dedicated to specific buildings. So, you know, it's frustrating getting a ticket just because I'm the next in line that I haven't a clue how to handle or that I don't have the capability to handle because I don't have permission.
Speaker A: Yeah, that system seems right. Seems on par for a county government. I mean, as far as the bean counters are concerned, I mean, they're getting the tickets out and assigned, so they don't really care. It's when it comes to. To the technician, it's like, okay, now you're going to have to reassign it or whatever that process looks like. And the core customer has to wait and wait and wait.
Speaker B: Yeah. Or, you know, if I look at it and I see that I can't do it, I'm not supposed to reassign it to somebody. I'm supposed to ask for assistance. And so far, asking for assistance has not been real successful. I generally have to go tap somebody on the shoulder and say, hey, I got this problem and I can't do anything. Yeah. It takes me actually going directly to somebody and asking them about it to get something done. Because they don't ever. When I put out a message, they never answer whether they can do it or not. That's a mess.
Speaker A: I know. For our IT department, whenever, like last week or whatever, our printers died, so we put in an IT ticket.
Speaker B: They actually, they're pretty good.
Speaker A: They'll send us an email immediately, oh, so and so has been assigned to the job. And you see each email, all the notes they put in, they're somewhat quick. I mean, they're not the quickest because, I mean, we're still talking county it But I can't imagine what you guys had as far as the system back then was worse off than what they had now. I mean, you think they revert back to what they had before? I don't know what you guys did if they just got assigned based on who could get the work done or what.
Speaker B: Well, we used to have people dedicated to the different buildings and the different departments, and depending on, you know, who submitted the ticket, that's who it would go to. You know, I supported the sheriff and the jail and the district attorney and probation. So any of those tickets popped up, they got assigned to me because I'm the one that, you know, was over there to handle them and knew what I was doing in handling them. You know, there was the times when I had to call somebody else and say, you know, this is above my capabilities. This is. This is more in your court, so could you help with it? But, you know. Yeah, I know that they're trying to get everybody in there more universally capable of supporting the entire county. But you know what? That's not really real. Yeah, you're always going to have somebody that knows more about one department than somebody else.
Speaker A: Yeah, it sounds unfortunate, but anyway, I'm going to go and let you go. You're starting to break up a little bit. I'm probably catching a lot of these buildings and reception isn't too good. But we'll talk to you a little bit later. We might catch you on. See, today's Monday, so we'll probably catch you on the net. Hopefully. Anyway. K06BGY all be cleared. Your final Chris. 73 safe travel.
Speaker B: All right, same to you, and we'll talk to you later. 73 KK6VZV clear.

Speaker A: Hello world. 86 POC mobile in Rotor Park. System 26 lift up. Let me make sure I got that right. N6IW8 from D6 dot mobile. Hey buddy, this is Adam over here. Traveling up the 101. It just started down for when you were talking, so I had to crank up the volume to talk to you. How you been?
Speaker B: Oh, I'm okay. Name here is Pete, Papa, Echo, Tango, Echo and Chico. And where you headed? You headed to work or headed home or what?
Speaker A: I remember you meeting Chico. Yes, I like the event at home I worked a night shift for Peach. During the day I'm a tower guy. Do a little structural engineering, a little construction, a little tower climbing. We actually had a job on Friday. I don't know if you heard about some lightning strikes down in Santa Rosa, but one of them took a direct hit to one of the towers that I got a hand in and it smoked all the wireless broadband equipment on that tower. It's pretty good show. Did the deer and the lighting mid the tower. It blackened everything. Put a really cool little pattern too.
Speaker B: Oh my God. It doesn't sound too good. Hey, I have a question. Have you ever been shocked? Really bad shock?
Speaker A: No, not that I truly remember. I can tell you I've been across 48 bolts before I came across AirBN. Across 120 and never been RS birds. But I've been on plenty of towers, hot antennas and I felt a little warming sensation going on. But let me be straight up where you can see those are in San Francisco and those are 50 kilowatt antennas on SFAM. So they are. You know, I set the breed apart.
Speaker B: Oh yeah, well, dealing with electricity scares me really. I've had times where I've taken apart
Speaker A: the
Speaker B: utility box, the meter, you know, to change a relay. I was scared,
Speaker A: Familiarity with it. But I wouldn't get some place to help you get hurt. Just take the living hell out of it. Put on some rubber gloves, use some insulated tools if you want to go to work. I seen breakers and panels that are live and what have you. It's not too freaky. Couldn't think of anything really surprising. Nothing's really coming to mind. I do have a job coming up during a couple weeks making an automatic transfer switch at one of the local radio stations. One of their three phase quick pick a dump. It's only 25 years old, so I got another one and away we go. You know, they want that walk as fast as possible. Total downtime is probably going to be about 20, 20 to 30 minutes. But of course you got these fill the night on Saturday.
Speaker B: Yeah.
Speaker A: So are you headed to work now or are you headed home? Ed is home. I work the night shift for PG. So 2 to 10 is what we call it all about 10 minutes in the house or. So it's a good 40 minute drive from where I work in Petaluma to where I work in Santa Rosa. When I rode my bike, it was closer to an hour and a half. I enjoy doing it. I just don't have three hours a day to pedal anymore. Well, we're getting a pretty good rainstorm down here. What's it looking like for you? Are it's raining.
Speaker B: Not real heavy, but it's. It's wet. And then a few days ago, like last week, I'm trying to think maybe last Thursday we had rain, snow, it was really coming down. It didn't stick, but. Pretty crazy for Chico.
Speaker A: Well, you know, my sister was there for two years since the college. All the rumors are true. Back growing up, kids went to two different colleges primarily because they Cal Poly and 500 from what I discovered from both are pretty damn similar. Told people go down there and do social things. But no, I don't recall her ever talking about. I don't recall her ever talking about it. Snowing over there in Chico. I'm putting together a job for county of Napa up on Mount St. Helena and that's at 4,300ft elevation. And boy, you could just see the snow stacked on top of that place. When I was working Friday, it looked like a solid blinded. Oh yeah.
Speaker B: You know what? One thing I noticed as we get
Speaker A: older,
Speaker B: the cold and, and the heat also seems to get more intense. You know, like these days I'm retired. Oh my gosh, no ice. My feet get cold.
Speaker A: I've got to run back to the house crying.
Speaker B: Know what?
Speaker A: I think that's actually common with most people. My sister, who's 45, I saw her for lunch on Saturday and we were talking about him. She says when she was 20 or 21 years old, she would wear to go to a frat party in the snow. She wears three in heels and skirts, a sheer blouse, have her hair make up perfect and then walk four blocks to it. Cu. Now she's wearing a parka. What am I thinking of here, Long John, Some leggies, some fur boots and whatnot. Still freezing. It's amazing how that affects you. Or does it?
Speaker B: Hey, well, where did you grow up? Like where did you go to high school?
Speaker A: Both went to high school in Santa Rosa, that's where we grew up. We went to Chico like many other young women because it's a fun place to be. I think she met a boy who he connected well with. His name was Todd and he went to Chico. So she transferred, I think a semester later. And if I remember right, I remember right. They broke up while she was in Chico. That was a story. You went on some singles cruise with his older brother. Why would you do that when you're in a relationship with somebody? Anyway, I guess he met someone else who was like eight or nine years older than him and already had two kids. End up cutting it right on my sister and then had another baby with this woman. It was all drama.
Speaker B: Now, what about you? You got kids and married,
Speaker A: Same girl for 12 years. We got married though, a couple of years back. We have an 8 month old son now. I'm 46 and if I could do my life, I could write a letter back in time to myself, send it, you know, and then receive a. When I was a young man, boy, the things I would do differently. I'll tell you this on Pete. Nobody cares about your gpa. Start talking about your college degrees and job with your co workers, they start trying to shut you down. They don't want to hear it. All that years I spent my 20 to get an A in every class. Letters of recommendation for this ethics exam, for that, you know, bragging degrees. It has absolutely no return on investment.
Speaker B: Wow. Hey, tell me about your son.
Speaker A: How old did you say he was?
Speaker B: What's his name?
Speaker A: His name is Grant. My kid, he's 8 months old. Doesn't do a whole lot right now. He keeps mom and dad up all night. Oh. You know what I learned is that the money is in the freeze. People are going to tell you. Well, that's no secret, but I started a business doing engineering design and construction for Tom Sites Power Sites. And that is what really was the uplift of my life. I had to get some capital together to do this, but boy, that was where it's at. I just wish I got into it earlier. Anyway, that's what I tell myself. It's a younger man.
Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Well, hey, you've got a son. That's something. I have two girls, one boy, they're all brown. My son is like 45 and I think, how does this happen? I mean, really, it just seems like yesterday I was holding him little baby and now look, 45, what happened?
Speaker A: 46. And I tell you what, I can think back about some things that happened 20 years ago. And that feels like that was last weekend. Yeah, don't blink. It moves by very quickly. Well, Pete, let me tell you what, buddy. I enjoyed the chat. I gotta pick it up next tomorrow night, though, because I'm pulling into my cul de sac and I want to hang this thing up so I can get something out of refrigerators it up real quick before I go to bed. Yeah, enjoy Saturday. Let's do this again tomorrow. 86 pocket finals.
Speaker B: Six, night of relays. Yeah. Hey,
Speaker A: look forward to speaking to you again.
Speaker B: Sounds good. Talk to you later.

Speaker A: I'm not sure of your location, but a little bit of noise on you, but you're making it. I heard you, over. Well, I.
Speaker B: Thank you. I'm at the cork golf course near the oakland airport.
Speaker A: Okay, well, that transmission was full quieting.
Speaker B: Doing good.
Speaker A: Oakland. Oh, I used to live in Oakland. We're on
Speaker B: Rockridge District.
Speaker A: I went to a school up there called California College of Arts and Crafts,
Speaker B: which is now closed. Okay. I'm just traveling from St. George, Utah, watching my granddaughter play golf here at the golf course. All right.
Speaker A: How is the weather? It's raining here in Chico.
Speaker B: Chico, over. Currently, that looks like a light rain this morning, but it's not raining right now, so I don't think we're expecting anything until 12 new.
Speaker A: Well, let me ask you this. Have you been driving all night? Over.
Speaker B: No, I left Saturday, spent the night in Harris ranch on Interstate 5, then got here to the Fremont Health Lodge. Spend the night Sunday and then last night tonight I'm heading over to my sisters in Redwood City and then I'll be heading up to Roseville to watch my grandson play volleyball.
Speaker A: Are you from the bay area?
Speaker B: Yeah, I grew up here in redwood city for 28 years and spent 20 years up in roseville, California, and now the last 25 years in St. George, Utah.
Speaker A: Sounds cool. Now, I've heard about St. George. Supposed to be a real nice place,
Speaker B: but yeah, I lived in Oakland for
Speaker A: 40 some odd years. Pretty nice. My son lives there and you know, people talk about crime, but my son says, nope, he doesn't go hanging out at night. But you know, he says nothing has happened. He hasn't been mugged or robbed, beat up, whatever, knock on wood. And he likes Oakland.
Speaker B: Yeah, I understand that. Usually when people talk about those sorts of things, they're in isolated spots and then they try to make it general, but it's more isolated in different areas as we go over.
Speaker A: Oh, yeah, well, Oakland does have a lot of gangs. You know, I think of the Nortenos
Speaker B: and
Speaker A: I used to teach there.
Speaker B: You know, Albany,
Speaker A: my last teaching job was in Berean Camel Pius High School. Nice job. They make a lot of money there.
Speaker B: Yeah, copy that. And that's pretty nice. Like I say, St. George is pretty good, but it's growing. A lot of people from California moving there, buying their places and increasing the prices of houses and stuff.
Speaker A: Oh, you know, people from Texas talk about how Californians Bring their political views to Texas and they don't like it.
Speaker B: Names and goes in St. George, Utah, because it's pretty conservative Republican area. The only part that's Democrat is the Salt Lake City area. Otherwise, the rest of the state is pretty conservative Republican.
Speaker A: If you don't mind my asking, are you Mormon? We have Mormons in our family.
Speaker B: I am not Catholic. Went to eight years of procurement school in Redwood City. At St. Pius,
Speaker A: I was a Catholic. My parents weren't Catholic. I went because it was across the street from where we lived and I was working my way up. I gotta tell you this. I wanted to be an altar boy. And then all of this stuff happened about the priests. I was crushed, you know, because they were the people you could go to and trust. And then I just went, oh, my God.
Speaker B: Yeah, I hear you on that. I was an altar boy from third grade all the way up through eighth grade. But this back in the 60s, so it wasn't so bad back then as it was, you know, in previous years.
Speaker A: Well, I believe in God.
Speaker B: Christ.
Speaker A: Hello. But the church I went to had traditional Latin mass. You know, they had it down, boy.
Speaker B: They had a chorus.
Speaker A: And the church was just beautiful. You know, the. The sun would come through these stained windows. I mean, you just felt God.
Speaker B: Yeah, I hear that. The church I was at, St. Pius, my first year as an ultraviolet, was Latin. And then they switched up over to
Speaker A: England the next year and I.
Speaker B: Fairly big church there in Redwood City that I belonged at. I don't practice going to the Catholic Church anymore, but I still believe in God and stuff. Anyway. Over. Oh, yeah.
Speaker A: N6iwhere. Well, I like Catholicism. Okay. I believe the intent is good. I didn't really prescribe church, and I kind of believe the earth is our church. And, you know, one thing that's happened in my life is I've seen suffering, okay? People in hospitals, relatives, you know, dying. So it's given me a new outlook on life, you know, I mean, like, don't take it so seriously.
Speaker B: Yeah, I understand. I'm not a big believer in organizations because in every organization there's good and bad, so it doesn't make a difference. But. Yeah, I hear you. As far as life goes, I was a partial one time at a golf course and I ran into these couples that were in there early 80s, and I said, how are you doing? They said, fine. It's a. Was nice day. And one gentleman said, it's nice day to be above ground. And that I was 40 at the time. So it was a Different perspective.
Speaker A: Well, you know, I. I see people, I'm retired, and I go to the doctors and stuff like that and I talk to people, I meet people and they. What's wrong with them? And they all say it's better than the alternative, which of course is being dead.
Speaker B: This is true. But when you're, when you die, you don't have any more pain or anything and you just basically fall asleep and then your spirit goes wherever it's supposed to go.
Speaker A: You know, I often think about what happens
Speaker B: after death.
Speaker A: We go somewhere, but, you know, I guess I'll let you know when I get there.
Speaker B: I understand that. It's just kind of interesting when you think about all the things that are going on in the world and how we don't have control over what the sun does and the chemistry makeup of our bodies. If some chemical goes out of whack or if something goes out of whack, it an interesting thing to think about, but I think when it's time to die, your body goes. And then your spirit goes hopefully to heaven.
Speaker A: Hey. Well, you know, my mom was a Bible thumper. Really. And I don't think that was a bad thing. She didn't shove it at you. You know, where people say you're a sinner, you're this, you're that, you need to be saved or something, I don't know. But she set an example. And when she died, okay, it was very peaceful. My two sisters were there. She believed Jesus Christ was going to come and help. And I'll bet he did, because. Nope, take off. Gone. Bye, Mom.
Speaker B: Yeah, and that's a good way to go. My mom was pretty much the same thing. I'm just a big believer in the ten Commandments and then the eleventh Commandment in the New Testament. And treat your neighbor as you treat, as you'd like yourself to be able to be treated and just be kind to everybody,
Speaker A: you know, that's what I learned.
Speaker B: And I'm so glad that I never, you know, the way I've seen some
Speaker A: guys, you know, they get in a
Speaker B: fight, they beat up the guy.
Speaker A: Even when he's out, they're still right. That's cruel, stupid. But all of that comes back, you know, And a lot of times it's the good things that we did, you
Speaker B: know, that really are important. Yeah, I agree with you. So this pretty nice little system, being able to talk to you up there in Chico, from Oakland, in Utah area, we have the inner tie that goes from Montana all the way down to Arizona and over to the eastern side of Oregon. It's pretty good.
Speaker A: Yeah. Well, I'm glad to hear signal cleaned up when your first got on.
Speaker B: It was rough, but know you're good to go.
Speaker A: Well, you know, the thing about this link, Carla, is. And they've come on to me and said, keep it short, go away. You know, find another home, blah, blah, blah. Okay, okay. Well, this machine's for emergencies only.
Speaker B: Oh, good.
Speaker A: I'm so glad. But you know, there's no rag chute know Bob and Fred are not getting on the way to work using their ham radio camaraderie, over.
Speaker B: Yeah, copy that. If it was a for emergency, they would break in and say it was and then you would figure out what the emergency was. But you know, long conversations if nobody else is on the network. I haven't really heard anybody else talking on the network as I've been monitoring. Yeah, Roger, Roger on that.
Speaker A: And you know, I'm not the only one. I've heard other people say to me, they resent that.
Speaker B: Oh, it's for emergencies only.
Speaker A: You know, all you have to do
Speaker B: is say
Speaker A: we're stopped, whatever. But I think people tend to go away, you know, they're not welcome.
Speaker B: No, I hear you. I mean, if they follow the rules. The rules are already set up for talking on the ham radios. I just passed my general course here last week. I took my technician course in January.
Speaker A: Well, what's it like for GMRs where you live? Same thing. A lot of people are getting on Paradise. Power went out, fire was coming. Nobody knew what was going on. A lot of people died. Now, no lights required, no ticket, no test for the license.
Speaker B: Ten years,
Speaker A: the whole family use the same ticket. A lot of people down here, but I never hear them talking.
Speaker B: Same in St. George area. I mean, our GMS is okay with not a lot of people talking, but we do have a network up in the Salt Lake area that is, I guess, pretty active. But you need a license in order to talk on the GMRS repeater stuff. You don't need it for the other frequencies that Simplex and other people can use. Those like the Jeep rallies and things like that. Oh, yeah, Roger, roger.
Speaker A: And they opened up some vhs. No license required. Get on up there, real close to the fire department frequencies and there's a few channels I've heard talking on. And that's kind of weird.
Speaker B: Yeah, their frequencies are in the 400, you know, up in that area, the 460 area, 450, but there's like five or seven frequencies that are set aside for repeaters and you need a license for that. I do have a license for the GMRS as well.
Speaker A: Hey, what about hf? Over.
Speaker B: I'm just starting to explore that because I just got my general's license for the ham, so now I'm able to talk on hf, but I'm doing research and stuff and trying to understand that a little bit better. Over.

So the other one can elaborate on it it's called dog piling but anyway it's an old trick and they all know what and when they're doing it so Terry's the only one that goes along with Larry Almost everybody else doesn't play it and of course Skip being Larry's neighbor and his latest friend he won't say good morning very rarely unless Larry's out there and use my name to say good morning with it he just says all same way Bill does oh yeah, I know who talks on the phone to who and Terry never came back about the GU74B which he was asking me about it the day before yesterday. That's those tubes that the Alphas take. Yeah I don't care about any of it I've been out there since 4:22 Rob didn't come in until about 5 o' clock but the early morning group John down down south in Arizona and Jerry and Rob and a couple other guys that come in here early like Larry the Weatherman WX yeah Before they come down or up off the other channel that the extras use Steve, Ms. and sq Larry yeah I get along with all those people just fine they don't actually play dog pile at all until after Larry comes on so they're aware everything that's happening he looks like the bad guy it's pretty obvious so I'm just fine with it Obviously I'm the only one that's considerate to everybody that doesn't want to hear it otherwise I, I'd throw it in his face and, and, and I, and I'd win when it comes to the cut down stuff because I'm faster than he is But I know everybody most of the other people ain't gonna want to hear the bantam back and forth and back and forth so for their sake I'm just not playing and, and I've learned from all that Jay that as long as I don't participate in it I'm controlling it it. Yeah, I'm gonna go down and get a haircut down there on Pearson sometime this morning had to jump start Lori's car last night all the time it's been snowing she hasn't been taking that to work so that battery's over with. They told her four or five months ago when it was up at the Dodge dealer that the battery needed to be replaced. It works just fine as long as she drives it, you know, at least once every three days. It's been about a week since she ran it. She tried to start it the other day and it didn't, but I, I put a 60 minute charge on it at 40amps and it started it up just fine this morning. But I left the charger on it in case we needed to. She's gonna batteries plus put them in for free, so probably gonna stop by there sometime today and, and get a new one, call it a day.

Speaker A: Roger. Yeah, I need to do something here. I need to make some jumper leads. I got a few things I need to do today. I gotta take this screen down, take it down to Chico, get it so I can get the 150. And they still haven't told me when I'm getting the 150 pull down from the ceiling, but I already know it. So he said the 28 so of March. So I'm going to hurry up and order one of these ones that's up on the legs like you saw here, the 120. I'm going to get the 150 on legs. That way I got something for the garage and I can use it here until I get the
Speaker B: 150 from the ceiling. They didn't have them at Amazon. Exactly. And he
Speaker A: said he would make it for me, except for I still had to run through. I'll give him a call today. I would have still had to run through
Speaker B: Amazon for the return, remember? Yeah, I got his phone number here. I will call him.

Speaker A: Yeah, I'd like to take those two AGMs I got. Not AGMs, but the LiPo 4s. That'd be 400amps. That'd be excellent for the RV. They're real lightweight. Yep. Two 200ampers. So that would put me well,
Speaker B: well into seven to ten days. I just haven't
Speaker A: decided whether I'm gonna put them up in the truck or find a place for them inside. They're so lightweight. You know, it'd be nice to have that and just run on the other two for all the other stuff, but make me a secondary bank for the projector and the other amenities, stereo and stuff like that.

Except for Bill tried to key up on me real fast when I said good morning to Gary when he just checked out. So they know I'm running that little ALS 600. So I noticed almost everybody's way up in the red taking advantage of that. Yeah, well, if it's gonna rain all day, except for I should go down to Chico, but I know I'm going down a Neil road. Not Neil, but Pearson. And getting the haircut sometime today. Yeah, and I should put that. I know I got to get firewood sometime today, and it's going to be raining all day. And I should start the wiring deal there for the O2 sensor in the vet. Still gotta jack that all up, but now that her car's out of the way, it's. That'd be an easy fix. I'm gonna just have to chance that deal. What do they call that company? Yeah, I don't remember what they call it. Damn it. Yes. Forest Ranch has the. It was the first system over there where they put the stuff underground. And it'll bypass an area with a problem. But everybody above and below can remain on power. And then of course, they see that on their board wherever they are monitoring all that they know right where to send the truck, what section anyway. Yep. And it. And it shuts off all that end in between. Nice. Bypass system is smart.

2026-02-24 15:19:19 UTC 132.2s · 2m Simplex (146.520 MHz)

Speaker A: Yeah, they have a manual system over there on the other side of skyway. And they have to climb up the pole about 15ft, and there's a big handle. They can pull it down and then shove it back up, and that'll. It'll reset that particular breaker. That's what we had there. It was good for about 10 houses. And a red light came on up at the pole when it needed to be reset. Everybody else in the neighborhood got their power back out. Is it one of the years that it snowed three or so, Almost four feet. And of course, it broke that breaker. They fixed the problem, but they never went back and reset it. Come about a week later, I'm calling them up saying, well, you know, it's the breaker on the pole down here. I see the red light on, but all the rest of the neighborhood has power, and. And they came out and flipped it. I was tempted to go out there and flip it myself, but getting up there 14ft, you got to get up at least
Speaker B: 10ft before you can get to the pegs. Well, with those stations like
Speaker A: forest ranch has going up 32, they can do it from the control. They don't even got to go up there after a problem. The guy can reset it manually, Just go down in the hole. Or you can just call in and they can reset it. Yeah, pretty nice system. We're not connected to them over there. Right here along this facing of the canyon, we used to get our power from the forest ranch
Speaker B: side. They. They stopped doing that. It was pretty funny, too. Maybe they went back to it because you had power the other day and we didn't.

Speaker B: It is currently not. I'm just leaving Brockland, heading up to Auburn right now and it is. It definitely had rained, but it looks like the asphalt in the neighborhood is already starting to dry. So I guess it hasn't rained in a hot second.
Speaker A: Oh, well, that's good. Yeah, we're just getting a very, very light drizzle right now in auburn. You know, one drop every 10 seconds, something like that. It's not bad. But yeah, it looks like it came down pretty well overnight. I looked out at the back porch this morning and it was soaked so I guess we got a good one. Weather reports saying rain on and off throughout the day. So I've got my umbrella with me.
Speaker B: Oh, that's not terrible.
Speaker A: Then I will be working on cleaning up a.
Speaker B: Cleaning out and up a house. So having a little bit of rain is not going to be terrible for keeping the temperature down. So I'll be happy with.
Speaker A: Oh yeah, when you're working it's always nice to have cooler weather. It did not get cold last night. It's what, 52 right now and overcast. So it's a bit warmer than it has been. None of those 31, 32 degree mornings we were having there for a few mornings, which is too cold to work. Well, good luck on your project today. Cleaning up and cleaning out a house. Is this a family dwelling or a job or what?
Speaker B: Yeah, it's Ray's place. We're trying to clean it up for Christina and her brother. Trying to help. Yes, it's not nearly cold. We actually looked at our weather app and found out that back home in Tennessee it was 18 degrees for about six hours last night. So we had to call our neighbor real quick before we went to bed. And of course it was really late over there and asked them to run over and drift one of our faucets
Speaker C: because
Speaker D: we didn't think that we were
Speaker B: going to need to before we left. So hopefully everything worked out over there. But yeah, everybody told us when we were coming down here, oh, dress for the cold, dress for the cold. And it's. It's not really been cold.
Speaker A: Well, you got lucky in that respect and thank you very much for going down and helping out Thomas and Christina there. I appreciate that Ray was a friend of mine and as he was many, but I'm going to miss him and I wondered how they were going to handle all that. I just went through that with my mother back in last summer and it's all lot of work I don't think that I realized how much work was involved in it when I volunteered otherwise I probably would not have volunteered But Ray lived rather simply so it shouldn't be too bad of a project I wouldn't imagine just yeah it's just a shame how these things happen.
Speaker C: Yeah Christina and her brother Steve are gonna run around and start doing some of the legal aspects of your hyping everything up and so I as the brother in law and husband don't want anything to do with that if I could help it I want to stay as far away from that because stuff like this has been together and I don't want to show any kind of thing to get in between so I
Speaker A: will be going doing the dirty work.
Speaker C: But yeah we, we. We definitely live like we're finding out that three or four which is on a good field but he also has missed no organization on storing so it's been interesting finding one thing here and then the exact.
Speaker A: Okay, I got most of that your signal is fine but your audio dropped about 90 95% like mine does when my microphone connection loose on this I
Speaker D: don't know if you've heard that before
Speaker A: or not but yeah suddenly I I was able to turn the volume all the way up and copy most of that but you might want to check your mic plug
Speaker E: yeah I'm.
Speaker B: I'm operating off of an older well my old HT that I've beaten the crap out of and it's what I used to travel with connected to a mag mount to the the top of Ray's car Believe it or not Mr. Radio Guy has a ton of radios but never actually ended up putting one in his car so operating this while driving his stick shift that's probably where most of the audio is going is me having to put it down real quick to shift or looking away but yeah, it's interesting
Speaker A: that was much better. Yes and I can relate to the to the travel radio versus the oh my gosh I spent too much money on this I don't want to get a damaged radio so yeah I have that exact I have my traveling bao fangs and I have my at home yaesu now you know the fact is I should just use the darn thing that's what you know the money's kind of irrelevant once you own it right and why does it's like a garage queen people buy these 700 horsepower cars that sit in the garage and I'm like well heck you should get that thing out and drive it once in A while but in any case we've got a coffee breakneck coming up here in about three minutes so I will let you go Hope you have a great day and thanks again for taking care of ray stuff there KB6SSN
Speaker B: yeah what's funny is this is a Yaesu ST3DR. And I ended up getting a second one because I traveled so much with this one that it's seen better days and I actually don't think Baofeng would survive what this one has so I have the nice version of the same radio at home and then one to travel with Part of me thinks I should switch those but anyways yep, coffee break starting up so I will say 73 and we'll talk to you on the coffee break.

I find it very ironic though that on the same day that national tortilla chip day, today is international I hate coriander day. Yeah, the leaves are known as cilantro and pretty much present in almost any Spanish cooking dish. Today is world spay day and that applies to, I'm sure, cats and dogs. Though I have met some humans lately that I thought might benefit from this program in future generations. And today is world bottom bartender day bartender, the psychiatrist for the blue collar. I've had a couple people comment on that. Anyway, good morning to you. Speaking of high power. Had a lot of fun filming a video with the Palstar HF auto tuner yesterday. Not very popular on YouTube, but we had a lot of fun videoing it anyway. Our typical crappy looking video, but hey, it was fun to do. Also have a trivia question for you today, Brian. Do you know where we get the word second from? Like in minutes, seconds, hours. Minutes, Seconds. Why we call it a second?
Speaker D: I do not, but I hope that you tell me.
Speaker A: Well, I'm affixing to right now. So this is in honor of Ray, by the way. He love trivia.
Speaker B: Well, you know, we break down hours
Speaker A: by 60, so we break it down into minutes. That's the first division by 60. Then we do it one more time, we do it a second time. We divide by 60 and that's how we get seconds because it's the second division by 60. Now we use a decimal system here in the modern world, a base 10 mathematics system. The Babylonian choose a base 60 system. A sex to just sex adjustable but sex adjustable system and that's where we get the 60 they came up with the time keeping system and it worked so we kept it. But that's why we call second seconds and that's for Ray KB6 SSN have a great morning. 73
Speaker D: Interbressing I had just actually watched a video yesterday on why time is measured the way it is versus you know, other things on base 10 and interesting. Thank you very much and yes that is the second division of time. Then have a great day Tom and yes, PALSR HF Auto Excuse me Great tuner Love mine would not give it up for anything. Have a wonderful day. Good morning Thomas KN6 MJV Heard you mobile this morning. Yeah, good morning.

Yeah. All right. So I haven't heard a single person key up since I checked out. So evidently after the John and Gary and Rob checked out and then I did,
Speaker A: my feelings aren't hurt anymore. Well, I don't let it
Speaker B: aggravate me or nothing but you know, some of them guys talk to me for an hour at different times. It's kind of two faced. So it's not that, it's not that I'm deeply hurt or anything, but I do notice it, you know. You know what the good book says about it. The majority of people there's referred to in parable as wheat in a field when the wind blows, everybody goes this way and then they go that way and everybody goes this way and that way and, and there's only a few people that stay to their morals. So you got to take in consideration if you got, if you got people that change in their minds for this reason and that reason. Some people refer to it as two faced but not, not what's actually happening here. They're just trying to stay in the clique and not make waves. So.
Speaker A: All right, very good, Mr. J. Enjoy.
Speaker B: Yeah, I don't feel like going down to John's but I'm gonna call him iPhone 16. Well, you were the first person I got a hold of, so you know, I'm working that, got the contacts, got the, got the favorites in there so I don't have to look through, go into the contact list and for the people I call the most and, and it's coming along now. Speaker A: Really, huh? I know it's been raining overnight. Sometimes a little bit harder down here. I figured it was raining at least some up there.
Speaker C: Yeah, I'm showing all day and I see some orange instead of just green. Closer to you than me, looks like it's going to go north.
Speaker D: Yeah. Over the last week, it's been a situation of too much water up there. Even at my place there snow on the ground pretty wet look, puddles around the shed there and everything. So yep, there was probably like 4 inches of snow on the ground at the most. And then all that had to melt at some point too. So I almost went up there yesterday, but then I got kind of involved in something else and ah, the heck with it, you know. Probably all still too wet

Speaker D: Yeah, it was. And they were real flakes of snow, but unfortunately. Unfortunately. But anyway, everything's still hot around here, so nothing was sticking.
Speaker A: And
Speaker D: I did that for like
Speaker A: maybe 15 minutes. I'd say.
Speaker B: Just enough to get you excited.

Speaker A: I wish I didn't have anything else to do. I'd run down to Yuba City and get one of them. Maddox Mr. 16 code reader. And I'm thinking I can wait until March 23rd. It's a long way, but I don't have any right away use for it. So I'm gonna keep waiting.
Speaker B: Yeah. So what do you need a code reader for? You got an automobile issue?
Speaker A: Not really, but the check engine light just came on in the. Of course it was low on coolant. I could still see it in the reservoir so it wasn't hurting it any. But I filled it up and it still didn't go away. And I thought just maybe I might have got some not very good depth. So it'd be nice to be able to actually see why that light's on. That would help. I could get the 14. They have it in stock right up here. But I don't think it does diesel. That's why I want that Mr. 16. It, it does diesel. What do you got planned for the day in the rain?
Speaker B: So when the light came on, was there any issue just receiving that like as you were driving kind of thing or just come on when you started it up One day, like example, some of my diesel trucks, you know, I might have like a misfire. You could feel, feel it as you're driving, you know, a little misfire light would come on but then it would all go away and straighten out, right?
Speaker A: Oh yeah, the ones that came on it, it's been on. So death is the only thing because you know, I had a tank out here, still had 250 gallons in it and I put it into 55 gallon drums so I could seal them up. And that other big tote, I'm not, I'm not satisfied that that's a airtight deal. Not to mention what might sit in the hose in the sun. Anyway, I put that in, I put that, some of that in the truck and it was shortly after that that I seen the light come on. It's still using def. I see the gauge go down. So I. The last few times I put them in, when it got down to half a tank, I got it at Pacific Pride. So if it was, that was the issue, it should have straightened out by now.
Speaker B: Yeah, but the code won't go away, right? They don't just go away. If it's something stored in there in a computer system, they got to be cleared out. You can even sometimes get a friend to do it or, you know, I don't know if It's a diesel, so it might make a difference. But sometimes you're thinking that the AutoZone or Raleigh type of places will check a code and clearance you. But I don't know if they'll do that on a diesel anyway. But yeah, if the computer is storing a code in there, you got to pull it out before it'll clear it off so you can at least look at what code it gave. But my thoughts anyway, but like on some of my diesel trucks, like I'd have a misfire, something like that. And so it would. You would want to make sure you knew what cylinder was misfiring on so that's why it was staying there. And you just have it looked at and say okay, it's a misfire on whatever cylinder seven or whatever. So then later on if you had to change, like a change something, you know, injector or something like that, you knew which one to go to. But you know, it might have just been a little bit of bad, bad fuel or something like you were saying. So anyway, that was just my thoughts. Anyway, good morning to you. Ken Fix mgk?
Speaker A: Yeah, my neighbor did. He brought his little code reader over, but it was, it's a real small one and he was able to clear it and make the light go out. But it what maybe a couple of days and it was back on again. So it's the same problem since then. I put more recent death in it. So I probably should just do that again, give it another try. Got the same thing in the vet. Got to put an O2 sensor. But you already heard that whole spew.
Speaker B: I don't think I did, but I probably heard maybe the tail end of something at some point in time. I don't know, something about cutting wires or something like that, which I don't know. I've always just bought the O2 sensor. You know what, I gotta say that over the years I've bought some stuff at like AutoZone and O'Reilly and for emissions and it's always failed me and I'll probably never want to do that again. Now I just go back and get the oem. Now I don't have to order it from the dealer, but I do order the right OEM sensors. It could be from Rock Auto or whatever, but I don't get like the dura last ones or whatever because that's what's giving me trouble. To the past.
Speaker A: Yeah, I got a Denso and I got it from Napa. And O2 sensors are basically O2 sensors. So you know, you got A signal wire. There's four wires. So there's a signal and a power and pcm. Yep. And two black wires, which is. Confused me. So it didn't matter anyway. A minus. And let me see, where's that other black wire Go to purple signal that, that threw me off right there. That mechanic from Just answer.
Speaker B: Yeah,
Speaker A: so I haven't even taken it out of the. I took it out of the box but I didn't open the wrapper. So I may just do that. Maybe I'll run over to the Chevy dealer. At least there should be a color for color. Tan, purple, brown and red. And the one that I bought, this Denzel right here has blue, white, black and black. That'll throw you off.
Speaker B: Yeah, well, I mean I, I definitely recommend buying something from oem even if it's ordered from like Rock Auto or whatever. You just to keep it simple. And Denville, if that's Nip and Denville, well that's a good, good Japanese company. So them right along with mga. I think they're sister companies or something anyway. But they generally make good products. But yeah, I don't know, I just. With emissions it was touchy, you know. You know, some of the stuff. Like the one thing I bought was the EGR valve on a Chevy 350. And I swear that Dura last one or whatever it was, I'm pretty sure it was Duralast. I can't remember right now because it's been quite a few years now. But anyway, I kept throwing codes, but still, you know, everything would be fine. But then it would throw a code. So everything was running good. But throw the code and that'll be enough to not pass an emissions test these days at one of those smog shop. So I said this is crazy. So I took it back off and ended up going to Witmire. And it was a gmc. No, no, not Whitmire. I'm sorry, courtesy. Because it was a GMC truck. And I went in there and showed the guy. A real nice guy too. Hey, this is what I'm looking for. And he looks it up on his microfiche or whatever at the time and he goes, yeah, this is. I can get it for you tomorrow. So come in at 8 o'. Clock. Okay. I paid like gosh, like $60 for me. It's like, you know, it was $20 AutoZone. You know, I'm like, holy crap. But you know, I put that on. I never had a bit of problem after that.

Speaker A: Oh, it's doing something. N6iwh. Copy?
Speaker B: Yes. What did you do? Kk6vzd.
Speaker A: You know, I'm having some rig trouble here. I have another radio. Turned it on. It's got a beam antenna on the rotor. The rig I started with had an Ed Fong dual band antenna. You know, the PVC pipe.
Speaker B: Okay, well, whatever it was, it wasn't doing very well for you.
Speaker A: You know, I have that. I was trying to get on a machine. 440-I- think. 05, something like that. Local, you know, link type of machine. Couldn't make it. God, everybody's saying you're scratchy, can't hear you. And the machine is in Chico. So I wonder,
Speaker B: maybe it's time to ditch that antenna.
Speaker A: Amazon, the SWR was pretty flat. I tuned between GMRs and UHF. I don't know, it seems to work, but not anymore.
Speaker B: Well, okay, sometimes that happens. I've gone back to antenna that all of a sudden didn't seem to be working. And I found out that the connector had worked its way. Loot at the radio amp.
Speaker A: Ouch. I hate it when that happens. You know, I always think it's somebody who came by with, you know, some straight pins and they went outside my bedroom window and put pins in the coax. Now, am I sick?
Speaker B: I'm not. Well, I. I think you give people a bit more credit than they deserve for being, you know, that insane.
Speaker A: I heard a story years ago. I always remember these guys down in LA were fighting and, you know, hassling each other. So one night a couple guys got a pickup truck and the coax had. There was like a bunch of, you know, antenna coax going up and they tied a rope around that, got back in the truck and took off. And they said that there was just an explosion of radios and scanners and everything flying out this front picture window. I mean, nobody was hurt, but there was quite a bit of damage. And after that, that guy got off the radio.
Speaker B: Well, yes. Okay. Sound like very expensive experience.
Speaker A: Well, this guy figured out how to half you like, you know, Ho, ho, ho, Bill. Want me to shut off your power and the PG&E would go off?
Speaker B: Okay.
Speaker A: Okay.
Speaker B: Yeah. Okay. All right.
Speaker A: Yeah.
Speaker B: I don't even monitor HF as much as I used to, but I did on to 80 meters. And I could. I couldn't transmit, but I could monitor and then get down to one particular section of the band there. And there's these guys constantly that were. Well, yeah, hassling people on the air.
Speaker A: I know those guys is one of Them. Bill Crowell, world's biggest jammer. W6WBJ. I knew him in the Bay Area.
Speaker B: Well, I don't know if it was or not, but this guy wasn't foolish enough to use a call sign. He'd just get out there and jam, be a jerk, you know, because if the SEC knew who he was. Yeah. He wouldn't have had a license for very much long or equipment.
Speaker A: Hey, hey, Chris, check this out. Butte county has a sheriff's department. I can't. It's something like the Electronic Media Enforcement Bureau. And these guys are active, right? They know what's going on. They're monitoring interference. Man, they'd be on it real quick, but they actually caught a guy on GMRS who was jamming. Jamming, jamming. Apparently, you know, a feud or something
Speaker B: locally here in Orville.
Speaker A: So one night they went out, Sheriff's Department DF'd him, found him. It's one of the owners. They slapped him on the wrist and said, don't do it anymore.
Speaker B: Wow. Well, I wonder if that was they. They. I know they had a sheriff's communication reserve. I wonder if it was those guys that. Would that have found him.
Speaker A: Oh, I don't know. But I've heard that they help on a parade somewhere in Yuba City, helping up, you know, putting up antennas and stuff. Yeah.
Speaker B: Well,
Speaker A: you know, it's interesting, though, that they have a complete bureau dedicated to electronic enforcement. I didn't think there was that really that many problems,
Speaker B: But I know that Butte county has done a lot to push the Mrs. Up there especially.
Speaker A: Hey, well, you know, there's a gmr GMRS machine in Orville. A lot of hams get on Lok and you know, people. Ernie and all like that. It's a machine in Orville. I think it's channel 30.
Speaker B: Well, that's not surprising. They're wise, actually, if they live up in the hills there where the fire danger is higher. WP6, AXM repeater.
Speaker A: You know, the sad part is, the GMRS people don't like hams. And this is propagated by a guy called not a Rubicon on the Internet, YouTube. What are we, we're the crappy old hams or something? I forget what he says, but they say that hams come on to GMRS and tell them they don't know anything. And you guys are stupid. You know, that sort of stuff.
Speaker B: I don't spend much time on gmrs, but I've never heard any of that. I know exactly who you're talking about. And you know I kind of get where he's coming from.
Speaker A: Well, they feel like the hams pick on them, you know, that they believe that they.
Speaker B: They're just
Speaker A: inherently stupid because there was no test for the license. But, you know, Hamlet is that way something sometimes with the extra class people. Oh. Ooh, yeah, Extra class. And you should bow down and, you know.
Speaker B: Yeah, I know. Well, you know, If I was to get my extra, I would have nowhere near the knowledge that most of them do. I kind of get where the attitude is coming from, but I would say be more grateful about it.
Speaker A: Hey, if you were an extra class, I would bow down to you, Chris. Well, maybe not in public, but here at home in my shack, I
Speaker B: this.

Yeah, I've been following the news all morning long and all night too and wow, things are getting hot. We got situation down there in Mexico. We may have to dispatch our military to rescue Americans similar to the situation we had back in Grenada. I got my fingers crossed anyways, other than that, that's about all I got for this Morning. This is KD6CDQ73.
Speaker B: Yeah, I don't think it's to the level of Grenada, but you know, it would be wonderful if the US would get some planes in there to Guadalajara and into Puerto Vallarta and actually start moving people out. I lived in a country that was under a little regime change while I was there and you know, they sent in some planes, put them at the airport, alerted all of the Americans there and we were given the option of going to the airport and evacuating. So yeah, I certainly hope that. Well, I don't think we need military force to provide safe access to the, to the airports. Certainly it could have much more disruption than anything else. But I'm just sitting on a couch. Rick, you have a wonderful day. KD6CDQ AI6US. The world's a crazy place. 7:3.
Speaker E: Ditto.
Speaker B: Good morning, mark. Kc8fqv.
Speaker D: Okay. FQV morning. Yeah, a little bit of that snow it left. Well, it was still coming a little bit this morning, but they canceled our meeting. They said zoom on. Oh, boy, am I glad. I looked at the website. I was just about getting ready to go. I cleaned the car and everything. Well, I went down the road at 5 o', clock, got the mail in there. The road looked nice, day looked good. And then I was cleaning the car and that because snow, you know, I didn't get it off until last night. My mom came about six and she said oh the roads are bad. And it wasn't until about 6:30 I finally got everything ready to go and I said I want to look and see up there. I don't really feel like going. I looked at that website and said we canceled or we are going Zoom only. So I'm glad I looked at that. I would have gone up there and been driving. I would have been really. But yeah, there was something. Oh the phone calls. Yeah I had a call this morning wanting to check with someone appointment for my dental out in Pennsylvania. I said what's the. Oh well I immediately thought was a garbage call so I mute the call and I just listen and then I, I zum down now by doing the old toilet flush because I don't want to say anything. So you just give them some audio, I'll give them a toilet flush and or I'll just mute. Sometimes I'll hang them up before you know I just hang up. Decline to call. Sorry, it's getting crazy. Don't know what to do. Back at comms Case up qv
Speaker C: Yep.
Speaker B: As a business that has my number posted all over the Internet for business contact I usually field at least five or more spam calls a day. And yeah the very effective way is you just put it on mute and set down the phone and then about a minute later you'll hear it hang up, you go on with life. Yeah, almost impossible to get rid of them. Even if he asked to be taken off their list, they don't care. Absolutely. Well Mark, have a wonderful day. KC8FQV AI6US good luck dealing with the spam calls. Yep 7:3 oh I'm doubling. Oh okay, good. Hey, good morning rick. Wb3csy.
Speaker F: That last night the first time ever thought about it about 10:30 our time but anyway the reason I brought that up, I don't know if this has been mentioned already but those of us that use Ham clock and somebody would take over the server eventually and keep that running. Someone is going to do that. So I just wanted to mention that Ham Clock will continue to live and be updated beyond June. So everybody have a great day. Thanks Brian. Back to the net. WB3CSY.
Speaker B: Yeah I think it's important a lesson for everybody is you know, don't hold your projects too close to your chest. Keep them open and keep the source available. I know that was a big part of questioning what could move forward. The only thing I do not like about the new way is the software will now issue multiple calls to all the databases instead of having a repository that's good and bad. Your thought on that, Rick? First, we'll take the comment from Dan. Go ahead. Yeah, Dan, we did not catch that. Sorry. Speaker B: But
Speaker A: I might try again with the Windows system. I get tons of errors with Mint. I don't know what's going on there. That was either. Well, I think Mint Mint worked from that usb and then I tried to get the Mint to install into on the Lenovo and I guess I goofed it up because it stopped working from the usb. So I put Mint on the. I just a regular download of Mint not installed on the Lenovans and the first thing that Rufus said to do was put it on the usb. And the version I put on the USB gives me a ton of error. So I don't know what's going on.
Speaker B: Yeah, okay. I was watching a video there from the. I think the guy from Rockland or whatever he is El Dorado Hills, the L K6 L W Y or whatever his name is, Raspberry PI guy. He was just going over these Raspberry PIs and I guess the prices have gone up considerably over the past couple of months because his AI is sucking all the RAM or something. So now we're having this issue like they had before with COVID and all that. So, like the availability has been tougher and the prices have gone way up still like 70 bucks or something like that for like a pi5 or something. Anyway. Yeah, so he was going over, well, which ones will actually work for his digipi, you know, so he was recommending. Right. Even at the pi0 pi02. I think it was called pi02. But of course the pi3s are still good. Me they have like one gig and it says really, it's all you need for the digipy anyway, unless you're going to start running multiple applications. So, yeah, just kind of watching that video.
Speaker A: Is Digipy anything like Camboy ATK's original PI system?
Speaker B: Yeah, I sent you information on that before. Yeah, it is. Yeah. Digipy. I think he's got a donation service or something, you know, versus, you know, GM4HTT. You can just go to GitHub and download. I think his is kind of behind a paywall. Like, I don't think it's a lot of money, but it's five Bucks or something, I don't remember. But. But Digipy was mine, that paywall.
Speaker A: But did Digipy require the use of his hardware that, you know that Digipy, that. Is that the same guy, that Digipy thing?
Speaker B: Yeah, he's a. The creator of it. Yeah. Yeah. So I don't know your question, but they use a Raspberry PI. Like if you got a pi3 or whatever. I'm sure your pi400, whatever that is, I think that's the pi4. Right. So. But yours has like a keyboard or something, so I think that's why.
Speaker A: I don't know.
Speaker B: I don't know. I've never had a PI 400. So anyway, I'm sure it'll work fine. But yeah, you have to get the program behind this paint wall.
Speaker A: Well, I've got. No longer got Internet, so. Oh, that's kind of complex. I have to deal with what I have and I've got help with the PI 400. That's why that is going to come
Speaker B: back
Speaker A: probably within a day or two.
Speaker B: Yeah. Okay. Well anyway, I'll check back in on you after that, I guess. But yeah, not having Internet is a big deal in the year 2026. I suppose after the rain and everything, you'll have some abilities again.
Speaker A: Not necessarily. The only, only thing I would have would be using the iPhone and the hotspot, which did work, but I don't know how well it would work for a download. Although I didn't really have it in the. In a spot that. I mean, I don't really know for sure what direction it's coming from from. So I suspect it's coming from my northish towards Reading and from. There's one. There's one tower way down by the 273, down over the. You like have to go over a bluff. It goes flat over there and then dropped into a canyon. And then that cell tower signal would have to come up the canyon and then somehow make it over the top of the canyon to me. But if that's where it comes from. Back when I had this one, I had this one Android system that would tell me which tower I was using. Sometimes it would say that one. Sometimes. Sometimes it would say one that was way over on the 44.
Speaker B: Oh yeah. Well, it might be kind of fun to do an experiment. Some sort of a blocker, like some sort of a shield behind it or something so you could block out signals from behind it or something. I mean, I don't know how that would work, but just thinking of the box. So you could say, okay, 1, 5. Put it this way. I get signals. I don't. I point this other way. I don't. You know, then you kind of know. I guess I was just thinking, I've never tried what you're doing. So the only time I've used mine is a hot spot is out in the field, you know, doing the parts on the air for a couple hours.
Speaker A: Well, I've got this one system that I've got to try out again that uses a cable to an antenna. And then it has. It's a Wilson system. So the antenna is a Wilson antenna that I got separately from. From. From the Wilson gadget stat. What you do is you stick your cell phone in this cradle, and then the Wilson signal comes in through the antenna port of the cradle from an antenna. So to do it right, you'd have to have probably a piece of hard line or something. It would have to be big cable. Bigger cable. And go up above the house, the roof, maybe, maybe onto my mast with that special antenna. And that antenna, even inside the building, gave me more signal than any other way that I've ever done. So the Wilson system, it will work. And I've just got to get that thing working again. That could be the way I go Internet for a while, But it's been a while since I've used it. Let's see, he's ending the weather right now, so I'm gonna pay attention to that, but I'll be able to hear you.
Speaker B: Okay, well, I'm cooking up some stuff, so I'll go back to that. But I'll talk at you later. I will. Say, just look at your weather up that way. Looks like you got rain all day until midnight. Maybe expecting about 1. 1.3 inches of rain. So. Yep. Stay dry, stay warm, and take care. 73km6mgk.
Speaker A: Yeah, I don't know if it would be as heavy as it was overnight. That was exceptionally heavy. All right. Yeah. Sierra Papakilo has moved to Arizona. She was on a boat in San Diego. And something's changed in her life. She was married. I don't know if she's still married. She moved to Cottonwood, Arizona, and she just did the weather, so. And ofg just jumped in. So I'm gonna get out of here into Jersey.

Speaker A: Okay. Aaron, just wanted to let you know you're transmitting on the output frequency and that's why I guess there was some confusion there. So. Okay, yeah, just a reminder, open HAM Clock and I know there's a DX clock and a couple others that have jumped in there to fill the void as well. All right, let's throw it back out to Rick. WB3CSY. Thank you for that. That there is going to be a. And will we have to manually install or is this going to be using the server to do an update?
Speaker B: Yeah.
Speaker C: Okay.
Speaker B: Brian.
Speaker D: Yeah, I'm sure going to multiple sites will be worse than a single one
Speaker A: because it's easier to pick up all
Speaker D: the data at one time than being scattered around. So I'll say 73 and I was just going to mention.
Speaker A: Yeah, I didn't hear either of the
Speaker D: people you were talking to coming through all star here. So 73 to everybody and back to
Speaker A: net AI 6 US WB CSY yeah, it suddenly hit me when I looked at my VFO and I saw the signal coming in off of him and I realized, yeah, they were on the output frequency. So yeah, that's why you didn't hear him. He was just mentioning the availability of. Of the HAM Clock update and open Open HAM Clock and the dx. You know, the other projects that are out there as well. Hey, Rick, have a wonderful day. Good morning. AD Charlie Alpha your name and location. Good morning.
Speaker E: Hi, this is Mike here in Southern Illinois.

Speaker F: Thought I heard everybody out in Facadeville. I thought I'd check in. Everything's going fine for me and I listen every day, but don't always check in.
Speaker A: Good morning to y'.
Speaker C: All.
Speaker A: Well, thanks for dropping in, Fred. It has been a while since you and I have talked and great to hear you in this morning and you have a wonderful day ahead. Looks like we're back in for another bit of winterish weather. W1FRD AI6US73. That was Patrick into DYI with the key down. Good morning, Patrick. All right, let's see. Moving down the list up next is a New call from me, kc6jyh Good morning. Name and location.
Speaker E: Good morning. Kilo 36ua, Yankee Hotel, Rick in a portable. We're just south of Chico right now. Just wanted to say I enjoy listening to the net. I could hear Northern California pretty good. I guess we got a Lynx repeater up here Corning. So I've been listening to you quite a bit up there, Mount Lassen area, old station. I can hear you guys really good up there. So if anybody comes up here to Northern Cal wants to talk on a coffee net. 147705 or 147705? Yeah, 147105.
Speaker A: Excuse me.
Speaker E: I just want to let you know guys know I enjoy listening to you and I am connected up to you guys on Facebook too. I wish I got you guys at Weaverville though. Have a great day. KC6JYH portable.
Speaker A: All right. Well, very good, Rick. Thanks for that report. Yeah, the Whiskey Six Golf Romeo Charlie repeater system up there in Orland started connecting in oh about. I think it was about three weeks ago now. And yeah, it's wonderful coverage. That repeater all the way up to the border and yeah, doesn't quite make it over the Sierras. We seem to have a little problem on this side getting over to the other side there. Well, drop by anytime and pleasure to have you check in today. Thanks, Rick. KT6JYH mobile safely 7.3. Hey, good morning, Ka3vgm Jimmy.
Speaker C: Where it's very cold this morning. I think it's about 25 where I am this morning. And I'll be working on my computer today. So when I sign off I won't be morning because I pregnant as usual. But I will be back later today. So everybody back there, have a good day. And I'm gonna try to do the same with my cousin while we work on this computer K through vg. Thank you, Brian.
Speaker A: Well, good luck on the working on the computer project. Seems like every time I try to fix something or make something better on the project on the computer, it opens up a can of worms and I end up something that I allocated a half hour to is five hours, six hours down the road. Hopefully that doesn't happen to you today. Ka3vgm ai6us. Always a pleasure, Jimmy. Have a wonderful day. 7 3. K O's pick the bar. Good morning, Robert.
Speaker C: Well, good morning.
Speaker G: And this morning I'm actually doing something a little different. My, my CW oscillator went down yesterday. So I've got the back off of it and looking into it to see where the. I think it's just a short though, but I'm looking at it. It looks like somebody's already been inside of it doing some, doing some repair work. I will say so. I may have a little bit more than I think here, but working on my oscillators this morning over
Speaker A: last week I was having my truck smogged and they had a sign, you know, of their hourly rates and you know, it was like $85 an hour for, you know, basic 105 if you observe and 1165 if you try to assist. 195 if you tried working on it yourself first. Good luck on that oscillator.
Speaker G: Yeah, yeah, I see some, at least one line that looks like it's a twisted wire that's been stripped and put together and I don't know what else so far, but I'll figure it out.
Speaker A: Over. Well, this is perfect time. If you have that HF radio in your shack at this point, you could have just turned off the break in and used your radio for code practice. Kind of expensive off though.
Speaker F: Yeah.
Speaker A: But you can do a lot of
Speaker G: other things with that one.
Speaker F: Over.
Speaker A: Yes, sir. All right, Robert, Happy Tuesday to you. Thanks for checking in this morning and with that project. Hopefully we'll see some or hear some beeps from you more later.
Speaker G: Appreciate it. Kilo Oscar 6kmart. Turning it back over to the net. Thank you very much Al.
Speaker A: And you have a great Tuesday. Thanks, Robert. Clearing with K06 KMR and good morning. K5 Bravo Delta Lima. Your name and location.
Speaker C: Welcome.
Speaker F: Ai6us. And this is K5 VDL named Paris Brad Bravo Romeo Alpha Delta. Located in Pine Woods, Tyler, Texas. We're halfway between Dallas, Texas and Shreveport, Louis, Louisiana. 55 degrees on the weather station right now. Beautiful sunny skies. I think we're headed 70s today. So just really beautiful day out there and just wanted to check aboard and say good morning.
Speaker A: I've been through your area before. My, my cousin has lived down there for many, many years. A physician down in that area and yeah, just an absolutely beautiful area there, especially certain times of the year.
Speaker C: Well, welcome.
Speaker A: Thanks for dropping by this morning. Anything for the Net. We're a conversation based net but you kind of checked in during the time where we're just doing quick in and out. So just welcome back anytime.
Speaker F: Well, very good. Thank you for welcoming me on board there. And today's my Sunday at work this weekend work for a clinical laboratory in chromology. I'm a lead tech there and I would be totally off today, but our lab director has A lead tech meeting at 11 our time. So I've got to go do that. But at least I'll be off to record rest of the day, play a little ham radio and do some other things. All of you are there on Facebook and YouTube and I thought, oh, it's streaming in All Star node across the bottom there. So I thought, well, I'll dial in. So Back to you, K5BDL.
Speaker A: Well, enjoy your day off. And by the way, on your day off, you're recording required to attend a meeting. Doesn't sound like a day off to me. But it comes, I'm sure, comes with the responsibilities of your position. Brad, thanks for checking in and yeah, maybe I'll catch you on HF sometime. I tend quite active on HF, so maybe we'll cross paths. K5BDL, AI6US, always a pleasure and enjoy your day off working.
Speaker F: All right, 73 to all and catch you later. K5 BDL. 73 all.
Speaker A: All right, hope to catch you again sometime there, Brad. Clearing with K5BDL. Let's go ahead and put out one more call for quick in and outs. And let's keep these in, in and out under two minutes and we'll do one more round of quick in and outs and get into some rag chew. This is the coffee breaknet on the W16K repeater and connected nodes. Now let's see who else is out there this morning. I'm Brian AI6 us taking quick in and out check. INS, Kilo, Charo, Bravo 6, Lima, Uniform,
Speaker F: Victor, Kilo, Golf 6, number November, Lima,

Speaker A: All right, in all of that I noticed that will snuck in there. KJ, golf, whiskey, November. And good morning to Tim, W8LDT. And good morning to Mike, WG5EEK. And this entire round is just quickening out. So we'll be right back to you for a moment to say quick good morning. Got a KB5 Alpha, Kilo, Oscar. And let's see, I think I saw Frank come in there. I thought I heard Frank, but I don't see you on list. Oh, There we go, K6. There we go. KG6 in LW. And good morning to Brett, KB6 Luv. And good morning to Graydon, KC6 Sle. And I think I heard Aaron in there again. W1ATV did I miss anyone?
Speaker C: Kilo ocean 6 mike mike india jeff. Kb3ajn.
Speaker A: All right, Good morning Anna. KD3AJN and good morning to Jeff. K06MM and let's see, let's head up to the top. Just a reminder, these are all quick in and outs. KC6SLA Great.
Speaker H: Good morning Brian. With what few stands I have in the bottle there, I will remind people that we have a fox hunt coming up this Saturday after the club breakfast. So the pre meeting for the fox hunt will be in the parking lot
Speaker A: at Mel's at 9 o' clock and
Speaker H: then once we get through the pre meeting, get everybody signed in. Marty Ko6GX, who's going to be our foxtender, will get the fox hunt started. So encourage everybody to come out. The weather I was looking at the weather report. It looks to be spectacular on Saturday. So looking forward to a good fox hunt. Looking forward to this being Marty's first fox hunt. Marty is also the president of Nevada County Amateur Radio Club. So this is a good introduction to them to fox hunting. So if you're interested in fox hunting, please come out and join us. KC6SLE.
Speaker A: Yeah, fox hunting is something that we do here in Northern California once a month, rain or shine. And we always have a good time turnout and yeah, really looking forward to Marty being the fox tender for this fox hunt. And yes, we have a ton of fun and great introduction to people who maybe don't even have their license yet, but kids love it and it just is a wonderful activity to participate in.
Speaker C: All right.
Speaker A: Good morning Graydon. Anything else for the net this morning?
Speaker H: No, I'll let you get on with the list. I know you got a robust list there. 73 all KC6 sle.
Speaker A: Good morning to Grady and good morning to Lisa and you have a wonderful day. Thanks for checking in, Graydon. Always a pleasure. W1ATB. Aaron, thank you for the comments earlier. What do you have for the net this morning? W1ATB Aaron,
Speaker B: good morning, TV here. First of all, you're right, I was testing a new radio. Well, no radio. I switched radios last night to my FTM310. I'm testing a new mic on it with a new adapter, so somehow the memory got set to simplex. So sorry about that. Not much. Heading off to the oral surgeon here in a little bit and going to be dreading life I think for the next few days.
Speaker A: Oh man, sorry to hear that. I've had to visit with them a couple of times in the past couple Years. And yeah, I didn't come away happy either.
Speaker B: Something about, you know, happen to eat everything out of a cup for the next few days. Anyway, stuff that has to be done. But yeah, the hamclock.com site, I found that last night and it hasn't. Instructions for pretty much every platform on how to get that set up keep on going. So that was good. And it's pretty cool how the community comes alive when there's a need. So it's unfortunate that the creator has passed, but life goes on.
Speaker A: So the updates, I don't know if you did the update yourself, but do you have to load a new SD card or can you use the update path that was provided with amclock? Kind of an overview if you wouldn't mind for a second.
Speaker B: It looks pretty simple actually. Depending on the platform there's different instructions but you basically go in and you change the etc host file to point to a new server and then it goes goes out to that server to get the update. So according to him, I haven't done it yet. I'm going to do it maybe later today or tomorrow if I feel like it. But according to him, you don't even have to reboot, it'll just go out. It's getting its updates from a new site. So that's going to be a pretty simple update.
Speaker A: It's been very amazing though in the past couple weeks how people stay up with other platforms that really kind of brought things into the, you know, a new look, a fresh look to it, kind of their interpretation of Ham Clock. But you know, I do prefer the Ham Clock application having a local on my machine and just something about the look. It's enough retro and enough current to be enjoyed. So thank you very much. I'm going to give it a try as well and I'll report back and let you know how it goes. And thank you so much for that, for that info and you have a wonderful day. And yeah, I thought about what I said after I said it.
Speaker B: Oh, I'm sure it's gonna suck. Yeah. Check out openhamcock.com as well. That is an amazing.

Speaker A: Site.
Speaker B: It's web based off of their server,
Speaker C: but you can download it, install it yourself. You actually get features if you do it yourself. So I'm gonna do that at some point. Every time I load into that every day, it's like there's new things added. So that's another good one.
Speaker D: There's no reason you can't have both, so.
Speaker C: All right everybody, have a great day. 73w1aatb
Speaker A: yeah, I looked at open ham clock probably about three weeks ago and it just, it made my eyes bleed. It was just a little too much information. And yeah, it would be interesting if change window what appears in them, etc. So I'm going to take a look at it again. Sounds like some interesting updates have been done. Well, Aaron, hopefully you don't have a chatty oral surgeon who wants to have you talk through the whole procedure and yeah, definitely. Good luck to you and we'll look forward to a check in probably in a Couple of days. W1ATV AI6US73. Keb6luv Good morning Brett and company.
Speaker E: Good morning Brian and coffee breaknet land. Actually, I am flying solo this morning. My mom is actually taking care of some business in another room preparing for her travels back to Kansas which she will be doing early next week. Actually a week from today. It's amazing how fast a month can go by and my wife had a rough night. She's sleeping in this morning.
Speaker B: So just here.
Speaker E: I'm just flying solo this morning, but that's all good. Let me break for a quick sec. So what's on tap for today?
Speaker B: Well, yesterday I got a new to
Speaker E: me mano thinkpad T470 that I'm going to be using for my portable radio stuff. So I'm starting to download all of the things WSJTX FreeDV, you know, timing stuff, loggers stuff, getting everything to talk
Speaker F: to each other so that I can
Speaker A: take it out for either portable work or when I come back home I
Speaker E: can just, you know, plug it in and plug my home base station into it as well. So that's what's on tap for me.
Speaker A: Yeah, I really like the form factor on the on thinkpads and if you I believe good screen sensitivity and that sort of thing for you know, if you have applications that work in that mode. Very cool new toy for you that's always, always fun. Well, I don't know if Bonnie and your wife would like to come out for a fox hunt, but we are going to be having a breakfast fox hunt this next weekend and love to cross paths if that opportunity presents itself. If not, we understand she'll just be a voice that we recognize.
Speaker E: That is on what we are thinking about doing. I was going to ask you to
Speaker A: kind of take a look at the weather.
Speaker E: It looks like it's going to be
Speaker A: a little bit overcast and cloudy but no rain.
Speaker E: So that's good. But yeah, I think I will be bringing the wife and mother in tow this Saturday.
Speaker A: We'll see.
Speaker E: But yes, thank you for the invite. Truly appreciate it. All right. In the light of quick in and out, Brian, thank you for being there. Really appreciate you all the time. Amazing work to do with the other net control folks. Do everybody out there in Coffee Breaknet land, please have an amazing day. Take care of yourselves, take care of each other. KB6LUV Be of Love 73 clear listing.
Speaker A: Now you got me thinking it's time for me to upgrade my my laptop. They end of Life on Windows 10 so this you got me thinking. Think Pat again. Have a great day. Brett, thanks for checking in. Clearing with KB6LUV and Good Morning Frank. KG6 in LW. All right, Frank. Frank, something's going on with your radio. Try it again. KG6NLW AI6US. Sounds like a Kodak problem. Kodak problem, not Kodak. Kodak.
Speaker D: All right, let's see if this works now. I'm on repeat so I'm coming through IAX I coffee now.
Speaker A: Sounds great. Yeah, you sound like Alvin's chipmunks.
Speaker F: And no more to go.
Speaker A: Good morning
Speaker B: Alvin.
Speaker D: That's all I can think of. Anytime someone that says Alvin. Oh good morning Brian and coffee break. I will make this quick open amp talk. Their information only be pushed out on Tuesdays now. So instead of pushing out updates as they came in, it's going to be weekly on Tuesdays. So you get open hand clock Tuesdays. And for those that are in the IT business, you all know how Tuesdays are. So get ready. It's going to be lots of fun. Great to hear all these out. Hear a few old voices too. Hopefully that's a to hear. And this Thursday at 8pm local time have a big announcement on the NorCal swap net. So if you are there or able to be there, come on by and take a listen. If not it's going to be on YouTube just like the Coffee Breaknet is every morning. So we'll see. Hopefully we'll see you. Hopefully we see our report and yeah that's a little reminder. Good morning to Brad there. K5BDL. Thank you for the sub. I saw that pop up on the screen this morning as I was checking in. And I presume that's how you found the coffee break net.
Speaker B: So.
Speaker D: And if it is great, if not even, it's great to hear the coffee breaking it out there. Brian, back to you. I think I've chewed Everybody's ear on AI6US in Overcast.
Speaker A: I'm going to have to check out Open Ham Clock again. Like I said, too many colors, too many fonts, too many boxes a few weeks ago. And I'm interested to take a look at it again and see how it's being developed. I know it was very flux in flux at the time, so.
Speaker E: Excellent.
Speaker A: Well, thank you, Frank. You have a wonderful day ahead. And good morning to everybody out there on the YouTube live channel, KG6NLW, AI6US. Enjoy Stockton.
Speaker D: Oh, yeah. Always on the wrong side of the tracks down here. And it's time for Bethany, so.
Speaker A: Catch you later, Brian. Yeah, unfortunately, you know, I gotta hand it to Stockton. They have a great PR company to promote their city. But I think both sides of the tracks are the wrong side of the track currently. Still, things, things can change. I know, Frank. You have a wonderful day. KG6NLW, AI6US. Hey, let's check in with a new call sign for me. KB5 Alpha Kilo Oscar.
Speaker E: Good.
Speaker A: Good morning. Name and location.
Speaker B: Yes, thank you. Good morning Brian and everybody else. Victor, I'm sorry, I had divided attention. KB5A KO located in North Texas. This is the first time checking in as you just announced. I have listened for quite a while to this net and I enjoy it immensely. It's a very good net, top notch over.
Speaker A: Well, thank you very much. Yeah, you know, it's. The net was started about seven years ago just because I got tired of the old school folks talking about the good old days when you had to book time on the repeater and. And you know how I'm thinking to myself, man, more people than ever have amateur radios, you know, have HT's and mobiles in their car. And we have the ability to link things together. There is no reason that the best years were, you know, behind us for nets and such. So, yeah, that was kind of the incentive for this. Well, my name is Brian and. And I did not catch your name, but I'd like you in the log and welcome.
Speaker B: Okay, Brian, the name here is Victor V I C T O R And I do have a question. It would be a question with more just a yes or no answer since you're very well versed. In this. I don't want to take up the time here on the morning brew for everybody else to chime in. May very well be most appropriately presented on the allnodes net on Monday night, which is another excellent net, by the way. The question is All Star with all scans. I have an issue with the. The way all scan behaves in the manner that it scans the favorite channel here. It works intermittently. So I just. I have. I'm at wit's end. I've tried anything and everything to get it to stay latched in and not be intermittent. So I don't know, just. Have you ever something like that or should I? Monday night on the AllnodesNet.
Speaker A: Well, you spotted a weakness of mine. I do not run all scan. But I'm gonna check out there. I know there's a couple people I believe Patrick is probably monitoring right now, as is Tom and others, but I'll just throw it out there. Patrick, are you monitoring N2DYI. Or Doug? Excuse me? Or Tom, NN6H or anyone else who might have an answer there for Victor on the All Star. All scan being intermittent.
Speaker F: Non.
Speaker A: All Star.
Speaker F: Yeah, this is tom nsx h and I am afraid I don't use that. So I don't have the answer.
Speaker B: Sorry.
Speaker A: Okay, thank you very much, Tom. Yeah, yeah, probably you're right, Victor. Probably Monday night. The AllnodesNet probably would be your go to session on this. Sorry, I thought that we might be able to assist you on that. But yeah, I have no knowledge of all scan. I think I need to broaden my knowledge.
Speaker B: Okay, well, very good. I appreciate the attempt. No doubt about that. And it does not affect any other functionality of the node. Inbound and outbound phone traffic and everything else works perfectly. No hiccups whatsoever. It's just a manner in which the. The stats server is communicating with my nodes and you know, just updating the favorite channels there with the. With the stats there. Okay, well, I'll. I'll move on. And once again, thank you for this wonderful net here. Brian. 73 North Texas. 73 off.
Speaker A: Well, Victor, certainly we look forward to you dropping in maybe next Monday evening. And I think I will need to kind of dig a little deeper into all scan. I know quite a few people do use that and I think it would be a real good improvement for my own node. And just to learn as well.
Speaker C: Thank you.
Speaker A: Clearing with KB5 Ako Victor North Texas. And we'll invite you back another time. 7 3. And good morning to Mike Whiskey Golf five Echo Echo Kilo. Welcome to the coffee breaknet. Maybe we timed Mike out. WG5eek. Mike, are you there?
Speaker E: Hey.
Speaker F: Yeah, this is WG5EK. I actually just had to run an errand and I just made it back in time to hit my local node and good timing. The only thing I have, I guess, for the net is I am this new meter All Starlink node with the. The node itself is a Kenwood TK491. And then the HT I'm talking on is a Motorola XPR6580. I know I have a little bit of fan wine in there. I need to put a capacitor across the positive and negative. That's my goal for maybe this weekend. But other than that, I don't really have anything else for the net. But I do appreciate you having me.
Speaker A: WG5EEJ. All right, Mike. Our 900 MHz node. Very cool. That's not the usual thing we run across. And kind of curious how it's working for you. Do you run that in simplex?
Speaker F: Yes. Yeah, running in Simplex. It was very interesting to program the Kenwood because it uses FCC channelization. You can't like directly program the frequencies. You have to use a chart, but luckily the chart's out there. And then for the Motorola, it was just a simple hex. I will say on the Motorola, though, I did originally have it programmed down at the lower end of the band and the receive on it was very poor. Even standing 100ft away from the node antenna, it would receive terribly where my Quan Cheng, which can receive that high, worked really well. So I moved it up to the upper end of the ham band on 33cm, around 927ish and it works much better.
Speaker A: And do you think that was just because it was starting to get near the band edges for the filtering or any explanation for that for you?
Speaker F: Yeah, I do believe it is the filtering. This HT was originally not made to go that low for operation. It's really supposed to be, I think, around 936 MHz at the low end and then going down that far, it
Speaker A: just wasn't designed for it.
Speaker F: But if you stay, from what I've read online, if you stay like 925
Speaker A: and up, which doesn't give you too
Speaker F: much room for 33 centimeters, it works fine. But I do have another HT that should be here tomorrow, MTS9250. And that one is supposed to work much better across the entire 33 centimeter band. So I will do some testing when that comes in.
Speaker A: Comment? Yeah, go ahead with your comment.
Speaker G: Hey, good morning, Brian. And good morning to the Gentleman running the 900 MHz node. Sounds good. Just wanted to give you a comparison.
Speaker A: The speed of the two of you
Speaker G: go back and forth to the gentleman running the 900 MHz node.
Speaker A: You're about 3 to 6 db under
Speaker G: from an audio modulation standpoint. So while you sound good, I got to crank the volume up for you and then crank it back down when Brian comes. Just a heads up on that, just
Speaker A: for a point of reference here.
Speaker G: WB1G sounds good though.
Speaker E: Okay.
Speaker F: Yeah, thanks for. We'll go back into the Motorola software and try to bump up the mic
Speaker A: gain on that, see if we can
Speaker F: make it a little bit more punchy. But I know the, the one I've got coming is supposed to sound a lot better as well.
Speaker A: So we'll.
Speaker F: I'll do some comparison with that Parrot node that's out there.
Speaker A: It's pretty cool.
Speaker F: And yeah, I'll try to tune it better. But thank you. I appreciate the. The comment there. WG5eek.
Speaker A: Well, Mike, that comment might have actually been aimed at me. Smitty may have been calling me a loudmouth. You never know combination of the two. But no, I agree with Smitty. Your audio is down a bit there and we'll look forward. Please check back in when you. When you get that other new radio. And we'll look forward to hearing that. But yeah, great. 900 MHz simplex node. And Mike, I better get moving down the list here, but thanks for checking in this morning. Got you in the log. W G 5 E K A I 6 US for the coffee break. That 73.
Speaker D: Another quick comment.
Speaker A: Go to bed, Frank.
Speaker F: Good morning. Go ahead,
Speaker D: Mike. Just to give you an idea, I
Speaker G: just sent you a link to the
Speaker D: live stream and, and the timestamp for it so that you can tell how you sound. KG6 Melza. Yes. Go to bed, Frank.
Speaker A: No great resource for him to check for comparison. Just. Yeah, well, the Parrot 55553 is an excellent resource. Nothing quite like hearing your audio in a group discussion or a cusone. So thanks. Good point. All right, clearing with WG5EEK and let's see if Tim is still with us. W8LDT Good morning. W8DT Good morning, Brian. I'm about two minutes from breakfast, so that's about perfect time.
Speaker F: And I just don't have a whole
Speaker A: lot for the net. It's 22 degrees here in Michigan. And sorry to hear about.
Speaker B: Sorry to hear about Ray.

Speaker A: Really broke up about that.
Speaker B: Yeah, certainly Ray will be missed. You know, he was somebody that was usually the first to check in on a net and was always there to help us monitor the repeater and, and you know, helped out in so many ways. And he had just moved down to our area, down to Sacramento about 36 years ago and certainly embedded himself in our community. And, you know, one of those individuals will be noticeably missed. And yeah, it's a tough one to let go of a.
Speaker A: Yes, yes, absolutely.
Speaker B: You've done a great job.
Speaker A: Wellness check. You know, I, you know, it's one thing to do a wellness check, but
Speaker B: you did it pretty quick.
Speaker A: And I think, you know, to be able to, you know, miss him within a day was very impressive to me.
Speaker B: So.
Speaker A: So anyways, I'm gonna get out of here. I'm pulling into my lunch spot right now. Go in there and have me some coneys. Ai6uswa LVT7 3.
Speaker B: Well, Tim, you know, I know I felt something was wrong a day earlier and you know, I shouldn't be beating myself up over it, but I'm even kind of questioning myself, why did I wait more day, you know, when I noticed he wasn't said, didn't check in on Wednesday evening. And then Thursday morning, you know, he didn't check in for the coffee break net. And then Thursday night he wasn't there for the, for the win for our Thursday night net. And I mean, red flags were flying. And part of me goes, could things have been a little bit different had I just acted on that gut feeling just a little sooner? And I think what I believe with this is just go with that gut feeling and, you know, act on it. And even though, you know, I did, but, you know, I just wonder if things could have been different had I actually done it sooner. And I know you can't beat yourself up over what ifs, what, you know, whatevers, but, you know, it's tough. It's really tough knowing that you probably could have acted on it sooner. So, Tim, enjoy your breakfast there and enjoy that cool weather and sharpen up the blades on those ice skates.
Speaker A: Oh, and I got one more thing. The guy just before me, Frank, has a live stream. So I'd be interested in listening to that live stream.
Speaker B: I know.
Speaker C: Yeah.
Speaker B: Tim, are you still monitoring? Yep, I'm still here.
Speaker A: Yes, I would like a link to
Speaker B: that live stream if I could.
Speaker C: Go ahead.
Speaker B: Yeah. Frank, I'm sure you didn't go to sleep yet. Frank, do you want to give the info? Otherwise I'll look up the link here.
Speaker D: Oh, I had to connect back in via ix here. Yeah, you caught me, Brian.
Speaker E: I'm not quite.
Speaker D: I'm in bed now, so any anytime my call. Tim Kilo Golf 6 November, Lima, Whiskey, KG6NLW is all you have to put in the search bar on YouTube. It'll come up with Ham Radio Wilderness with Frank. That is my channel and that's where you can find all the Coffee Breaknet live streams as well as many other fun live streams.
Speaker B: Great. Thank you very much.
Speaker A: You guys have a great day. And I'll be back to listen to the end of the net here. So inside I go seven three Brian.
Speaker D: And Brian, I'm closing IAS out.
Speaker B: You have a wonderful day ahead. And. I see I was doubling with Frank there. Frank, sorry, go back to bed. And thank you for checking in. I. I was called out there on information that I should have had in the back of my head. Yes, KG6NLW on YouTube and back to bed. You go there, Frank. Thanks a lot. Good morning. KJ5 Golf Whiskey November. Good morning, Will.
Speaker C: Comment?
Speaker B: Yeah, go ahead with comment and then. And we'll try Will again in a moment.
Speaker C: Hey Brian. I had to take my bridge early. Katie's excuse today. Just wanted to say and I'm really sad about our dear friend's passing Ray, but I wanted to say that you saved gave him extra time to mouth I said wouldn't have had and made sure that he was cared for. So while we can all second guess what you know, coulda, woulda, shoulda, I wouldn't care that for too long. So a hero. You still did the right thing and you made sure he got here. And even though he passed, I'm sure he was in a better place situation where no one found him. So I don't know if I'm very articulate today because I'm really sad. He was a great guy. Katie. Excuse the H Vac.
Speaker B: Yeah. Peter, thank you. You know, I. I understand and I feel the same way. But you know, it's just you felt something and you didn't act on it and you know, you waited 24 hours to act on it and it's just, I don't know, one of those things. So thank you. I agree. It was better the way, you know, that he was able to be comfortable at least.
Speaker C: Yeah.
Speaker B: Thank you. KD6 Cusick got you in the log there, Peter. And you have a wonderful day. KJ5 Golf Whiskey November. Are you back?
Speaker F: Yeah, I had to go over to Echo Link my old Star was getting a lot of packet launch so I had to switch over to Echo link so I had to do that real quick. Anyway, just a quick weather update. We are under a moderate high fire danger today. The wind's not supposed to be as bad Wednesday tomorrow and toward Thursday, but then it's going to go back up on Friday and then we're going to get several rounds of rain which we desperately need starting the first week in March. So if Mark can comment on that whenever he comes on, I would appreciate that. So anyway, not doing too much here. The fires are out of my area so we'll just see what happens the rest of the night.
Speaker B: I was reading that they now have what the fire's just down to. Two fires are burning, still too many. But yeah, I certainly wish the rain to come your way as soon as possible and hopefully you get a good enough dousing. I know when we have wildfires out here in California it takes quite a bit of rain to get a good enough soaking to knock it down completely and lessen that chance. Will, thanks for checking in this morning and yeah, no packet loss on this connection and but you're sounding good. KJ5GW AI6US. You have a wonderful well 73. All right, clearing with will and good morning jeff. K06mmi.
Speaker E: Good morning Brian. Good morning. Coffee break next. This is Kilo Ocean 6 Mike Mike India Jeff in East Roseville standing out on his back porch in the rain. Just started to rain a little bit but still beautiful, beautiful cloudy overcast day. I really enjoy these kind of days. It is the kind of fish, the kind of weather that fish enjoy. Therefore I like it too.
Speaker B: Well, do fish enjoy it as much as when you come around? It sounds like you might be trying to alter their lifestyle
Speaker E: foreign really trying to make them late for whatever appointment they've got going. I'm strictly catch and release. Love to go fly fishing. We've got lots of beautiful riverways out here in the Sacramento Valley and all around the valley. So yeah, a little sportsman like keep it nice with the fish. Want to let them grow, let them be healthy and let them enjoy their lives too.
Speaker B: So do you without giving away your favorite spot, do you have a favorite river or general location?
Speaker E: There's a little creek out behind my house called Dry Creek and in the summer I like to take my little 5 year old daughter down there and we fish in the creek down there for some panfish. But if I'm going just for me,
Speaker C: I like to go in the early
Speaker E: morning after work and Head up the American river, try to catch some steelhead in this beautiful kind of weather.
Speaker B: That is so interesting you mentioned Dry Creek because I've lived down in the valley a number of years before I moved up here to Meadow Vista. And Dry Creek is not a place that I really comes to mind when I think of good fish spot. So how interesting. But yes, definitely a lot of people head down and fish around the confluence and other areas. Well, Jeff, good morning to you and sorry to make you stand out in the rain. I picture you with an HT trying to find that best signal somewhere on the porch. And thank you for the fortune. Giving up health and. And everything to check into the net. Do you have resources to put up an outdoor antenna?
Speaker F: I believe I will eventually.
Speaker E: The goal is to get something figured out here. There's lots of lines that cross over the property here.
Speaker C: I'm.
Speaker E: I just rent so I would probably put something up semi stealthily. That's the goal eventually when it gets a little base station radio but that we got to get the base station going first. I've got a paddle coming in and I've got a little.
Speaker C: What do you want to call it?
Speaker E: A little adapter so I can start practicing my cw. Get up chops. Get my chops up here. We'll see how it comes.
Speaker B: Well, sounds like you have a plan, so very cool. Well Jeff, you have a wonderful day ahead. And yes, notice a couple raindrops starting to come down here up in Meadow Vista as well. We had a wet evening and looks like we're back into the. Back into the rain zone. But like I said, the fish don't care. Why should we? Ko6mmiai, ai6us. You have a great Tuesday.
Speaker E: Thank you Brian. Thank you all. Wishing you a Happy and wonderful day.
Speaker B: 73 to you.
Speaker E: All clear and monitoring
Speaker B: and probably, probably tying a couple of flies there, getting ready to head out. So you have a wonderful day. Good morning to Anna. KD3AJN. Uh oh, maybe we timed on out this morning. Kd3han.
Speaker G: Good morning Brian and everyone else on the net this morning. Just wanted to send my condolences to Thomas and Christina. I have heard Ray on the net for a long time now and I've really got to know him a little bit just by hearing him talk and we're all going to miss him.
Speaker B: I know that Thomas is probably listening in as they're kind of trying to clear out the raised place and sure that will get passed on to Christina.
Speaker A: Yes.
Speaker B: You know, without Ray we would not have met Thomas or Christina. You know, his passion for the hobby definitely rubbed off and encouraged them to get their licenses. And now they're very active. They, of course, moved to Tennessee and they've taken that passion for amateur radio along with them out there. So, yes, indeed, a lot of people will pass through our lives and have tremendous impact on us.
Speaker G: I was talking to Ray the other day and I said, I feel like I know these people. I hear them almost every day. And you feel like they're a part of your life. Other than that, not too much else going on today. Just hanging out at home. Everybody have a good day and stay safe. KD3 Han
Speaker B: nets like this certainly make a community. You know, when we started this net, I had no idea, you know, that we the friendships that would be formed and you would find that through the conversation format, you would find that you have interest with someone else outside of amateur radio. And so many friendships have been formed in other things that we have in common. But then we always have that amateur radio in common as well. And yes, we do learn a lot about each other and get connected and that's one thing that I absolutely love about the net. Ana, you have a wonderful day. Thank you for checking in this morning and we'll check in another time with you. KD3AJN AI6US73.
Speaker G: Brian, I just wanted to say I feel like I know everybody on this net and I've learned a lot from all the different conversations that come out of this net. And it just makes me happy to be able to get on here every day and listen and, and talk to people. You have a great day. 73 AD 3 Han.
Speaker A: Absolutely.
Speaker B: Yeah. I could not say it any better than what you just did. We make friends and we get to know each other better. Ana, thank you for checking in this morning and you have A wonderful Tuesday. KD3AJM AI6US and good morning. Coffee breaknet on the W6EK repeater. Let's go ahead and open it up for regular rag chew. If you're short on time, please let me know that you need to be in and out. I'll put, put you at the top of the list. Good morning and welcome to the Coffee Breaknet where the sun is always shining, the birds are singing and the fish are jumping. I'm Brian AI6US and let's take, let's take check ins. Who's out there today? Wb1g in and out please.
Speaker C: 6 GCL. Good morning, Brian. Ko6th Good morning.
Speaker B: Well, that was our kerfuffle and a half this is who I heard. Good morning, greg, ko60h. And good morning to dave, k6dcl. And good morning to smitty, wb1g. Good morning to larry, k06ihj. And good morning to daniel, n9muf. And I know there were few others that I missed. I think you are rf local stations. And 6xyz, Kj5mn vi, delta, x ray November. All right. Heard simone in their k60x in and and let's see. Kj5 november, mike zulu, good morning to you. New call from me and n6xyz. Good morning to you there, roy and.

2026-02-24 16:53:12 UTC 1200.0s · W6GRC TX (147.105 MHz)

Speaker A: And let's see. Ko6th. Good morning, Greg. And good morning, Dave. K6TCL. All right. And Smitty was a in and out. Anybody else on this list? In and out. Got Larry. K06ihj. As in and out. There was one other station. In and out.
Speaker B: The Double Master xyz.
Speaker A: The Duble V. The Double Master xyz. All right. And did I miss anyone? I'm going to fill in the blanks there if I missed anyone. Please, come on now. You're joining a long list.
Speaker C: November 6, Delta Tango, in and out.
Speaker A: You're joining a long list unless you are eight pounds. Good morning. Good morning, Rick. N6DT. All right, let's visit first with our in and outs and then we'll get regular ragchu. So I have four in and outs and then we'll go up to the top of the list. Good morning, Larry. K06IHJ. Good morning, Brian. Good morning. Coffee breakneck? Yep. Quick in and out. It's grocery day. I gotta go get some food. I got the list being made. I'm sitting in front of the fta. Things are looking good this morning like yesterday, but other than that, we're gonna get rain. So you know what that means.
Speaker B: Everybody, wrap it up, cover it up, roll it up.
Speaker A: Let's don't get the rain in the shacks. We don't need electricity with water. Other than that. Everybody have a blessed day. I'm going to send them back to you, Brian. KO6ISJ. I got to put pants on. Too much information. You know, the bands were pretty good yesterday just because it says zero on the sunspot number and you don't see any activity on the sun. Remember, that takes a few days to reach us. And so yesterday I don't know if you turned off the radio because the sun didn't look good, but I got to tell you, there were some pretty good conditions and the bands are quiet. Meaning noise level. Yeah, I'm looking at my right now. It is clean. It's just people chatting on the scope. All I see, yep, the noise level is considerably low. And yeah, it's kind of nice. But some, some stuff is spinning around on the sun. We'll. We'll have a noisy side towards us here in a few days. K06IHJ AI6US. You have a wonderful day, Larry. And to stock that food cabinet. 7373 and good morning, Smitty. Via B1G. Hey, good morning.
Speaker D: Good morning. I'm not known typically for being very good at in n Out. But I got a call here in a few minutes, so I will keep it short and sweet. Listening to the net this morning and thinking a lot about our dear friend Ray. Posted a short little video of him yesterday on Groups IO and it captures his personality.
Speaker A: And very rarely do you see Ray with a big grin on his face. Sometimes it's hard to tell if you
Speaker D: were getting a scowl or a smile, but that smile always creeped out. It was after the scowl. But at any rate, I put a video out there in case anyone wants to enjoy that. Also, if you're a friend or member of the club, I'll be sending an email out shortly. I've talked to Thomas and Christina and we're going to try to get together a little later on this week. Anybody who loves Ray or wants to spend a little time with Thomas and Christina, we have a little get together later this week where we're just going to tell stories, eat some burgers and potentially throw one back on his behalf. I'll let it break real quick. I've been thinking a lot about you because you your wellness check and I heard you talking earlier and I heard a lot of people say their comments and I agree with everything that was said on the net this morning. But I'll, I'll say this much. Today is the seventh anniversary and today is what I call Mom Day, my mom's celebration day. My mom passed away 27 years ago today and it was earlier this morning. And so I, you know, obviously with Ray's passing and with the anniversary of my mother's death, I really got to think and the one thing I'll say is, you know, woulda, coulda, shoulda regarding the wellness check. But at the end of the day, Ray passed peacefully with people that he loved. He wasn't alone. And you come into this world, you come into this world, you're not alone. You come into this world, right? You got doctors and nurses and mom, of course mom and hopefully dad and people that you love welcoming you into the world. You should go out the same way. And your wellness check guaranteed that for Ray and that in itself is more valuable, especially 27 years now reflecting on the loss of my mom. She wasn't alone. She had all of us around her and loving on her and Ray wasn't alone.
Speaker A: And that is awesome. So thank you.
Speaker D: That's it for my in and out.
Speaker A: Okay.
Speaker E: A little long.
Speaker D: 2 minutes. Little over 2 minutes.
Speaker A: WB1G73. Well, happy mom day to you there, Smitty. You know, I understand I lost my mom this past year and life certainly certainly changes and reflection on the times we did have with our moms. And I understand you know the time Ray did not have to pass alone and that is very important. Absolutely. Thank you for your for your kind words and our thoughts go out to you because these can be tough days as well. Thomas had checked in earlier and mentioned that probably planning something for Burgers and Brew maybe on Thursday. So we're just looking forward to the announcement. I know that isn't in stone yet so we will look forward to a time that we can get together with Thomas, Christina and maybe Steve and also Ros to Ray. Thanks.
Speaker D: You got it Brian hopping off for my call. I did confirm with Thomas this morning because obviously I want to make sure
Speaker A: that he was good with it or
Speaker D: looking at five on Thursday at Burgers and Brew. Again I'll have it in the email but you're welcome to add it there to the coffee break in your in your resets as you as you take check ins. Thursday 5pm Burgers and Brew Auburn and we're going to endure some burgers and some brew and some stories about Ray. WB1G7 3
Speaker A: think it would be very appropriate to get something on Facebook and group as well because you know there's just a lot of people out there that may not watch the coffee or may not get the email from us. We will get the word out there Thursday 5pm burgers and brew. We'll get to say hello to our good friends and moved far far away to Tennessee Thomas and Christina and we will stop stories and celebrate Ray's life. WB1G thank you Smitty. You do well for the club and everything you do. Much appreciated clearing with a WB1G and next will be Roy in 6XYZ. Good morning.
Speaker F: Good morning Brian everyone.
Speaker B: I got a boogie I got an
Speaker F: appointment right now but I did want to check in say hi and little correction I know it's been a while since I've checked in but it's Rob.
Speaker A: That's okay.
Speaker F: All right well just wanted to say hi and wow I didn't know about Ray but definitely do now.
Speaker A: Rob there is a Roy with the call sign soaked similar to yours. So yes all the points to is you got to check in more often. I know who you are and we miss having you around my friend. Yeah Ray will be missed that is for sure. I hope hope that things good things have been happening to you that have kept you away from the rad.
Speaker F: They certainly have and I won't hold it against you. You got it right on the phone the other day, so I appreciate it. All right, I got to run into this appointment and I'll talk to you all later.
Speaker B: N6XYZ.
Speaker A: All right, you have a wonderful day. And thank goodness I got it right on the phone. All right. KJ5NMZ, good morning. Oh, maybe we timed him out. N6. Excuse me. Kj5nmz, are you there?
Speaker B: What's kj5mnv kilo juliet 5 mike november victor.
Speaker A: Well, I really messed that one up, didn't I? Good morning. KJ5 Mike November Victor. I got it right now. Good morning.
Speaker B: I'm just hearing about the passing of your friend and I just also operators Mother's Day two days ago. It was a 10th anniversary. Losing my wife. That's also our wedding anniversary, to tell you the truth. But with that aside, I heard an operator earlier, earlier that was asking about all scan. And I tried to comment in but couldn't get through and had an answer for him. I don't know if he's still listening.
Speaker A: Okay, that would have been Kilo Bravo Five Alpha, Kilo Oscar Victor. Are you still monitoring?
Speaker E: Yes, sir, I am kb5ako.
Speaker A: All right, go ahead and go direct.
Speaker B: Okay, I've ran into that with all scan. I'm running an ASL3 and I don't know which ASL you're running, but they work on both and it was quite flaky. So what I did was through either if you're running ASL3, go through the terminal or SSH into it and you can, you can search uninstall. You have to be a bit careful, you know, it'll come up and ask you some questions if, you know, if you let me reset. During its uninstall, it'll ask you a couple of yes or no questions. You have to be careful of those. I made that mistake and had to refresh my ASL3, but that didn't take long either. And then once it was all cleared out, reinstalled it again and it's been just solid as could be ever since. So, yeah, that's. That's the advice I would give. I really like all scan. It, you know, it pulls your favorites out of your supermon. Superman's a little more clunky to go between different nodes and all scan is. It's quick and you can tell and you can, as you know, you can tell on all scan which nodes are active and which aren't.
Speaker E: Yes, sir. Yes. I like the feature where it tells you where the Nodes are active or not. And another thing that I miss is that whenever I click on a call sign, I may want to pull up their status and to see if they're connected or not before I connect to them because they may be on a big network or something and I wouldn't want to interrupt anything.
Speaker C: So.
Speaker E: Okay, I would do that. I think I'm running. I'll start 371. I think I was. I'm not looking at it right now, but I think it's what it is. So in a nutshell, just real quickly you're saying just uninstall all scan and then reinstall all scan?
Speaker A: Yes sir, that's correct. If you do a search or you
Speaker B: use an AI, it'll actually put all of the lines of code that you use through SSH or through the ASL terminal. You could use either one and you just go down the list. I would just like. I'll just say it again, you know, at times it'll ask you yes or no questions. A couple of those yes or no questions will impact actual node install. But just like I said, I made that mistake and just said yes to everything and cleared it all out and then had to refresh, not reload the whole node all over again. It kept all of my, all of my settings and so that it really didn't take very long and then just went back and went to the All Star page with that auto install and instead of copying every line, instead of copying all of those lines at one time like it offers, I went back in one line at a time and it.
Speaker A: That just worked.
Speaker E: Okay, thank you very much for that. And, and it crossed all four of my nodes. So you know, at first I thought, because it kept coming up with a port 80 error and I thought, well, maybe my provider is blocking inbound port 80 traffic. But I did open up port 80 inbound traffic so I could see my dashboard remotely out in the field on the wide area network and not a problem at all it seems. Port 80 traffic with no issue at all. So. Okay, well, I'm going to do that. Like I say, it does not affect any other functionality of the node. Everything else works perfectly. It's just that the stats server is not in there. KB5Ako thank you sir. And Brian, thank you as well.
Speaker B: No problem my friend. I'm just glad that you were still listening and was able to share that information to you and. Okay, yep, I'll send it back in that control. Have a great day everybody. Kj5mnv73
Speaker A: well, glad that we could connect you guys up and start. Certainly hope that that takes care of that intermittent all scan problem for you there, Victor. And for the log I just wanted to make sure I got the name right. KJF Mike November. Victor, the FCC calls you Bernard. I'm not sure what your friends call you. What should we call you?
Speaker B: Yes, it is KJ5MNV and my name is Bernie and live in the New Orleans metro area.
Speaker A: All right, I have you in the log is Bernie and welcome back anytime and thank you so much for helping out. I hope that is a fix for him. Thanks for checking in.
Speaker B: Sir and like I said, have a great day. Y' all take care. KJ5MNV73
Speaker A: all right, that's Bernie down out of Louisiana and let's check in with Rick now. N6 Delta Tango. Good morning Rick, we didn't forget about you. What do you have for the net?
Speaker C: Okay, Brian, good morning. Yes Rick. N60T. Let's see real quick. Actually got all equipment running before change and back on fm. Coming in directly to the repeater which is a little unusual but condolences about Ray to all the friends and family there and we put a little thing on on our Facebook page for the Lodi Club regarding Ray passing. And anyway you all take care 73s and this is N60T. I'll be clear
Speaker A: just as a point of reference. First of all thank you very much for posting that up. Yeah I know he had checked in around on different nets and a very recognizable and memorable guy. So thank you for doing that. Just kind of a point of reference for you. You are coming into one of our voter receivers up Mountain Top in auburn at about 75%. So pretty good for from your area and a decent signal. So there you go, point of reference. Rick, have a wonderful day. Glad to have you back on RF73 Brian.
Speaker C: Take care.
Speaker A: Thank you. Clearing within six Delta Tango. Now up to the top. Good morning Daniel in nine mutual. Good morning Brian and the net.
Speaker G: It's just really great to hear all those tributes to Ray this morning. Found out last night that one of my Elmers passed away. I had thought I had located him and went to track him down again. I was going to reach out to him and let him know how far I'd come in the hobby and found out he passed away a few years ago.

Speaker A: So if you've got an Elmer in your that you need to thank, do it soon rather than later.
Speaker B: Yeah. At the end of the Olympics, trying to remember which. Which sport it was. But a girl had come on and, and she had said, you know, she had won the gold and she was late to the press conference. She said, sorry, guys, I'm late, but my grandmother just passed and I just found out about it. And she was one of my biggest influences to make me just go for it. And yeah, you know, those, those people that impact our lives, it's wonderful to share with them. And I was just thinking, man, I hope her grandmother got to see her win the gold. You know, it's one of the things. Great reminder. Thank you, Daniel.
Speaker A: Well, he would have appreciated how much I'm doing CW now, since the reason I didn't get the novice license during his class was the fact that I couldn't lock in on cw. It was the old style where they handed you the sheet of paper and said, memorize it. Until I really started to focus on the tapes that I could quit doing that double translation that shuts down so many people.
Speaker B: Yep. And that's kind of where I'm stuck when it comes to numbers. When I hear more than four DITs and DAWs, my brain just goes, ah, locks up. And then I for. I'm missing everything trying to do a count. I know I gotta listen for the sound. I will get it, I promise. Well, Daniel, good reminder to thank those around us for the positive impacts they've had on our life and before it's too late. Good reminder.
Speaker A: And I know that Ray probably got a lot of thank yous when he was alive, but it's just that reminder, if there's somebody you need to thank, absolutely do it. Now in terms of another person I need to thank, I managed to switch over from the straight key to the paddle yesterday. Made a contact with it. And right now, both that paddle and the straight key, the very tiny straight key that I'm using, that I'll be
Speaker C: using,
Speaker A: trying to get current on that again since it requires a bit of a different touch. But both of those were gifts from my late mother in law, and I just feel like I'm honoring her every time I use it. I didn't feel solid enough with CW to use that paddle, but now that I am, it's just I can kind of, you know, hear her. I can feel her smiling, if that makes any sense, because I know she's. She appreciates that I took her and the way it Was meant to be used.
Speaker B: Oh, so you mean you're using your gift unlike my paddle that sits here and sitting in plexiglass cover, mocking me daily.
Speaker A: Well, that's why I say I'm using it like it's meant to be used. You're using it as well, but I mean, it's a very different use.
Speaker B: You know, I was thinking the other day, I need to just move it out of my sight line. It's right under my monitor, right beside my audio mixer and it just looks at me every day going, you know, you're never going to win anyway. Well, good morning Daniel. What do you have going on today?
Speaker A: A couple of recruiter phone calls, hopefully some more CW in the afternoon, but I've got to leave around 4 o'.
Speaker D: Clock.
Speaker A: My music partner and I have an interview at 9:00am Chicago, Chicago radio station. I'm not sure if they've got a or else, but it'll be a good evening. And so either way you cut it, I get radio today.
Speaker B: Okay, this radio station that you're headed to, which hobby does this pertain to?
Speaker A: This is more related to the music, which I always tend to describe vacation rather than a hobby. But he and I are both going to talk about our albums and then talk about the band that we started together called Observations, which is a Prague band. But the way that we put it is what if Tom Petty had discovered Prague instead of the Beatles?
Speaker B: I remember you mentioning that before. Very cool. And what type of radio station is this? High power college station? What, what's their audience?
Speaker A: That I have no idea. I was merely told about it and asked if I could show up and give him a lift. And I'm like, well, you know, it's going to be late, but it's worth it. Publicity at this stage of the game seems to be the most important thing. Been there, done it before and always appreciated any form of exposure get. No, not that kind of exposure. These things where, you know, people die of exposure. But at the same time you need to find a way to publicize and neither one of us are really good at that. We're better at playing music than we are promoting music. Music.
Speaker B: Oh, I can hear it now. Covering all of the one block area of South Chicago with 500 milliwatts of power. This is.
Speaker A: I'm joking.
Speaker B: Have a fun time this evening. That does sound fun. Been a while since I've actually been behind a microphone in a studio.
Speaker A: Well, I think this one is actually covers two city blocks, not one. I'll just take comfort in the fact that city blocks in Chicago are large. So maybe it'll cover, you know, more than 20 people. But with that I know it's a long list. So three to you and to the net. Always a pleasure. All is a joy. 73 to you. N9nuf.
Speaker B: Only poking fun because I know many FM stations have incredible coverage and others have. Yeah, barely make it to the back pew. M9 MUF AI6US and good morning Dave. K6DCL.
Speaker C: Hey, good morning Brian and Annette. Good morning to everybody and I'm so happy for N6DT. Rick did a great job on RF. I wish I could do that even with 85 watts. I tried. Propagation just isn't right. But I'm hidden behind a mountain. It is what it is. So anyway, gotta stop crying about it. Anyway, not much going on here. We're gonna go get Lucy's nails done. They're pretty bad. She usually keeps in much better. So she has an excuse. Her favorite male person has been sick with the flu and then the owner of the place tried to con her in coming up anyway and she give her a discount and she said what would be with the discount? And that's less than what she paid. So the owner I think tried to pull a rip off but anyway I would go find somebody else but alas, I'll try it one more time. Today she's just going to walk in there and see if her prey favor cushions in there and then do a setup. Anyway, other than that messing around here and had the radios on skin just not much going on today. It's warmer than has been and 54 degrees so that's not bad for this time of the morning. And it's going to be a warmer day today than it has been, so that's good. We have not received any rain here, so we're disappointed a little bit to have warm rain. But we don't need the warm rain up where the snow is because it would cause flooding. And we had an announcement yesterday afternoon that we have to conserve water because our water canal and service water to Trelawney county got damaged and made a storm and made bad time to repair it. So we're on water conservation. I guess. I can't brush my teeth anyway. That's probably the only thing I can do. Had my acupuncture yesterday and he let me stay on the mat too long, I think. And my right hip is. My right hip and leg has been bothering me ever since I left the place. Luckily I go back to see him on Thursday because I'm going to have to tell him I may not be coming back. I've never had this done by an acupuncturist. Anyway, it is what it is and I hope it goes away, which it probably will. K6DCL Back to you, Brent.
Speaker B: Will, you can keep those acupuncture pens. I am so glad they work for you. The only thing that they would do for me is probably improve my gait as I run away screaming like a little baby. No acupuncture. I'm glad that you can get there. I've had friends who have had wonderful results from it and I wish the same for you. But for me, oh, I just can't get over the thought of. That's a needle. That is a frickin needle. You want to poke it?
Speaker D: Where?
Speaker B: Well, you have a wonderful, wonderful day. Thanks for checking in this morning and yeah get her nails looking beautiful and yeah, something didn't sound right. Sounds like. Yeah, maybe the shop owner is trying to steal a client. K6DCL AI6US. You have a wonderful day.
Speaker C: K6DCL See you later. 73.
Speaker B: All right. Clearing with Dave and say hello to Lucy for us. We'd love to hear her again sometime on the radio. Hey, good morning Greg Ko6th.
Speaker D: Morning Brian. Morning everyone. Greg Ko6th the trick with acupuncture is to count the needles as they go in and count them as they come out and make sure you end up with the same number. My wife, I mean fairly good acupuncturist I guess she was. I forget what condition she was using them for but one day she came home and those natural needles were sitting kind of tangled in her hair and oh well, didn't do any damage I guess. I tried it once. The stuff that they burned to there was some kind of a.
Speaker A: Just.
Speaker D: I don't know. Looked like wet tea leaves that they set ablaze and that just the smell of it. I still remember the smell but I don't remember it did any good. Anyway, yesterday was yard work. Filled up an entire trash can and a half see it entire trash can with the remains of a tree that I took out and the trash guys came and emptied it so I filled it up again and another half a trash can. So I'm trying to save enough space for this week's trash. The normal stuff and yeah in the meantime letting the body rest today tomorrow's gonna be grocery trip and then we have in the shack tomorrow night and we have a special guest that'd be you with a little Quick demo and then Thursday it's gonna be a boat day. So busy week. Ksxth, back to you.
Speaker B: Yes. Tomorrow evening you asked me to give a short Demo on the FT2 Fox Tango 2 mode of digital mode which has an incredibly short 2 point or 3.7, 3.8 second cycle very fast. I'd gotten a notice from Insyx Ken that the software, the package that's being distributed did not meet the requirements for the licensing. And so I believe that's been worked out. It looked like the author has now uploaded the source information which is required for the general use license. So I think you know, one of those things, you know, yes, advance the hobby but don't break any rules.
Speaker D: Yeah, open source licenses can be tricky. Not a big deal if you kind of work it through. That was one of my jobs before I retired at a project that was pretty heavily into open source. There's a lot of, lot of pieces to it. We made some glue of our own to stitch things together and the company required a formal disclosure. The thing is though, I don't think we ever had anybody actually download the source. We had it up on FTP site someplace. Made it available, we made it available and you know, contact us, we'll send you a floppy or something. What it was now to send you something. Zero takers, absolutely zero. But you know it's gotta be out there per the license things and there's GPL3B was just coming out and kind of messed things up a bit. It was a bit of a, bit of a mess there but anyway, let's see what are the questions I'm going to ask tomorrow? Not FT8, not FT2 question but I'm considering what to get for the boat. I need vhf, UHF and hf. Nothing super fancy but small size and reasonably capable and recommendation on what to do. So anyway I'm sure you have some ideas on that. Let me know tomorrow night. Ko6th
Speaker B: well, I certainly would buy separates, you know, the marine vhf, uhf, you know they are very weather resilient and you can have dual heads on it so you can have something down below sheltered and protected and you can have a head up at the operating position. And yeah so I definitely for bases basics I would go with separates. One thing that I've heard from people who have had HF on boats before is you know, HS just don't hold up too good under seagoing conditions. So I think there's other people that are more suited because all had on a boat is VHF uhf. I wasn't radio at the time. But I know John and Jim and many others out there have had HF on their boats for years. So we put sources out there for folks who can say, you know, oh, that's malarkey. You can just buy any HF and throw it in the boat. And maybe that's true now that we're into more, you know, getting into surface mount and. And some of these things seem to be pretty, pretty sealed up. But a lot of money to be putting into these devices.
Speaker D: Yeah, that's probably why I want some advice on this. The cost, the radio I was thinking about getting putting in there is going to be. Yeah, it's another battery that I could buy and I think I'd rather have the battery than the fancy radio. But definitely the marine and the HAM would be definitely separate units. Absolutely. Looking at various marine with AIs radios. The boat has a radio, let's be clear on that. But there's no AIs on it and only has a single head. So looking at getting something better there, but for the HAM side, vhf, UHF for sure. Is it worth even trying when the ASU modes are certainly not dstar? I'm guessing not. And then hf, you know, why not try? I don't have a lot of space, so if it's going to have hf, it's going to be in the same radio as everything else. And I'm not looking at doing upgrade after upgrade. This thing is like to get something that'll last for a while, kind of the general theme for the boat is to grow into things instead of growing out of them. So anyway, conversation for tomorrow night, Back to you, Brian Ko6th
Speaker B: yeah. If the boat is rigged properly, those stays can be wonderful devices. Or even if you butterfly the stays of beds to end up with some wonderful inverted V's and other configurations, loaded verticals, etc. All right, Greg, you have a wonderful day and great advice on acupuncture. Make sure that do a count on the needles coming in and out and make sure the numbers match from real life experience.

Speaker A: Have a great day. Greg.KO6TH AI6US 7373 Brian. Everybody stay dry and we'll talk to you tomorrow.KO6TH Good morning, Simone. K6DXM a buddy of yours checked in earlier. I'm trying to remember who that was. Maybe it was 89 ca possibly. But anyway, he. He claimed to be a friend of yours. Anybody who puts daring enough to make that claim. Yeah, kudos to them. Good morning.
Speaker B: Yeah, I heard that. I was getting my coffee. His name is Mike. Goes by the nickname Hood. I know him as Hood. He's a fellow blinky blindy. We've known each other other like over 20 years. We met back in the Internet chat room days playing an accessible golf game. We used to play racing online by 20056 somewhere in there. But yeah, I know Mike. Captain America. 89 CA the Captain America. I hear him when I do podas. I hear way out in the background Captain America.
Speaker A: Fun to run on into people on different platforms and. Yeah, pretty cool. Well, you've been prolific on posting things up. I pretty much every time I jump on YouTube there's a short video from you. Looks like you. You and Jimmy have been having a ton of fun.
Speaker B: Yeah, I'm really, really lucky and blessed to have a friend like Jimmy indeed, that wants to drag me along. And I don't think he's dragging me along. I think we enjoy each other's company and it's fun. Yeah, we went and did one yesterday and did well lately, so. And I want to keep everything, you know, I want to keep my channel active. I finally got permission to stream. Now I just gotta figure out if it's gonna be something doable on my iPhone. I did a little test stream the other day and my buddy called me and goes, hey, I'm watching you right now. You're streaming, streaming live on a. Jimmy just texted me, making me laugh. So I can stream. That's the next to stream. Obviously a Starlink mini or something like that, you know, maybe in the future but for now I'd like to try it on my iPhone.
Speaker A: Very cool. Well just make sure you don't stream while you stream.
Speaker B: Yeah, obviously that could happen. So I got a devil. Take that into a consideration there, Brian. Anyway, again, I mean I talked Sunday a little bit about Ray Rip, my friend and my thoughts and condolences out with Christine and Thomas and I shared my. My self introduction to Ray. So I won't share that again. That was on Sunday with Jeff. He will be missed. I don't know if Greg's still listening but I just got done a short
Speaker A: story which was rather really cool.
Speaker B: He may or may not be interested in called the Voyage of the Frog by Gary Paulson. It's a story of when he was a 14 year old kid and took a sailboat out by himself in the Pacific to spread his uncle's ashes. The uncle that gave him the boat, that, well, gave him the boat, you know, when he passed. So it's a short read but I really enjoy it and I've been reading a lot of Gary Paulsen's little life lesson type of stories and I'm really enjoying it. So just wanted to share that with Greg. And as far as an HF rig, you know, 857 comes to mind because it has everything all in one. If you could find one of those used as far as durability, maybe an ICOM 7200 they are a little more rugged. I don't know about waterproof though.
Speaker A: Yeah, usually you know those the HF stays below deck at the station, at the pilot station and so they definitely have more protection. But yeah, definitely a lot of humidity. And yeah, I was kind of thinking about one of those radios like you described. You know those are indestructible and they've been rolling around in mobile rigs for years. I just don't know what their for salt air and that sort of thing. But yeah, it certainly would be a great thing to look into. All right, Gary Paulson short book the Voyage of the Frog so noted here and maybe Greg noted it as well. Ko68 so noted.
Speaker B: Got for you is my 590 was having issues so it's on its way to the Bay Area. I think it's some sort of coaxial connection inside. According to the guy I got it from, I would be in the middle of QSO and my receipt would completely go away and my transmit was still fine, but no more receive. Almost like somebody just disconnected the antenna completely. And I did a FaceTime with him and he said, you know in the forums there's a bunch of these little coaxial type connections or a handful of these connections inside the radio. But he's a stand up dude and Jeremiah's taking my radio out with him to school this week and he's going to exchange it for another one that he has pretty much new in the box. And the one I'm Getting is a 70th anniversary Kenwood TS590 which are. They only made 300 of them so I feel really lucky to be Getting it. And of course, that put me on a search for the matching 70th anniversary vibro cube. Vibroplex. Vibro cube. And I found one on ebay that a guy had gotten in an estate sale. So I spent money I shouldn't have spent. But I'm gonna have the 70th anniversary Kenwood matching set of paddle to go with that 70th anniversary TS590.
Speaker A: Wow, that worked out really well. Great to hear of the gentleman's honesty. And it sounds like you are ending up with a great deal there. And yeah, a nice setup to be proud of. And by the way, Greg did mention that he did copy that information down. Well, you have a wonderful day. We will look forward to your next PODA adventure. And definitely good luck on that radio. Hopefully the one that comes in serves you well.
Speaker B: Roger, Roger. Yep, I hope so too. Usually a pretty solid radio, so I'm sure whatever it is, you'll find it. And I am so happy to have my zygoo because, you know, that's what's been in line for the last week. And this morning I talked to a gentleman who I've talked to before, Sean, in Southampton, England on the Zygoo. 20 watts, 15 meters voice. So that little zygoo is a magical little radio and I'm really lucky to have it. All right, Brian, you have a great day. Thanks for taking my check in. I'm off to the dark dentist here in a little while to get my teeth cleaned and get X rays, kilo six delta, X ray. November,
Speaker A: next time we see you, I will make sure that I comment on the gleam of your beautiful clean teeth. Very cool. Yeah, 15 watts can go a long way under the right conditions. And like I was telling Larry earlier, don't be discouraged by looking at these predictive maps. Yes, right now there are no sunspots happening on the sun, but the ionosphere just doesn't die and go away. And yesterday was just stellar. Stellar conditions. And sounds like today is as well. Simone, you have a wonderful day. Thanks for checking in. In six. Excuse me. K6DXN, AI6US. Good morning. Coffee breaknet on the W60K repeater. Wow. We only have 18 minutes before the top of the hour, so let's see who else is out there. I suppose at this time we still could take a few rag chews if you want, but let me know in announcement. And this is the coffee breaknet on the W60K repeater. I'm going to do a quick promotion if you are in the greater Sacramento area. Just a reminder, we have a breakfast at Mel's Diner in Auburn, California this next Saturday morning at 7:30am Usually a really big turnout, a lot of great conversations, good food and what a great way. I know it's early in the morning, 7:30 maybe doesn't exist in your world, but I'll tell you, great time. Mel's Diner, Highway 49 in Auburn, California. 7:30am for the monthly breakfast and then afterwards at 9am in the Mel's parking lot. We are going to be meeting and doing a pre fox hunt meeting. Doesn't matter if you've never done a fox hunt before, Come on out. We have a ton of fun. Every month we do a fox hunt and this month we are going to be. Let's see. Marty Ko6gxx, President of the Nevada Nevada Amateur Radio Club. And he is going to be the fox tender this month. So join us and even if you've never done it before, you can ride along with one of us who do a lot of fox hunting and just bring an HT along. You don't even need to have a license. So maybe bring that grandkid along or the neighbor who might be interested in finding a hidden radio transmitter. We have a lot of fun. That's this next Saturday, 9am Mel's parking lot on Highway 49, the original Mel's Diner. After the breakfast and let's see, let's go ahead and see who's out there. Gonna take either quick in and outs or a little more rag chew. Let me know what you want when you check in, please. I'm Brian AI6US and this is the copy Breaknet
Speaker C: N2DYI. Quick in and out.
Speaker D: Whiskey Uniform 6 Hotel in and out.
Speaker A: Kilo Oscar 6, Charlie Uniform Bravo. Quick in and out. All right, Dan, Ken6wq and George, I think that was you. I all I copied was. I think it might be Charlie Uniform Bravo. But all I caught was Uniform Bravo.
Speaker C: Full call.
Speaker A: Yes, it's George. Kilo Oscar Six, Charlie Uniform Bravo. Quick in and out. All right, George. Thought it sounded like your voice. Got enough of a call sign to put two and two together for in and out. Thank you. Wu6h. Good morning Ryan for a quick in and out. And good morning Marvin. 7 MSM for in n out. And good morning to Patrick into dyi. Patrick, were you in and out?
Speaker C: I was
Speaker A: and you are. Okay. Did I miss anyone?
Speaker B: I tried to come in an all star.
Speaker A: This is Jimmy, November 6th, Fox Mike Delta.
Speaker B: We'll try RF
Speaker A: W8. It's FMD Good morning, Jimmy. And will you be in and out?
Speaker B: Yeah, I'll be a quick in and out.
Speaker A: All right, anybody else that I missed on this list? WA6E Bobio. All right, Jerry, WA6E got you on the bottom of the list there. All right, just a reminder, these are quick in and outs. Just a few minutes please, and let's check in with Patrick first into dyi.
Speaker C: Hey, good morning Brian and everyone on the net. Hope everyone's day is doing reasonably well, all things considered. Mine is okay. It started out kind of interestingly though.
Speaker A: I'm using tailscale, which is a VPN
Speaker C: service, to hold some of my infrastructure together and to access some of my resources back home. And a lot of the stuff I installed six months ago, turns out there is a 180 day expiration date on
Speaker A: all the devices keys by default.
Speaker C: So a whole bunch of stuff broke because I installed lots of stuff on the same day and so I had to kind of scramble around and fix that. So that was fun.
Speaker A: Okay. Yeah, I was wondering what happened. I saw your node pop up here and it held a carrier earlier on this morning and I was about to kick you to the curb and you did it yourself,
Speaker C: which is really interesting because I was in monitor mode.
Speaker A: Don't know. Oh, well, yeah. One of those mysteries of life. Well, good morning. So did you get everything? I mean, was it just RE upping or do you have to go back and reinstall keys on all these devices?
Speaker C: It's mostly just RE authentication. You just type a command on a thing or click a thing if it's a Windows or a Mac gui. I was using mostly Linux stuff, so it was just a matter of logging in again the keys that did expire and then making the ones that were about to expire, not expire.
Speaker A: Well, hopefully you were successful with that in Denver. Well, good morning to you or good after morning to you. And anything else for the net this morning? And has New York survived?
Speaker C: Well, they didn't have power for most of yesterday. I get alerts every time the power goes on and off by virtue of the ubiquity access points that I have over there. And I saw it bounce up and down lots quite a bit in the early hours of the morning yesterday. Then it went off offline sometime around 11 in the morning and stayed that
Speaker A: way for most of the day up
Speaker C: until I think about six or so at night. So yeah, I'm sure they had a whole bunch of fun. The vertical antenna. Vhf, UHF vertical antenna is still standing. I can still get to the repeaters and stuff so that survived the wind. That's cool and yeah about 18 inches of snow on the ground.
Speaker A: Vertical antenna will I guess once they report back to you how many degrees out of vertical it may be but good to hear that it's still transmitting. Well, good after morning to you Patrick. Thanks for checking in this morning and yeah you know before I let you go any ten thousand foot, hundred thousand foot on the all notes net last night
Speaker C: that was a good net. A couple of things came up have never actually been discussed before. One of those was the sort of proper use of emphasis curves pre emphasis and de emphasis on nodes that actually that is a question that came up from more than one person which was sort of interesting. We had discussions on clear node which Tom fielded a lot of because I'm not a clear node guy. We had there is a clear node update by the way he informed us about that and let's see there were a couple of digital mode questions. Yeah, it was a pretty good net last night.
Speaker A: Well I want to thank you and Tom for keeping that net going and not just going but just good activity and good information, good knowledge base for anyone interested in nodes. Thank you Patrick.
Speaker C: Well I am personally always glad to do it. I don't, I don't always just give out knowledge. I end up learning stuff too on the net. So anyway Brian, have a great one and I'll say 73 for now. Catch you tomorrow. I've just forgotten call sign.
Speaker A: That's not good.
Speaker C: I need sleep. Seven three and two dyi.
Speaker A: Go to sleep Patrick. Go to sleep. Into DYI AI six us hey, good morning Marv. N7msm Mr. Miyaji, are you there? All right, we will put Marv in the log close enough to 10:00. And how about Ryan Wu? 6h Good morning.
Speaker D: Good morning Brian Chilling in Redding
Speaker A: had.
Speaker D: Had that. Had the. You know I'm a bit of a road warrior. I started the day yesterday, you know
Speaker A: going
Speaker D: through Reno up back into Susanville. Thought I would make it to Eureka and it was hailing like crazy so I said do you know know what? Let's just chill in reading.
Speaker B: Wow, what a roundabout.
Speaker A: Yeah, I thought you were going to be doing some business over on the other side of the Sierra mountains and I expected you to be checking in from Susanville this morning. And I don't know it's funny that the. Everything that comes to mind whenever I've taken that the east side of the Sierras up into Oregon is the high death toll of rabbits on that road. I imagine it's not the right time of year for that, but.

Speaker B: Oh, no, there's. There's a lot of roadkill. I mean, if. If you're hungry and if you're desperate enough, there's. There's a lot of meat on the road. I saw it myself.
Speaker A: I saw it.
Speaker C: I saw.
Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, that's a wabbit. Wascally wabbit wrapped around my wabbitaya. Ryan, what are you gonna be doing?
Speaker C: Well, no.
Speaker A: Ready? Just stop. So where is the in spot for today?
Speaker B: The end spot is home, thankfully.

Speaker B: Just a curlicue to eureka and then 101 back home. So anyway, quick in and out, that's all I got. Wu6h,
Speaker A: thanks for checking in, Ryan, and drive safely and we'll catch you up with you later on the day, I'm sure. Wu6h, Ai6us Coffee Breaknet and good morning to George. K06 Cub. I heard you guys had a fun snow adventure.

Speaker A: Good morning, Brian. Thank you for being there. I was just sitting here drinking my coffee. I'm on the radio earlier than I've been for a while. Been mostly doing four later in the day. So I thought I'd call in and say thank you. And
Speaker D: that's about it. Quick in and out, 73 to the next.
Speaker A: All right, George, well, good morning to you and thanks for. Thanks for coming to these upper bands and saying good morning. Yeah, in the mornings I'll spend a lot of time on 160, 80 and a little bit on 40. And those were fun bands. Interesting proposition on them. You have a wonderful day. K06 Cub, AI6US. And let's check in with Dan K N6WQ.
Speaker C: Good morning, Brian and net, this is KN6WQ. I've been caught in Patrick's situation once or twice with my VPN stuff. Before I had my domain name and set up with Cloudflare, I used to have to open up, you know, like VPN server state. I use OpenVPN, I think login, and then I can access my, you know, like all my placing service and stuff like that that I need to. That I have running locally at home. So, yeah, then I brought it over to the other thing and one day I'm like, oh, well, the. You know, something's wrong with Cloudflare. It was down, so I couldn't access it that way. So then I tried to log into OpenVPN. Sure enough, my keys expired. Happens every year, so I know. And I'm using OpenVPN through pfsense so I'm thinking about changing to tailscale or a couple other ones that tend to be a lot better. A little bit faster too. So there's that. Anyway, same old, same old. Over here we still have no heat. I don't know. I got another text in as a company. Still no response. I'd have to probably call again and it's starting to get ridiculous at this point. So I'm not. But yeah, just another day in the workplace. It's supposed to be raining today, but thank God I have a plan for a few garage jobs today. So we'll see how it goes. This is game 670 cube.
Speaker A: Well, on the Sage Vac split system I believe what you you got the equipment did a self install, but the factory is working with you on these problems.
Speaker C: Is that.
Speaker A: Am I understanding that right or did you have an H VAC company do the final on it?
Speaker C: Yep, basically yes. So, you know, I ran all the line sets. I installed all the, you know, the units inside the ceilings, cut all the sheetrock and did all the dirty work. And then I had the company come out and help me hook the line sets up and make sure that they weren't leaking. And then we did all the micron level evacuations on them and we let the Freon go out of the unit. After we got made sure everything was good and no leaks, we come to find out that we didn't have enough Freons so I had to buy more. That was like 300 some dollars for the R32. So then that came. Then we put that in and it's still having issues and problems. So I. So I mean the company all knows about this and I just don't understand what the issue was. So we thought it was a main control board because it seems that it doesn't trip out of anything. When it's like 73 and lower, it's fine. It doesn't trip out. But I think that's just because it's not trying to ramp up and trying to do some pressurizing stuff. Because if it's 73 and higher, it'll trip out. Trip out meaning it, it'll go high. What does it say? High pressure on H1 compressor? High pressure, Whatever it says so that it sets it off to protect the compressor.
Speaker A: All right, last question before I let you go. Who is standing behind the install? Is anybody in your corner or you're trying to work with a manufacturer in a separate company who maybe they're not taking ownership. What's, what's going on.
Speaker C: So this system is designed to be air quote, DIY installed. Right. You should be able to just, you know, pay electrician to bring over the power. You know, you can install the units and everything yourself and then, you know, have a license, like easy guy come in and install the Freon, because he's dealing with Freon, so he has to have a license for the EPA, right, so he can deal with the R32, whatever. I had all that. So I don't know why the company is saying that they've never seen this before and they don't know what to do, meaning the manufacturer, because the company I bought it from are like, hey, you know what? We sold you the unit. If it doesn't work, it's not on us all. So that's what. And that's who we've been dealing with. But they don't know which way to send it. They don't know what this problem is and we don't know how to undo it. So I'm not quite sure what that.
Speaker A: Oh, man, terrible catch 22 that you're stuck in there and wish you well. And, you know, do keep us updated on it. It has to be frustrating, you know, going through the winter months without. Without the heat and entering into the summer months soon not knowing how this is going to work out. All right, Dan, good morning to you, Good morning to your family, and do have a good day, and thanks for checking in. Always a pleasure. KN6WQU AI6US coffee break.
Speaker C: Thanks, Brian. And you know, the weird part is the AZ works just fine.
Speaker A: So when we have it in AC
Speaker C: mode, nothing trips out. So this has something to do with this heat sink,
Speaker A: But of course, it's winter. Oh, man. Okay, good luck on that. Keep us updated. Good morning, Jimmy. N6FMD.
Speaker D: Good morning, Brian and the net. Well, I actually got a bail, so
Speaker E: I'll be really quick in and out.
Speaker D: I just wanted to say thank you for going over and checking on Ray for all that unfolding.
Speaker E: I'm glad that the.
Speaker D: I'm glad that you guys are looking out for him. So with that, I'll say 73. I gotta run back out and hook up a trailer.
Speaker A: All right, Jimmy? Yeah, absolutely. We, you know, we have a great group of people here. And, you know, the great thing is that we do watch out for each other and we're friends, and that goes a heck of a long way. It sounds like you and Simone are having a heck of a fun time with all your activations. I keep seeing posts of your latest activation that's pretty darn cool what you guys got going on there. N6FMD AI6US73. Good morning, jerry. Waa6e
Speaker D: morning, brian. We're running you into overtime. This is wa6e just arrived home, so
Speaker A: I'll make it quick.
Speaker D: I have one piece of advice for thomas and that is 1-800-got-junk.
Speaker A: Yeah, there's just a certain thing. Yeah, there is something about that. Just to sort through the valuables and especially living across the country. But not a bad, not bad advice there. But you know, Ray, you know, after that house fire up in Oregon, moved down here and then just I think he moved up into this place what about maybe five years ago. He has accumulated some stuff, but I don't think it's going to be overwhelming. But certainly they have a lot of sorting to do.
Speaker D: Yeah, I've had to do that.
Speaker A: And a lot of the stuff that
Speaker D: you and I think has value, has emotional value, but intrinsic value is worth nothing. So it's tough to go through it and I don't envy them that, but they'll do it fine. So we'll plan on doing the Thursday night thing once we can figure out the time. Meanwhile, thanks for running the net. Go get your breakfast.
Speaker A: WA60 well, Smitty came on a bit ago and Smitty indicated that it is going to be happening this Thursday 5pm at Burgers and Brew in Auburn and need to get the address for that place but I know it's there on 49. So Thursday, 5pm burgers and brew. Christina and Thomas. I'm not sure if Steve is going to be there but we definitely will be there to support them and to reminisce about Ray. So it's going to be a fun evening of celebration. Okay, Jerry, well, good morning to you. Thanks for checking in this morning and thank you for everything you and Theta do for the club and we certainly appreciate you
Speaker E: comment.
Speaker D: Appreciate you too. Burgers and Brew.
Speaker A: Is that the one at 49 in full wireless? It's near there. It is near there. We had a comment.
Speaker C: Go ahead.
Speaker E: Hey, this is Thomas. Km6mjb. Yeah, the address is 13470 Lincoln Way. 13470 Lincoln Way. Stephen is probably like most definitely going to be there. I did want to throw out something real quick. I have found a ton of pantry food that we want to donate to the church, the food bank that we've been donating to. The only problem is I don't have time to get it there. So if there's somebody out there who wouldn't mind coming and grabbing it to deliver it? I would love you forever and ever. And Jerry, what you said, that is 100% what I'm doing. Just sorting through everything of keep and get rid of. And I'm 99 sure. We're just after we get all the stuff that we want out, it's going
Speaker A: to be a free for all for
Speaker E: the got junk people. Comment.
Speaker A: Go ahead, comment.
Speaker D: Yep, this is Kilo Golf 9. Mike Thomas. I can assist with that.
Speaker A: I live here in Auburn, not too far far away. So I can. I can coordinate when you want that picked up and taken over to the church for the Auburn interfaith food Closet.
Speaker C: Awesome.
Speaker E: I'm here now until probably about noon. And we won't be here tomorrow, but yeah, we'll figure something out.
Speaker A: I appreciate it. Thank you.
Speaker D: Yeah.
Speaker E: So I am frank if you need
Speaker A: a hand, I can. I can help you out as well
Speaker C: at noon.
Speaker A: So today that timeline does not work for me, but I will. I'll get your number or Christina's number and work on it. Hopefully another time. That works. Okay, very good. And Bob, N6EMS came in there. So yeah, let's go ahead. And right after the net, if we can hang around guys for a little bit, we will coordinate something here. By the way, I just wanted to point out the address you gave me is coming up for Brewster's Burgers. So I just wanted to make sure where we were going to be meeting. Yeah, I think they changed the name
Speaker E: of it or something.
Speaker C: I don't know.
Speaker E: Isn't that's the burger place that we had done a couple of nights before? The ve sections, correct?
Speaker A: Yeah, that's Brewstersburger. Brewstersberger is where we've met several times before. Burgers and Brew. I'm gonna have to look that one up myself. But yeah, let's get clarification on that and then we'll put the information out. But yeah, 13470 is Brewster's burger.
Speaker E: Well, then I probably was mistaken on the name. But yeah, the Brewster's Burger, that address, that's the place that we were. We had in our brain when we were talking about it. The one that's connected to that pizza shop also.
Speaker A: That way if you don't like burgers,
Speaker E: you can grab a pizza or something. But that is the location. And I'm 99% sure that is what Smitty put on or is putting on the Facebook thing when him and I talked earlier. So my bad. I called it the wrong thing. Cane fix MJP
Speaker A: no, that's what he called it as well. So, yeah, we better follow up with Smitty. All right. Hey, very good.
Speaker E: Let's see.
Speaker A: Let's hang around after the net is over, and then we'll come up with a solution to get those foods over to the food pantry. Absolutely. We'd be more than happy to help you on that. All right, Jerry, anything else for the net? All right, I think Jerry went inside. Okay with that. I'm just going to go ahead and close up the net for this morning. Today is Tuesday and it is has been February 24th so far up to this time. We will be back again tomorrow morning for another round of the Coffee Breaknet. But before we do that, for the log only, check ins. Come now. Ki6lop, Foxtrot, Papa, Twin Falls, AI6, Stacey, N6wyz, Ax, Sacramento, Kilo, ox, bravo, quebec, sierra, yankee, k6bsy, Ai6lz. All right, I'm going to start cleaning up this mess right now. Okay. I got a elz, Is that you, Herbert? Full call, please.
Speaker C: Knot 06 echo, lima, zulu. All right.
Speaker A: Ko 6 elz. Good morning, herbert. You are in the log. Good morning, bird. Ai6lz, you are in the log as well. Good morning to ed. Kb6 ed, you are in the log. And good morning to frank. Speaker E: Going with eggs, cheese and toast.
Speaker A: How are those eggs prepared?
Speaker C: Steamed eggs. Okay.
Speaker A: Okay. Over easy. Soaking into the toast. Okay, I can go with that. Have a great day. Ken and Ki6lop. Good morning, Russell. Who did I miss?
Speaker C: H 6kilo, oscar, six echo, bravo, quebec.
Speaker A: Ko6hkt,
Speaker E: Ko delta 6 hotel outstream number ko6lmz.

I know there was one or two others in there that I might have missed.
Speaker B: K26Vix,
Speaker A: Alpha, juliet, six oscar, romeo. All right, good morning, evan, aj6or. And good morning to max, kg6pi. Did I get that right? Kg6pix. Something doesn't sound right there, max.
Speaker B: Yeah, you got that right. I switched back to my out call
Speaker A: sign a while back.
Speaker B: So you did get that right. I feel like a new person and an old person at the same time. Fixing it back. KG6P I N73 Brian.
Speaker A: Max, you're just keeping my gray matter sharp there.
Speaker C: Got it.
Speaker A: I knew something didn't sound right, but yes, you did. Go back to your old call. Thank you very much for checking in this morning. All right, this will be last call for the log for the Coffee Breaknet. And with that, we'll just go ahead and close things up for today and we'll be back again tomorrow. The Coffee Break Net, where the sun is always shining, the birds are singing and the fish are jumping. This net sponsored by the Sierra Foothills Amateur Radio Club. And I'm Brian AI6us and I'll be your net control host, conversation facilitator again tomorrow. But everyone have a wonderful day ahead. Always a pleasure to have some great conversations with you in the mornings and I really appreciate everyone being part of a wonderful community. With that, I'll catch everybody again tomorrow. This is Brian AI6 us returning the W6ek repeater back to normal usage, whatever that may be. 7.3, everyone.
Speaker D: Sorry, Brian, I might have been chewing on the mic a little bit.
Speaker A: Chewing or swallowed it? Yeah, that was super distorted. I could barely. I All I heard was hon. All right, good morning to you. Hey, Thomas, km6mjb, are you still there?
Speaker D: Yes, sir.
Speaker A: All right, let's just see. Okay, so Frank is not going to be available before noon. Ems, I heard you jump in there. Would you be available to help with the food items to take over to the food bank?
Speaker C: Yeah, I think so. My question, do you have anything to put it in containers wise or are we just gonna. I can bring the Suburban over and we can just hump it into the back. But what do you Got.
Speaker D: Hey, yeah, I've got them mostly in bags and boxes that I found, so it's all carryable. No loose. No loose cans. I'm not going to send some hundred loose soup cans. That would be disastrous and comical at the same time. But no. Yeah, they're all in bags and boxes.
Speaker C: Perfect. So we don't have to assemble the hundred man stores. Working party and home. Follow those individually. That would. That's a good thing. So. Yeah. Well, when are you ready? I'm just right down the road and I could probably take care of that for you.
Speaker D: Well, I am probably about 10 minutes away from having one of his pantries cleaned out. I don't know if I'm going to get to the rest of it today. We've got some appointments and stuff set up for later, so I'm only working here till noon, so. For a first load, yeah, in 10, 15 minutes, I'll have most of it ready to go.
Speaker A: All right,
Speaker C: give me a few. I've crawled under the house, so I probably want to take a shower first and get the dirt and stuff off, and then I'll just bust up bourbon and head down there.
Speaker A: Awesome.
Speaker D: Sounds good. If you want. If you're ready, I can give you my phone number and you can just shoot me a text or give me a call when you're on your way.
Speaker C: All right, sir.
Speaker B: Shoot.
Speaker D: All right, Phone number is 311-028-39495.
Speaker C: Copied. And all right. Yeah, give me a few minutes to get things set up this end and I'll shoot you a text when I'm heading that way.
Speaker A: Awesome.
Speaker D: Thank you. Thank you so much.
Speaker C: Not a problem. And Brian, thanks for pulling things together. N6EMS.
Speaker A: Well, thank you, Bob, too. And do you want to reach out to Jim Jupen to make contact with the food bank, or do you want me to do that for you? Yeah, you can.
Speaker C: I've got his number as well, but I don't know what he's up to today, but either way, that or I could just pop by the office and talk to him there and put it over in the. In the gym by the. By the food pantry.
Speaker A: Okay. Well, yeah, you know the setup over there at that location, so, yeah, I'll just let you make that arrangement then. But if you need any help or anything, give a holler, and I'm glad to make some phone calls or assist if you need it.
Speaker C: I think I'll let you go take care of your bladder and breakfast and stuff like that. And I've got all those numbers I can, I can rattle Jim's chain and see what's what he thinks, but I can probably take care of the rest from this end.
Speaker A: All right, well, thank you so much, Bob. Bob Doas N6EMS hey, just wanted to check Thomas. Do you guys need a pickup bed to take anything over to Goodwill or are you just gonna have stop by or what. What else are you needing in the next couple of days?
Speaker D: Yeah, as of right now, we're not 100% sure. We do have a bunch of trash bags full of junk to go out. Stephen's leaning pretty hard on just doing One of those one, 800, got junk people to have them come in and do it. If I had my truck, I'd probably make a dump run with most of it. But I don't, I don't think we're quite at the need of trying to schedule something like that out quite yet. But I appreciate it a lot. We're, we're slowly getting through all the stuff and just kind of separating out what's, you know, worth keeping what we want, what we want to donate. It's. Well, you. It's taken a while. Although you can now walk freely through the dining room into half of the living room and actually see carpet.
Speaker A: Now let's see. We installed his antenna. Boy, I think I did that maybe two months ago, maybe three months ago. And he had a pretty, you know, he had a pretty, pretty clear path in there. He was very apologetic for how it looked. And I said, boy, you know, I've gotten into people's houses to install stuff before and I didn't even want to touch anything in the house. I said this is nothing. And, but no. So yeah, it can't be that bad. Anyway, I don't know what you have for ladders and that sort of thing. If you do want to take down the antenna or if you're just going to leave it up there, just let me know. I'd be more than happy to come down there and do a de install for you as well.
Speaker D: Oh yeah, awesome. We probably will want to take it down, Steven. I know I've said it a couple times. Steven is now determined to get his license back and he wants to keep this 2 meter 440 rig and some of the stuff so that he can try to set it up in his place. You know, something about dad's radio I understand 100%. So yeah, that would be pretty awesome. A lot of the other radio stuff we are kind of putting together and I think the general consensus is to Donate it to the club after it's been looked at. Sentimental stuff has been grabbed, but, yeah, we're trying to organize some of that to make it a little easier.
Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. Okay. No, I was. I don't know if Steve has the resources to take that antenna down or whatever. You know, it's just basically 18 steps or so. Folding ladder makes it up there just fine. So let me know if it gets to the point where he needs some assistance getting that antenna down or clipping the coax and drawing it through. I know Ray had just bought that coax a few months ago, so you just let me know.
Speaker B: Okay, awesome.
Speaker D: Thank you. Yeah, we will definitely keep in touch.
Speaker A: All right. And, yeah, let's figure out where we're going to be meeting here. I was trying to find a Burgers and Brew, and I'm not finding one, so it must be Brewsters. Anyway, do you want to reach out to Smitty and just clarify that?
Speaker D: Yeah, we've already texted and he came up with a picture and put the Brewster's Burgers on there.
Speaker C: So it was.
Speaker D: I. I think what started is. I remember in my head it's Burgers and Brew. But, yeah, it was Brewster's Burgers, and I sent that to him when she copied it. But, yeah, all the stuff is going to come out with Brewster's Burger and that correct address up here, because the only Burgers and Brew that I could find also when I went back to look is in downtown Sacramento. And I want to stay away from there as much as I can.
Speaker A: No problem. Okay, great. We'll look forward to seeing you on. On Thursday. Absolutely. Won't miss it for the world. Okay, good luck, you guys. Give a holler if you need anything. Okay,
Speaker D: will do. Thank you so much. This is K6MJB listening and
Speaker A: AI6US.
Speaker B: Claire.

Over here. They made it more difficult. They made it more difficult to return Amazon stuff than it used to be. I used to be able to just go in there with my phone, the screenshot of the tag, and they could scan it and print out the little tag and put it on the parcel and it'd be out of here. That was simple and easy. And what they made me do is I had to go back, and I actually had to go someplace at the printer, print something out and then attach it. Then I could go back. Speaker A: Hey, larry, how you doing? N6kn here,
Speaker B: Doing just fine in there again. How are you doing? Now what's been going on in your world?
Speaker C: I've been kind of bored all day. Decided to go in and change all my root and admin passwords just for the fun of it. They were a little complex only because of some of the things that happened with Chris up there on pra. Besides that, all that installed all good. How you, how you doing with the weather up there?
Speaker B: So what does a guy do when he gets bored? He changes his password.
Speaker C: Yeah, well, you know, I've got that automatic password thing with steel. I don't know, my password was just too complex. It's a whole bunch easier now, especially if I sign on with my cell phone. Yeah, wife, she's in there making some kind of a pork dinner, listening to some salsa music and I'm just in here watching a video and, and doing some self educating,
Speaker B: I guess. Good. I got a couple more things. What I know is read that email for civil procedure on migrating my player node to ESL 3.0. All I need help with earlier formatting. My best requires downloading that file there. Oh, I'm the CEO and my page zero, my SOS thing is still shutting down. Are you able to go into logs and CYA mode and shut down?
Speaker C: So that's on the eight. Zero? Yeah, I mean we should take a look at that. All right, yeah, give me a minute. I'm gonna, I'm gonna. I'm gonna disconnect myself from here and connect up to your 84 and I'll go in and look at the supermarket, see what I can find.
Speaker A: Yeah, I'm good.
Speaker C: All right, give me a minute.
Speaker B: N60.

All right, sounds good, Jeff. I take her easy out there. And it's going to be a warm week this week. I was looking at the forecast 80 degrees all weekend climbing, but right now it's showing to be around 90 lower 90s for Friday. So we'll see how that goes as we get closer to it. Okay, take care, Jeff. Catch you later. KN6 HTC, back to monitoring.

Hey, Dennis. Yeah, I'm just working from home today. Got the HT here on my desk and taking notes down on this HF stuff. And I wrote down for my notes, no sunspots means no activity. So. Yeah, it's good to know. Always learn something new. And thanks for throwing that out there for other people to that.
