This is kilo juliet 7 echo tango xk87tx. Can somebody give me a radio check please? You sound great. Good audio and good signal. N6K and E. Hey, thanks for that. Once Again, this is KT70TX. Could you request an early check in for me? I guess I'm not connected to what I thought I was connected to. What? What check in are you looking for? Okay, yeah, starting in about eight minutes they'll be at Washington County Aries meeting their regular net and so I'll hang out and see somebody's on frequency there's going to be joining them. Okay, yeah, I must not be connected to what I thought I was connected to. Okay, well maybe it's me. Hey, thanks anyway. Okay, thanks for radio check. Yeah, you're welcome. N6k in here, Los Angeles link up. Okay, I am connected to where I thought I was connected to. That must be a Las Vegas net. Hello, Ken, I was going to confirm that for you, but you figured it out. WB6JKV, just in the background. System 19 link up. Yeah, well, some funny things happened. I forgot I put my laptop in airplane mode so it wasn't showing me keying up on any of the carless stuff. It wasn't showing me keying up anywhere, so I didn't, I didn't know where I was connected to. I finally figured out I needed to push my, my airplane mode button and voila, here I am. How are you doing? Recovering. I just ended up having to change my tire and got a low pressure alert as I was getting on 101 in San Jose and I didn't pay any attention. I figured my sensor is going south on me and I had to replace one already. But long story short, by the time I got up the road a ways it was down to like £1918 and I could feel it was handling a little funny in the ass end, so. So sure enough, right rear man had a big old fat screw in it and I could actually hear the air hissing. So anyway, yep, got off freeway, changed my tire and I'm headed home. I would have to say the weirdest thing I ever saw poking a hole into a tire was a, believe it or not, a 10 millimeter wrench, not a socket, a wrench poked a hole in this tire and was just barely sticking out through the tread, making a clicking noise every time one around a corner or anyways. Yep, went to the tire shop and sure enough, some poor son of a mother lost his 10 millimeter wrench into my tire. Let me guess, it was in your rear tire, right? I mean, you hit it with the. Right. Flipped it up and then the next inevitable thing happened. Grabbed it with the rear tire and there you go. Well, luckily it was the. Yeah, it was. It was the rear tire and. Yeah. Yeah, I knew I hit something and I heard the clicking and the kicking and the. Yeah, I was able to get off the freeway and voila. There was a. An old pep boy service center and. Yeah, so they were able to actually fix it for me. Plugged it and patched it. I was swinging my 76 station. It's just down the hill from my house and gonna go drop it off and see if they can do their magic. You know what this thing looks like? A 10 millimeter bolt. You know, the kind they use on air conditioning ducting up on the roof. You know, a big old, you know, like a flat, like a washer, you know, built in. And a big rubber, I guess gasket or rubber seal or something. But. Yep, sticking right out of the tire. Man, it's funny, it looks beef. Got AC people replacing some air conditioning at work, so. Yeah, I guess some of the folks got away during the disassembly and deconstruct progress. Anyways. All right, drop it in the Pacific over to 32 WD60 mobile. All right, good to hear you. You. You be safe. Good luck on all that. Was on a local. Maybe it'll work better this way. I can switch over to 32. Catch you later. And system 32 link box.

They ended up putting me up in Dobbins most of the day today and as I was on my way home to go, you know, do the net and everything, they called me out to work a special event out here at the fairgrounds.
Speaker A: So.

Speaker A: I was like, well, I guess I'm not going home,
Speaker B: man.
Speaker C: I guess you better pack some snacks when you head out in the morning, huh? Yeah. Boy, that is something. But yeah, I'm glad I could jump in. I was going to be home right here anyway, so. No problem.
Speaker A: Yes sir. Yes, sir. Yeah, I've got a box of Nutrigrain bars with me and those quick tuna snacks, which is the Ritz crackers with the tuna salad stuff. So I've got some, some nourishment or somewhat nourishment with me.
Speaker C: Oh, those are pretty good snacks. I, I picked up some of those at Sam's club and yeah, I put one in the truck just. Just in case.
Speaker A: That much but. But no. So I really appreciate you taking the net so save because I've been running rampant and then I got sick. I guess there's, you know, some sort of bug going around and it's like. Yeah, it's been nuts. I've been doing a lot of posts up there in Dobbins up at the Colgate Pen stop.
Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, that sounds like it's keeping a lot of people busy and there might have been a double out there. Any, anyone else? W16H K06BGY I was just going to comment. Maybe, maybe you guys can keep some MREs in the car. I usually do that as well, but I seem to have depleted that resource at the moment. I kind of got hungry the other day. Oh yeah, always a good idea. I've had some pretty good meals in brown plastic bags.
Speaker A: Yeah, I actually had about two of them in my truck last week and I went through those already, so I got to buy another case.
Speaker C: All right, you guys, well, good talking to you. I'm going to finish up this, the documentation here and get busy on maybe a little HF or something. But have a good night. LC73 for now. W6P and H and you got beautiful skies outside right now and you can see all the stars. So I'm going to stay out here and take a look at that K06BGY. I'll be clear 73.
Speaker A: There you go. Yeah, enjoy the star washing while you can. It's too bright for me here where I'm at, so have fun with that. And yeah, have some fun out there on HF as well, Paul. So I'll catch up with you guys later on. And six PNY, I will be monitoring for the next four hours and 600 miles.
Speaker B: Hey neil, where do you get the mres?
Speaker A: I usually order them all from Amazon. You could Order the cases. You could order a full case for just shy of 200 bucks per case.
Speaker B: Awesome. Thank you. My wife was like, ask him where he got some. I'd like some. And I was like, he probably gets them off the Amazon.
Speaker A: Yes, sir. Yeah, they're about, you know, just shy 200 bucks for a case. And you can get case A and case B. So they got both cases that. That it supplies to the military. So, yep, Amazon's where to go.
Speaker B: Okay, thank you. I don't know if I could spend that much money all at once. I mean, I'd be thinking how many bullets I could buy.
Speaker A: Yeah, that's a toss up right there. Buy MREs or buy some ammo. Let's see here.
Speaker B: Which fairgrounds are you at?
Speaker A: I'm over here at Yuba Sutter Fairgrounds on Franklin.
Speaker B: Is that the boat show?
Speaker A: No, we actually got a. An Indian wedding tonight.
Speaker B: Oh, okay.
Speaker A: Yes, sir. Because I've been sick. I got three guards inside working the actual event, and I'm out patrolling the parking lot making sure nobody's breaking into cars.
Speaker B: Ah, okay. Yeah, that sounds like a good plan. So you don't infect anyone.
Speaker A: Exactly. So. But it's been relatively quiet so far, and I know I just said the cue word, so I just. Trying to jinx myself there.
Speaker B: All right, very good. I just wanted to say hi.
Speaker A: How. Much appreciated. Yeah, one of these days I gotta get with you and see what we can do about getting coaxes run. My reason when I mentioned dropping the headliners. The only reason why I mention that is because this thing has got side curtain airbags all over the place.
Speaker B: Yeah, we can work around them. The guys at the shop have showed me how to do it. You snake. You can snake the cable through with like a super long zip tie or like an old antenna. And you snake the antenna, the cable through where you want it, and then you can run it up behind the airbag so it doesn't get in the way. You don't have to pull the roof all the way down.
Speaker A: Oh, good deal. Yeah, I was kind of wondering about that because I also got a. I got my rear camera for my dash camera that I got to get mounted up. And then once I get the proper L brackets for my traffic divider for my back window, I gotta mount that. Well, as. As well W E6A X N receiver.
Speaker B: Oh, nice. Yeah, I gotta talk to. I'll talk to one of the managers and see what my price is on the couple of antenna and coax mounts because we got a whole Box of them upstairs. And I just got some more blinking lights installed on my pickup. So I'm super excited.
Speaker A: Oh, good deal. Yeah, I've.
Speaker B: So I've got.
Speaker A: I've already got. Well you already saw I got all the NMOS mounted and stuff. I just got to pull the coaxes and then terminate. I did find. I do have BNC and I've got a couple of the uh. Or no, I think I've got one mini uh. And I might actually have regular UHF connectors as well. I gotta find those.
Speaker B: Oh, okay. I thought you needed the whole, the whole schmear. It sounds like you're like halfway done already. That's awesome.
Speaker A: Yes sir. Yeah, all we gotta do is pull the cable, get them terminated and go from there.
Speaker B: Yeah, I was super annoyed. I was doing a putting up a base antenna and I ordered some crimp connectors off Amazon and they're only half crimp connectors. You have to solder the center pin still. And I'm like I'm on a ladder in my backyard. I don't want to be soldering this. I have the crimp tool from work. I just need the right connector,
Speaker A: right? Oh, that's what I gotta check. I gotta check to see if mine are center pin solder or not. I know. I think my BNC is for sure. But I'll have to check all my other connectors.
Speaker B: That's not a big deal. I can grab some. Those are only a couple bucks. So unfortunately this weekend I'm double booked already on couple of things so we'll figure it out.
Speaker A: Yes sir. Well, we got some time before bike around the beach so I'm not stressing it too much.
Speaker B: Yeah, that's why I wanted to get started on it now, start talking about it so we could hopefully have it done before then.
Speaker A: Yes sir. Yes sir. Yeah. Yeah. You know, if you get a weekend that looks like it's going to be pretty much free it up, let me know. That way I could make sure I get the time off because pretty much I've been working every day but Thursdays lately. Except for this week. I actually got tomorrow off but. But I usually work Saturday Sundays, but I can request time off if I need to.
Speaker B: Oh, okay. Well we could do after work one day too if it's. If it's easier for you. I get off at 3:30 normally. So with the sun setting later in the day is actually some usable time.
Speaker A: Awesome. Sounds good sir. Yeah, well, we'll have to get together and you know, on the phone or whatnot and figure out what would work best for us.
Speaker B: Okay, sounds good. I've got a short video of my new blinking lights. I'll send it to you. I also got my air horn working, so I'm super excited. I had a siren, but Erin made me remove the button. She said I was using it too much and was going to get myself in trouble.
Speaker A: I could see that happening, but. Yeah, I just can't wait until I'm trying to find a western push bumper for my truck. And I'm going to be putting a speaker box up there. That way I could do. Once I get the proper control panel, I could start running the air horn on it and a pa.
Speaker B: Very nice, Very nice. I can ask around and see if anybody's got one off a pull off. I don't think those are vehicle specific
Speaker A: new, sir. No, I've got a. I've got a wheel in centcom sapphire brain. So I just need the control panel. Let's go for that.
Speaker B: Oh, I think that's what I have. They're. They're not really used. We don't use them anymore. They're too old. So they said I could have it. There is input wires on that thing, I believe. So if you only want to run. I think there's. Or if you only want to run four or less functions with it, you can do it with just regular switches.
Speaker A: Oh, okay. I'm going have to poke your brain a little bit more on that, Don.
Speaker B: Yeah, that's what I'm doing. I just ran. Well, right now I'm only running one function, but I had one of the installers just reprogram it and with one of the input wires. And so I just ran it to a switch and I just hit the momentary switch and it does the air horn.
Speaker A: All right. On. Good deal. Yeah. Because all I'm going to do is, you know, pretty much all the. Because my lights are all speed tech lights that I'm running right now. You know, my overhead and my traffic divider, which eventually I'd like to get those swapped out with something better, but that's all I could afford for right now. And I'm running all those off from the SpeedTech light control board. So all I, you know, need is something pretty simple.
Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. I was. Because if you just want like an air horn and a couple of siren sounds. Yeah, you could totally do that with. With just switches.
Speaker A: Good deal. Yeah, I'm gonna. I'm gonna poke your brain on that, so. Well, I'm getting pushed out on a break, so I will be back momentarily. N60NY copy that.
Speaker B: Catch you later. KJ6Iymona.

Speaker A: Well, I don't know. I usually come up with it in the mornings when I decide to wake up, but a lot of times I make my way over in the mornings over to Chico Panera, have a cup of tea over there. I'm a member of the sip club, kind of. So I'll have tea or coffee. And if you don't. I don't know if you know Pat, you. I know you've met Pat before, but sometimes he shows up there too. We talk about the kind of stuff that you and I would probably talk about. You'd have to be prepared to stick around for a couple hours. Yeah, but. Yeah, I said I'd get in touch with you, but I still haven't been pretty busy right now with some things. But anyway, Mesh Networks is pretty interesting. We were working on. It's not just me, but it's not my project. It's a project, I would say a project that at least the Paradise Club has really taken up and have been working on it there on Mesh Core. Now one of the other guys is building something. I built a small node here and I just received some parts for another solar node I'm working on. But anyway, let me take a break in case Jim's there.
Speaker B: Can 6 MGK. Okay? Yeah, Nothing hurts. So.
Speaker A: Yeah, I just wanted to be sure. Not stepping on him in case he's wanting to come in and do the net, but any event. Yeah. So, you know, a lot of things just depends on what a guy's really wanting to do and what they expect. So. Probably need to sit down and write you a good email. You can still read. I know your eyes have some trouble. You could. You can still read emails. Okay. Right.

2026-03-06 03:34:28 UTC 89.9s · 2m Simplex (146.520 MHz)

Yeah, it could be. That could be. And you know that St. John Mountain, there's already a node up there, but it's not programmed correctly. So I think the owner of that node going to be making changes probably. Well, probably in the not too, too distant future. So that'll make a difference too, when it comes to mesh networking. Yeah, it's every. Everything that you possibly can get helps for sure. And yeah, if you've got that great path into the Sutter Buttes, I know they have a good node there. I think Jeremy's getting traffic from that, so you definitely get traffic into there. And so it would help push it around, that's for sure. So. But what's most important about it is for intel gathering, where they get information, especially out of the Bay Area and stuff like that seems to be getting passed on it all the time. And some of it doesn't make sense because they're not hams. They're just talking back and forth like they're brothers and sisters. So you have to try to follow the conversation. Sometimes some of them don't make sense because you might not get all the traffic, I don't know. But when something happens like say an earthquake or whatever, someone usually announces it there. You get that information pretty quick.

2026-03-06 03:36:19 UTC 35.1s · 2m Simplex (146.520 MHz)

Yeah, give it a break there. Yeah, I heard about that this morning. The local news carried it and talked about it being down there by Willows or something. Anyway, yeah, I put up, you know, I was cutting the cable and I got rid of DirecTV and I put up one of those little antennas and been pretty impressed with that for local channels. I get about 40 channels this year in the valley floor with that stupid little $45 antenna that come from Amazon.

2026-03-06 03:38:33 UTC 94.4s · 2m Simplex (146.520 MHz)

Yeah, you probably got a little bit of knife edge going on there on that last one. But anyway, I still copied everything you said anyway. Yeah, pretty interesting. What I wanted to make a comment to. When you mentioned Newsmax, that happens to be one of the channels I get on the free antenna. It's Newsmax 2, that's what it says there. But anyway, it's I think essentially the same people that were on Newsmax. You know, I don't know, maybe, maybe some of them are the new people that they're getting on board. I don't know. But I mean I was watching Greg Kelly yesterday, so I think he's one of the guys that's on Newsmax. So if they're showing, you know, anything like the State of the Union, whatever, they were showing it on there. So 24 hours a day. So it's free, right? You know. Well, free. As free as an antenna. You can buy 45 bucks. Anyway, we're hands, we're supposed to like antennas. All I did was take the Dish network, sorry, the DirecTV dish off and I stuck like a four foot pole in the part that was mounted on my roof and attached this antenna to yet put a screw through that pole and hook the coax. The same coax that the same feed line that fed the DirecTV is feeding my antenna. It just back feeds my whole house. So I find that pretty interesting.

Speaker A: I don't know. I'd have to look, I don't got time to. That's the one thing that I miss, by the way, is I used, you know, the Rack tv had a dvr. So any program I wanted to see if it was Jesse Waters or whatever, I would just hit the button, record, record every episode and I could come home and it could be 10 o' clock at night and I could toss on and see the whole episode of that show. Dvr, record the whole thing. And that was nice. No commercials. I could just skip through the commercials. That was nice. So, yeah, when you have. This is like going back to old school where you would have to know what time the program is on and so forth, right?
Speaker B: I don't have time to do that. I'm doing things. Well, I don't know. I think I just need to turn on my computer
Speaker A: and send you a link or something. Or do you do cell phones? Maybe we should start trading information that way because that's much easier. Send links across the cell phone so fast.

Speaker B: it. I'll plug it in and then I can send you a link that way. Yep. Some people are using that app called Signal. Have you been using that at all?

Yeah, but you already have the phone, so you're gonna. You're gonna die like the rest of us unless you keep it in your Faraday bag most of the time. I don't know. Yeah, I'm not really concerned. Concerned about that too much. I just want to go down with a fight, that's all.

2026-03-06 03:48:55 UTC 45.7s · 2m Simplex (146.520 MHz)

Yeah, but the same thing could happen if you just turn it off, right? I mean, when you turn it back on, it'll give you all the. All the text, too, so I don't know if I trust all that. Yeah. And then what? It reminds me of Bob. And don't get mad at me, but the maskers, you know, like, I keep seeing them. You know, sometimes they'll wear their mask, and then they. Then they go and they want to talk to their friend across the T, and they're drinking coffee, and they bring it down below their mouth, and they talk to them for 10 minutes and they put it all back on. Just saw that the other day. I thought we were over all that. Anyway, so. Yeah, once you pull it out of your Faraday bag, then a missile can be dropped on you.

Yeah, I was talking for about an hour, and the guy in Costco, we were in the gardening stuff, and I was talking to him, and he's up in Magalia and he's a nurse, you know, and they were trying to force him to have the clot shots and wear masks and stuff like that. He kept telling them no the whole time, and then they would fit him up for a mask, and he has a little beard, and every time they fit them up for their stupid mask, they never sealed properly and stuff like that. But anyway, he was able to skate by all that stuff, fortunately for him, so he didn't have to partake, but he did have to do the testing, you know, every couple of days or whatever. And he said that he barely would put the thing in his nose at all, you know, and they didn't really seem to care too much. But you come to find out, if you do some reading on that, that a lot of the tests and stuff like that have the nanoparticles and stuff like that, the graphenes and all that, right on the testing swabs.

The same thing with COVID You know he was probably involved in all that too so just like the AIDS and then now you find out he's one of the biggest Epstein guys you know he didn't even want to admit all the stuff he's done with Epstein so you know he's a freak. Yeah, well, I don't know. I mean, I think for what you do mostly, it wouldn't be that difficult because it's all the same things like Google Chrome or something like that. The Chrome browser is. The Chrome browser doesn't matter what operating system it's on. So, yeah, it just starts off with a clean desktop. That's the problem. You're used to having a whole bunch of stuff all over your desktop, like these app sorties, shortcuts to open up programs. Instead, you just have a black screen, essentially when you start off. And you have to add all that stuff, too. You get to add what you want to it. You know, it's kind of like you get to eat the food you want to eat. You don't just get served a buffet. But you're checked in and the points don't matter. Yeah, I guess there's another one. Kilo, nine Kilo, Alpha Delta, I guess. I don't think I caught his name maybe. I think he spoke before. His name may be Mark or something. He had a, an off center fed dipole for sale. Palomar. He know it's pretty good. But anyway, I know you don't want nothing like that. Yeah, I went over to Yankee Hill in about, I'm going to say almost 3 o' clock after I was eating my lunch there. I pushed the button a few times too and I should have gotten in from there as I was getting into system 36 good. So I can't imagine why I wouldn't have. So I figured at that point I gave it two or three hits and then I go, okay, I bet you something went down or we're just having bad VHF propagation. That was my thoughts and then I put it away. So yeah, I thought something like that might have happened. Was it after three o' clock or before? Okay, well, yes, I wasn't, I didn't feel like I was getting in at all. So. Yeah, okay, well we just. I just think something's going on. Could be propagation just like with Bob and me. I was hearing him good one time and then one time it would just be okay. And he kind of reiterated the same thing. Yeah, I don't know, I think it'd be more like the commies, you know, Heck, Governor Newsom and the Chinese are in bed with each other. So he had just given the frequency. Yeah, one of my other buddies was talking about how North Korea was threatening that they might get involved and I should be concerned. And I'm like, I'm not concerned about little Rocket Man. Yeah, they're not going to be able to do very much without any oil. We don't need no oil. I mean it's nice to have that on the global market. But we don't need the oil. They do. No, but some of our other friends need it too. Like India. India is kind of a quasi friend. Yeah, that's probably a better word for it. Yeah, so. And I like them better than I like a lot of others, but still, I mean they're two faced. They're just not as two faced as Turkey is. Yeah, they got some of our nukes there. So that's interesting. Okay, well, yeah, I knew it couldn't have been football because that would have been too simple of an answer. But, yeah, anyway, anyway, I'm skeptical on all these wars, depending on how you figure it out. Yeah, we have massive power in America, but we're like 6,000 miles away. So logistics wins wars. So anything that we do in the Middle east like that is just going to be some sort of a quagmire. That's what I think. So you got to have clear objectives, and that is one thing I don't know that we have a real clear objective. They just don't want to release it. We just want to really screw them up over there so they can't do nothing for a decade anyway. So otherwise it involves boots on the ground and then, you know, going house to house to eradicate the regime, you know, then how are you ever going to get the trust of the people to want to like you if you're in there killing their brothers and stuff? Right. So I don't know. Trump's got to find a way, and if anyone can do it, he can, to save face and to leave with a win.

So. Yeah. Hey. Go. Be careful. Let's make sure we let everyone know we're talking about meshtastic or some sort of a mesh radio node that needs firmware. When he's talking about flashing his unit, that's what he's talking about.

2026-03-06 14:45:29 UTC 26.9s · 2m Simplex (146.520 MHz)

Yeah, we just wanted to clarify. Having a little fun this morning? Hey. Yeah. So, yeah, not recognizing. I mean, that's just a Helltech board. Like, I have, you know, the. The board itself. Right? Like they call it $25. You know, basic board, right? No screen and using your Mac, or are you using a Windows or what?

2026-03-06 14:46:36 UTC 48.5s · 2m Simplex (146.520 MHz)

Speaker A: Okay, So I. I know I'm gonna play the technician, you know, like as if I was a service writer or whatever, going back to the basics. So anyway, did you put it in dfu?
Speaker B: Well,
Speaker A: when you first plug it in, it may have. You know, when you first plug it in with good power, it should have had some sort of an LED light, right? Like, it might have been white, but that would signify that it had some power going to it, right?

2026-03-06 14:47:49 UTC 69.2s · 2m Simplex (146.520 MHz)

Okay, yeah, but. So to get into DFU mode, you got to put like. Okay, if you're looking at the board, you'll see one button on the right and one button on the left. Right. I'm gonna confuse you now. So you stand at the board, and the buttons are in front of you, and they're at the bottom. You know, on the right side there's a button, and on the left side there's a button. So the left side button is the kind of the restart, you know, button where, like, if it had the firmware on it and you tap that, it'll restart the screen and, you know, all that kind of stuff. If there was one. But the right one is like the. I think they call it the restart button or restart button, reset button, maybe. I have to look up the terminology they call it. But that's the one that you. You've got to like. I think you got to tap it. So you're going to hold that one, and then you hold both of them. Basically, you hold both buttons in and then wait for a few seconds, and then you release the left button, and that puts it in DFU mode, right?

2026-03-06 14:49:32 UTC 70.1s · 2m Simplex (146.520 MHz)

Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, we're on the same page. I just had turned it 90. In my mind, I'm turning it 90 degrees because I'm facing the board, you know, dead on, like, lengthwise. The top part is the non button side and the buttons are the bottom. So just rotates at 90 degrees. So this is just being clarified that essentially you're putting it in DFU mode, because what you're describing to me sounds to me like your computer doesn't even know that you're wanting to do a firmware upgrade. I mean, the board doesn't know, and so it doesn't tell the computer to try it. You know, if you do, like I said, I think you push both buttons in, you know, hold them down for like, say, five seconds, and then you let go of the one. In your case, the way you describe it, the. It would be the.
Speaker B: Yeah, you let go of the lower one. Yeah, you would. Yeah, you would let go of the restart button.

2026-03-06 14:51:36 UTC 32.5s · 2m Simplex (146.520 MHz)

And of course, I was assuming, probably shouldn't have, but that it's all plugged in, you know, to your, to your, what do you call it? To your, to your Windows computer. You should be able to see, you know, if you have the right screen up on your Windows computer to observe the com ports, you know, that it'll come on, you know, when it recognizes it either and tell you which serial port it's on or it'll turn off if it's just not recognizing it.

2026-03-06 14:52:48 UTC 16.6s · 2m Simplex (146.520 MHz)

Well, can you observe it? Come on and off of the com port. I know you know how to do that. I may not be able to describe it in Windows very well, but, you know. So you unplug your cable, you know, plug it in and it should reappear.

Okay, well, I went and got out mine, in case you're still there. This is KN6MGK. Went out and got mine and plugged it in, you know, from essentially a no, no light mode, plugged into my USB data cable and nothing shows up in my com ports. Then I was able to just top push the top button one time, in and out, and immediately it showed up. Yeah, and then let me see if I'll push it again here, see if it goes away. A long press it may be. Anyway, so that's the first sign that definitely it's being recognized by the computer.

Okay, so you mean on your. On your. When you say display, I mean you have no display on the health tech board. So we're talking about you haven't never seen it come up in your computer. Right. Okay, so then I'm mistaken and you don't have what I have. You have one with a OLED on the Heltech and I don't on this one. So. Okay, so. Yeah, just. Just making sure. Okay, well, then, I don't know. I'm trying. I was under the wrong impression, but I don't think that should change anything. But if it's not, I mean, if you plug it in, I mean, from the factory, I mean, usually the screen would come on in some way. Let me just think. I mean, maybe they didn't put no firmware in it at all, I guess, which is one thing, but it just seems like the ones that we, at least when we ordered them, you know, with the complete kit, when we plugged them in, they had something on them. So I'm guessing maybe methodology did that. So still should be the same thing. Anyway, if you have the right cable, I'm going to bring mine with me just in case. But anyway, your computer should recognize it, you know, if you hit those buttons just right. Whatever it takes to enter that DFU mode, before you even try to put any firmware in, you need to make sure that your computer is recognizing it. And I think that's where the issue still stems. Now, of course, you could have a bad unit or something too, but try to go down the other aisle first. KN6MGK. Yeah, and see, when I. When I tap the bottom one, it shifts from com 34 to comm 30. And so, yeah, I mean, I know it's being recognized by the computer at least, but anyway, and one of those will have the. Probably in this mode. It's the DFU mode. So anyway. And then usually if you're in the DFU mode, the auto detect would work on that flasher too. Make sure you're using the Chrome browser, too. The Chrome browser. Anyway. No, I can't really afford going to breakfast this morning, so. But I'll be at the Starbucks maybe early. I know that I had some expectations, you know, because of Ann's unit and so forth. So I'm bringing my cables and stuff like that, and my computer anyway, in case I want to try to get her wish Mesh thing going. So just try to cover the bases there. Plus, if Robert makes it, I owe him some money, so I need to take care of that. So anyway, Like I say, it might be early up there, but. But I'm not going to go to practice. KN6NGK.

Speaker A: Well, the only mistake I've ever seen is I know a person can put in the charging lead in wrong or something. You know, I've heard of that happening. I had a mistake here with mine one time that wasn't reversing the polarity. At least my red lead's on the left and the black lead is on the right. That's connected into the right terminal on the board if you're looking at
Speaker B: it with USB C down. Yeah. So I mean, I don't know that it
Speaker A: matters to be honest. You know, it could be another one too. I've never wanted to try it. I just was following directions. But one of them is for solar. But I bet you on the board they're probably connected or something like that would venture a guess some in some fashion they're in parallel or something and probably wouldn't matter if you switched them. So I don't know. Yeah. So as long as you got, you know, your roughly 4 volts to it then I mean, you say you're getting a light, so that's positive as far as I'm concerned that it's got power going to it.

2026-03-06 15:09:29 UTC 70.7s · 2m Simplex (146.520 MHz)

Speaker A: Yeah, that's kind of why I avoided that question about power. Because when you said you had a flashing light or whatever, that generally just means to me that, you know, that essentially, you know, it's got power going to it. So. Yeah, the only thing I can think of is just your computer or cable or whatever is not recognizing the DFU mode or not NDFU mode or whatever. So, yeah, if you can't figure it out, then, yeah, I'll bring my stuff up and let's hope that one of us can figure it out
Speaker B: anyway
Speaker A: and get it flashed.
Speaker B: That'd be cool. Alrighty. I'm gonna go wake
Speaker A: up the wife and get her going. I plan on leaving here around an hour from. So I might stop off at Panera first, though. We'll see. Get me a cup of tea or something to get me going. KN6MGK Good morning. Good morning, Jay. See? Definitely see you later.

I heard life and 6 ntm. Yeah, it was excellent, excellent, excellent. A lot of, lot of emotions. Well, amongst the, the top couple of people, you know, especially amongst the girls, you know, I mean it's, it's not like the relationship is over or anything like that, but you know, some people are just ready to retire, time for the next phase, you know. But yeah, there was, there was a lot of emotion there. Talking about old times. They put up about a hundred pictures of, you know, on a, on a carousel style digital deal there. So there was a lot of reminders of times passed and yeah, I seen her, her mom tear up a couple of, a couple of times and yeah, it was pretty cool. Anyway, kind of hard to explain but I know, you know, I don't know how many employees you guys had around, but you know, anybody that lasts more than five or 10 years, I knew, I knew John was going to show up, that we had breakfast with and his girlfriend. They fit right in at the table they sat at. Every time I looked over there, there were busting up, laughing pretty hard. Of course Chewy, one of the workers there, he's caught a conversationalist. So anyway, all in all the salmon was good, the food was good in general. I don't know what they did. I never had a, I never had a prime rib that didn't have any flavor, but that one was it. They must have marinated it in water, fish bowl water or something, I don't know. May have a little bit of flavor, but yeah, anyway, yeah, it was great. Lori got up and talked about the parts of the association there that the camaraderie and the family feelings. I noticed that about that company early on. They interacted well together, somehow maintained that over the years. And of course a lot of thanks was given from the guy who started the company. She's renowned in her trustability, Both feet with her heart in the business, it was pretty good. Of course the guy that took over for the guy who started the company, he didn't much care for her at first, but she got a lot of hugs anyway. I'm sure you get the picture. He grew to appreciate her and realize what she was worth and that was the feeling of most of the people there. So, yep, her cup brim is over. So what do you got going today?

Speaker A: Going to put up a separate base antenna area. I get it. You don't have to see that.
Speaker B: And that Craftsman. That Craftsman stud finder doesn't find studs. Maybe it's the paint here or. But yeah, I did the two fresh board tests thinking it may be something in the modern paint or whatever, but you could put a fresh 2x4 underneath a stud. Fresh R111. And it does. It doesn't detect the 2x4 underneath it. Not sure what's going on there. Maybe it all the walls are sheetrock here. I. I think that was just a Jew thing. But anyway, it went up easy enough, but enough wood would took all the worry about drilling holes or splitting beams.
Speaker A: You'll like it.
Speaker B: It's authentic theater cinema.

Speaker A: Well, good morning, Chris. Happy Friday.
Speaker B: KN6GTN and a happy Friday to you, Ernie. How you doing this morning?
Speaker A: Doing good so far. Beautiful day up here. It's a fantastic time of the year. Things are growing and looking. Everything looks, you know, nice and green and just beautiful time of the year.
Speaker B: Yeah, I love this time of year. Everything is green. I remember I got into a discussion with somebody from California a long time ago about, you know, sprinklers and things like that and watering the lawn. And they said, well, I'm not used to, you know, sprinklers. It's like, well, what did you do back in Illinois in the, in the, you know, it's like we didn't need sprinklers. We had. The sky was our sprinkler.
Speaker A: Yeah. It's a whole different world out here. Different culture. It's so different. And, you know, I grew up never realizing there was, you know, Mediterranean climates. When you live in the middle of the thick of it back in the Midwest, it just happens. It rains and stuff grows. In the winter, it gets cold and the leaves all come off the trees. I just thought it was so different when you here in the winter. You know, the summer it's dry and.
Speaker B: But you have. Trees are green.
Speaker A: But you go back to the Midwest in the wintertime and it looks like the whole thing like, you know, like the whole thing is dead.
Speaker B: Looks.
Speaker A: Looks pretty bad.
Speaker B: Yes, yes, yes. So speaking of which, you got any travels planned lately?
Speaker A: I don't have any. Just real. This, this summer we'll be going back to the Midwest, but nothing just right, right now my. Two of my, actually three of my children are over a long ways from home.
Speaker B: They're.
Speaker A: Travis is in Malaysia right now and Kimberly and Melody's in the Philippines. So they'll be bringing her home
Speaker B: here
Speaker A: in a couple weeks. So they took, Travis and Kimberly took
Speaker B: a three week trip.
Speaker A: They went to visit Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and the Philippines.
Speaker B: Wow, that is traveling a field. That is. So why Malaysia?
Speaker A: I have no idea what they. My youngest daughter's been teaching school over in the Philippines and the schools over here, here in a couple weeks.
Speaker B: So they're going to bring her home,
Speaker A: but they wanted to go see these places. And Kimberly, my oldest daughter, she's a real, she's a real organizer. She figures she's the one that kind of directed the trip on where all they're going to go and the rest of them are just going with her.
Speaker B: Okay, I can see that. You know, that would be an intriguing place to go visit. Yeah. There's a, There's a couple places like that that I wouldn't mind going. I don't think that that's ever going to happen, but. And actually if I went anywhere again it would probably be back to Europe.
Speaker A: Yeah, I wouldn't mind that either. Some point in time I haven't, like I said, I haven't made any plans to do it but. And actually I wouldn't mind at some point seeing Israel, but I mean right now the last couple years haven't really been the time to go do that but I have some customers who come from Israel. They offered to be my tour guide but I don't know, we're not there yet.
Speaker B: Yeah, no, I would not be making any plans right now. I think. I'm not sure whether I told you I was stationed in Egypt for a year when I was in the Air Force I was part of a. I was a military advisor, Ernie and while we were there, some of my, some of the guys I was with, they said we're going to go over to Israel. I said that's fine, you guys go. When they came back they told me that an hour after they had left Israel they got on the bus at some where, I don't know where, an hour later, that same square, some terrace, blew up a bus that same place.
Speaker A: Yeah, it's interesting, A little dicey actually over there now, so be a good place to let quiet down here while. If it ever quiets down. But anyhow. Well, Chris, I figured I'd say hi, I'm already destinated here. I'm going to see what the day holds here. 73, you have a good day, Good chat with you.
Speaker B: All right. I hope you have a reasonably serene day, quiet day, no emergencies or anything like that and have a great weekend. If I don't talk to you before then. 73 KK6BZV clear.
Speaker A: It's a Friday, Chris. Don't expect too much KN6GTN.

Yeah, well, auto walls are pretty clear here. 2 by 6 by 6 beam over 1 side and then they. Then they stepped it up. So the vertical studs stopped at the 6 by 6. At 8ft the ceiling took over on the other half over the archway. It switched to taller studs that go up into the attic and are cased with a 2x4 on top. Not a load bearing finish of the wall. So there wasn't. No, there wasn't anything to tie into. Up in the ceiling where the sheetrock met. We got some of my real smallest bits that had some length 4 or 5 inches and did a couple tests or holes even on angles and midair for the last six feet over to the next wall. But they came out. It looks, looks uniform. It's plenty strong, so it's all right. We had to put one little L bracket in which we put behind the two by six. So it just comes down and goes over. You'd have to go up there and actually be looking for it to see it. So no big deal. You'll see it eventually, whenever you feel like it. Shoot. You interacted enough with Trevor. You should have felt welcome. Anyway, Yeah, they're going home today. They're going up to Reno to spend the night. Oh yeah, that was another one. You get a kick out of that. I was telling Lauria I was trying to get her to go there yesterday, but of course then we had company, so. But that there's a big wedding shot she showed me. It was probably 100ft, maybe even a little more of wedding dresses hanging along one wall. I told her we should stop in there. Probably freak those people out if we pick one out that fits me and I go in the dressing room and put it on, get some pictures. I would give. Give Trevor's better half quite the laugh. But of course we never did it. I think that kind of thing is acceptable in America today. And 200 layers of skin smoother. Oh, brother. All right, well, I got coffee waiting. I tied up the frequency long enough. N6 NTM glory didn't bring back any firewood. I guess we're going to use the regular heater this morning. Well, me and Lori did last Sunday. Came up after church and they were out of them. I was bummed.

Speaker B: Oh, okay.
Speaker A: I'm just sitting here.
Speaker B: Studying. I guess
Speaker A: I
Speaker B: took on a little adventure. Whether it be temporary or long term, I'm not sure yet. I have become a admin or administrator agent. They call it allstarlink.org so at this time all I'm doing is just responding to help desk questions and concerns. Yeah, kind of, I don't know, kind of, kind of fun. Gives me something to do. I don't have all the answers, but I have a lot of resources and canned messages as they call it, to respond back to somebody with.
Speaker A: Well, yeah, yeah. So you'll need to become even more versed in All Star technology than you are now. I've been looking at and thinking about getting involved with the thing that's going to happen in May and if you wanted to look it up, because it's quite amazing. If you wanted to look it up. It's called the Lemurian Race. Lemurian, kind of like the supposed
Speaker B: mythical
Speaker A: little creatures that they say were running around Mount Shasta. It was named after. After those. And it's a bike race. Have you heard of it?
Speaker B: I have. It's Womerian, isn't it? L E M. I think it's U U R I A N. Is that correct? The Lemurian classic. Yeah, the 20, I think. Yeah. I think they're having a big race for 2026 in Reading. I have heard of it.
Speaker A: Yeah.
Speaker B: Good stuff. In fact, I think the scariest was going to help them out one year with communication.
Speaker A: But
Speaker B: something happened or something didn't happen. I don't remember.
Speaker A: Well, one year we had one year. Chastebali was the primary repeater. And then Chaste Bali started having trouble, having various problems. And when it started having problems, they had to come up with some other communication plan. I, I don't know if Chef Folly will, you know, whether they'll ever use Chef Folly again. I don't know. But the year that they did use it, it Was perfect. It was absolutely perfect. It worked great. And that was back before the generator started trying. They started trying to make the generator work, and that's when Jesse Volley started having trouble. But anyway, yeah, I haven't seen her as the generator come back on for a while. Maybe they stopped trying to make it work. You know, they were never able to figure out the problem it had. And so, yeah, the Lemurian race is on. And it turns out it's only like a couple miles away from me. Part of it. One part of the track is only a couple miles away from me. I just looked it up.
Speaker B: Yeah. Pearl and expert. 28 miles for it. 17 miles short sport. 9.5 miles, beginner. That's me. 5 miles. Sweating. Recreation area. Yeah. You're close to that, aren't you? All right, well, cool. Yeah, I missed. I miss volunteering my time doing those bike races and the running races up there in the Shasta and Yreka area. Yeah, those are fun. I always enjoy doing those.
Speaker A: Yeah. And I'm not sure how they communicate nowadays. They may have decided to try to put a mountain. Put a repeater up, a temporary repeater up on Mule Mountain. Because this race travels right around the slopes of Mule Old Mountain. That's why it's not just 26 miles on flat ground. It extremely steep and stuff. Like, some of the guys were coming down some of these hills and crashing, needing areas of help. So if you. If you can look at that site close enough, you'll find. Eventually find a map. And the map is what I call a flatlanders map. It makes it look like it's all flat and it's definitely not flat.
Speaker B: Yeah, I just clicked on the courses. Expert Pro Course, 28 miles, 3,850ft. Okay, there's a map. Wow. Wow, that's a hell of a map. Okay. Yeah, I found the map.
Speaker A: You want me to forward this to
Speaker B: you, this map stuff? Yeah. Good information.
Speaker A: Yeah. Now, someplace in that description, if they were to also add a thing that we used. I used it a lot when I was hiking, turning up trails, a thing called the elevation change. That's where you would get an idea of what the race is involved with. An elevation change. 28 miles on flat ground is nothing for those bike riders. But this is definitely not flat ground. You saw it on Google Earth. You'd be absolutely astounded by what you see. But they'd have to have a couple things going. They'd have to have a Google Map interface, and they'd have to have a Google Earth interface to make it possible to see this trail from the elevation perspective. There's the guy. Guy that I. I'm going to make a call down to the local ham radio shop up here called Retco. I know it's called. Or what's it called anyway, the local ham radio shop that's run by Bill. I'm gonna. He's probably listening and I'm gonna give him a call and see if there is a Google Earth interface, because if there is one, then you'll be able to see the elevation changes.
Speaker B: Oh, yeah, these bike race guys and even running racing guys, they always put up a nice graph of the climbs and descents throughout the course. I don't see one here at the moment, but. All right, well, good. Yeah. All right, things a little scratchy here. I'm going to get back to what I was doing. I just didn't want to leave you hanging there, but yeah, so I sent you that on signal and this other stuff here you probably don't need. But anyways, yeah, go check that out. Okay, Mike, I'll talk to you later. And I will be listening certainly for your final. And I'm gonna get back to what I was doing here.
Speaker A: There's a whole lot of nothing, but it is something.
Speaker B: Talk to you later. N6 KNE, Genalta, Columbia
Speaker A: all right, Ken. Yeah, thanks for sending that. Actually, I had it on my cell phone because that's how I'm able to tell you about this race to update the 26 version to make sure that they're still doing what they did before. And I'm walking up to a bluebird nest. What's going on with the bluebird stage? Found a blue bird nest in an oak tree. In a hole in an oak tree. And also, like I say, if I find the interface to Google Earth, I will send it to you because I know you're astounded by the map you see, but if you saw interface on top of Google Earth, you would say, no, it can't do that. There's no way they can do that because it's just absolutely nuts what those races are doing. All right, talk to you later. Don't study too long, too hard and give your beautiful wife small kinds of attention, even though you're an administrator now and mixed GRT calculator.

Speaker A: KK6WLD mobile, this is 31
Speaker B: Los Angeles link up.
Speaker A: Okay, that, that buzz is from a 10,000 watt transmitter in a case that is. It's in a case right next to, in a rack as they say, right next to our repeater rack. And when the SWR goes up a little bit on that step down the stat, it does what you're hearing. There is a fix for us. For us there's a fix that eventually will have to be put in place to get rid of the hump and fix drg. No problem. Okey dokey. Just wanted to let you know that it's pretty loud. It's almost as loud as your audio. So it's pretty, pretty hard to make out your what you're saying at the moment.
Speaker B: Yeah, there is a way for me to get
Speaker A: away from that noise by going into a different repeater. One of them is about 100 miles south of me and I'm on a portable. But I'm going to try that right now. Well, no second thought, I won't try that because this is a small portable and I don't have it programmed into it. I won't be trying anything right at this moment. But yes, it's a known problem. It's a hum that comes from a FM transmitter called Q97. High power. High power transmitter 10,000 with maybe 100kW RP ERT. It.

Speaker A: It's called the Quan Shang portable with a really long antenna called Abre A B V R E E.
Speaker B: Is that one of those antennas you can tie into a knot?
Speaker A: Well, it does fit.
Speaker B: Is it quarter or halfway?

Speaker A: Yep, It's a very special antenna. Look it up. A P P R E E.
Speaker B: Can it be purchased domestically?
Speaker A: Yes, but I don't know how many connector bases are available for it. This one has an SMA that works
Speaker B: on
Speaker A: Chinese portables and that sort of thing.
Speaker B: Does Steve know about it?
Speaker A: You know, I don't know if he does or not. Well, he's heard me use it before but I don't know if he's ever really looked at it that close.
Speaker B: I don't know if he even owns any portables.
Speaker A: Oh yeah, he uses portables into 36 sometimes. I'm going on 36, but I'm way up in writing right now.
Speaker B: There is one repeater up there. He said, I guess it's a Blake head that's only on 6 watts. Why is that?
Speaker A: Because the power amplifier fried and I was able to get it to. To put out 6 watts before I left. That's as much as. That's as far as it's gotten. I asked for another for it and they said no. They gave me a reason. I wasn't. I'm not even gonna repeat. It was ridiculous.
Speaker B: So not a high priority for them.
Speaker A: Well, since you put out that, I will repeat what you said. That's exactly what they said.
Speaker B: Well, I guess they're not getting enough contribution. So I can't blame them. And instead of somewhat of a remote area compared to, you know, they're maintaining everything in the Bay Area, but they're weak in Southern California. I know that
Speaker A: that repeater up on there's a new link now going right directly to Santiago Peak and that's a high powered repeater. I'm pretty sure
Speaker B: what number. That's Good news.
Speaker A: System 31. It's looking down over Los Angeles and San Diego.
Speaker B: Yeah, when I was down in Southern California I would use the wind system but I don't like it because you're so local when you get on goes everywhere like link, everything is linked.
Speaker A: Yeah, the people that are down in Los Angeles aren't really up too much on how Santiago System 31 works and how Carla works because it didn't work for a long, long time. And so they know now they know how it works now they're learning.
Speaker B: Not maintained by Tom or some of the guys up here.
Speaker A: Oh yeah it is, but
Speaker B: didn't work
Speaker A: for years very well because it had to go through a whole bunch of different repeaters to make it there. It had to go through five repeater Peters to make it to Los Angeles.
Speaker B: It looks like Breckenridge or whatever these are Bakersfield.
Speaker A: No, it actually went along the coast. It went first to 19, then it went to four and then it went to. I think from there it went to 29 and then it went to 30 and then it went to 31.
Speaker B: Does it still do that or are they using the Internet now?
Speaker A: It's all star. It's got an all star link. And I think Tom had to drive down there to hook it up.
Speaker B: Well, the next time I'm down there, I'm gonna have to check it out.
Speaker A: Yeah. And you know, I don't know if you're aware, but for years ham radio in Los Angeles, especially on VHF has been kind of a touchy thing and all the two meter repeaters were being constantly interfered with by intentionally by non am so. They. Oh, they may not want it to be put out to everyone down there that it's there. It is a UHF repeater down there though.
Speaker B: Is it on the car? Yeah, Carver side? It's on 31. That's on the Carver side, right?
Speaker A: No, it's top secret. No, just kidding. Yeah, it's on Carloradio Nev.
Speaker B: When I've been down there with my rig and it's been a few years, but it's always been a mess. It doesn't matter whether it's UHF or vhf, it's just almost a disaster down there. They don't have a functional NARCC like we do. You know, a directory of your fingers.
Speaker A: Well, like I say, part of the problem was intentional interference.
Speaker B: Yeah. And I remember years ago that maybe they still have it. When wind system had a jammer, they suspected the jammer was in Southern California. Isn't that interesting?
Speaker A: Yeah, it was. I lived in, in Humboldt county and even found out about the interference in Los Angeles. But when I made it to Redding, I heard quite a bit about it. It was a big deal.
Speaker B: I don't listen to the wind system anymore. I did when I was living in the Bay Area. Is it still active? I mean, do they still have the camera or is it better now.
Speaker A: Yeah. I. Way back before I knew anything about Carla, I used to listen to it when I first arrived in Reading. But. And it was still active in, in the Reading area. There was an active repeater. I don't think there's an active repeater in Reading now.
Speaker B: Interesting because they are still listed on the NARCC site as being in Reading. I guess that has to be updated.
Speaker A: Oh, the NARCC site is the worst. Got the worst update situation going of any ham radio site out there.
Speaker B: You got that right. And still saw the west coast automatically updates every five minutes. I don't know what that means, but it's got so many inaccuracies in there. And I guess I don't know whether the repeater book draws off that or not.
Speaker A: Well, a repeater like. Like the one we're talking about, a system like the one we're talking about about is going to be out of date lot because every, every wind repeater is privately owned.
Speaker B: Yeah. I thought what's his name?
Speaker A: Jeff.
Speaker B: Own most of them. But I'm not sure that's true anymore.
Speaker A: I remember one when repeater was. Over. Over on a highway called the 199 way over on the coast and it was owned by a guy named Shorty. Do you remember hearing about that?
Speaker B: Yeah. Shorty is Jeff. Yeah.
Speaker A: And that repeater, his primary repeater was up in the mountains around the 199 someplace. He lived near Gascon.
Speaker B: Where is that? I thought they lived by Smith River.
Speaker A: Well, Smith river is a river, not a town. And Gatsby is a little town on the Smith River.
Speaker B: Okay, got it.
Speaker A: And I used to kayak the Smith River. It's a wild and crazy place to kayak, I tell you.
Speaker B: Did you have an HT that was waterproof or nothing?
Speaker A: I didn't even know there was any ham radio around there. Some of the parts of the Smith river, there's no one repeater that would cover it all because it's three different forks and. And the main fork would be the easiest one to cover. And I think that's the one that his repeater might cover. But I don't know exactly where his repeater was. Might have been way. There's a road that go. That used to be where Highway 101 went.
Speaker B: Sometimes they leave those roads open, sometimes not.
Speaker A: And that repeater, if we put a repeater up on that mountain, it would cover the main fork of the Smith river. The middle fork or the main fork, whatever you want to call it.
Speaker B: What do they do for Power up there, if they're on these mountains. Is it solar?
Speaker A: Yeah, it would have to be solar.
Speaker B: Is Bella Vista working operationally? Are you still having issues with the transfer switch?
Speaker A: You mean Bali?
Speaker B: Yeah, Bali.
Speaker A: Right now it's working. I think what they've done is shut down the generator because when the power went out, it went on battery and it didn't try to switch to the generator. I think if they were running the generator, it would wipe out the repeater. If they haven't fixed it,
Speaker B: you know, it sounds like they have a defective transfer switch.
Speaker A: Well, it's not a defective transfer, which is a defective electrician that hooked it up.
Speaker B: I hooked one of those up with a licensed electrician friend of mine whose license I used to work under. He was six and I was five and six. I don't know how you can screw up a transfer switch. You set one up because the church was a Red Cross disaster center for people to sleep and. Or just meat if they weren't sleeping.
Speaker A: Well, that one definitely screwed up. No doubt about it.
Speaker B: He.
Speaker A: Whoever put that in, I truly believe. That's my belief. I. You know, when we. When I used to go up there, I always thought about trying to figure out what was wrong with it and what was done wrong. But you'd have to have the book for the transfer switch. I didn't have that and I'm not qualify. Theoretically not a qualified transfer switch technician. So, yeah, so much for that.
Speaker B: And I will qualify. And ours was a manual transfer switch. If the power went out, he and I lived so close. I was like 21 10th miles away. We would go manually, turn it on. That's if I wasn't at work full time. I was in outside sales sometimes. I could be down the peninsula. He always worked locally as an electrician. He always stayed mostly in Marin.
Speaker A: I just, I'm just. I'm walking in a neighborhood that near my neighborhood and I just saw a sign that got hit. Can't believe it that somebody would hit that sign. It's drunk as a skunk to hit that sign. I don't know what to think about that. But that sign has definitely been hit anyway. Yeah, it's amazing how well this. This system is working with this antenna I've got. You wouldn't believe this antenna if you saw it.
Speaker B: Yeah, I've heard some wind noise up there, so I know you're outside. The dog must not be yours because I don't hear the dog anymore. You must have walked past it.
Speaker A: If I didn't make it on that transmission. I was in a bad spot. But yeah, a guy came out of his driveway, owns a logging company who has a really gnarly looking truck and my dog didn't know what to think.
Speaker B: Oh, you're walking your dog? I thought it was his dog.
Speaker A: Nope, he's walking right next to me. His name is Rudy.
Speaker B: You could strap a quarter wave and pen on his back while he's walking with you. And then you wouldn't have to carried if you had a bag mount.
Speaker A: Well, you know, I'm thinking about putting a quarter wave antenna on my E bike and putting a, you know, 10 or 15 watt radio on that E bike because I'm all over the place with that E bike. I like to have radio everywhere.
Speaker B: How are the roads out there? I mean, I know you kind of live in a remote area. In the remote areas here the roads are terrible.
Speaker A: Some of them are kind of steep. I go up a hill to my west, but very, not a very steep hill. And then I go. When I make it to Clear Creek Road, there's some very hilly roads and I have to use some pedal power to help.

In traffic. Anyway, Tom, have a great day. Seven threes to everybody. That's my final W2VX home clear. Doug? Yeah. I was one of the persons that asked if you were. I had this vision of you going down Highway 49 down to the. The confluence and thinking that's that, that that's crazy to ride that road there with all those cars. So. Okay, very good. Well, enjoy your bike ride and say hi to Teresa and take care there and we'll talk to them, I'm sure soon there. All right. Clearing with W2VX and then 6H for the coffee breaknet. Yes, it is after the witching hour of 10 o'. Clock. I got 1011 here on my clock. So we will go ahead here and open it up for quick, quick, quick in it. And for the log only. I'll take also for the log. So who's out there before as we close down the coffee breaknet? W8LBT Tim Michigan mobile. Good morning. N5T I enter the log. E7DFP cannon, Twin Falls. Kilo6 victor, papa myrtle, bog. Whiskey Bravo 3 Charlie Sierra Yankee for the log. Mike for the log.

Speaker A: All right, let me go. Who I have here. Okay. Okay, So I have KM6mm, I got Mike. And by the way, Mike, your audio is very, very weak there. So just FYI, for km6 mm, then I have ak6ns, I have kb3csy, wb7ukx, k6victor, papa. I got kv7df, DFT. I'll come back to you in a minute, ken. I got N5 Tin and I got W8LDT. So KV7DFE. I think you're the only in and out. Good morning. And of course you know what the question is.
Speaker B: Good morning and happy lentil soup day to you. No, I'm kidding. That's what I'm thinking about having. But heading home, it's cold and windy, 43 degrees, but it probably does not feel like it probably feels colder to me anyway. KB7 DSP mobile.
Speaker A: Alrighty. Like a great soup day then if it's that cold. Absolutely.
Speaker B: I don't know if I mentioned, but yesterday we did get a little bit of snow, but then it went away by the afternoon. So it was kind of a joke.
Speaker A: Well, I think that's always the best time. I mean you can get a little bit of snow there. Probably looks beautiful and then it clears up and then you don't have to deal with it.
Speaker B: Absolutely. Well, and then this weekend I think it's supposed to get pretty nice on Sunday up to 68 I think, you know, for us it's probably pretty warm.
Speaker A: Well, I think that that's going to be warmer than it is here, so. Yeah. Well, enjoy your spring like weather. So do you ever get a lot of days where you, where you actually get snow that sticks for a couple days. On a different year, but not this year.
Speaker B: This year was a little odd. We didn't really have much any snow. Maybe one day it was there for a little bit and then it was gone.
Speaker A: Okay. Well, I think it's easier, it's better to do that than to have to deal with a lot of the snow and kind of dig out and have frozen car doors and all that stuff, so. Well, you take care there. You have a great lunch and. Yeah, and stay warm.
Speaker B: I will. Well, I like snow, but now that it's getting to this time of the year, I'm ready for the, you know, the warmness. So have a great day.
Speaker A: KB7 DSP clear. Right seven three, Ken. And yeah, enjoy your, your lunch there. KB7 clearing with KB7 DFP. Okay, so let me go ahead here and do another round. I'll do in and Outs or. Or for the log and N6H.
Speaker C: Ki6lop Tom, I wasn't able to hear if you got me the first time.
Speaker A: All right. Good morning Russ. Ki6llp sound good. You sound good on your clear node. Well, thank you.
Speaker B: I just got a couple of those
Speaker C: 5R minis yesterday and so that I got it programmed up and that's what I'm using.
Speaker A: I really like the form factor of the some Baofeng UV5R minis. Just the right size.
Speaker C: Yeah. And the menu is idiot proof but not even for me.
Speaker A: Yeah but it's a pretty nice little radio and it has a nice little menu on it and color script stuff and to me it sounds good and it just the right size to put in your back pocket and walk around and you can listen to your note and communicate.
Speaker C: Amber, clear color. Kind of a clear colored case with an amber look to it.
Speaker A: I really like it.
Speaker C: It's kind of different.
Speaker A: Okay, very good. Well anything else for the net before I go ahead and hear and may do a last.
Speaker C: Just working this morning then starting a lot of home projects over the weekend. So everybody have a great weekend and
Speaker A: it's going to be beautiful.
Speaker C: And ki6lop73 very good there Russ7 three to you.
Speaker A: And yeah, and you're sounding good on your. On your new clear note.
Speaker B: Yeah.
Speaker A: And also this weekend just want to remind people that we do have spring forward. Spring forward on Sunday. So you're going to lose an hour of sleep but I think it sounds like it's going to be a nice weekend around here for weather wise. But yep, we will lose an hour of sleep on Sunday for spring forward. All right. Do one last call. One last call for the log only for the coffee breaknet before I close things out and shut things down. N2ZJP for the log. I think you called me kb3csy. Okay. Yeah. Wb.
Speaker B: Yeah.
Speaker A: Wb3csy. I might have called you something different but I, I have you written down there, rick. I know your call sign. So yeah, wb3csy. I have you correctly in the log here. All right then I saw kh7wm and I have n2zjb also for the log here. So anybody else that I'm missing final call. N6wyz. Okay. N6wyz you are the last one for the coffee breaknet for today. Okay, very good. So I will call that a wrap for the coffee breaknet. I am Tom NN6H. This has been the coffee breaknet. We do this every morning 7:30 until 10am ish Pacific time on the W6AK repeater all star 51018 and on EchoLink. And tomorrow we can continue the conversation with Orion AI6JB at 7:30. So just want to remind people that we do have a trivia night tonight at 7:30 on this repeater hosted by Don and and that'll be at 7:30 to 8:30 Pacific Time on the repeater and on the node and on echo link. And then again I had mentioned that this Sunday we have spring forward so you need to set your clock before you go to bed on Saturday night. We'll end up losing an hour of sleep unfortunately. So this is the coffee break net. This is where the sun is always shining, the birds are singing and the fish are jumping and as we're getting into march here that seems to be more the case here. Getting spring like weather all over the country. So enjoy the weekend, enjoy this Aloha Friday. This is Tom at N6H and I will be returning the repeater back to normal operation and everybody have a great great Friday and a Great Weekend and N6H is quitter.

Speaker B: Yeah, if you don't want to extend the current node, you can go there and just request a second node second address from allstarlink.
Speaker A: Cool. And then do you think I'll need to send my clear node back to Jerry to get it configured with the new node, or can we do that via the flashing deal?
Speaker B: You would have to go in and connect into your node through probably ssh through a computer program to tell it to update it to the new node number. You have to change the node number. There's a menu item that you can go through, but it's not. You can't. I don't think you can do. You can't do it from the. Well, I don't think you can do it from the panel. I would contact Jerry and tell him that you want to change to a different note number and have him tell you what the sequence is.
Speaker A: Thank you. I got to get back to work. I was just thinking about that, and I want to catch you while you're on. I'll probably be on the net on Monday night.
Speaker B: All right, very good. Yeah, Patrick, N2DYI will be doing that. And yeah, if you have any questions about that, you know, chime in there. Yeah. So the best thing to do is just to tell Jerry that you want to get a. Get a node number and tell him what node number you want to make it, change it to, and then he can give you the process for how that would happen.

Speaker A: Get up those.
Speaker B: Well, at least when you're wherever you are, if there's potholes, you're going slow enough to see them so you can
Speaker A: avoid them on a bike. Well, speaking of potholes, I was at this bl. It's like a BLM horse dog park place where, you know, you can park horse trailers there and take your horse out and ride all over this area. People walk with their dogs there and stuff. And I was talking to him because there's been a problem there. Some guys are getting close to doing some damage and they're pushing rocks around so they can go drive their four wheel drive where they're not supposed to be. And then the other day I actually was able to talk to the guy and that's how I found out, you know, he was asking me, well, do you know who moved that rock? And blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And I didn't know and I might have to help him find out.
Speaker B: But
Speaker A: he told me that regardless of what the county is saying, that I can ride my E bike on all those trails and it's perfectly okay. And he's a bl. He was a BLM ranger, so he says it's okay with me. You're legal.
Speaker B: Well, you know, that's interesting. Since E bikes came into existence, I used to, when I was a transit driver, I would terminate at the main headquarters for the. What is it, the Golden Gate? No, it was the Point Reyes National Recreation Area out at Point Reyes. And that there was bikes? No, there wasn't mountain bikes. I think mountain bikes were prohibited. There was horses and pedestrians. And I think that was it on the Bear Valley Trail that went from there to the ocean.
Speaker A: Well, what I was going by in this area was there's signs that say bikes, horses, dogs, people, all okay. And then below it, it shows a motorbike with a motor, a car or truck, not okay. So I thought, well, you know, that means they. I think that means ATVs aren't okay and motorcycles aren't okay. Well, technically the state considers my bike to be a bicycle. My E bike is licensed as a bicyc and you don't have to have a license to drive it. You don't have to. You can drive on anywhere. You can ride a bicycle. You can ride this thing. And I thought, well, with that sign, maybe they don't include it. Well, they do include it. It turns out.

Okay, final. I found a way to communicate. I'm on system 25 links. My radio that was transmitting into 36 has failed. System 20 is motorboating. That's why the beep beep beep is happening. And 25 has some hump, but I'm just barely able to make it over the hump. N6 GRT system 25 length. I'm still on local, but you have a nasty hump on 20.

Mike. The radio. The radio that I can hear you on, it's constantly saying low voltage, constantly telling me it's got low voltage, and if the voltage is so low, it won't transmit. So that's what happened to me. All of a sudden I could not transmit. I can hear you, but not transmitting anything. It could have been longer and it had been all right with me. Yeah, well, you know that ain't true because here I am, I keyed up back to you. Yeah, definitely within the last two weeks. So you know Jay out here, don't you? And you know his brother Blake wiq, although IQ has not much to do with it. So, you know, I, I bought Jay's brother Blake, I, he wanted to buy one of my bulls here to service his cows. Yeah, you know what cows and bulls are? They mate and have little cows. So anyway, I sold them one of my bulls and he, after about a week went by, he called me up and he goes, I'm afraid to mate this bull with my cows because it looks like it's cross sided and I won't be able to sell the cows. And I told him, well, let me come over and get a look at it. I loaded up my four foot tube, you know, clear air tube, and I went over there and sure enough, that cow was, that bull was, was cross sided. So I, I put the, I put the tube in the back of the bull without getting too explicit, and I told him, go around the front and watch the bull's eyes and let me know if they uncross. And I blew in the tube and Blake goes, that's it, that's it. Yeah, his eyes straightened right up. So I went back around the front and we were keeping an eye on it and make sure it didn't just go back, you know. And after about five minutes or so, I was getting tired of hanging out with Blake anyway, but it looked like they were starting to cross up again. I told him, this time you go around the back and blowing that tube. Let me see how the eyes reacted. He went back there and I seen him sliding the tube out of the bowl. And I go, no, no, you gotta blow in it first. And he goes, well, you don't think I'm gonna put my mouth on the end? You add in your mouth. Blake's kind of funny that way. Speaker A: And 6K at easy
Speaker B: listening to a whole lot of nothing.
Speaker A: Sorry.
Speaker B: We'll refund your money shortly.
Speaker A: Are you down there? Can and six 72.
Speaker B: I don't believe that for a second. I. I've tried the refund department there at California Amateur Radio Linking association and. And it did nothing for me.
Speaker C: So.
Speaker B: Yeah, promises, promises. Hey, Tom, how you doing?
Speaker A: Wait a minute. We have a refund department. Maybe that's the problem, you know, you thought you got the refund department. I'm doing okay. How are you?
Speaker B: I'm doing very well.
Speaker C: Very well.
Speaker B: Kind of been taking a little bit of a break with. For some of my personal stuff here, which is all good. And then I decided to become a
Speaker C: Administrator
Speaker B: for all Starlink.org so there you go. I approve and disapprove of All Star note. And I've got surprisingly, surprisingly because I was surprised. I've got surprisingly power at my fingertips and I certainly wasn't expecting that. But anyways, it's all cool. I'm learning a lot. Hopefully stuff that will help help answer some questions that we're having with.
Speaker C: With.
Speaker A: Okay. Well, you know, a word to the wise, vengeance and retribution is not a pretty thing. And you know, don't get yourself into a conflict of interest predicament or anything like that. Not that you would, of course, but I think I know where this could be going or you know, what we're talking about and possibilities. I could be wrong, but does make you chuckle, doesn't it?
Speaker B: Tom, you've got me pegged. You are exactly right in your assumption of what I was talking about and you weren't even assuming. You read between the lines.
Speaker A: And
Speaker B: that's funny. And you're absolutely right what you're thinking I would never do. But I could do. I could do it. I could just do it. And I wouldn't. But I could.
Speaker C: Anyway,
Speaker B: enough of that.
Speaker C: I don't know who's listening.
Speaker A: I was going to say be careful what you say or right to be held against you in a court of law. But yeah, it would be a beautiful thing as saying goes. Maybe you can be bought. Who knows. Oh, man. Oh, well, I'm sure you'll. You'll conduct yourself with the utmost integrity because that's who you are. And I do mean that with all. So. All right. Well now. Now that I'm done stroking your ego. Anyhow. Yeah, it's a beautiful day over here in the neighborhood. Hopefully it's nice over there and I'm in the parking lot here, so I was actually going to jump Out. But I just wanted to, you know, say hello. Let you know that there was somebody listening out here. And there is no such thing as refund department. So let's not spread fake news, please.
Speaker C: All right?
Speaker B: I only thought there was a refund department because you told me there was a refund department.
Speaker A: Okay?
Speaker B: You enjoy your parking lot, lot and whatever. Whatever storefronts it involves. And I will be listening.
Speaker A: N6 knees Columbia. System2linkop.
Speaker C: Congratulations, Ken. That was Chronicle. I could even understand what that was all about. Good afternoon. C7GMD. I just got home from parking lot duty myself.
Speaker B: Larry. Anybody who has ever heard my ranting would know exactly what I was talking about. And there are definitely a small handful of folks on the Carla system here that would absolutely understand what I'm talking about. Anyways, I am not that kind of a person and I would never do that.
Speaker C: But. But.
Speaker B: In a very dark way, it's very satisfying and gratifying to know that I could do it, but I wouldn't. How are you doing?
Speaker C: I am fine. I agree with. Honey, you are a man of integrity. If I trusted you about every last word in my life. Doing fine, been fine, been a good day, had a couple of errands, Dr. Vision, all that kind of stuff. And just so all is good here. Life is good. All right.
Speaker B: And don't think that I haven't. Don't think that I have forgotten about you. I think. Think that some of your. Some of your stuff. We just need to go in and start over. The first round was a learning experience and the second round will definitely be better. So we need to fix a couple of your items. I was about to say that it
Speaker C: would be nice if get yourself another
Speaker B: laptop, but I don't think your laptop is the problem. I think.
Speaker C: I think it was.
Speaker B: I think it is me.
Speaker C: There's something going on with your stuff
Speaker B: that I don't understand. But slowly but surely, I'm sure it'll ring a bell in my head and
Speaker C: I will completely understand it. Well, it could be this Think Tab wannabe, but you know, it's okay. No, I know you haven't forgotten. Someone keep calling me on the phone so you could get me better answer to see who it is.
Speaker B: Okay.
Speaker A: Good to hear you.
Speaker B: I'll go back to my video here. Poculator ends 60.

Speaker A: I missed your call sign, but that's okay.
Speaker B: How you doing, Ken here, M6 kne. I'm sorry, I had to walk over and close my. My door here. I just turned on a little music for the pretty little woman. I apologize. What did you ask me?
Speaker C: No worries. Seems like a nice afternoon. I was just wondering if you were also on 1316, the vacuum, or if I'm connecting to you through a different day.
Speaker B: No, I'm coming in on the link. I'm coming in via All Star and believe it or not, I'm down here in Chinatown, Columbia, Columbia, South America.
Speaker C: Oh, very cool. Yeah, I've only recently started working out digital modes and playing around with DMR a little bit. Just working this computer analog in my car. Finally got the DHU up and running in my vehicle. It's a good time. Things are going well for you down south?
Speaker B: Yeah, everything's nice down here.
Speaker C: We got some thunder off in the
Speaker B: distance, some tropical storms. Sounds like they're blowing around us, not over us. I've got a bunch of plants hanging or off the hangers laying out in the yard hoping. Hoping it's going to rain so I don't have to go out there and water everything. But yeah, I may have to. I may have to go out there
Speaker C: and water the stuff.
Speaker B: So I apologize.
Speaker C: I would like to look yet you
Speaker B: said KO6 and then. What's the rest of your call sign?
Speaker C: This is Kilo Oscar Kilo Lima Delta klt. My name here is Luca. I'm a relatively new hemp team working with my general right now, so just learning the ropes and having fun on some local repeaters.
Speaker B: Okay. I believe I. I may have talked to you before.
Speaker C: You.
Speaker B: You sound
Speaker C: familiar.
Speaker B: Okay, Yeah, I just looked you up, Luca. Yeah, you know, I. After looking at this, I. I think I may have looked you up before or talked to you before. Dan Leandro. Yeah, I used to. To drive for a trucking company. 11 Western states. Used to spend quite a bit of time there in San Leandro at the FXI or the FOMEX company there. I think they're gone now.
Speaker C: But
Speaker B: yeah, I know Stan Leandro very well and I have to say I don't miss it.
Speaker C: Yeah, I'm in the process of getting ready to move down into the Santa Cruz Mountains. So I won't miss it either. I'm looking forward to being a little bit out of the city away, especially to now to Columbia, trying to make a better place. But. Yeah,
Speaker B: I didn't mean to say anything negative about your home city. There, but just the places that I had to. That I had to go into. Yeah. Especially if I had to spend enough out on the street in the sleeper of a truck, which is perfectly safe. But sometimes it would be a little noisy with racing and, you know, all that stuff that happens down there. All right. Yeah. Down here. Yeah. I'm 61 years old, and I'm blessed, and I've been able to retire a little bit early. And the wife and I, we retired down here to Columbia because she's from Columbia. We retired down here a little over a year ago. And we have. We have one season, basically. Not like. Not like you. You guys there in California house. I'm a transplant from Northern California, so I definitely had all four seasons. All right, Luca, good to hear you again. I know for sure I've talked to you before. Good to hear you again. And take care there in San Leandro. I'm assuming you're maybe going home for the. For the night or going to work for the night.
Speaker C: I'm actually transmitting. I'm transmitting up in Folsom, California, at the moment. I'm visiting my girlfriend's parents up here. Homer's Johnny Cash song, Folsom Prison. So I'm transmitting on a repeated effect here close to South Lake Tahoe and back to Villain, switching back and forth, seeing which one works best for us on the car windows. Right. Now that. Speaking of four seasons, they had 10ft of snow up here in Bolton recently in like three days. And then it all melted when it started raining, which is really strange. Winter early spring storm phenomenon. So now it's 70 degrees and sunny. But three weeks ago, you had come up here, it would have been pretty snowy. But it sounds like you're aiming for your next phase of your. Okay.
Speaker B: All right. Yeah. And if. If you're not aware of it, Inject Sky Warner alerts. So they're weather alerts, earthquake alerts. That's. And stuff. So you may have heard some of that. Yeah. I've been monitoring the Tahoe area, and I was. We all know about the avalanche that
Speaker C: took the lives of.
Speaker B: But eight people for sure. Right. Okay, Luca, you take care and good talking to you.
Speaker A: All right. If you mean Tahoe or say Tahoe, and I misunderstood.
Speaker C: I should have been more specific. There was like 10 foot of snow up in Pollock Pine, but not too far from here, but not.
Speaker A: That's a lot of snow, man. That's something that you, you know, see up. Up in that and on top of the Sierras. So, sure, we have some snow covered antennas up there and hopefully they're still working and not broken from high winds and ice loading and all that. So anyway. All right, thanks. Just wanted to clarify that because it didn't sound quite right, but anyhow. All right, have a good day. That'll be a beautiful one out here today. And six, McGuire.
