Okay, give me a second. I gotta go back and forth with my notes here. I think there's notes on the right side of the screen there behind the ruler thing in our notes for this site. So I'd be using that. It should not have changed, so unless you got them with you.

Oh, I forgot we have 758 on here. We're gonna get rid of that. We can use that number somewhere else.

Speaker A: Okay, here we've got the emphasis and pre-emphasis. So we need to set both those to no, and we'll give it a try. I think that's going to fix the problem. Is it? Is it one going one direction and one going the other direction? Is that how it's set up? Yeah, something like that. So, um, Jeff, let me do a reload here and then let us know if it sounds any different, and we'll let you know if you sound any different. Okay. All right, go ahead and give that a try. Let's see what happens. Oh, what happened? Oops, sorry, I didn't know you were ready already.
Speaker B: I thought I was waiting. All right, well, here's some audio if that's what you want. Give you an idea if anything's changed your direction or Tom's direction.
Speaker A: Doesn't sound like it's changed coming towards me. I don't know if you noticed the difference, Ken. And anything change going your direction, Jeff? You know, theoretically, either it's gonna get muddier, or I should say better, not so tinny, or something got even worse.
Speaker B: No, I think it's the same coming my way. Um, it has not changed coming my way, so I think that might be another setting, you know, one for him going, one for outgoing, that Ken would know. Um, but I'm, I'm sounding different to you, as in better?
Speaker A: Um, I don't know, I'm not really sure I could tell. There was a difference. You might have to toggle back and forth to see. I always thought it sounded pretty good going out your way, um, but it was like really like way Well, if you can't get that to work, you can theoretically pop open the COVID of the controller and remove the jumpers. That's the way to do it. Okay, how about now, Jeff? How do we sound?
Speaker B: I'm trying to decide if that sounds different. It's a little hot. But I wonder if the pinging has cleared up. Tom, give me a couple of counts.
Speaker A: Okay, couple of counts coming your way. 1, 2, 3, 3, 2, 1. Do things sound different to you? Over. Click.
Speaker B: Yeah, it's pretty close to the same. I think one thing, it might be a little bit hot. So we might want to turn it down slightly or something and try that.
Speaker A: And then I'm not sure how the high end is. It's still up there, I think. Okay, hold that, hold that thought. Let me try something here. N6KND testing, 12345, 54321. Audio level is normal. N6KND testing, 12345, 54321. 12345, 54321. Um, Jeff, go ahead and key up and give it a try. Go ahead and key up with me. N6KNE, go ahead, Jeff. Audio level is normal. Um, Jeff, go ahead and key up and give it a try. Go ahead and key up with me. N6KNE. Go ahead, Jeff. [FOREIGN LANGUAGE] Audio level is just about right. All right, uh, hang on a second. Let me look at one more thing here.

Ah, keep using the wrong one here.

2026-03-22 00:17:55 UTC 338.6s · GEARS W TX (146.115 MHz)

Speaker A: When it gives me my results, go ahead and key up and you give it a try. One second.
Speaker B: N6KND testing 12345-54321.
Speaker A: Audio level is normal. N6KND testing 12345-54321.
Speaker C: Audio level is normal. All right, I'll try it. N6GOP, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Speaker A: So it sounds like it's fine coming through the All-Star side, but you may have to make some adjustments on the repeater. Um, okay, I'm gonna— I'll go ahead and start working on this other stuff here, then I'm gonna have to go into Putty and, uh, I'll take a look at the, uh The USB settings there. So let me take a look at that, Jeff, before you do anything with the controller.
Speaker C: Yeah, okay. I did have one question for you. When you were editing this pre-emphasis and de-emphasis, you changed the yeses to nos. Is that the correct thing to do, or is that supposed to be set to yes and you comment it out, you comment out the line for a no? I'm not sure which way that goes.
Speaker A: That would be a mistake. Okay, well, good catch, and let me take a look. That would make all the difference in the world. The world. Yeah, I think it's half the hour over there, Jeff. No, I don't know what Jeff is looking at. See, I'm looking at it right now and it says the emphasis equals no and the emphasis equals yes. What were you looking at, Jeff?
Speaker C: Well, they were both yes, but see, some of those you can actually put in, uh, Hindi. They were both yes and you were changing them to no instead of uncommenting them, you know, putting a semicolon in front. And I'm not sure if— do they take no there? Yeses and nos? Well, they take yeses. I think that that's the default. But I don't know, do you leave— do you put a semicolon in front of those instead of a no? I'm not sure how it's— yeah, give it a try, yeah.
Speaker A: Yeah, they do take nos. So both those semicolons equals no. But just for craps and giggles, let's give it a try. N6KNE testing 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Speaker C: Yeah, no, no, that didn't make any difference. Okay, um, yeah, it's about the same ballpark.

2026-03-22 00:29:49 UTC 139.6s · GEARS W TX (146.115 MHz)

Speaker A: Yeah, okay. I do have one quick question for you. Yeah? Off the top of your head, do you know if the pre-emphasis jumpers inside the controller are in the front by the LEDs or in the back by the connectors?
Speaker B: Physically on the board? Uh, God, I want to say— I don't know, I really don't know. But I want to say it's broken up into 3 sections, right? Um, I think it's towards the back. From what I kind of remember, I want to say maybe it says "flat" or "normal" and then something else. Um, I don't remember if that's pre-emphasis or de-emphasis. Yeah, I— it's been a while. Yeah, okay.
Speaker A: It's easy to pull the controller like a third or halfway out and get to the front, but I think you may be right, they're along the back. I know there's a bunch of stuff along the back, but not everything, because they can't fit it all along the back. I'm just hoping that how much cable I have to pull it all the way out, we can figure that out, but if that becomes necessary, um, and still looking around See if there's anything, uh, popular you can do. Well, I got— okay, in that case, I'll let you go. We'll do whatever you were going to do. Thank you.

Um, Jeff, are you looking at the screen? Okay, so this RX boost right here is set to 0. 0 equals 20 dB attenuator inserted at 1. 1 equals 20 dB attenuator removed. It says set to 1 for additional gain is using a low-level receiver input. Does that, uh, does that ring a bell with any of your controller staff? Not really, but if it's zero, which it's set to, the attenuator is inserted, so it would be a little rather than high. So I don't think we want to adjust that, I would think. Okay, I just didn't know if you're— if there's The repeater controller was having to make some conversations there. Okay, let me look at my— go back to my notes here real quick.

Speaker A: Well, 3N64 is currently enabled right there. Yeah, I think we're going to have to make the changes here. Okay, try that again. I'm going to adjust the audio here. Give me a good 5 count.
Speaker B: Alrighty. 10-6-2-0-2. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Speaker A: Okay, we'll try it again.
Speaker B: Now only if I don't start coughing. N6QOC, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Speaker A: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. That's right, if you cough, you're not going to bother anybody. Okay, sorry, one more time.
Speaker B: Yep, all right, we're up to 650. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Speaker A: One of those. Okay, that sounds better. Let's make another adjustment here. Okay, that is preemphasizes [FOREIGN LANGUAGE] That only made about a 1,000% difference.
Speaker B: You're sounding really good right now. I think that was it right there on coming this way.
Speaker A: Okay, we just took care of your audio coming this way. Go ahead and give us a 5 count.
Speaker B: Yep, okay. And I think we just take care of your audio coming this way as well. That would be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Speaker A: Fantastic. Okay, let me check the audio level again. Yeah, that time the top end on you coming to me was—
Speaker B: Yes. Like a bit hot. But it, you know, still a big improvement.
Speaker A: Okay, I guess you're ready to try it again at 700. Yes.
Speaker B: Oh, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Speaker A: Okay, very good. You say I'm hot now?
Speaker B: I don't know, right there you sounded really good, but when you speak up a little bit more, um, then the, the, you know, like your audio chops off just a teensy bit at the top.
Speaker A: Okay, how about now? Testing 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Speaker B: Um, yeah, that actually is sounding very, very, very good. Big improvement. I don't have anything to compare it to, to tell whether or not your audio is about in the normal spot or too low or, you know, like that. But it's sounding really, really good.
Speaker A: Yeah, you sound fantastic right now. Okay, let me do another parrot. Testing the 3RWS. Audio level is a little higher than average. Testing the 3 RWJ. Testing N6KNE, Carla repeater site 7. N6KNE. Audio level is pretty good. Testing N6K N6KME, KLA repeater site 7. N6KME.
Speaker B: Alright, now let me give it a try. N6QOP testing KLA 7. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Speaker A: Audio level is normal.
Speaker B: Alright, now let me give it a try. N6QOP testing KLA 7. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Okay, well, I like it.
Speaker A: Yeah, I'm gonna call that a big win. What do you think? Um, let's see, what else? There's something else here.
Speaker B: I haven't heard the time, but did we turn that one off? Was it gone, Chad?
Speaker A: I'm going to do that right now.
Speaker B: You know, that's a bit confusing, isn't it? Ah, yes, now I see it.
Speaker A: Somehow the screen was chopped. Okay, let me look at my notes. I think there was one more thing. Okay, these, uh, no ID. Okay, we took that. Disable courtesy tone. Okay, we took care of that. The deployment options. Alt switch to Raspberry Pi enabler. Yes, it does. I don't know what that was all about. Oh, change this on 1 and needs to be changed on 7. Okay, so we change this on 1. Where— why are we changing this and where is it? Optional hope switch. I don't even know where that is. Does that make any sense to you?
Speaker B: I was messing on the screen here.
Speaker A: What's that? I think we're good. Let me check your notes here one more time, make sure we're not missing something.

The 3Y 0K D Expedition to Bouvet island in the South Atlantic Ocean is done and according to the team was a great success. A report on their Facebook page stated the whole 3y0k team is safely back on the vessel after a successful expedition to Bouvet. We made more than 100,000 contacts and achieved our goals. It was an extraordinary undertaking involving years of planning, complex logistics and determination needed to succeed. The team worked well together under harsh conditions, cold snow and severe wind. BU is known for its remoteness and unpredictable weather and while it is a beautiful island, any attempt going on shore involves risk. Despite all the challenges we encountered, the team stayed focused on our goals determined and the result is due to real teamwork. We had been working with professional expedition guides, pilots, crew and vessel along with our off island support team who all contributed to our success. End quote. Speaker A: System 11, link up. And 6 kilo B, 5, 6, 7, 8.
Speaker B: 6 kilo Bravo Hotel.
Speaker A: System 2, link up. All I heard was Kilo Bravo Hotel, so you need to load out on the key up there and give us some space. So I'm going to go ahead and whatever. Kilo Bravo Hotel, station ending.
Speaker B: Roger that. Kilo Oscar 6, Kilo Bravo Hotel, how you doing tonight?
Speaker A: I am, uh, doing okay. How about you?
Speaker B: Yeah, I'm doing all right. I just, uh, threw a Slim Jim off a deck in Berkeley Hills and punched it into a, uh, bow fang. So, uh, I heard someone key up this repeater. I thought I'd, uh, give it a shot. How you doing?
Speaker A: I already asked you that. Yeah. Okay, when you said Slim Jim, I thought maybe, uh, Slim Jim, uh, breaking into cars or something. I think, what, why are you doing that? All right, he seems to be getting in okay into, uh, San Francisco machine there.
Speaker B: Yeah, very cool. I, I, I don't know, know that I've ever, uh, used this repeater. I'm, I'm normally up in Sacramento, uh, but I'm down at my brother-in-law's house and he lives in Berkeley and I brought, uh, Uh, eslim jim. Not the one I used to use to break into cars when I was young.
Speaker A: Those days are behind me, okay?
Speaker B: Thank you very much. Just kidding, just kidding. But yeah, great to hear someone on this repeater. Does, uh, does it get much action down here?
Speaker A: Uh, not too much. It's generally a quiet system, but that's by design. We do have, you know, they're all tied together and we do have coverage out in the Sac Valley as well. But actually, you know, that's Carla 2, which was basically the flagship system there that started it all. So it's the oldest, I guess.
Speaker B: How many years?
Speaker A: I don't know.
Speaker B: Somewhere in the mid-'80s.
Speaker A: Yeah, roughly.
Speaker B: Oh, very cool, very cool little history on this thing. Um, I'm a, you know, I just got licensed in July, so, um, still working, still working on, uh, picking up all the, all the lingo, all the technologies. Um, you know, it's, it's, uh, really interesting to hear how it all came about, how big Things have changed in the past, uh, past years or so.
Speaker A: Oh yeah, a lot has changed and, uh, some for the better, some for the worse. But I guess it is what it is. All right, I need to move on. I gotta also see if I can get a hold of somebody real quick and check out. So yeah, and here's Tom and Nicole again. They said they're just excited to speak to you, Franklin. Thank you. Thank you. All right, Tom, let me make sure I got that call right.

Speaker A: Yeah, K9KADN6GRG, don't change, change a thing right now, but I just wanted to let you know you're actually on local, so you're only going out over 36.
Speaker B: Okay, I think I'm understanding what you're trying to convey. I was hoping or I was thinking I'm on the local repeater out of Stony Ford, California. I'm not on the, um, Carla system per se. I have the local PL programmed into my radio. I'm not on All-Star. I never set it up. So what is your location?
Speaker A: Well, I'm near Redding, and by local what I mean is just that, that you're only kind of going out over Stonyford and not getting into the rest of the link system. I guess maybe that's what you intended, but I wasn't sure because the fellows that I thought you were calling were definitely on the link.
Speaker B: Okay, thank you for clearing that up. Yeah, two points. I, I did want to, and I do want to stay local. I'm up in Manton in the foothills. You should probably know where that is. I look down on Redding. Are you the gentleman that said he's just recently licensed? That's who I was reaching out to just to say hello.

Speaker A: Yeah, I guess I'm not getting out.
Speaker B: I was going to say, hey, why don't you try that—
Speaker C: K9KADN6GRG, yeah, that conversation I went over the top of was on a link and I had to change radios. That's why I hope I'm coming in okay.
Speaker A: Yeah, affirmative, you're coming in 5-9, as they say, on high frequency. Um, yeah, long delay. I thought for some reason I wasn't getting out, and then somebody else jumped in. Um, I'm kind of a newbie, excuse me. I don't know how all the technology works per se, even though I have a bunch of radios, but I hear, um, guys on All-Star and, uh, I guess Carla and local repeaters all the time, and Uh, there's an all-star net every morning at 7:30 to 10. The guy that controls that down in Auburn, and he gets calls from all over the United States. And then I chipped in one day when it was snowing a couple weeks ago, and everybody heard me, or at least the guy down in Auburn, the net control guy. He's on 7 days a week. They heard me perfectly. So I'm not dialing into any particular system on this repeater. I wanted to stay local, Stony Ford, but you're coming in perfectly out of Redding. I'm up in the foothills overlooking Redding.
Speaker C: Yeah, we talked before, um, you're the only Manson, um, person I know, and I've got that photo I was supposed to send you of the guys working on the water supply in Manton.
Speaker B: And I haven't—
Speaker C: I dropped the ball so far because I haven't quite gotten it over to you, but, um, that is my plan. So, uh, anyway, uh, yeah, uh, there's, uh All-Star on the Carlos system on the link side. And then I'm familiar with that, uh, uh, system you're talking about. That's where, uh, that GRC repeater links the Sierra Foothills repeater. But long, uh, conversation over there.
Speaker B: Comet. KN6SLN, Mike, you guys copy?
Speaker C: Yeah, go ahead, John.
Speaker B: And, uh, I didn't catch the other gentleman's name there, but the net he's talking about there, I believe, is the same one I was talking about this morning. And that repeater is out either out of Orland or, um, it's up in the hills from Orland. I talked to him today, I checked in, and, um, the net control is out of Auburn, and he's on there every morning at 7 o'clock, or, uh, 7 days a week. So, uh, I just wanted to say that I did find out that that was hooked up to, uh, Portland. Thank you for that.
Speaker C: Yeah, you know, that's what I thought also. Uh, that's what it says online, that it's going through Portland, but I talked to Steve and he said that 105 is coming out of St. John's.
Speaker B: And from what I'm seeing of the signal strength, I'm kind of thinking that might be the case.
Speaker C: So there might be a little bit of a problem with the information online, but it's not important. Uh, we are talking about the same signal, that's for sure.
Speaker A: Yeah, K9KAD here. I have it written down as Elk Creek, which I think is in in the foothills above Orlan. It could just be Orlan. I don't have their frequency on hand. I'd have to check my radio. But yeah, they're on every morning from 7:30 to 10. It's not a real structured— even though they have a call-in like a regular net, you could just chip in and start talking. And yesterday I was driving down to Sacramento and I had them on my handheld HT in my radio, and they had their 16-year anniversary yesterday to the day of its operation. So it's called the Coffee Break Net. Every morning at 7:30, two guys, Brian and Tom, out of the Auburn area, are the net control guys. They're real, real chill, real mellow, and it's every day, 7:30 to 10. So I kind of listen in. It's kind of like listening to the old AM radio when we used to Listen to that.
Speaker C: Yeah, so let me see if I've got it. Okay, and John, we didn't hear what you said because— and, and right after I'm done, you can say what you were trying to say again. But, um, the fact that K9KAD, the fact that you could hear it all the way to Sacramento, that solidified my opinion that that is actually coming out of St. John, just like Steve says. So yeah, that's where I'm gonna stay, is that's coming out of St. John, which is kind of near Willows. Elk Creek, yeah, yeah, it's kind of close to Elk Creek and/or Willows.
Speaker B: Thank you, Big John.
Speaker C: What were you going to say there?
Speaker B: No, that's, that's what I was going to say, is down that area is not necessarily in Portland, it's back up in the hills like this repeater we're talking about right now. It's back up the hill somewhere.
Speaker C: I'm not sure, it could be St.
Speaker B: John's, I don't know. But, um, he did, uh, say that, uh, I was hitting it up here, uh, through that repeater down there. Um, that's that 105 repeater. Um, so, but I mean, that's, that's all I really know. I didn't really question him a whole lot, but it is the coffee break, uh, uh, net every morning there, like this hill must sit there. So I'll let you guys get back at it.
Speaker A: K9KAD, just one clarification. I wasn't able to hear them all the way to Sacramento. That was my trip from Shasta County to Sacramento, but I was just on my HT with no exterior antenna, just a rubber duck. And, uh, as I was traveling through the Central Valley area, I caught the— I knew it was going to be on because I've been listening to them for months, so Yeah, I can hear them 100% from my base station here up in Matton. I usually check in every morning, or actually I just listen, and it's kind of, kind of, kind of nice once you get used to it all. But I just thought I'd throw my two cents in and jump on the repeater tonight, the Stony Ford repeater, and say hello.
Speaker C: K9KAD. Well, uh, N6GRG, I wanted to throw out a little more information because I've actually got the website up that might— see, the guy that, the guy that's listed as the, uh, for the call letters, I would imagine, imagine he's also the owner of these repeaters, but I don't know. But anyway, it's W6TRC, and that's his name is Gary, we've known each other for quite a while, uh, and, uh, he's spread out quite a bit. So now there's also a repeater 145.41 with a PL of 123 and another one 146.85 with a PL of 110, and one of those 2 I may be able to reach with my portable, uh, with good signal quality from here. It just depends on whether they're linked up. I know the 105 is linked up for the CoffeeNet. Whether those other 2 are also linked up, I can't tell you at this point, but it'd be easy enough to figure it out. Uh, maybe I'll find out. Well, is it I guess that coffee net's on every day, so maybe. So anyway, uh, John, you still there? Is it on every day?
Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, it's on. Um, it's all— that's what I was talking to you about this morning. Um, yeah, it's on every, every morning, and like the gentleman said, I guess it's, uh, 7:30 to 10, I believe. I believe it is. And they, uh, that controller also told me that, uh, I told him, I said, well, you know, I, I really enjoyed it myself. And, uh, I told him I'd be back, you know, and check in and stuff. And he said there's also other stuff that they're putting on that same frequency there, uh, all through the day. Now I've been monitoring it, I didn't hear anything yet.
Speaker C: Okay, um, yeah, I didn't hear much after the net was over, and I've had it just sitting there on that frequency all along. It may not have been on that frequency, I don't know, but I haven't been able to listen quite as much as I would have liked because I've been kind of busy But, um, like I say, you know, for us, the, uh, 145.41 or the 146.85 might even come in stronger than the, uh, 147.105. I don't know, it'd be worth listening to them.
Speaker A: K9KAD, I have some contribution. What I, what I got programmed is the 147.105 and with a PL of 110.9. I don't have those other frequencies, I wasn't aware of them. Just the 147.105 and it's really, really, really clear. So I'm I have all my HT also, but that's what I got on my, uh, base station here up in Madden.
Speaker C: Okay, was there somebody else want to get in there? And it's just TRG. So, uh, yeah, since we, we now do think that the 147.105 is on St. John, um, based on what several people are saying, one of these two other repeaters may be on Red Mountain, like it says. And what I've got to do is try, try them because I believe Red Mountain signals will come in with just a portable from here pretty strong. Where, uh, the 147.105 sounds to me like it is on St. John, it just doesn't quite— I can't quite make it in on a portable.
Speaker B: Yeah, comment there, Mike. Um, this is KN6SLN. I, I programmed that in years ago, a couple years ago, that same repeater with the same PL. And I believe Steve gave Jerry's net, I believe was using that, and then they moved to that 410. And that's how I, I found it, is because I was scanning all the frequencies on my radio when I got back and it came up. Now, wow, where'd this come from? But anyway, I enjoyed it this morning, so I mean, there you go.
Speaker C: Okay, yeah, well, they're all owned by the same guy, uh, according to, uh, if you go by the call letter, call letters, uh, got Uh, Gary W6GR. Huh, I think it's two different call sets of call letters. Okay, actually it's not the same call letters when I look at it closely. One is GRC and the other is RHC, so they are not the same FCC call letters after all.
Speaker B: Yeah, um, the other gentleman that was talking there, I'm sure you can hear me. Uh, you're down in Manton, is that correct?
Speaker A: Affirmative. Excuse me, K9KAD. I listen to it, uh, on the 147.105 from my base station, 50 watts with a rooftop antenna. It comes in as clear as they were sitting right next to me in my Radio Shack. Excuse me. I rarely use my HT at home, but as I said earlier tonight on this conversation. I had to go out of town, unfortunately, down to Roseville actually, and I brought my HT with no rooftop antenna inside my vehicle with just a rubber duck antenna. And, uh, as I was traveling, you know, past Chico and past the Sutter Buttes and down in that area— nobody cares to break net. I knew it was going to be on So anyway, I had my, uh, my HT, my handheld transceiver, my walkie-talkie scanning, uh, my pre-programmed scan channels, and it landed on the Coffee Break net. I have it listed as Elk Creek. I mean, I guess there are different ways to list it. I have it programmed in with those words, Elk Creek. But in any event, I could hear them, uh, Pretty good. You know, it wasn't 100% as good, but I don't know how much, how many watts my HT has, maybe 5 watts and a crappy antenna or crummy, uh, because it was just inside my vehicle, rubber duck, no, no external antenna. If I had an external antenna, mag mount or something, it probably would have come in crystal clear. But yeah, K9KAD in Madden.
Speaker B: Yeah, no, I was, I, I just first time I've heard you on here. Of course, I've been gone for about 3 months. Um, my name is John. I, I live up here in Mineral.
Speaker A: Yeah, nobody cares.
Speaker B: So I know I hit you, uh, uh, thin flakes there. But, uh, anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself to you. Um, and like I said, apparently you've been on the radio for quite a while, so Anyway, okay, thanks, John.
Speaker A: Nice to meet you. Where are you physically located? I didn't catch that.
Speaker B: Okay, I'm up the hill. Uh, you're on— you're over there, Manton. Okay, we're up here at Mineral on 36, uh, 36 and 172.
Speaker A: Oh, of course, sure, I know where Mineral is. Did you, did you get involved in that fire we had, what, 2 years ago with that fool from, uh, Bidwell Park?
Speaker B: Yeah, I was in Oklahoma at the time, and, uh, uh, they had about 3 or 4 dozers up the street from me and, uh, had, uh, fire hose and they actually made a line right there at 36 and charged everything pink and they were hoping it wasn't going to get over here to us. It was in the meadow, so yeah, that was a pretty rough little fire there, but yeah, we survived it very good and right now it's almost like summertime up here.
Speaker A: Affirmative, affirmative. We've been in— so, uh, it's funny, we had— uh, I only caught about 2 or 3 inches down here in Matton. Shingletown got a little more. They're right above me. But, um, I hope we get at least one or two more rain events. Um, excuse me, but you know, you take what you can get.
Speaker B: Yeah, that's correct. Well, I'll let you get back to talking, Mike. I just wanted to introduce myself to you. I'll hear you all day. I'm on here all the time, basically. Um, you know, off and on I do support sometimes. But anyway, we'll talk to you later there. And, uh, just be KFC, that's the way. Yeah, good talking to you too, N6GRG, a little west of Reading. See you guys later.
Speaker A: K9KAD, clear the frequency. Wadi Karras.

All this and more as Amateur radio newsline report number 2525 comes your way right now from around the world. This is Newsline, Amateur Radio's first independent on the air News and Bulletin service. Now reporting from Wadsworth, Ohio, here's Stephen Kinford in awb. If you were one of the lucky ones to contact 3Y 0K on Boo Bay island, our lead story is for you. Ralph Swillacci, KK6ITV tells us more. The 3Y 0K D Expedition to Bouvet island in the South Atlantic Ocean is done and according to the team was a great success. A report on their Facebook page stated the whole 3y0k team is safely back on the vessel after a successful expedition to Buvey. We made more than 100,000 contacts and achieved our goals. It was an extraordinary undertaking involving years of planning, complex logistics and determination needed to succeed. The team worked well together under harsh conditions, cold snow and severe wind. Bouvet is known for its remoteness and unpredictable weather and while it is a beautiful island, any attempt going onshore involves a risk. Despite all the challenges we encountered, the team stayed focused focused on our goals, determined and the result is due to real teamwork. We have been working with professional expedition guides, pilots, crew and vessel along with our off island support team who all contributed to our success. End quote. According to the team, logs will soon be available in oqrs. If you wish to check you made a valid contact but want to verify, you can search the logs at the link in the text version of this Week's newscast@arnewsline.org the group's next target is, according to them, another icy rock in the Antarctic Ocean. I've got to wait one more minute and then I'm going to grab a radio. Not sure which one yet. I'll be able to talk to you while I'm walking.
Speaker B: I use WWV to time, uh, to time video stuff. Are you familiar with WWV? Go, John.
Speaker A: Uh, yeah, are you there? Yeah, this is K6SOS. Yeah, I told you I was using WWB to time my digital stuff. Uh, I don't understand. And then I asked you if you knew what WWV was. Oh, I didn't hear that. No, I don't know what it is. I'm completely in the dark. Well, WWV is basically a clock that's on HF. Oh, like I said, I'm completely in the dark. Uh, uh, How would I get it? I mean, I don't understand. You'd either tune to 5 MHz, 10 MHz, 15 MHz, 20 MHz, or 25 MHz, and it's right there. Okay, all I've got is, uh, 10 meter up. Can I do it on that? You might be able to hear like 20 MHz or 25 MHz. It's exactly on the frequencies I'm telling you. Yeah, I'll have to hear it. Let me, uh, I, I, I don't— like I said, I didn't hear you, uh, say anything like that, but, uh, yeah, I don't know. Well, now you know. So anyway, so you're gonna take the dog for a walk? Yeah, and I'm just grabbing a radio that I might be— that I might be able to use. And it's got a big long antenna on it, and, uh, I have to put a frequency in it, put that frequency in it. Yeah, that's all right. Well, I'll just catch up with you later on. So, uh, I'm just sitting here. I was going to ask you if you Did you hear that, Seth? It's still— it's on until 10 o'clock. Um, I don't know, uh, like you said yesterday, I don't know if you can make it or not, but, uh, yeah, they're, uh, they're having it every day. Yeah, um, yeah, and I had— why don't we go over to 58?
