He was a member of the North Hills Radio Club and we're trying to connect him through with the digital nets that they're doing on a Sunday night. Call signs WA7 spy named Lynn A73 KD6LOK. Hey, good to hear from you, Doug. And yeah, WA7 spy. Glenn is our club trustee. So good to hear he's making connections up there. And by the way, it's been wet down here too. Katie I'm sorry. Before we start the roundtable, would anyone else like to check in? Okay, nothing heard. It's time for the roundtable. First up is KN6PWW. Jamie and Chico, that's me, your net control for this evening. Not a lot to talk about today. Took my HT with me up, honey. Run a little ways on my bicycle, but didn't make any, any contacts. Next up is Jim, k6est. Hey Jamie, thanks for doing the net. I really don't have much to add. I've just been kind of chilling lately. Looking forward to some of the events coming up next month. Back to you. Thanks, Jim. And before we carry on with the, with the roundtable, I forgot I do have an announcement. Remember all of you that the Gears Weekly net will be switching to the Gears west repeater next week. The Gears west repeater should give us a little bit more coverage for members that are in an awkward spot that don't quite have line of sight up the canyon to the Forest Ranch repeater next week. Adjust all your radio goes to Gears West. That is my big announcement. So moving along, let me see. I think Lester was in and out, but I'll. Next is Larry KF6NCX. What's going on Larry? Good evening Jamie and and the Net. This is Larry, KF6NCX. Well I've got a couple of things. We've had this slow speed CW net going for maybe about a year now and it's going pretty good. We've got half a dozen regular people that take part one down in Southern California near the, near the bottom of the state and, and we've got our former Gears president Larry Markham up on the Oregon coast and a couple of guys in Idaho and a couple of other guys in Northern California. But lately we've been having propagation problems where not everyone can hear everyone else. And apparently it's because just the season is changing and, and sunset and darkness are getting further away from when we've been holding the net at 3:30 in the afternoon. So we've decided to change the time of the net to 5pm it will still be on the same frequency, 7052 on 40 meters but it will be starting this Thursday at 5pm and instead of 330 and hopefully that will solve our propagation problem. Let me stop for a second here. Hello. It's always funny when that says hello. Kind of peculiar. The other thing is I wanted to mention is the ARRL is having this special event going on all month for in connection with celebrating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. And as part of that, well the special event they're inviting people from the various call areas to use the W1 awesome call sign and get on the air. So this coming week is California's turn to take a week and some California they're asking California operators to sign up. If you're an ARRL member you must have gotten an email about it and you might consider it. I signed up for a couple shifts so I'm going to be at from 1 to 2 tomorrow. I'll be on the 20 meter CW band using W1 AW6 calling CQ and working whoever calls me and then again on Friday from 2 to 3pm the same thing. So if you have a chance and, and can get on, give me a call. Okay, that's about it. Jamie, back to you. This is Larry, KF6NCX. Hey Larry, good on you for picking up a couple of shifts there. You said 20 meters. Do you have a particular frequency target? And you said CW as well so I assume it's the low end of the band. Yeah, I'm not sure exactly. Probably somewhere like 14030 to 14042 something, something in that area you should be able to pick me up. Okay. And, and listen for other guys on, on the air. It's going to be all modes like single side band and FT8. You might find these, these guys operating this this week from California and then the rest of the month other, other areas, other call areas. So listen for them. Okay, back to you Jamie. All right, thanks for that Larry. Next up, Let me see Katie6lok. Doug, I got you checked in. Still there Doug? Still here but I should have said I'll be in and out. But yeah, kind of push that C4FM actually they're doing on a Sunday night at 8pm they're doing both D Star and C4FM digital nets. And fortunately with my altitude I'm able to contact them down there and erode some of them down there in the Roseville area with my C4FM. And it's all Simplex. So it's kind of been really been kind of exciting. I think we're coming up on week 13 so it's been good. And, and Glenn is evidently going to put up a beam so he can try to talk to him also from down there from, from Chico down to roseville area there. Seven three, all KD6 lok. Hey Doug, I'm not going to let you get away quite that easy. You got frequencies and times for us? Yeah, they start actually at 8 o' clock on the North Hills Radio Club bosom repeater at 145.190 with a minus and a PL of 162 and then they go over to DSTAR and C4FM and the frequencies there is 2 meter 144 the 145670 and 445670 rotating weekends, rotating Sunday. So it's, it's been an exciting thing for me. Anyway. Thanks for that Doug. Appreciate the heads up. And since you said that Simplex, I won't ask you for, for tones or, or offsets on those. Well done. Let me see, next up how about KC6UFE bill, C6UFE bill and CAPE. And good evening to the group. We're having a little weather this evening so apparently there's some lightning with this one. So just you know, if you start hearing it, you know what to do. And let's see what else. There was a solar flare Sunday night about 8:30pm it was a X 1.5 class flare, almost pointed right at us so just a little off to the side. But it did create quite the coronal mass ejection headed our Way supposed to come rolling in anytime now, all through tomorrow and coincidentally NASA's going on a joyride out to the moon and back. So they may experience some after effects from that cme. So might be in the news, might not. Anyway, interesting stuff. And also I noticed that the 440 repeater that we have, the club has for me anyway, the power is way down. I'm usually running up around 30 over 9 or so. Now I'm about S7, S8 and so I've been fiddling around make sure my antenna is okay and it's, it's a little homebrew gizmo. So I wanted to look into upgrading the antenna and most of the antennas are 2 meter 440 duallys and they're a little pricey. So I did find a guy on ebay making a 440 ground plane for 35 bucks. So if anybody's interested, there's a good deal right there on ebay, so not much else for me. So back to net KC6 USC. Hey Bill, thanks for that. You know, I haven't looked in on the 440 repeater for a little while, so maybe I'll, maybe I'll take a quick look at that. I've got a dual band J pole here. It works real well. So yeah, maybe I'll give that a try later this evening after the GMRS net that I'm on next and you know, just see if it's a repeater issue. You really think it's your antenna? I don't know. I'm not sure. I've seen this fluctuate before, but this time it seems persistent. And you know, there's been some wind and apparently the antenna is not the most stable antenna up there on the hill. So who knows, maybe it's laying on the ground, I don't know. But my antenna just kind of sits there, doesn't do anything so doesn't seem to be a problem on my end. So. But anyway I wanted to upgrade anyway, so back to you, Jamie Casey, six ufe. All right, thanks Bill. Let me see that Is that is.
The list as I have it. So are there any other additional comments or questions before we close tonight? So we heard tonight that there's, let me see, we got a digital net. Larry's got some interesting C stuff going on W1. Aw we got maybe the 440 repeater might be having some issues. We got the slow speed CW nets moving to 5pm on Thursday night. I think I got that. So yeah, stuff going on in the, in the club as well as our move next week to the Gears west record. Peter. Remember that guys. So if there are no other comments this conclude I'll ask one more time. Any other comments out there? Six pju. Dennis checking in. All right, Dennis, got you checked in. Any comments for the net out of town weeks if I don't check in. Well, appreciate you checking in. You're bouncing in and out there just a little bit, but just about copyable. Any other last minute comments for the net? Okay. This concludes this week's Golden Empire Amateur Radio Society Club Net. Thank you to everyone who checked in tonight and you're all invited back next week along with all your friends. This is KN6PWW returning the W6RHC repeater to its normal monitoring service. This net is closed at 195273 to all. KN6PWW is clear. Good day.
