Speaker A: Keel, India 6 here. Mike November doing a radio test. Anybody on frequency, please come back. N6j o a k i6 smn. Weak but usable if I work hard at it.
Speaker B: All right.
Speaker A: Might have improved a little bit, but then sort of toward the end of the transmission faded somewhat and there's the. I presume it's pave paws popcorn in there, but I can hear you. So thanks for verifying that my radio is working and I didn't have any of that cutting in and out like I was having last week. And hopefully that'll prevail in about 45 minutes when we do the Gar's net.
Speaker B: Okay.
Speaker A: Okay. I didn't get too much of that one. It's sort of was almost like down in the weeds, but it's not. With the cracking that was in there, had difficulty. But I think you were just saying that you were happy to try to facilitate and help me know that the radio was working. And 73 from KI6SMN to N6JOA. And I'll be clear on your final. All right, 73. Bill. I copied all that shortly.

This is Kilo Charlie 6, Uniform, India, Sierra, the net control for the Garrison net, which will be starting in approximately 10 minutes. Hey, Bob, this is AF608, copy. Gotcha. Ian, can you give me an early check in, please? I'm pulling into fuel station and I. I don't think I'm going to be getting out. No problem. Got you in there. Thank you for the effort. Okay, thanks. Have a good.

Speaker A: CQ gars. CQ gars. CQ gars. This is KILO Charlie Six. Uniform Indy is here and I'm located in Elk Creek and I'll be your Net control station tonight for the GARS Monday night Net. This net meets every Monday evening at 2000 hours local time using the W6GRC repeater. Tonight this is directed Net. Please make no transmissions unless cleared by Net Control. When checking in, please give your call name, signal report and if you have any traffic for the Net or wish to be included in the talkback segment. Net Control has no announcements tonight. Are there any other stations with announcements? Come now.
Speaker B: Kilo86 Sierra Mike November.
Speaker A: Go ahead, Phil.
Speaker B: Most of you received an email today from kf6obi about something I'm doing in Hamilton City on Wednesday. Going to take the disaster trailer to Hamilton City High School and speak with their physics class about the how does radio work? And as part of that would like to have some Q sounds on two meters with whoever would be tuned in either on the AF6OA repeater or on this GRC repeater. Back to net. This is KI6SMN.
Speaker A: Would anybody like to respond to. Phil, go, go. Well, Phil, I didn't hear anything. I was thinking about that Wednesday is my golf day and I was going. Usually I don't get off the course until about 12:30 or so. So if I was to get up there a little late, would that help?
Speaker B: The class runs from 12:30 till I think 1:20 or something like that. I'm going to be doing some presentation sorts of stuff at the beginning and the radio part would, the actual on the air part would be probably somewhere right around one, maybe a little bit after one o'.
Speaker C: Clock.
Speaker A: Okay, well I could make my way up there and help you out. I'm not sure where to go. Can you give an address or something?
Speaker B: Well, if you want to, that's fine, but the primary thing would just be at, at your radio either in the car, at home, QTH and. But if any of you come to the, to the site itself, it's Hamilton High School, which is right there at that stop in Hamilton City. It's right there to your left of the stoplight.
Speaker A: Oh, okay. I didn't understand. Yeah, at the QTH works good for me. I will monitor this frequency when I get home. Will that work for you?
Speaker B: That would be fine. We'll put a call to see what stations might be available and just sort of see where the communications goes. Depending on time availability may set up also HF capability and See if propagation's working that day as well.
Speaker A: Sounds good. Okay, I will be on this frequency when I get home. Probably closer to 1 o'. Clock. Very good. Okay, appreciate that.
Speaker B: And any other stations, give it some thoughts. Don't need to have an answer right now, but would be helpful to know that by Wednesday morning if people are able to be available to have some QSOs on at least on 2 meters. So this is KI6SMN.
Speaker A: All right, KC6UIs. Let's continue on with regular member roll call. Let's see, let's go to Alpha, Echo6, Zulu, Chris and Chico. Alpha, Foxtrot, Six, Oscar, Alpha, Ian and Cape. Was an early check in and we got him, but he couldn't join us tonight. So let's continue to Alpha, Golf 6, Victor, Alpha, Ryan and Willows. Alpha, Golf 6, Victor, alpha, Ryan and Willows. You were Q5 through the repeater to me. Don't really have any traffic for the net, but, yeah, I'm working from home right next to my radio here. So I can turn it on and probably monitor both of those repeaters. So you can show the high school kids how radio works. Or at least how it works in certain circumstances. Anyway, back to nat. All right, Ryan, well, thank you for that and I'm sure Phil was monitoring. And so we'll both be there for you, Phil. And well, good luck tomorrow. I mean, Wednesday. Okay, next on my list, Alpha, Kilo 6, Juliet, November, Joe N. Williams. Thank a 6Jn, Joe and Williams. Yeah, I will also be available on Wednesday. Can do both 2 meter and HF. Just let me know with frequencies and should be available during for most of the time. AK6chan back to net control. Okay, Joe, I'm sure that Phil copied that. And I think it looks like we're gonna start out on. On this frequency and we'll go from there. All right, regular Roll call continues. Kilo 6, call Charlie, Foxtrot, Papa Pat in Chico, Kilo 6, gulf, alpha, bravo, greg and chico, Kilo6, kilo, charlie6, uniform, foxtrot, echo, bill and capay.
Speaker C: Kilo, charlie6, uniform, Foxtrotic, o' Bill and Capay. Boy, that's a real mouthful today. Check me in. Put me on the list. Your Q5.
Speaker A: Well, I'm glad it wasn't only me that was stumbling around on that one tonight. I don't know. That's kind of funny, isn't it? Okay, I got you marked down, bill. And let's see, next is kilo, echo six, papa mike, tango, russ and gerber. Kilo 5 shot 6, astro, bravo, india, michael in willows,
Speaker D: Kilo, Foxtrot 6, Oscar, Bravo, India, Mike and Willows. Thank you, Bob, for doing the net tonight. You're doing an awesome job and I really have no traffic for the net this evening, but I want to Wish everybody blessings. KF6 Obi, back to net control.
Speaker A: Well, thank you, Mike. God knows we need them. All right, very good. Let's see, where am I here? Kilo Charlie 6 or Kilo Golf 6? Kilo, Uniform, Oscar, Lester in Willows,
Speaker C: Kilo
Speaker A: Golf 6, Kilo Unit, Oscar, Lester and Wills. And I'll be in and out tonight. But if you would ask Mike if he wants an early check in on the other one. I appreciate that, Mike. Lester want to know if you wanted an early check in on the other one.
Speaker D: Yes, Lester, please check me in early with no traffic to the Sacramento Valley traffic net. Thank you very much.
Speaker A: Okay, copy that, KG6K U clear. All right, this is KC6UIS. Call and roll. And we're down to Kilo 1A6, Sierra, Mike, November, Phil and Willows.
Speaker B: Excuse me, Kilo, India, Six, Sierra, Mike, no member. Phil here in Willows. Q5 coming in through the 857 remotely located at the QTH of KF6 Obi. You're sounding good and thanks for doing the net. I'll be back. But nothing else tonight.
Speaker A: All right, Phil, real good. I want to give you a Q4. Plus, it's just a little broken up every once in a while, but signal is totally readable and no problem. How about kk6 foxtrot, november, yankee, courtney and willows, kk6fny, courtney and willows checking in and out tonight. Your q5. Thank you, courtney, your beautiful q5 as usual. Thank you. How about kilo, mike six, victor, foxtrot, foxtrot, hank in elk, rico. Hank surprised me tonight. No surprises for Mike. Continuing on kilo, November 6, Mike, golf, kilo, Steve in Chico. I think steve has given up on us. And let's go to kilo. November six, papa, whiskey, whiskey, jeremy and chico. Or jamie and chico. Sorry, Kilo. November 6th, Sierra, Julia, Julia, Dennis and Corning. Kilo, November 6th, whiskey, Sierra, November, Logan in Willows, kilo, November 6th, whiskey, sierra,
Speaker D: November, Logan and Willows checking in and out.
Speaker A: Thank you, Logan, for your check in. You are Q5 tonight into the repeater. Sounding good as always. November 6, uniform, tango, victor, tyler in alberta. Whiskey 6, lima, november, delta, jeremy in orlando. Whiskey, bravo, one, golf, any in rockland. Well, that completes the regular roll call. As I have it. Are there any later missed members to check in? Come now, Kilo.
Speaker D: November 6th. I'm sorry, kilo after 6. November Charlie, India. I'm sorry, I had a brain fart there. This is Chris and Chico. No traffic to report and just for the log. Thank you,
Speaker A: Chris, give me that call again. I was looking for you on my list here and I couldn't match you up.
Speaker D: Yes, Kilo Oscar 6, November Charlie India. And I'm not sure if I was added to the list or not. I'm pretty new. But I've checked in a few times here.
Speaker A: Okay, Chris. Yeah, that was my problem here. Funny, I have a Chris from Chico on my list and I was going, wait a minute, did he change his call sign? But yeah, I will talk to Mike and it's about time we updated our roll call anyway. And we'll be sure and get you on the regular list. And thank you for your check in. You are Q5 into this repeater tonight.
Speaker D: Thanks so much. Appreciate it, you guys. Hope everybody's having a good night.
Speaker A: All right, any other lighter miss members come now. Any guest stations like to check into the guards net tonight? Come now.
Speaker C: November 6, Juliet, Hunter, Alpha Charlie with
Speaker A: Marcel and a bit. All right, N6J O A. Good to hear you in there. Yeah, I heard you earlier with talking with Phil and I was glad to hear you in there. You're a little weak. I'll give you a strong Q3 or a weak Q4. But definitely readable tonight and you're making a good trip from Davis. All right, thanks, Bob. You're Q5 here.
Speaker B: That's 100 watts is to a beam
Speaker A: pointed that way with about 10dB of gain. So we'll see how that works. All right, Charlie, well, have a good week and we'll talk to you next Monday. Okay, let's go to talk back section. I only have one taker tonight. That's Bill and Capay. KC6UFE. Bill.
Speaker C: Go. KC6UFE.
Speaker A: Bill and Capay.
Speaker C: Good evening to the group and all the lurkers in the corners and just sitting here enjoying the weather for the last couple days, waiting for it to start to get hot. So back to you, Bob.
Speaker A: KC6UFE. Hey, Bill, I'd like to ask you a question. You know, I heard some people talking about the magnetic pole shifting hundreds of miles. I know that's true. I have seen that happening for quite a while. But they're also talking about the magnetic core is changing quite a bit. And with that happening, maybe our protection from cosmic rays could be changing in our future. And have you heard or thought about that at all?
Speaker C: Oh, I've heard the science behind it and all that good stuff. Magnetic poles are shifting a little bit, moving a little bit to the east from where they're at. And the magnetic field is weakening and it will eventually go through a flip flop. North is south and south is north. And in the middle of doing that, there's no magnetic field for a little while, and the magnetic field around the planet fades and we lose our protection. Yep, that's all real.
Speaker A: Wow, that's kind of a crazy thought. Let's hope it's thousands of years away.
Speaker C: That would be nice, but it could be tomorrow afternoon.
Speaker A: Well, okay. So eat, drink, and be merry. All right, well, that's good. I'm glad to hear that somebody else also knew about that. Yeah, I was kind of blown away. I knew about the North Pole thing, but I wasn't really aware of the core mechanism. Genetic protection shifting around, too, so. Very good. Thank you, and we'll talk to you next week. All right, last call for any members or guests wishing to check into the.

Everyone, have a wonderful day. Thanks for dropping in and being part of the conversation. I'm Brian AI6us, returning the coffee breaknet and the W6ek repeater back to normal usage, whatever that may be. Happy Tuesday, everybody. 73.
Speaker B: AI 6 us and 6 ems.
Speaker A: Good morning, Bob Dost.
Speaker B: Good morning, sir. Funny you should mention that. I had that exact conversation yesterday in the ambulance on the way to the hospital with a patient about to start an iv and he's like, oh, well, you know, this one over here. And I'm like, looked at him and I'm like, dude, I would not think about going to your workplace and telling
Speaker A: you how to do your job. Yeah, you know, I don't take, don't take it to the personal level, but yeah, it's just one of those things where, you know, if you in amateur radio we're told, well, if you don't like the conversation, you got a vfo. And most of us don't have crystal radios anymore. It's just, you know, we are a conversation based net. And yeah, sometimes we go a little deep on conversations and sometimes we skim over the top, but we hope hopefully works out all in the end. But yes, indeed. How did that vein tap go after he gave you advice? Maybe it hurt a little bit more than it should have. Him or her.
Speaker B: No, at this point, you know, after this many years, it's just mechanical, it's just kind of routine, but all good, successful and I thanked him for his input. But you know, it kind of funny, people will do that and then not even realize that, oh yeah, this guy does this every day.
Speaker A: Well, what gets me is, you know, sometimes the people making the suggestion are also, you know, maybe they set somebody else off with their check in.
Speaker B: So,
Speaker A: you know, sometimes we just need to add a little bit more oil to the feathers and let the water flow.
Speaker B: I get you. Yeah. And you know, I can tell you this, I don't think there's anybody better running a net because you do give opportunity for different types of check ins. You know, I mean, people that want to do it in and out, and then it's like, okay, if you want a rag chew, you know, there's a section for that, and you take those. And so kind of everyone has their space. I can't see how anyone would get their feathers all kerfuffled over that. As long as they're, you know, kind of fallen in line. But anyway, is what it is. You know, take a breath, move on. But anyway, just wanted to tell you, it's like, no, it's not just there. You know, there's people that want to come in and tell you how to do your job no matter where you are. I try and point out the sarcastic humor in what they're doing, and normally they're like, oh, yeah,
Speaker A: so tell me the truth. When somebody's laying in the back of the ambulance or in an emergency room, how open are they to sarcastic humor? You know, you'd probably have me laying there in stitches. But some people. How open are they to sarcastic humor at that point?
Speaker B: Well, you know, many times when I walk in and introduce myself and start doing things and stuff, I just incorporate that into the flow and, you know, make a couple of humorous statements and then look at them and say, you know what? If we can laugh while we're doing that, it'll make the time go a whole lot more. And. And a lot of people have thanked me on the way out saying, you know what? You're right. You know, it was, you know, every time you came in, I was. I was smiling, looking forward to, you know, what. What we were going to chuckle about while you were there.
Speaker A: No, I'm sure. I'm sure your personality and your humor goes a long ways in helping people through some pretty rough situations in their life. And, yeah, that's one thing I must say about you, Bob. You're even keeled, and you have a wicked dry sense of humor. That's well appreciated.
Speaker B: Well, I think probably one of the best things is people don't anticipate it in that time, and it kind of breaks up the. Sometimes breaks up the seriousness and the focus. And, you know, it's like, oh, well, okay, I think I'm going to be okay. And, you know, we can laugh about some things and maybe see through the incident to the other side.
Speaker A: I'm sure the thought crosses their mind. Would he really be joking with me if it really was that serious? I'm sure that has a good calming effect. Well, I have the log all filled out here, and thank you for hanging A little extra time. I got you in the log, by the way, Bob, and thank you very much. You know, it's good to get some positive reinforcement. I feel bad I don't get triggered too often, but once in a while, people will just say something like, did you just hear yourself?
Speaker B: And it.
Speaker A: And I appreciate you coming back and kind of assuring me that life is good and there. It will continue tomorrow. Bob, you have a wonderful day. N6EMS AI6US and by the way, we missed you last evening at the VE session, but we had a blast. You have a great day.
Speaker B: All right, Q2 Brian. And, you know, you can rest assured that as diplomatic as you were, I'm not sure I would have been that. That diplomatic. But, yeah, whatever. But, yeah. And so, no, this was the first rotation back on the rig after coming back. So did this Sunday, Monday. And I knew I was gonna miss the BE session, and that was on my mind. I was sorry, but you know that. That work schedule gets in the way of the hobby a lot, so. Including this Saturday, the day I go back for another rotation, so I'll miss
Speaker A: the donuts in the park, too.
Speaker B: So anyway, but I will be there for the meeting on Friday, so there you go. There's always that.
Speaker A: And.
Speaker B: Hi, Ryan. I heard you check in. Appreciate you, buddy and everybody. And Brian, thank you for chatting the night that I was back east, too. It was.
